We called in for lunch after a rainy run and were made to feel very welcome. Lunch was plentiful, delicious and very reasonably priced. I’d 100% come back.

Just been for dinner and we all chose the homemade pies. A proper pie filled to the brim and not a soggy bottom in sight! I’d definitely return. All topped off with friendly staff.

Have experienced both good and not so good times at this pub. Food has been great and awful, service has been friendly and cold but generally is a cute pub that's little pricey.

Met my friends here after a long time apart with the children and had a brilliant time. Wonderful outside space for the kids to play and they loved the equipment and animals. We ordered off the lunch menu and was so good, probably the best chips I've had in a long time. The staff were very attentive even though we were at the furthest point from the main building. Would definitely come back.

Brilliant night at the pub with friends. We arrived at 11:00 pm to a welcome from Gary the publican. We ordered drinks all round until midnight. Then Gary let off a firework display for us, what a lovely display appreciated by everybody. Then back into a warm pub for more drinks. A great night that saw us walk home at 2:00 in the morning. Well done Gary - again.

This was our first time for lunch, very friendly polite staff, food excellent choice, happy to have the over 60's menu again good value for the price. I had the fish and chips very good and hot, lovely chips and the fish was cod. I think we did overstay our welcome but they were polite and did not throw us out. It would be worth a trip for an evening meal, plenty of seats outside

Sooo... disappointed. Have wanted to visit The Cottage for some time now. Went this afternoon to find notices saying 'CLOSED FOR A PRIVATE FUNCTION' today and tomorrow. Oh well, plenty more places I suppose. Is this a regular thing? Sheila Eggleton

Dropped in here on a delightfully sunny weekday afternoon for a spot of lunch and some time looking at the animals. The pub was busy and we were quoted a 40 minute wait for our food. The landlord (Gary I think) took our order and deferred payment until after it was delivered. The food came out after about 25 minutes and was delivered to us at our table in the paddock. The food was amazing, I had the fish and chips which had the most amazing beer batter on it which was light and crispy. My fiancée and our daughter also had great meals. The only downside was that they didn’t have any Angostura Bitters so we couldn’t have the Lemon and Lime Bitters my fiancée wanted. I might buy them a bottle. Don’t get me wrong though this is an amazing pub. A must visit!

A so-called country village pub. Last time was disappointed that dogs not allowed in the comfortable bar, only in the so-called "sports bar". This time, a sunny summer Saturday, it's closed for a private function. I'm glad it's not my local.

Stayed here with our motor home. Owner staff and locals very friendly a proper local pub. Food was great, atmosphere relaxed and upbeat. There is hard standing or a level paddock to park in, very peaceful and spacious. We will stay again on our return journey if able. Thanks Karen

I visited the Cottage Inn with my son and daughter-in-law who are regulars there and who had told me how good the pub's food is. We were received with a friendly greeting and promptly presented with menus; our wine was brought to the table, including a very pleasant blush rosé. The food comprises pub standards plus some specials, and is very good value for money. I noticed that the loos were immaculately clean. The setting on a summer evening was delightful; there are cuddly rabbits and goats in an enclosure behind, and flowering fields to walk through. A really enjoyable evening out.

A very friendly and welcoming pub. Cosy atmosphere, open fireplaces and comfortable seating. Well kept local beer on draft and great food. There is a sports bar with good screens ideal for watching the Six Nations during the cold winter months!

Amazing food. I ordered a small adult roast dinner and was shocked when it came out, the plate was piled high. Very good quality meal. This was my first visit since I was a teenager and cannot wait to go back again. Very friendly staff. Well done to a village pub

On a very quiet service we went for a pub lunch hereThe regular sandwiches etc are available but we choose the selected specials, which although pricey for this type of pub at £10 a pop sounded goodI had ham eggs and bubble and squeak, result two pieces of processed wafer thin ham, under done eggs and really burnt potato cakeMy partner a piri piri chicken burger, result a chicken breast in a dry bun with some processed sauce and raw frozen chips, returned after the chicken had been finished with some replacementsOur little un eat from the children s menu and frankly his lasagna was inedibleThis pub has community status as being west Berkshires number one, I hope this does not include food. An absolute travesty and waste of ingredients, expensive and some where to be be avoided at all costsIn case you think I am being harsh we had previously eaten an appalling bite here which included cremated bacon and brie on partly frozen bread and when left were not even asked if something ws wrong. I post a lot of highly positive reviews and am never vindictive but this takes the biscuit

Lovely sunny garden with plenty of seating and shade. Excellent varied menu from which I chose the smoked salmon and then a ribeye steak. My partner had pigeon and then monk fish all of which arrived piping hot and was very tasty - we cleared our plates! Definitely would recommend this pub both for a drink and for food. The garden is lovely, they are dog friendly and the interior has had a stylish makeover which makes sitting inside a pleasure

A great place for a Sunday roast. The teepee out the back is huge (at least the size of the pub itself) and well worth taking a look at if not having a drink or two in it in very comfortable seats/sofas. There are two large screens in there to watch sport and on a match night would be a great atmosphere.

I came here late on a Friday with a bunch of (around 30) colleagues from a circus production company. The place only had 1 member of staff serving as they had sent the others home because it was quiet (prior to our arrival). Have to say that the guys serving us dealt with the sudden influx of theatre folk brilliantly. Everyone had an excellent few hours here and the cocktails were ace.
