We took friends out for lunch on our first visit and although the pub was clean the food was very very disappointing for the price. Will not be going back!

Visited this restaurant as they used to offer cheap oap meals on a Wednesday. However their has been a change of owner and these are no longer available. The restaurant has been refurbished and looks a lot nicer now, the waiting staff were also an improvement on the previous owners. They offer a wide range of traditional pub food.I opted for nachos as a starter, followed by sausages and mash which were both very enjoyable.

Visited at 12 midday 22 August with family members and asked what was soup of the day. It was a choice between tomato and mixed vegetables. I asked for tomato soup with brown bread. I could barely believe that I was served canned tomato soup (very like Campbells?) with one toasted halved slice of white bread) My daughter's club sandwich was ordered on brown bread and she was served white sliced bread.I feel sad for the residents of Garsington as this is now their only pub. Clearly they were voting with their feet and the car park and pub were empty apart from us. 3 Horseshoes you need to up your game or you will be pulling down the shutters very soon. I can open a can of soup myself and for £3.95 enjoyed a whole loaf of decent bread with it.

Sadly this was the worst meal I have ever had.We had booked and ordered ahead for a colleagues leaving lunch. The meals took ages to arrive and arrived over the space of 45 minutes and one person is still waiting for his.He turned out to be lucky as all the meals without exception were inedible. The Ploughmans consisted of grated cheese, triangles of white thinly sliced bread some wilted lettuce,a few cocktail pickled onions and gherkins. One didn't know wether to laugh or cry. What was once a pleasant venue should now be avoided at all costs. It was dire.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for quick late lunch with my boyfriend. Lots of parking, pub was reasonably empty. When waiting at the bar there was nobody there, seemed to be people chatting around the corner. Eventually somebody saw us and called a man to serve us, he took our food and drinks order, paid and said we were outside. After an hour, there was no sign of our food. Went in to complain (as we just wanted our money back to go elsewhere), the barmaid said we shouldn’t have waited that long and we should’ve came in earlier to check on our food !!! (Why on earth would you check how your foods doing after you’ve paid for a service?!?) she then checked in the kitchen and apparently we never made a food order... after this the man who took our order walked in, we said he took our order and he said he didn’t know who we were and we hadn’t ordered food!!! after 5 minutes proving we did order food (and not £25 on just 2 drinks) he then took £20 out of the till and slapped it in my hand and walked off! He just didn’t put our food through to the kitchen. So frustrating and rude. The table near the bar had food and it looked disgusting, so really we weren’t missing out on much. Really would avoid.

Went here for a last minute bite to eat. I’m often skeptical about roast dinners in pubs, so decided to have the fish and chips instead. The fish batter was over cooked but it was better than my friends’ roasts, which consisted of very dry beef (cooked until grey) and soggy vegetables. It was like travelling back to the 90s.

We went here for Sunday lunch and although the menu is extensive I opted for the Sunday roast where you help yourself to the vegetables and gravy and my husband chose the beef curry from the ‘specials’ board. After a while the waitress Claire (who was lovely and friendly by the way) came and explained that the beef curry was a little dry and suggested my husband chose another dish so he opted for the roast too. Our meat arrived on a plate which was a chicken breast cooked until it was totally dry. When it came to getting the vegetables, we found that the roast potatoes were white and hard, almost dry roasted but not for long enough. There was broccoli and cauliflower and an empty tray although we were promised that some fresh carrots and peas were on their way. There was no gravy so we sat down with our dry meal and attempted to eat it without causing a fuss but we couldn’t as it was tasteless so we had to ask Claire for gravy and reminded her about the rest of the vegetables. She kindly obliged and went into the kitchen to chase them up and somebody brought them out within a few minutes. The carrots and peas had I think been cooked together and therefore just didn’t taste right. Anyway suffice to say Sunday lunch was not a good choice and we won’t be going back. Also something to note, which I only discovered half way through my meal on a visit to the toilet; if the kitchen is as dirty as the toilets then they probably shouldn’t be preparing food in there. Had I seen the toilets first I wouldn’t have ordered!

Popped in for lunch today, first time in months. New management have added a lick of paint but stripped out most of the decor in the dining room. What struck me so much was how rude the bar lady was. Not one single please, thank you or courtesy ("enjoy your meal" too much to ask?). She was much more interested in her friends (ignoring screaming infant). Despite this, my sandwich was actually okay, though this was the same as the one from the old menu and not the new smokehouse affair which I'm very sceptical about. Skinny fries chewy and underdone. Roll on the next change of management…

Tired and stressed after a hard day, we decided to treat ourselves to a meal out. What a poor decision that turned out to be. I ordered bangers and mash. My partner ordered steak and ale pie. My son ordered fish and chips. The meals were almost £10 each, so I had high hopes. After a lengthy wait I enquired. The fish and chips looked good and was gobbled up. However, my sausages were burnt and my partner's steak and ale pie resembled something akin to a puff pastry steak burger! Whilst the ingredients were good, there was no gravy in the pie at all. The mashed potato was raw and barely edible. When I went to the bar to complain and asked for a refund. The landlady fetched the chef, who was rude, dismissive and beligerent. He told us, 'this is bullsh*t' and stormed off. The landlady slammed £20 into my partner's hand. We left never to return while the pub is under its current management.

