I had a lovely meal with family on Saturday 12 October. The service was brilliant. Bex and Jake were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We met the manager Joe, who appeared with our desserts and made sure we were all happy with our meal and gathered more drinks for us. Table 14 is in a cosy room (quite dark and could possibly do with a brighter lamp or some fairy lights) but very private for an intimate family gathering.

All you expect from Wetherspoons. Went for a lunch and, fora change, decided to try a salad. It was very good. An drink was included in the very reasonable price. Finished off with fresh fruit ad ice cream. Also, stayed to have a coffee and it was nice to be able to get refills for no extra charge. Staff were very busy but were friendly and helpful. I liked the place.

The Crown Hotel in Chertsey is a real jewel in Surreyâs crownâif youâre after comfort, style, and service that would make a First Class passenger smile, youâre in for a treat. From the moment I checked in, the staff were as warm and welcoming as a cup of tea on a long-haul flight (or a short-haul delay). Friendly, attentive, and utterly professionalâthey clearly know how to make every guest feel like royalty. My room was more than big enough to stretch out inâextra king-size bed with crisp white bedding that rivaled the smoothness of a freshly ironed uniform. A sofa, coffee table, and desk provided plenty of lounging or working options, though with a Nespresso machine and a Bluetooth speaker to hand, working was low on the agenda. The en-suite shower? A dream. Spacious, spotless, and stocked with toiletries and fluffy white towelsâitâs the perfect place to wash away the day. A lift to the first floor was a thoughtful touch, too, saving me from dragging my cabin bags up the stairs. And hereâs the best part: all this luxury and comfort for just ÂŁ90 a night. Frankly, thatâs a bargain that feels almost too good to be true. If youâre flying into Chertsey and need a soft landing, the Crown Hotel is well worth a visit. Five starsâand not a single turbulence in sight!

This is a lovely old pub with a probably 1980/90s hotel extension on the side. Friendly reception and waiting staff. Fairly minimalist old school breakfast although my eggs Benedict (oddly with bacon rather than ham) was tasty and well cooked. I didnât eat in the restaurant so canât really comment. The public rooms are older worlde characterful but the general feel of the bedrooms is dated (stained dark wood, chipped furniture, not enough power points, poorly sealing windows, particularly a problem if you are facing the A34 trunk road). Attempts have been made to update (nice bed throws and a capsule coffee machine in the rooms) but it canât hide the reality. The place needs investment to gut it and bring up to date. Perfectly usable but not a âdestinationâ or up to international standards.

From the moment we walked through the door the bar staff made us feel really welcome ⊠old - fashioned type hospitality. Great beer helped us settle in and food was tasty, well prepared and served. We loved the whitebait, salmon with balsamic/cherry toms and cheese board. After a long days walking it was a great place to spend a Saturday evening! Thank you.

Well, it all started when we came to the front door and the bar man was so unwelcoming he may as well of told us to leave before we entered. To say the least it was a disappointment. However the bar ladies was very nice. What a shame the barmanâs unwelcoming behaviour overshadowed the bar lady wonderful customer service. It would a much better pub with out him in my opinion.

We have been to this pub before, and promised ourselves we would come back to eat. It was worth the wait! We had a delicious Sunday roast at The Plough. The portions are very generous, and the team are great! And to top it off, it's a dog-friendly pub. We will be back again - next time after a bit of a walk to make more room for lunch đ

There for a few beers and stepped out into the smoking area, when I tried to get back had been told that the manager had pointed out 4 people who they didnât want back in, and I was one of them. No explanation why, Iâd literally just chatted to the other people outside for the first time and had only had 1 beer. Anyway, avoid. I suspect they donât want customers of certain demography which was very much the impression the bouncer gave when I asked him why werenât allowed in. Beer is overpriced here too.

Sometimes you can walk into a pub or club for the first time, or even as a regular, and be met with miserable or even rude staff and those that are wrapped up in their own self-importance - but not here in The Rum Puncheon. I came in here today on recommendation from a friend called Simon who is a fire chief at Eltham. Sat for almost an hour talking with a lovely young lady behind the bar called Tess. What a credit to The Rum Puncheon she is, though she is leaving this Sunday. I'm sure she will be missed. There were two Ales on tap from Horsham's Dark Star, those being Hophead and Orbiter. I only had the hophead which was nice. With the explosion of Micro Pubs and tap Rooms though, I would like to see perhaps one or two locally produced Ales such as from Iron Pier who even brew a Pale Ale called West Street - ironic as that is where The Rum Puncheon is. That said, the two ales available here are two more than some places have that stick to their same ol same ol monotonous regular ale. I'll definitely be back base don conversation alone.
