Updated - whilst not the cheapest chippy around, vastly improved since the new management

£12 for cod that had obviously been sat in the heating tray for some time. The cod was really very greasy and the chips were incredibly dry like they'd been sat for a while. Go somewhere else if you can.

Ordered for delivery, said 55 minutes. Was nearly 2 hrs! Food was cold, and onions rings had gone soggy! Never again!

Customer service was amazing, friendly environment, food fresh and warm. Highly recommend.

Somewhat a shame their service is poor. The food is a bit hit and miss too. Had a small cod and chips, lots of over cooked small scraps in the chips and the cod was half the size of the batter it came in which was a shame. Be aware, If you order online, the last 2 out of 3 orders we made were not delivered and on the last occasion I had to drive there and ask where my food was after waiting more than 2hours. Eventually they realised their mistake but not before a few heated exchanges which proved we were right. They did refund us 50% of the order without asking which was a good offer on their part. We were not looking for compensation, just a good meal after a bereavement in the family as nobody felt like cooking. Let's hope lessons have been learned and next time is better.

This place is hoppin! You enter the right door and wait inside or out the door on the left. We ordered the large cod. It could feed a couple people because the cod was HUGE and there were a ton of fries. Sadly they didn’t give out any sauce, but the batter on the cod was incredible. We ate it in the park behind the restaurant. I recommend stopping by if you are visiting or staying in Oxford.

Tried the fish and chips tonight. The large cod was half batter and no fish. The cod roe was dry and half the size. No curry sauce available. Chips ok. Sad as I wanted to support them rather than a chip van that arrives once a week. Unfortunately never again. Worse than the previous owners.

Clearly says on there opening hours for a Sunday 4pm - 8pm but they were closed. This has completely ruined the plan for all our family.

Decided to go to this chip shop as the reviews said it was noice. Avoided the chiken due to reviews and cheesy chips seemed like a bad idea due to hair content. That said, the pickled egg was first class. Now, on to the most pressing part. We seemed to upset the highly regimented flow of customers by queuing from the end of the shop with the feet printed on the floor. Apparently this is wrong. There is an unwritten rule only known to Wallingford yocals around this queuing system, and we were duly informed that we don't know Wallingford. Sadly, we must have missed the tourist information board detailing this integral part of public life in Wallingford as, if we had known, we could have avoided the public outcry for us to leave. Food was quite noice. Staff also very nice (if not also irked by the queue disruption). Recommend a visit, queue from right to avoid local fury.

Food was amazing. I’ve got probably one of the best tasting chicken wraps and halloumi fries was great as well. The only thing that delivery time took a bit longer than estimated on JustEat but food was great in the end. Highly recommend

We have just had fish and chips in Wallingford Friday the 21st of April. It is the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The batter was solid never again. Very disappointed

Worst kebab ever. I was sick after chicken. Lamb not available. Over £10 for the bad chicken kebab? My advise, stick to fish and chips it may be ok.

I wouldn't recommend! Ordered large cod with chips, small cod with chips and mushy peas, payed £20.70. Lady told me its almost ready and i was waiting 15 min, they must of lost a ticket because she asked me what i ordered when she called me. At home I opened the bag and there was large cod with chips and just chips in the other order, no fish! How can you mess up such a simple order? Very disappointing

Over priced dog food, doner and chips with a battered sausage was £13 odd.

Over priced and really bad quality , would rather get food from petrol station

First time customer. Had a superb fish supper tonight. Ordered a well done large cod and it was cooked fresh to order, lovely and golden and crispy and a generous helping of chips which were hot and tasty fresh from the fryer. Mushy peas were really nice and the curry sauce was equally good. OK, so it's not cheap - but the meal served two hungry adults to satiety.

We have never been disappointed with Smarts fish & chips, we had them last night. they are the best in the area. We travel to get them as we can’t find good fish & chips locally. We literally sit by the river in Wallingford , so we can have them fresh.

Seems to have changed management recently, noticeable drop in quality, soggy chios, soggy batter, binned most of it.

Moist fish, tasty chips and decent portion sizes.

Fish good but on the past few occasions the chips were poor. Probably reheated as soft and not hot.

Awful services, charged the incorrect prices and given incorrect items, will not use again avoid unless desperate. Staff rude and unhelpful

It’s gone very badly downhill since it changed hands.

I’ve given this place a few tries and it’s very hit and miss, more miss than hit. Chips are often stale and items seem like they have been reheated. The portion size is extremely disappointing and the price does not reflect this. I would 100% avoid and spend your money elsewhere! Definitely worth the trip further afield in future, I won’t be returning.

Was ok food is good could be better

Great chippy, some of the nicest chips you'll find anywhere. Sometimes a bit of a wait as much is cooked to order which is great because everything is nice and fresh. You can now order in advance to collect.