14 of us prebooked lunch today and brought in our orders on Monday. I needed to make an amendment to my order so called them this morning. I was told it's ok as we have been given any orders. It turns out they lost them. I arrived early to book my food as they said there was no longer gammon on the menu. I ordered a ham ploughmans at about 12.20. Eventually the rest of the group arrived and we sat down to eat at around 1.30pm. A few people had starters but one person sent thier soup back as it was so bad and another hardly touched theirs as it was tasteless. Around 2pm the mains started coming out, one by one with big gaps in between. Just 3 of us left to be served at 2.20pm. One was told they were just cooking his sausages, myself and one other were told that they didn't have any ham so did we want cheese or bacon instead. We both chose to get refunds and go home hungry. It took two hours for the kitchen to decide it had no ham...... yes it does sound like a joke, but true. There were only two other people in the pub. We were not offered anything for our inconvenience and those that ate had to pay the full amount. Needless to say none of us will be returning, but we will spread the word in the locality to try and stop other people wasting thier time. The sausage and mash looked very ropey, about half way through that they brought the diner some gravy and bullet peas. The only edible part were the sausages. The salad was brown and wilting and not very imaginative. Perhaps the owner should close down until they can find someone capable of running a kitchen.

A group of us from our over 55's gym class went along for a lunch to celebrate the birthday of our instructor. We'd all given our orders previously so there'd be the correct amount of food. Unfortunately, the order was never passed on to the kitchen in advance and some of our party missed out altogether on food. The food that was served was good though, and generously proportioned. Also unfortunately, the serving of the food took far too long with some of the group finishing their mains before others had even received theirs. 2 of the group were informed as others were finishing that the food they'd ordered had 'run out', which is surprising as when the order went to the kitchen they should've had some idea. Such a shame, I felt embarrassed for the woman in our group who organised the lunch. We all agreed that we'd never go back here. Find another pub if you can, don't go to this one.

Came across this pub last year by chance when visiting friends locally. Lovely french inspired menu served by a french waiter and we had to eat out in the garden as the place was so busy. Having checked trip advisor it appeared the same, but unfortunately its under new ownership and was almost empty which spoke volumes. Menu choice is now poor and could have been from any old pub and the service was dismal with lots of apologising for slowness. This didn't make for a relaxing or enjoyabe experience especially when the staff tell you that it's usually better! A real disappointment.

While enjoying a regular weekly evening out with friends at this once thriving village pub, I encountered the wrath of a rather chippy bar person who insisted that I needed to make it eminently clear to her that I required a further drink whilst sitting at the bar....in a pub. For whatever reason, the art of customer service seemed anathema to her and after begrudgingly pouring me a third pint, when I had clearly asked for a half, the entire episode became my fault. Being made to feel uncomfortable and unwanted in a country pub that desperately needs clients and which I have supported for nigh on 20 years is, I am afraid to say, the final straw. Accordingly, I will now not hesitate in dissuading others from frequenting this establishment. As I stated in the title...appalling customer service and I would heartily recommend that the management review their current bar person recruitment policy, thus ensuring that staff understand their role when engaging with their clients, the general public.

The menu has changed to more regular pub food, with a good selection of quorn-based dishes for veggies and I think I remember the mention of gluten free Yorkshire puds. All the mains were of a good size and the beef goulash was a particular favourite. I didn't have room for a dessert but others are them with delight.I'd heartily recommend a visit. Please be aware the pub has changed hands and they only offer terrible food. Since when did pub food mean inedible. Friendly service was offered and was good but the food is dire. This pub had such great hope with the previous landlady and is such a shame that it had been left to go this way. The brewery clearly want this pub to fail so they can develop the land

We booked this pub not realising it had recently changed hands. We went expecting fresh food with a hint of French cuisine. Instead we had deep fried processed food and slow service. Service with a smile though it must be said. Chicken 'burgers' were chicken breadcrumbed or battered - couldn't tell which but were bright yellow. Veggie burger was straight out of a packet and again deep fried, served totally alone in a bun. The bun was a sesame seeded processed bun and was still frozen. Ratatouille was a tin of tomatoes with some aubergine and onions in chopped very small with some processed cheese on top. Salad garnish was generous but undressed. Fish and chips was OK. Drinks were good! Food was basic pub grub.

