Butlers Restaurant & Bar in Arun

We went with a couple of friends. We have not been to Butlers for some time. Was always good value for money, now a step up has been made. We went for lunch on Saturday and all ate very well. Compliments to the kitchen. Front of house service was seamless and professional, a great reflection of the management.

We were really looking forward to returning to this lovely restaurant as a group of 5 friends on a weekend retreat. The food was excellent as was the service we received throughout the evening. When the bill arrived we decided as a group to not pay the full 12.5% service charge for no other reason than this would have exceeded our budgeted amount. We did however leave a tip which we feel was adequate. Upon leaving, we were asked not to leave while they queried the bill as they thought we hadn’t paid enough. With great embarrassment we were asked if we meant to not pay the full service charge (which is discretionary) to which the waitress curtly replied, “was there a problem with the service!” We all left extremely embarrassed and upset that our lovely evening was spoilt. It was totally inappropriate and unprofessional for this to have been aired in front of all staff and customers.

Little disappointed with the food. The toilets are down very steep stairs. Difficult. Good welcome and service.

What a lovely place. We booked this place to eat a Sunday roast whilst on holiday. So glad we booked. The food was amazing. Had pork croquettes and spicy cauliflower to start. Very tasty. Then we had roast beef and lamb. Both meats melted in your mouth. Lots of vegetables too. Then we ordered cheese and biscuits and the pistachio pannacotta. A very nice setting inside too. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were good too.

Lovely ambience and service, food just ok.

We had the most magical, perfect evening at Butlers this week celebrating a big birthday with a group of friends. The dinner was a surprise and the evening couldn't have been bettered! Sasha, Alex and the Butlers team are so warm and welcoming and really do bend over backwards to make every request easy and possible. The food was incredible! Fresh and delicious and met with oohs and ahh's as it came out. The decor here always makes a spoily evening feel twinkly, glam and special. I can't praise them highly enough. Thank you all for a really gorgeous treat. We will be back soon!

Had the cod which was excellent. The vegetables were really nicely cooked (not overcooked). The Lime Pina Colada Cake was unusual and delicious. Not like a standard generic pudding. Service was friendly and a good ambience.

I am so happy to write this review of Butlers in Arundel. We had been encouraged to visit this restaurant with friends after they had experienced a wonderful lunch here some weeks ago. We travelled over an hour to get there so really hoped it would not disappoint. On entering Butlers, we experienced a warm welcome and the 4 of us were promptly shown to our seats in a charming restaurant with the touches that give it warmth and sophistication. The menu was not extensive (a good thing!) and indicated that everything was freshly prepared. It was. The starters were sublime (mushroom soup was excellent as were the arancini) and the steak and ale pies absolutely delicious. Portions are just perfect and the accompanying choices of wine perfectly adequate. Service was of a very high standard indeed and overall, we all rated it one of the best lunch experiences we had had in quite some time. We will definitely be returning! (sorry, no pictures this time :(

Fabulous evening on Friday, food as always was of a very high standard, extremely tasty. Service was consistently seamfree and attentive ❤ and to top it all extra consideration for us was valuable due to us catching the wrong train, making us very late 😬🙄 xxx Thanks guys xxxxx

Booked a table for 4 and on the night our friends were unavoidably delayed by an hour. The staff were very understanding and accommodating. Food there is great, wine is good and the service is excellent. Very friendly and happy staff team.

Our first visit to Butlers and it will not be our last! We absolutely loved it and is now my new favourite restaurant! Awesome cocktails right up my street. I had the specials for both my starter and main and they were perfect. We had a large table that made it so comfortable for us as a two to sit at an angle to each other without the table getting over crowded. Beautiful decor and surroundings. Excellent service. And I loved the high quality paper napkins so much I brought mine home! H

One of the best dining out experiences we’ve had, full stop. The atmosphere cosy and romantic but also lively, the food exemplary and the staff were a breath of fresh air to be honest. Watching the 3 or 4 waiting team work together was fabulous. They worked really well as a team, they were constantly on it, energised and attentive. Rather than the usual set up of one waiter/waitress allocated to a set of tables, they all looked after everyone and no one was without a menu, drink or bill when it was needed. Super massively impressed with everything. It was our wedding anniversary dinner and Butlers really made it so for that we thank you, praise you and highly recommend you to any couple or group wanting a very, very good dinner out. What a charm in a charming town. Will be back!

