We celebrated my wife’s birthday on Tuesday evening. 12 guests enjoyed the most wonderful food and wine beautifully presented and expertly served. . The concern to detail ensured the whole evening was a huge success. Thank you all, for making Julia’s evening sp memorable.

The most wonderful evening! Have never visited before, so first time for us. The food was absolutely delicious, great ambience, and amazing drinks. Ben was exceptional and looked after us so perfectly, nothing was too much trouble. Would give higher ratings if we could! We will most certainly visit again.

At last - I have found an independent restaurant in West Sussex where the food is entirely wonderful and service impeccable! Have spent a long time searching. Located in Findon, a village nesting in the South Downs that looks like Miss Marple should have a cottage there, the menu was imaginative and the food prepared with love and pride. It's in easy striking distance of Arundel, Worthing, Chichester and Shoreham. Also impressed buy the distance between the tables which mweant conversation flowed easily.

I took my Mother to lunch at the Sylvan Oak restaurant today, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We were shown to a lovely window table, and honestly the staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. They were so cheerful and friendly and that always enhances a dining experience. As far as the food was concerned, well,it was superb. The menu choice isn't huge, but honestly we could have picked any item knowing we'd have enjoyed it. In the end we had 2 courses at £40 each which was really well priced in my view. Our main courses were Saddle of Rabbit ,which was fantastic to see on a menu and did not disappoint. It was so delicious and well presented. Our dessert was Peach Melba Cheesecake,again a delight and was so smooth and silky. The atmosphere felt very relaxed and quite intimate and was perfect for a different kind of non-pub Sunday lunch in a very pretty village. It really is to be recommended. I'm just annoyed with myself that I've only just discovered such a gem!

The most gorgeous meal for a wedding anniversary celebration. The food was absolutely outstanding; fabulous menu, delicious courses and beautifully presented. Chefs took such care and pride in each plate. The best meal out in West Sussex we've had, and fitting for the occasion (and we're really big foodies!). The staff were so warm, friendly and attentive, we were made to feel very welcome and well looked after. The range and presentation of the cocktails really made for some wows from the table. The Old Fashioned in particular! Really can't recommend the Sylvan Oak enough; a big thank you for having us and look forward to returning soon!

An absolute must visit if you're in and around the Findon area. Food was at an incredibly high level. I would definitely recommend the rabbit. Atmosphere wise there was a really nice buzz about the place. And the service was impeccable from every member of staff who came to our table. I finished the night with a glass of Duc De Sauternes. Do not leave Slyvan Oak without trying one.

Attended my friend’s 60th birthday! We all enjoyed a very special lunch mainly due to the fantastic food. A huge thanks to the staff for the constant attention to ensure we were all looked after. We all hope to return again at some point.

A birthday treat and what a treat it was everything was absolutely spot on we couldn’t fault a thing. Bens Vespa’s are a must a real sting in the tail that much so I had to have another. Thank you guys for a memorable evening we will be back.

Fantastic across the board. Amazing food, excellent service for my birthday meal. The saddle of rabbit and pancetta main was especially noteworthy. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and attentive service from Ben (and lady whose name I did not catch) . Will hopefully be back one day if in the area.

We went as a family of 9 people, including a 1 year old. The service was exceptional, every member of the team were warm and welcoming. Kara served us, and she went above and beyond with her 5* customer service. Me and my husband both forgot our baby’s dinner 🤦🏼‍♀️ This wasn’t a problem and Bonnie had her first ever fine dining experience! (Mash and a selection of purées beautifully presented). Our food was the best food we had eaten in a very long time, we will return again soon. Also, for the quality of the food the prices are very fair and not over priced. The ambiance and the food is amazing. Very friendly, immaculately clean and the food is exceptional. The only thing that prevented five stars was no choice for the less discerning child with us. A slightly limited menu albeit a great one. The haste in which the table was cleared after our roll and then again after the starter. Would have felt more relaxed if we had been given a few minutes. But all in all this was a great taste experience.

We had a lovely evening at Sylvan Oak, the staff were all brilliant and the food was lovely. We had partridge and halibut preceded by top quality starters including scallops, prawns and foie gras pate. Great experience and we will be coming back soon.

Every aspect of our meal here was absolutely brilliant, the restaurant itself is sleek and clean and open whilst maintaining character with the exposed wooden beams. We came as a party of 11 to celebrate a 60th birthday and everyone was impressed with the absolutely delicious dishes that were served and the wine selection was also great. I'd highly recommend the Duck main and the Crème brulé dessert! Service was attentive and informative whilst also fun and friendly, one of the best overall food experiences I've had in recent years. You won't regret giving the Sylvan Oak a try.

Here for a friend's special birthday party. All the food and drink was beautifully presented and delicious. Other items on the menu were just as tempting. I'm sure we will return and benefit from the great food and the easy goodwill of the staff.