The new management was able to honour this booking very shortly after taking on the pub.A memorable day: warm, friendly, excellent service and food. The staff could not have been kinder or more willing to help. Possibly the best wedding reception I have been to.

Appreciate that the pub only reopened this week after very tragic circumstances of the previous tenants. They have a hard act to follow but we were keen to support the new people so booked for Sunday lunch. It was explained to us on the phone that the card machine was not working and we needed to take cash.We arrived at the pub and were shown a table and if was obvious it was a family run business so we hoped it would be good. Our drinks arrived fairly promptly and we ordered our meal. There was a table of four people next to us who were discussing the issue of no card machine. They asked the landlady why and she explained there was a problem. One of the customers joked oh dear how will we pay the bill and she offered them desserts on the house. We could not help but overhear as the tables were only a few inches apart.I was rather annoyed as wehad bought cash as requested but we were not offered the same!!!!!! The meal arrived and the food was good but when we went to pay the bill there were problems with the tills(run out of till role) and I offered feedback on the issue of the dessert. The young lady replied she didn't know what her mother had offered anyone so couldn't comment.I also should mention that I do not agree with dogs, other than guide dogs in dining areas and pubs need to tell people if they do allow them so you can choose not to frequent the premises.

This is a great idea - village pub doesn't es French Bistro. Should be great. But for me, it just missed. I had the steak hache and it was OK but this was no gourmet burger. We'll go back because it's close, and I hope it was just an off day

This is our second visit here since it changed hands and again we have left very pleased. Our meal was excellent with really vibrant flavours and well presented. The service was great, the French waiter and waitress really made us welcome and gave a brilliant service. Will definitely be returning soon.

My husband and I went for a Friday lunchtime meal. We were unaware that the pub had changed hands since our last visit but we were very pleasantly surprised with everything we experienced. Our waiter (French) was friendly and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food we had but both especially enjoyed the pork main course. I particularly admired the internal decoration which I thought looked really attractive with some very pretty pieces such as vintage cake stands. We will definitely be returning and possibly in the evening next time.

This pub has been struggling for years, with a succession of tenants who didn't really know what to do with it. I am immensely relieved that it has been taken over by someone who really knows what they are doing. What a transformation! We went to the Bank Holiday event with bands and readings in the gardens, barbecue, crepes, beer/cider/pimms tent, garden games, Aunt Sally and a bouncy castle. There was a lovely family atmosphere and people had brought picnic blankets and camping chairs. We had a variety of crepes between us, the children loved watching them being made. All were delicious. A great range of alternatives for veggies (the standard menu looks rather thin for non meat-eaters).The place was so busy, there were queues for food and drinks but they moved fairly quickly. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the whole place felt happy and relaxed. The inside has been refurbished and is now more French Bistro the village pub, but it really makes a welcome change. As previously, the toilets are tiny, with the disabled facilities separate from the others. Now they are clean and fresh.Given the positive changes and other reviews, I'd suggest booking before you go. Its lovely to see it thriving.

This pub was great about twenty years ago but has been limping along with various reincarnations since then. We have heard many good things since the new people took over in July. Tonight we had the chance to see for ourselves. It was really busy in the restaurant and had a real buzz about the place. We arrived a bit early but were shown to our table. We were served drinks but then had to wait quite a while to order, maybe because we were early. We could see that people were enjoying their food.I am vegetarian and as in most French style restaurants there was very little choice for me but for everyone else the choice is good. I had the only starter that was vegetarian which was a goats cheese tart. It was really nice with provencale vegetables under the goats cheese and good pastry. My husband had smoked duck and chicken with walnuts and raspberry coulis which he really enjoyed. When it came to main course, again, as a vegetarian, I only had one choice which was a Mexican bean burger with sweet potato fries, this came in a bun, which after pastry for my starter was a little heavy but it was fine. My husband had steak and peppercorn sauce which he enjoyed. We didn't have room for dessert. As we live locally we would like to visit on a regular basis as the atmosphere was so good but unfortunately due to the limited choice for vegetarians we might have to go less often, but we will definitely go back as it was a pleasant evening.

Had a great meal with spicy king prawns served Spanish style with garlic and olive oil to start followed by Bœuf Bourgignon à la Michel. Very hot meal but great (the wife said she would prefer more potatoes and less carrots in hers) but it was fine for me. Very busy pub and very popular. Not sure about the pub's dog walking about the restaurant as it does not bother me but no doubt some people will moan about that, all in all a lovely venue.

I visited the Three Horseshoes last week and had an excellent meal with great friendly service from the new owners and their staff. This will become a 'must visit' pub very quickly and I will return as soon as possible! Good choice of menu to suit most tastes together with a good selection of beers and wines at competitive prices. Recommended!!