Had lunch today for my son’s birthday, not been here for a while, I’ve really been missing out!.. atmosphere was lovely the food totally amazing and I felt all the staff went overboard to be polite and professional, prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality

Went to a private function at Butlers on Sunday afternoon. What a fabulous afternoon we had. Rivers of rosè and champagne and delicious canopies. Such a great venue for a party. The staff were amazing, they are all so beautiful and kind. They couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. They were all so smiley and accommodating, just delightful.

Superb staff. Excellent lunch well cooked and presented. Good ambience. Faultless. Shall certainly return in the near future.

Excellent food, fantastic service, very high quality and trendy whilst also keeping things fairly traditional in Arundel, which is perfect. I had the harissa lamb chops with potatoes and my wife had some fish, both meals were superb. Friendly staff too and nice vibe. Great cocktails as well, and the nearby bar 139 Steps (owned by the same couple) is a great way to add to your night.

Back home in NZ after a wonderful holiday with family and friends. Spent my last evening having dinner at Butlers - everything was 5 star+

The service was excellent from our arrival to departure. We had the lamb rump roast and the pork belly. The pork rind was done to perfection, I could have easily had 5 of them! For dessert we opted for strawberry pavlova and the mojito mousse cake, both of which were fresh, tasty and delicious. If you ever find yourself in Arundel, do yourself a favour and get to Butler’s.

I can’t begin the describe how wonderful Butlers is. From the moment I walked in - welcomed by name and offered a delicious cocktail at the bar - Butlers just create the perfect dining experience. The menu is sensibly short but I’d have happily ordered any or all of the dishes. The roasted cauliflower with spiced peanut sauce (starter) and roast cod loin (main) were beyond delicious. But it’s the ambience and excellent customer service that makes Butlers my favourite restaurant in Arundel, and it was great to bring new friends here. You did us proud!

A wonderful evening, beautiful food and friendly service. We had the specials and off the menu and every dish was beautifully presented, delicious and individual in its own right. Will definitely be coming again. A special thank you to Sasha, who was just lovely x

My partner and I loved this place, the fairy tail luxurious atmosphere, the amazing food and lovely staff was wonderful. The only thing it’s not a place for family’s with baby's. The stairs to the toilets are too steep and there are no baby changing rooms which wasn't great but we made do and still had a great experience. We will definitely come back !

Great restaurant with decent "nouvell cuisine" food, just the right size. We don't usually have 3 courses, but because the portions were just right... we did. They also have an outside area for those who want a private chat and perhaps a cigarette or 2. Highly recommended, booking essential. It's a shame they have had problems with customers not turning up for bookings lately as that can affect the atmosphere.

Absolutely awful service, walked in with a few friends and wanted a cocktail. After several requests not having the correct ingredients, I asked what do you have to make a cocktail. The response was well there’s no need for that, which in my opinion was pretty rude…. Needless to say walked out and the pub round the corner (the eagle) got our business and were friendly and accommodating.

Anniversary dinner that did not disappoint! Not an overly extensive menu but well thought out, something for everyone. Delicious food, excellent service.

Swung by here and asked the lady who was behind the bar if they are dog friendly which they are not as a rule but because they wasn’t that busy she said that I could bring the dog in if we sat at the front of the restaurants which was a result!! I ordered the crab Arincini followed by the Lamb and finished off with the Rhubarb and custard crumble. The food was absolutely delicious particularly the Lamb which was sooo tender and plentiful and each mouthful full of flavour. Desert was really clever they way they done it and 10 out of 10 for taste. I could eat here everyday 😃

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with my wife. The menu was full of interesting and exciting options and the quality of food and service was outstanding.

Found ourselves in Arundel without a lunch plan the other day and were welcomed at Butlers. Food was a set meal - beef cheek and arancini - delicious. Service was excellent and accommodations were made for our child. Thank you!

When we arrived we were greeted like old friends and shown to our seats immediately . The service was brilliant and the food delicious....all of it. We were there to celebrate my birthday, and the sweet was brought to the table with a burning candle abd a chorus of happy birthday, which made it even more special . Thank you all so much. If you haven't been to Butlers before GO! you will not be disappointed .

We had not made a booking but were made very welcome. Beautiful decor with low lighting. We were last there four years ago and it has improved enormously. Highly recommended. My husband, who is a vegetarian, was extremely impressed with his veggie dish, which is very rare as most restaurants do not make much effort.

Decided to eat here for valentine's day, what a lovely meal it was. Superb ingredients and fillet steak cooked to perfection. Staff very attentive and friendly with a complimentary rose for the girlfriend when departing. A lovely experience overall and will be returning to taste their regular menu! 😄

If I could put one star I would such a rude owner and definitely wouldn’t come here unless you want to be yelled at :(

A lovely meal with exceptional service.

