The quality of food was rather disappointing. Rump steaks were have ordered were literally burned to coal. Portions were also surprisingly small as for adults. Not to mention the length of awaiting for food. Generally nice place but some improvements would be very welcomed.

We dined here for Sunday Lunch last week (6/10/24) for a family get together/70th birthday celebration. My wife and I have two children, one is allergic to Shellfish & Molluscs and the other has allergies to egg, nuts, peanuts and sesame, as you can imagine we don't get to eat out that often. Prior to last week, we were given a choice of 8 possible places to eat, with my wife carefully doing the research required for us to eat out, away from the comfort and safety of our own home. We chose the Six Bells as they were in our opinion and by an absolute clear mile! the best and safest option. From start to finish, their attention to detail was outstanding! Both my wife and I were so impressed, if we lived closer we'd eat here all the time! The food was also delicious, forgot that bit! A massive thank you to David and his team.

Having recently moved to the area, we finally decided to visit The 6 Bells in Thame after seeing an advert for their new fixed-price menu in September. We took our newborn along in a pram, and the team couldn’t have been more accommodating—they made sure we were comfortable and well looked after from the moment we arrived. The menu was excellent value for money, offering a great selection of dishes that were cooked to perfection. Every course felt thoughtfully prepared, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A special mention goes to Gen, who provided exceptional service throughout. She was attentive, friendly, and a real credit to The 6 Bells. Her warm hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend The 6 Bells to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience in Thame!

Has a most enjoyable evening with family. A beautiful historic building with lots of atmospheric charm. Food came swiftly and piping hot. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, including a good vegan option for my daughter. I highly recommend the fish and chips! Will definitely visit again. Only negative was the ladies toilets were untidy and the only available toilet didn't flush! Would have given 5 stars overall, if it hadn't been for this problem.

Went for Sunday lunch, ordered the duo roast which is £4 extra than the beef roast however you get less beef and a small portion of chicken which was extremely dry! Beef over cook full of sinew and only one slice given per plate, the beef roast is 3 slices so the maths doesn’t quite add up. Yorkie is massive but so dry and crispy everyone’s was the same so it wasn’t a one off looks great but no flavour and that sums up the whole roast no flavour no texture won’t be returning.

The Six Bells in Thame is a fabulous place to eat or just have a drink. The pub itself is full of character and spotlessly clean with a great outside area, including a charming ‘barn’ undercover section with heaters and plenty of tables in the sunshine. What really tops it for me is the great team who work so hard to make you feel welcome. Naomi, Gen & Charlotte are an absolute credit to The Bells, they always give a genuine warm welcome and fantastic service. Thank you Team Bells, we will be back!

Visited with friends. Great service very friendly and patient as we had arrived early for a catch up before eating . Intended to sit in bar but was allowed to go to table. Staff were attentive and helpful. Variety of food ordered: fillet steak on special - very good quality and cooked as asked, fish pie- excellent, steak & ale pie very good as was the burger. All had ‘mini’ puds but not that mini . All in all very good would come again. My only criticism would be the heating , considering energy bills I was surprised to find the heating full on , it was very hot and other tables seemed to be suffering too , fanning & trying to open a window. We managed to turn our rad off but didn’t really help with area in the back.

Four of us visited Six Bells for Christmas Party menu. The whole experience was excellent. The soup starter delicious, the tiramisu and Christmas pudding desserts excellent, but the main star of the show was the turkey roast which was very generously portioned, lovely turkey, plenty of gorgeous roasties and loads of well-cooked sprouts. Plenty of gravy. Compliments to the chef Nothing was too much trouble, the service was friendly and attentive. Service is nothing to complain about and the pub itself is nice. But the food is an absolute scam of money. Portion sizes are ridiculously small as if the six bells is some sort of fine dining Michelin star experience (its not) and for what I paid (£20 for what were essentially three sides, which was supposedly a 3 for 2 deal..) what I got was nothing special and so small in size it was just comical. The other items on the menu suffered from the same symptoms (namely absurd prices for small and uninspiring meals), I would recommend eating pub food somewhere else.

Driving down to London, we decided to break our journey and booked in for lunch. We were made very welcome and taken to our table. Not a wide selection of real ales, no ESB (which was a shame) so I had London Pride. The soup starter, pean and mint, was lovely. After being assured the vegan plant burger was cooked on a separate grill to the meat and fish, I settled on the vegan burger for my main meal. My wife ordered the fish and chips. Both meals were substantial, freshly cooked and enjoyed. Excellent and attentive service, excellent meal. Inside and outside dining. Would definitely return if in the area. We were going to an opera staged in the local church so were looking for a “pre-theatre” supper - the Six Bells was ideal. Booked for 6pm - we were taken to a good table by attentive young man who took drinks order and gave us menus. Young woman took orders of crunchy prawns and squid (which we shared) served with a salad and aioli… Mains: we had a burger (beautifully cooked beef) and the special hot smoked salmon salad. Glasses of Côte du Rhône complemented the food - and we left a few minutes after 7 to get to the opera. Couldn’t have been better!

Pub is much bigger than it appears, there is a separate building to the rear and a large beer garden. Lovely atmosphere and comfortable to spend some time in. Great pints on tap. Prices seemed on a par with those in the local area - not exactly a bargain, but my meal was worth every penny!