I love the friendly service which isn't overbearing or too pushy. Highly recommend sitting next to the bar and chatting with the staff there. We learnt a lot just by watching cocktails being made. The Cosmo and Old fashioned were really special. And a 3 course meal is good value with plenty of choice

Let’s not forget the incredible food -the goats cheese starter is to die for.. and the halibut is just beautiful. The cocktails from Ben are also unbelievable!!! Can’t wait for our next visit x

Having recently moved to the area this is a restaurant that hubby had wanted to try for awhile but the distance put him off. Living closer encouraged him to book for lunch with friends, then again as a treat for our daughters birthday. Both visits were on a Friday lunchtime, which is really quiet and personable. Front of house is Ben and he's great. Super friendly and excellent at his job. Perfect fit for this amazing little restaurant. Both times I've opted for the foie gras for starters as it's not something you find in many restaurants and it's delicious. The beef fillet main melts in the mouth and the pork chop is perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The food is beautifully presented. The wines are plentiful and the cocktails are excellent. It has certainly become our favourite restaurant to go to for a treat. Infact we're already booked in for hubby's birthday in October!

Me and my partner visited the Sylvan Oak at the beginning of August with family and all we can say is WOW! We were absolutely blown away, from the attentive service from all the staff, the tranquil atmosphere and the outstanding food we all had. Even with it being a smaller venue you feel as if you have your own privacy between tables, which was lovely, as we were able to freely chat amongst ourselves and not feel as if we were disturbing anyone else that was there. While all the staff were amazing, we would like to give a extra special thanks to Ben who made our time there even more enjoyable. From providing recommendations of wines that would compliment our dishes to his attentiveness throughout our booking, he’s an essential asset to the business and makes everyone feel welcomed and well looked after. The food was incredible! You can tell that all the chefs involved have a true passion for what they are serving. Everything is incredibly thought out and all ingredients compliment each other throughout every dish. The variety of different foods available on their menu means everyone can find something to enjoy and tuck into. A couple of us had a look through their cocktail menu and tried their Passionfruit Martini, which we agreed was the best one we’ve ever had. The cocktails alone have convinced us to return to try the others available, what better way to make the most of the atmosphere inside and outside the venue? I would highly recommend, without a doubt, to pop into the Sylvan Oak whether you want a sit down meal or a couple of drinks to unwind from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It truly is a hidden treasure in Findon, and one we hope more people make the most of.

We had come down to visit my aunty and uncle from north wales who frequent the Sylvan Oak and it’s with great excitement we accompanied them to the eatery yesterday evening. We have visited before but I have never had time to write a proper review. Having visited many fine dining and Michelin started eatery’s all over the world this is my analysis; Bartending up there with the best in the world. Service impeccable. Food is divine. Wine Is fantastic. I encourage anyone that loves any of the above to visit. Is it possible to give 6 stars ?

Súper lunch, went with a friend for a very belated birthday. Food was amazing. Started with wood pigeon which was delicious, followed by duck and then an amazing parsnip crème caramel. Friend had the burrata, followed by lamb with Stilton soufflé and a lemon meringue...

Absolutely stunning from start to finish. Ben was an incredible host and knew the menu inside out. We suggested what sort of wine we were looking for and you could see this was his domain and he picked us out a fantastic Rioja, told us about the wine owner and where his business is. The food was fresh, exciting and completely original. Gluten free was not a problem at all; for example where the dish called for soy sauce the chefs cooked up a prune reduction instead. Definitely going back!

What truly sets the worlds best restaurants, such as the Sylvan Oak, apart? The never-failing ability to deliver an amazing experience every single time. Few restaurants can achieve this. Quite a few restaurants can give you an amazing experience once or twice only to let you down the next time. But the Sylvan Oak is truly world class, being one of the very, very few that every single time, with the utmost expertise, delivers a perfect experience, somehow seemingly outclassing it's previous best. I've eaten here at least 5 times in the last few months, as a table of 1, 6 and 9. It doesn't matter how many or few people we are, or how busy they are, every time the incredible team at the Sylvan Oak deliver a mouthwatering experience with the very best service. And it's not just me - I've lost count of the number of tables next to me commenting 'as usual that was the best Ben' - which also demonstrates another accolade - it seems half the guests are on first name terms with the staff, another sign of their exquisite service and the genuine relationships they've built with so many guests. For a totally transformational experience, you must try the Sylvan Oak. The food is the very best - imaginative dishes with items you'll rarely see at other restaurants, such as red deer loin, beef wellington, partridge, foie gras, all cooked so unbelievably perfectly you didn't know it was possible. I've eaten scallops probably near hundreds of times, foie gras dozens of times and none have been anywhere near as exquisite as at the Sylvan Oak. So many incredible complementary flavours abound on each plate, creating the most delicious taste sensation you'll ever have. The service is on another level. Its attentive, with perfect timing. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, finding time to build a little genuine conversation with each table, and it's not just 1 or 2 times the head chef has come out to talk to customers. Obviously this isn't every time, but I can't remember the last time I've seen this anywhere else and shows how much the Sylvan Oak cares about it's customers and goes the extra mile to give the very best experience. The drinks menu is incredible, with a wide variety of best-in-class items. They recently launched a cocktail menu which is extraordinarily dangerous! Each cocktail is far too delicious and, as with everything else, is so expertly mixed it covers up the overly generous 50% alcohol within, meaning you (or at least I) will have no idea how much alcohol you are drinking - be careful! Fine dining but with a friendly, personable atmosphere. Incredible. I just can't wait until they launch a tasting menu - if you could eat a little of every one of their immeasurable dishes in one sitting, you truly would be in heaven! All in all, I'm not sure you'll find a better restaurant in the world. Certainly not in Sussex and probably not in the UK. For me, winner of best restaurant worldwide in every single category other than 'panoramic sea views across a Mediterranean coastline' - sadly Findon can't support that!