I had such a delicious dinner here when away on a work trip. The food was really special. Beautifull presented and really unique flavours. Great wine and really friendly service which is so important when you are going out to eat alone. I couldn't fault it and would come back again with the greatest pleasure.

Best Sunday lunch in Sussex! Crispy roast potatoes, delicious pork belly and the best bread and butter pudding you’ll ever have. Beautiful restaurant couldn’t recommend more.

If TA was owned by Carlesberg, then Butlers would get 6⭐.. it's as simple as that😊👍. Outstanding from the moment we walked in at 13:45 through to our departure at 15:15. Attentive service when required, otherwise all tables were discreetly observed👍👍. The cauliflower & parmesan soup was one of the best soups that my tastebuds have been tantalised by...😋😋..( I would happily had it as my desert option🤣). My main of supreme of chicken was fabulous too as was the bread pudding .. Our other 😋😋 choices of Arinchini & Aubergine were also top drawer . And not forgetting Alex who also twinkled 😊👍.. Thankyou!!

I went for My Birthday with daughter Ordered King Prawn starter and Shocked My daughter going for the Cod and Monkfish Main was truly delish great choice ,Daughter had Pork lovely Portion sizes are very good and No space for a Pudding Service was attentive But No over powering I would Highly recommend this restaurant and will return Soon Thank you

Lovely family run restaurant, set in the heart of Arundel. The atmosphere is always warm and cosy, service excellent and the food and drink of a consistently high standard. There is a small bar/seating area at the front of the restaurant if you fancy a drink before your meal. They keep the menu interesting. We had the two course set lunch, which is good value. They also have an excellent choice of well priced wines by the glass/bottle to match. Our servers were friendly, polite and good humoured, which made the experience even more pleasurable. Just bear in mind that stairs to the basement toilet are steep, but not a problem for most. In my option, one of the best restaurants around.

A super restaurant, with an absolute professional running it. We had a delightful 3 course dinner this evening and the food was exceptional but Sasha and her team were equals to that. Very, very impressive.

Absolutely lovely. Service excellent,catered for my wife's serious allergy problem . No problem. We went mid day as visitors to Arundel. This restaurant is worth seeking out. Food that good that we all 4 had 3 courses and drinks.

12 months ago we got married and held our wedding breakfast in this restaurant, the food and service at that time was exceptional. So to celebrate our 1st Anniversary we returned, we were not disappointed, once again Sasha and her team provided an exceptional service, friendly and willing to go the extra mile to provide a great experience. Once again the menu was very good, not extensive, yet every dish was unique and tempting. We had Beetroot Terrine and BBQ Pork and Vegetable Spring Roll for Starters, we both had Ballotine of Turkey for the main course. We shared the Festive Bread and Butter pudding, every dish was delicious! We will be back regularly now.

Visited with family. A brilliant little place with fantastic food and great service. Paid for parking nearby and centrally located in the town of Arundel. The only issue is the toilets in the lower ground floor, they are difficult to get to if you are a child or elderly

A celebration dinner with friends Saturday night we always enjoy meeting here ..for mains we had 2 cod specials and 2 duck which was disappointing, the meat was thickly cut and very chewy I had to leave most of it, the waitress didn't even comment, I have no idea why we didn't complain, I would normally and I'm sure they would have suggested an alternative.

My most favourite restaurant in the world. Food is amazing, seasonal and fine dining quality with a warm family relaxed atmosphere and a sense of fun and humour. Always an amazing warm welcome - how the staff genuinely remember us I have no clue! Must of been a memorable wedding proposal haha. All my friends love this restaurant and crave going! Only feedback tonight is we wanted to leave a tip but didn’t bring cash as we rarely use it now, sadly the card machine didn’t give us the option to include a tip!

wow just wow! we were lucky enough to book butlers private dining room for our wedding meal and the whole experience was nothing short of amazing, sacha and her team are top draw and nothing from start to finish was too much trouble, the food was outstanding and all our guests commented on how good it was, the 2 ladies who looked after us all eveing were amazing and a real credit to this amazing restaurant, thank you thank you thank you, for just making our special day even more special, we will def be returning for a meal for two not 25 next time and can't wait

Delicious modern British food in a lovely atmosphere. Everything tasted incredible - especially the raspberry souffle! The only criticism was that the service was a bit slow and disjointed.

My husband and I had friends coming from The New Forest and because I’d been to Butlers before and loved it so much I booked for Sunday lunch, it was amazing, my friend who is really fussy actually thought it was the best Sunday roast she’d ever had eating out!.
