It was my first time coming here and my friend treated me for my Birthday to afternoon tea. There were loads of tasty treats provided by the lovely owner. You get SO MUCH for your money and it is all good quality. I recommend a visit and would definitely return!

Fabulous find. Live near Uckfield for years and have never visited. I was driven by the reviews that are consistent and took a chance. The greeting was lovely and friendly. The seating area clean and fresh. The food was for my daughter mainly, the choice was Korma. It was fresh, the chicken plentiful and the bread was soft and very tasty. Will definitely get another take away and try the chef specials. Highly recommend.
Although I am local, have driven past The Village Bakery for years, this was the first time I have visited this delightful establishment.
I went with my brother, before going on to the Warners on Hayling. We both ordered the breakfast and were not disappointed. It was cooked to perfection and was enjoyed with enthusiasm.
It was quite busy, with the majority of the customers being mostly in the building trade. This is always a good sign.
Thank you Village Bakery, although it was my first visit, it certainly won’t be my last.

Edit Feb 2025: We ended up going 3 times, and when booking the 4th time, i just saw they now ask for your credit card - which on principle, i wont do. Such a shame - docked one star and unfortunately now wont be back until they lift the credit card requirement.
Original review from late 2024:What a great place! Lovely lounge for a pre drink, and then….finally… a well spaced out dining room where you cant hear your neighbours because theyre far away! Love the space between the tables and the views out to the koi pond - i bet its gorgeous in summer when it gets darker later.
Bit of a limited drinks menu (no cocktails and limited fizz), but it was more than compensated by how delicious the food was.
A particular stand out was the mosaic cod
with the 24 hr potatoe and the cherry and creme fraiche sponge. Theyre also a bit different - for eg we ordered a side of hispi cabbage, which came with some lemon curd. At first i flinched at the thought of it, but it was genius!
Their staff are super super friendly once you crack the ice a bit. Service is intentionally spaced out so you dont rush blind through the food - though we thought it was a touch TOO slow and could have done with maybe 5-10mins less waiting between courses. But cant fault them for that! If you ask them to speed up the dessert, they do.
Reasonable prices given the very high quality.
We’re going back soon - glad theyre local!
Great brevets steak lunch , one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. It was presented on a bed of spinach and a portion of potato lyonnaise. Well presented, promptly served but portions were a bit small. The steak was delicious but I personally felt a larger portion of potato lyonnaise would have made this a 10/10 . I left slightly hungry but thoroughly enjoyed this steak. Friends had a pottage of smoked haddock that they both loved.

Fantastic place to spend a late summer afternoon. Intriguing tapas style menu and delicious cocktails. Fun setting, big screen to watch the summers best sporting events on too
After driving from Wolverhampton for work found this cafe absolutely beautiful, I would recommend to anyone not to shy on sandwich fillings ever 10/10 👍🏻👍🏻
