We ate the dressed crab (possibly the best I’ve ever tasted) and also their signature chowder soup which was excellent too. Enjoyed the Seabass after and then the amazing cheesecake. Couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Loved that the chef came out to see if everything was OK. Service was professional and friendly. Wine was reasonably priced. Have booked to return again.

The tempura prawns are amazing - light batter and plump, juicy prawns cooked to perfection. The mackerel paté with home-made bread which my husband had was also very tasty. The mains were also excellent. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this place and are looking forward to going back there at the end of the summer when we pass through Littlehampton again.

We had an absolutely delightful experience at 47 Mussel Row in Littlehampton. The food was fresh and bursting with flavour, leaving us craving more with every bite. Starting with the chowder, it was a warm hug on a cold day, rich and creamy with perfectly cooked seafood that melted in our mouths. The scallops were seared to perfection, tender yet with a satisfying caramelized crust, complemented by a delicate sauce that elevated their natural sweetness. The fish and chips were a quintessential British delight, with crispy golden batter giving way to flaky, moist fish that was simply divine. And the mussels! Oh, the mussels were a true standout, plump and juicy in a delectable broth that we couldn't resist sopping up with crusty bread. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was cosy and inviting, reminiscent of a small village restaurant where every guest is treated like family. It truly felt like being at mum's house, with comforting food and warm hospitality. We can not recommend 47 Mussel Row highly enough. It's a gem of a restaurant that exceeded all our expectations. We'll definitely be returning for more of their delicious fare and charming atmosphere.

The restaurant does not look amazing from the outside, but once inside it is lovely and the food is fabulous. Really fresh fish, subtly flavoured sauces, good presentation. A real find!!

25 of us came here yesterday for mums 80th birthday lunch. We would just like to say thank you very much for a lovely lunch. Everyone commented on how lovely the food and service was. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff serving us were very efficient and helpful.. and it made mums day very special .we will be back, im sure .

I haven't done a review of 47 Mussel row in a while, so after 2 visits within a few days, I thought it was about time. For my wife and I, this is the perfect restaurant. Incredible staff and beautiful food. If I could eat there every week, I would.

Sunday lunch at Mussel Row is sheer joy. I ordered the roast pork, it came with the most delicious roast potatoes a small side of dauphinois. The gravy was meaty and the crackling superb. Homemade Yorkshire pudding and perfectly cooked veg, absolutely delicious. Followed by homemade sticky toffee pudding which was amazing. The team are friendly and make the dining experience even more positive. Thank you for a lovely time.

47MUSCLE ROW As a starter we got the signature dish chowder and bread, it had good fish taste not too smoked as per description but was quite filling for a starter. I had the Tuscan Chicken which was presented nicely with a crisped chicken fillet dusted with parmesan, spinach and thin zucchini layers in top of a tomato cream sauce. For me the cream sauce was too heavy but it had a nice taste. The other people I was with got : The mussels in a cream sauce with home made bread. mussels tasted really good and were quite large too however they did come from Scotland not locally sourced. The home made bread its self was dense and ordinary. Fish, local huss, and triple cooked chips served with tartare sauce and lemon. The Huss, a special fish, was described and tasted like a mix between cod and dog fish and was a white tasty fish battered. Apple and Pear crumble with ice-cream - which was warm it tasted nice but it was more like cooked tasty fruit and crumble. I'd think it would need to be put together more as a desert. The atmosphere was very: coastal town at night. We went to have dinner quite late at 8pm but the restaurant was still lively/ noisy with 3 fairly large groups. There lots of open space and comfortable the table height that was higher than usual, lots of leg room. Service was a bit delayed.

I used to love the mussels in this restaurant , after few years I went back and what a big desappointment, the sauce was totally tasteless, my wife sea bass was OK but the saute potatoes that accompanied it were burn on the outside but not cooked through. The young lady who served us was very good.For what we had to eat it was very expensive. I will not recommend this place.

The food was good. Obviously not their peak season but welcoming enough and enjoyed our meal.

We regularly eat at Mussel Row where the food and service is always excellent. The specials board is changed regularly and the homemade desserts are delicious. We always like to support local businesses and when the quality is this good why wouldn't you.

Just wow, the food and wine were absolutely amazing. We chose the mussels with chips and they were absolutely delicious. The sauce the mussels were cooked in was one of the best we have ever tasted. They have a great selections of very good wines and the service was excellent. Wish we lived nearer to taste all of the menu.

