Heads up to any other black folks/POC that are thinking of visiting the glasshouse for tea. Staff in general were pretty dismissive and unhelpful. Normally, I wouldn’t think anything of it. Sadly one server was so rude in particular that it gave me a feeling I’m sure other POC are familiar with. I don’t normally leave reviews at all, let alone negative ones, but I feel it necessary to warn others who may have a similar experience - I didn’t feel welcome at this cafe.

My Nan and I like to book afternoons teas as the occasional treat and have been to many throughout east Kent. This was easily one of the best, with plenty of choice, lovely and fresh food. The scones were even warm which always is a bonus! The staff were so attentive and lovely had a great attitude and clearly work hard. I would recommend it to anyone! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

We live nearby and regularly walk through the park, but we had never visited the glasshouse before. As the sun was shining, we checked their website to see if they were open (as they only open on certain days) and we were pleased to see we were lucky. We had a warm welcome and the three of us each chose two scones with jam and cream. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. We sat outside the glasshouse and enjoyed looking at the surroundings which are beautifully kept. We cursed ourselves for not visiting before! Highly recommended.

The garden was beautiful and the food was pleasant. However the older lady at the garden, who I believe was called Loraine. She treated the poor waitresses who couldn’t have been older than 16, with no respect considering they were young individuals learning how to work in the hospitality industry. While I was waiting to used the bathroom, I heard ‘Loraine’ aswell as the owner of the glass house, shouting at one of the young waitresses for moving out the way for a customer to be polite. Now I felt these young ladies performed wonderfully with a polite and professional approach. I felt incredibly bad for these young ladies and they don’t deserve the harsh treatment that they faced.

We made a special effort to visit this place but found it very disappointing. Iced Coffee - poorly prepared and lacked a real coffee flavour. English Breakfast Tea - dreadful, weak brew, which tasted nothing like English Breakfast Tea. A second tea bag in the pot may have helped the flavour but the tea bags were very poor quality. Toasted Teacake - served after the drinks and not really worth the wait. Service - nothing special. Value for Money - very poor. I would not waste my time seeking out this place, which is a real victory for style over substance.

We have not been here since the pandemic so as we were in the area we decided to call in. We were greeted by a Lorraine and shown to our table outside. We ordered cream tea for one and a ginger beer. All the tables are outside under gazebos or tables with umbrellas. The food was excellent quality as usual and the staff were friendly and helpful . Janice and Phil the owners came over to talk to us as we are friends and spoke about what they hope to do in the future . If you need to use the toilets as you have to go through the greenhouse and then into their actual house side it is a bit time consuming as the staff work in a very small area and because of the pandemic they have to operate differently.

This family run tea house, is a real 'destination' venue, hidden in the most beautiful park and 5 minutes from the Viking Trail. A visual delight as you enter th garden, then there are plants inside the greenhouse as you make your way to the counter and little shop where you can browse and purchase one-off vintage and other gifts. Then of course, the reason you might visit in the first place. The tea and cakes - home made, rich and indulgent are delicious and the home made scones in the cream teas are just a wow!. Lovely freindly service, gorgeous peacful gardens, and as far as I'm concerned always a real treat to go (and good value too!). Check out their Facebook page for opening times. I'm almost reluctant to recommend becuase I hope it won't get too crowded, but it so deserves it! Enjoy.

Open Wednesday to Sunday throughout the high season (the website shows Friday to Sunday only) this attractive cafe, based on a lovely Italianate glasshouse on the edge of the park, King George 6th memorial park, that lies between Dumpton Gap and Ramsgate, is a real gem. Some seating in the glasshouse itself, but largely outside either in the open or beneath large gazebos. The gardens surrounding the seating are beautiful. You enter the serving area and well appointed shop via the glasshouse. Ordering and paying for your food/drink you get given a numbered spoon and sit at your table. We ordered a soft drink, pot of tea for one, and a toasted tea cake. What stood out for us was the excellent service. The lady who took our order and served us in the garden was delightful. Chatty, enthusiastic, pleasant. What so many places are sadly lacking. The venue was busy. Be aware that the venue is often closed for events (weddings, anniversaries et al). Look at the website to check. A visit to this delightful cafe will not disappoint.