When we arrived at The Three Horseshoes it looked like any other run of the mill pub and when I had looked on the website it seemed to show typical pub grub. However, when we entered we had an excellent surprise - the place had been taken over by the people behind The Old Bookbinders (which I most certainly will visit now) and it now serves excellent French cuisine. Our waiter, who was French, was absolutely lovely and one of the best waiters I have ever had - attentive, welcoming and friendly. There were so many delicious sounding items on the menu. In the end, I went for the roast of the day which was lamb, and my boyfriend had a burger. Both were beautifully presented and huge portions. We really enjoyed our meal, the pub was nice and homely inside and the service was the best! There is a nice garden as well, and although a little out of the way, I would certainly recommend stopping by here if you can.

This pub is absolutely fantastic. It's been newly renovated since being taken over by new owners in July 2016. It's welcoming and friendly and the staff are really fantastic. Great selection of beers and lagers and the wine looked good too, although I didn't have any, so can't comment. We went for a family dinner after a weekend of DIY and weren't disappointed. The Beef Bourguignon was absolutely delicious, and served steaming hot. Burgers went down a treat too. Everything we had was just divine. Bill of £80 for four adults including drinks, 1 starter, 4 mains, 2 desserts and 2 coffees. Bargain. Come here for a very warm welcome, wonderful food and a fantastic experience.Wheelchair accessible and disabled toilet too.

The new owners of this local pub have not only redecorated but have transformed the restaurant.A flavour if France in a lively village setting but close enough to Oxford City for all to enjoy. The menu is varied enough to suit most people but is miles away from the pub grub if previous landlords. The staff were very attentive and efficient even though it was a busy Saturday evening.I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Busy Friday lunchtime in a lovely setting. Great variety of choices of a French variety...I chose from the fabulous crepes menu. I went rather off-piste by choosing the marmite and cheese crepe. It was just up my street. There were plenty of the more expected fillings but who wants to have what you know?Very friendly service, reasonably priced and coffee to savour, which is unusual in a rural setting. I loved it. I gather the pub has recently changed hands and the website I am looking at doesn't yet match the delicious fare.

Michel & Jacky Sadones, well known to those of us that enjoy The Old Bookbinders in Jericho, have done a splendid job revamping The Three Horseshoes in Garsington. This spacious, comfortable pub, with a large garden with wonderful views, now offers a full French menu varying from Michel's famous crepes, burgers and steaks, to generous portions of Boeuf Bourguignon and Blanquette de Porc Normande. We particularly enjoyed our starters of Crevettes a l'Espagnol and La Poulaillere, a wonderful concoction of smoked duck and chicken with walnuts. All in all, excellent value for money and dog friendly too. We'll be back.

From the outside this looks like a run of the mill Greene King pub which may put people off. But inside this pub is a gem. If you are tired of traditional pub grub then give this a try - you won't be disappointed. I was a little hesitant when I heard it was now a French restaurant but I am so glad I gave it a try. The garlic bread starter was superb, the tuna main course with Niçoise salad was huge and the fish was done to perfection. As for the desserts.......they were simply to die for. My wife and I had a shared starter, main course, dessert and drinks all for under £50. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was great and we can't wait to return. Every time I looked around me empty plates were being returned to the restaurant - always a good sign! We have been in the village for 7 years and this is the first time we have been to the Three Horseshoes. It certainly won't be another 7 years before we return!I cannot rate this place highly enough - give it a go - you WILL not be disappointed. Bon appetit!

Our preferred city centre coffee shop, obviously it's a chain so not a million miles from other Costa cafes, however the staff at the didcot one are particularly excellent, friendly and chatty even when it's busy.

I love this place, I hate the fact that people treat restaurant like this as a sandwich place where they can get their food in 5 min, must change your mentality otherwise use Waitrose or get your pack lunch and sit on the main site, always happy to be here, very friendly people and delicious food, will always come back.

I had a late lunch in The Red Lion this lunchtime. First time I had been in the pub in 5 years but with new management and hearing great things since the new owners took over I was keen to give it a try. Bar staff were very welcoming to me and my Cavapoo. Lovely friendly atmosphere and spotlessly clean. I ordered a scampi, fries and peas. It was delicious and too much for me to finish it. I will definitely be back soon with the family 👍🏼

We have always liked the food and service in Harvesters. Always been loyal customers. However, our most recent experience was not great at all. The place was busy, the salad bar was quite empty and the food took a much longer time to arrive which we could excuse as a one-off. But some of the food was not cooked through unfortunately, which believe it or not, again we sort of excused as staff apologised and replaced it. What we cannot overlook however was the menu has changed and unfortunately all the tasty parts of the food have been replaced with hard, tasteless freezer food. Prices have gone up too, which is understandable but they should not have messed with the quality of the food. The chicken, the hash browns were not soft and succulent as before. The nice onion ring was replaced by hard and cold cheese jalapeño rings. Totally different food experience now. We are not going to go back in a hurry, let's just say. Really sad as we did like frequenting it over the last few years.