Had a lovely lunch food was great and service very attentive and pleasant. I would definitely recommend! The only suggestion would be slightly bigger portions but that has probably more to do with the fact that when I'm in front of great seafood, no portion will ever be enough.

Been hankering to eat here for over 2 years . Finally made it this evening. What a complete let down. Starters ok, Hubbys main course ok. White wine (32 quid a bottle, anniversary if you’re wondering ) room temperature - waitress advice - put ice in it !!. She then felt my warm glass and rolled her eyes at me because it felt ok to her. My main course mussels in white wine and cream sauce, no sauce. Waitress bought my main back out in a bowl to show me there was sauce, only quarter of the mussels in the bowl. Yes lots of sauce when 10 mussels served in it. Then got “accused” of having eaten there before. Trust me I never go anywhere twice of this standard. Offered to pay for what we had eaten, waitress refused and gestured I should leave. Social media reviews coming, looking forward to the response, every other negative review blames the customer. I also feel sorry for the young people being taught by this waitress. If anyone needs lessons in how to be passive aggressive, defensive, how not to behave as a manager or how to take no accountability then you absolutely need to visit this disappointing place.

The menu at 47 Mussel Row is a mix of static regular favourites plus an evolving mix of new dishes and daily specials. Subsequently, for regulars like us, there's usually always something new to try. Dishes are reasonably priced, as is the selection of internation and Englis wines, they even sell a local Gin. Everything tastes incrdibly fresh and is all cooked on the premises. Their home smoked salmon (and sometines other fish too) is spectacular, as is the home made bread.

Absolute gem of a restuarant in littlehampton I enjoyed the fish chowder and home made bread with a lovely fresh side salad. Great selection of wines. Fabulous service. I especially enjoyed the fact it was an adults restuarant , a grown up rest and eat in peace place kwithout unruly children. Sophisticated menu., yet casual and welcoming perfect for couples on a romantic meal out.

Had a lovely meal here recently with friends. We were in the area on a weekend away and found this lovely restaurant on the seafront. The food was great with a great selection of specials to pick from. Staff were also very attentive and friendly.

Second time visiting 47 Mussel Row and overall pleasant experience. Service was friendly with the right amount of attention. Main courses were great and fairly priced - lamb cooked to perfection, enough of potato and veg (delicious dauphinois), generous portion of seabass and tasty prawns. The only disappointment was the scallops - would like to see a more elevated and sophisticated dish. On previous visit had the chowder and mackerel pate which were both delicious. The interior is quite rustic and not to our taste so don’t let it put you off as it did for us previously.

Once again we enjoyed a really super meal at 47 Mussel Row. The waiting team were, as usual, well trained, efficient and very personable. The food was well presented, tasty and fresh. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it. We have been before and we will return.

Suspected (but not confirmed..) that this is a family run restaurant. If it is... it shows. Had really great service from two young blokes, who had the rare skill of excellent customer service, without it feeling forced or painted on in the slightest. Gave us really helpful tips for exploring the area, and were the key part of an excellent meal. Top tip is the mussels, although the only downside is the secret recipe in the sauce... Couldn't for the life of us figure out what it was, but it was delicious! I suspect we'll never know

Arrived on a whim, sorted a table for us no problem 4 adults 1 child couple of minute wait. Various meals ordered from beef roast to steak dinner and a fish dish. Every meal was excellent and service very good. Little gem In Littlehampton defo will be back and recommended.

On a mini break and found this place- lovely- it was full on a week day and we had a lovely meal. Staff great too. Good value.

6 of us dined here for a special family dinner. The food was good - presentation was a bit dated on a couple of the dishes, but everyone ate well. However, the service was not on a par with the prices. Very amateur, not the staff's fault (all 3 waiters were very young) but lack of guidance from management). For example, the waiter said "here's your wine to pour yourselves" - he didn't offer us the chance to try the 32-pound bottle first. And the waitress brought 6 plates and put the pile on the table for us to distribute! She later knocked over one of the full-ish wine glasses and apart from bringing a couple of serviettes, left us to clear up the mess. We were offered a replacement glass of wine but "not the same one because we're not going to open a new bottle just for one glass"! We get that anyone can knock a glass over accidentally but it's up to management to turn the incident round. Luckily it was white wine so didn't noticeably stain my clothes. Extraordinary to pay over 200 pounds and receive this level of service. I therefore wouldn't recommend it as a venue and would suggest that the manager trains her staff to the price level she charges.