A bit of a wait as they got about 40 fish & Chip deliveries out but, well worth it. Really enjoyed them.

You should try it you would love it 😀👌🏻I eat here often as they are friendly always got a smile on you get to know them as I have the genuine people so I i’ve been coming here for about three years since I’ve lived in Wallingford and wouldn’t go anywhere else

Okayish, not impressed with kebab

Hi, i just ordered a chicken kebab for takeaway with GARLIC sauce... not bbq, not ketchup Garlic !!! Is that too hard to remember. I had to throw it away.. thank you’ve should of let me know!! Instead of looking at me ehat im going to do!! Thank you Yeah forget to mention how poor was it Large chicken with just few bites of chiken, salad been there for ages and bbq sauce which I didn’t ask for!!

Since the new people have come in, the place has gone right down hill. Ordered cheesy chips and something in them was stinking, had to Chuck them out. If it looks like vomit, smells like vomit and tastes like vomit, it’s probably vomit. F*** off.

What a surprise, haven't had fish n chips in a very long time. Had some tofu types, but this was really good. Chips sadly not amazing but the Vish was great. Also tried some of the other vegan options. Really nice that they cook separately too and they delivered it. Thanks so much.

It's good food but yesterday was the 3rd or 4th time they messed up my order by missing out a full portion of chips

Ordered to takeaway online on the 24th December, it was quick and easy to do. As soon as I arrived at the designated time the food was ready straight away. Staff were very friendly and smiley The food was fantastic, perfectly cooked chips and fish. Two portions of small Cod and Chips and two portions of large Cod and Chips. The portions we received were very generous! We could not fault it! Will definitely be going there again!

Saturday lunch - fish and chips both available immediately and both hot and tasty. Good chips, awesome fish with batter that was on the thick side.

This was the worst fish we have ever had. completely dried up and virtually inedible. It must have been sitting on the rack for ages. I don't know if it has changed hands as it always used to be so good.

Very poor. The chips were burnt, and I'm guessing the oil is old. The sausage it batter wasn't crispy, it was soft. Very disappointed with the food and I certainly won't be eating from there again. On a positive note, my drink from the fridge was cold.

Ok , Friday night they are busy, but used to be really good. Order taken then nearly half hour wait. 4 items plus chips. Includes haddock which needs to cooked so wait. But then another customer wants haddock and they get served and leave. Wait then happens again a couple of times. Why we're we standing there waiting. Unbelievably incompetent.

Not a long queue, ordered with lady who just about understood my English order of fishcake and chips and waited patiently for chips to be cooked. Was appalled by the bull fighting on their large tv, suggested maybe they could turn it over to something less unusual in a animal loving country, either didn't understand me or didn't care.Chips and fishcake were ok, will not be going back as they think bull fighting ok :0(

We were staying in Wallingford with friends at Bridge Villa camp site. We would not go back to Smart Fish & Chip Shop because, the guy didn't understand his own menu, when we got our meals back to our caravan, the order was wrong, but it was to far to walk back and complain. The chips were warmed up and disgusting and the burger buns were hard and stale

this is your usual fish and chip shop with a fairly good menu with fish/pies/chicken/ sauces and soft drinks on offer the prices are competitive for the area it gets very busy around 5/6oclock so be prepared to queue

Great chippy. Been loads of times and it’s always been fresh and very tasty.

Felt like the fish was so oily and the chips were so irregular and sticking together because they were so lacking in crispiness. Batter wasn't so good. Feeding exercise rather than eating for pleasure. sausage my son had also had bits of bone in.

Not found a fish and chip shop in the county that can cook fish like on the coast ! Only went here the once and won't do again.

Generic fish and chip shop with big portion sizes for a fair price. The staff here are very nice and it seems like they are very popular with the locals. It does not have any seating but there is a park nearby where I sat to eat. The food is very tasty, and the service is very fast- you can find yourself in a queue out of the door and then be served in a few minutes!

Purchased a large cod & chips today, 6th August, and was most disappointed.The fish was lying in the hot case on top of the fryer for, I think, some considerable time. The batter was soggy, as was the fish, and not fresh & crispy as one would expect. Also, the skin was still on the fish, which shouldn’t happen. The chips, although plentiful, were well past their best.All that can be said for the meal was there was plenty of it - but the quality was poor. Won’t be using this takeaway again!

Was passing while out with partner we both agreed the food was very nice I had chips and savaloy which both tasted fab partner had kebab the bread used was exceptional and it was with thick cuts of meat staff where very friendly and chatty 👍

Was in around 5 today to be Served reheated chips left over From lunch service. They are absolutely disgusting - soggy, tasteless. This isn’t the first time it’s happened either. Everything else - fish, sausage in batter was fine. Definitely will not be going back