We visited the Italianate Greenhouse in Ramsgate on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday in April. We had decided to walk the coastal path from Ramsgate to Broadstairs and chose to stop off here as it was along the route and looked inviting. We found the greenhouse in the King George VI memorial park having climbed up from the esplanade below. We were made aware of it by some signs we found in the park, but actually located it using the mapping facility on our phones. The Italianate Greenhouse is just that, i.e. a greenhouse set up to be a tea shop with a fenced off seating area outside complete with tables and shades and some more seating actually in the greenhouse itself. At the time of our arrival, there were a good number of patrons enjoying their drinks in the early afternoon sunshine. We took a table for two outside and we ordered (and paid) for our tea at the desk just inside the main building. The teas were served to the table in a pot with attractive matching china cups, saucers and milk jug and also accompanied by a ‘Nice’ biscuit. The visitor should take the opportunity to visit the inside of the greenhouse and the main building, there is a short history of the greenhouse itself highlighting the fact that it is a ‘curved’ greenhouse and so catches the sun all day, it was certainly warm inside. Toilet facilities for patrons were available in the main building and were very clean and modern looking.A most enjoyable stop over during our coastal walk and we would not hesitate to revisit if in the area and would recommend for others to try.

This little gem is hidden away in King George V park in Ramsgate. It is a fantastic location and the Italiante Greenhouse is beautiful. Tea is served in unmatched traditional country style cups and saucers which adds to this peaceful place. I particularly recommend the Bakewell Tart and our group of 3 thought that the pot of tea for 3 and cake was excellent value for money. It is nice to know that some of our payment goes towards the cost of maintaining this beautiful structure. The young lady that served us was friendly and helpful. This tea garden attached to an ancient glasshouse, hidden away in a remote corner of King George VI Park in Ramsgate, is so charming and idyllic that it has a vaguely unreal quality. Combined with the suspiciously low prices (less than half the cost of a similar treat in Costa Coffee or Starbucks), the mismatched fancy china, delicious home-made cakes and the erratic opening hours ("The Tea Garden is open weekends on fine weather days" states the website ambigously) and its proximity to extremely basic refreshment huts in the park or on the cliffs that tend to be packed with sunburnt sandy types accompanied by screaming kids and barking dogs, you would be forgiven for imagining that you'd walked into some kind of magical tea garden wormhole which only opens when the planets are in exactly the correct conjunction, or something. There are home-woven lavender spindles, actual towels and knick-knacks in the lavatory cubicle. They put complimentary Nice biscuits in the saucers of our tea cups. We were en route to a booked lunch, or would have stayed for sandwiches which we saw passing by to other tables and which looked delicious. We shared a slice of perfect Victoria Sponge, and eyed up a tempting carrot cake. Certainly it was closed when we've tried to go in on a previous visit, leaving us pressing our noses sadly up against the bars, and our friends who live locally assure us the glasshouse is open MORE often but that the tea garden is not always operational, leaving them to wander sadly through the glasshouse wishing for cake and tea. You might want to try telephoning in advance to avoid disappointment, or if you feel lucky, head in its direction on a sunny weekend, cross your fingers, click your heels together and wish. Good luck!

You can sit here and have a scone and cup of tea at one of the tables and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Located inside a wonderful emporium, perfect for a snack or drink, while you ponder on all the super things to buy. Down side, it is upstairs, so no access for any one with mobility difficulties. Staff are nice, prices slightly steep for what you are getting, but clean.

Had a delicious meal here starters and mains, the young lad that served us was fantastic as were most of the cheerful and friendly staff and the food portions were generous. We were looking forward to returning, However it was 'suggested' Infront of the entire pub as we were leaving by the larger lady with dark hair that we hadn't paid the bill. We had been laughing with staff and were nothing but polite so can only assume she thought we were stealing due to a race issue as none of the old white people that dined there were treated in the same way. Now regret leaving a generous tip.