Nice service and atmosphere but the tiger prawn pasta gave me horrendous food poisoning later that night. Vomiting all night. Ruined the rest of our trip.

It was our first time visiting Mussel Row, it was clean and the decor was nice and homely. The young waiter gave great service and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely go back here. It excellent meal, I had the sole, and it was very tasty, had dill and butter with hand-cut chips. My wife had the prawn pasta she said it was the best she has ever had. Waiter, we're great so polite and helpful. A small basic restaurant serving great food and good value for money.

We went to this family run restaurant and loved it. Wife was unsure about wine so they let her taste different ones. The food was amazing. Our host Rowan took care of us very well. All in all 5 stars. Happy to support local and this restaurant is definitely one of them.

Re: 47 Mussel Row: Based on reviews I really looked forward to eating at this restaurant. My food wasn't as I had hoped. Tempura Prawns were delicious but a bit pricey. Sultans Delight sounds good on menu but in reality it was far too salty and appeared on my plate like sloppy dogs food. Best I can say is the lamb meat was very tender. I ate the food because I was hungry. My companions enjoyed their food. One had the cod and chips. Shame the mushy peas were used to decorate the plate and looked a bit a skid mark. Also a shame that the chef/ owner couldn't be a bit more flexible regarding the small changes requested by my other companion. These things rather took the shine off our collective experience. Had I read the menu more closely I'd not have had anything that says "pureed". Sad to say the pureed aubergine looked like 'sick' on the plate. I could not have foreseen the over abundance of salt in the lamb. Nor could I have guessed the slow cooked lamb would be just a glorified stew with a Persian title. I think it's clear I wouldn't consider this meal again. The serving staff were helpful and attentive but not over powering. A very good thing. Environment quite noisy, probably due to wooden flooring and seating. It's a fact that soft furnishings help to reduce noise in crowded places such as restaurants. Toilet clean and tidy with no foul odours. Because some items on the menu sound interesting I might consider returning to 47 Mussel Row but it won't be anytime soon. To all potential customers: I suggest you read the menu carefully and ask questions about the items. To the Restaurant Management: I suggest you try to be more flexible with items a customer may wish to change on a dish they might care to order.

A very nice lunch in Littlehampton. It is our first time to 47 Mussel Row. Firstly, it’s by the Littlehampton harbor with nice sea view, environment is very relax, it’s also very easy to park nearby. We arrived at 12:05pm as the first guest, waiter is very friendly and professional, he fitted us in a cozy table by the window. We ordered the Signature chowder, it is must try, very delicious with many fish and prawns inside. We also ordered Prawn Tempura, it’s not like the real Japanese style tempura, but the prawns are big and fresh and they are fried with coating to the best condition, we do like it. Of course, we ordered the mussel and it is really good, must must order. Mussels are very big and fresh, sauce is just right, everything is perfect harmony. Price is very reasonable as well. We really enjoy the meal and will come back soon.

As always, despite being at capacity the food was delivered with professionalism, and the eating experience was absolutely fantastic. Mussel row is my go to whenever I’m anywhere on the south coast, fresh, home cooked food, at its best.

The food was excellent and they had smoked ling on special which had been smoked on the premises. Not a pretty looking fish, looks like a conger eel, but it is very tasty. It's a simple cafe setup inside, but you are well looked after by the serving staff.

Always great food, excellent service and a nice selection of wine and local ales. Now serving local Gin too. **** Revisited again tonight, have to say, it's better than ever. Despite being unexpectedly a member of the team short, the young lad running front of house was exceptionally professional and totally in control. Food was spectacular yet again.

First of all the restaurant were very accommodating . I originally reserved a table for 1500 but our travel arrangements changed and I asked if we could change to 1400 . The lady explained the restaurant was extremely busy but suggested we arrived at 1430. She was right. A busy Sunday but the two of us were seated at a spacious table . The staff were friendly and very efficient . A good selection of starters . My wife ordered the roast option and I asked for fish and chips . The waiter explained he had just sold the large portion . Never mind . I was uncomfortable ordering a steak in a fish restaurant but there is a god !! Very tasty steak / sauce / chips and tomatoes . My wife’s roast was verging on huge !
