Very disappointed, family came over from England & I said how good the food was but it was a disappointment for £200. The turkey roast tasted like processed turkey, the pie of the day was chicken & bacon, should have been called carrot pie with a hint of chicken, the dirty fries with chicken, the chicken was so overcooked it was inedible as it was so hard, the turkey burger was the same dry as a bone. Extremely disappointing.

This is a delightful English pub, serving great pub food alongside excellent ales, lagers and wines. The staff were highly efficient and very friendly, without being intrusive. We are flying from Heathrow tomorrow and wanted a good meal before retiring to our hotel; this did not disappoint, in fact it’s our second visit and certainly won’t be our last. Thank you!

I normally have a good experience here but i was spoken to like an animal today, absolutely appalling attitude from a boy at the bar called Leo. They’ve lost a regular customer unfortunately and should reconsider who they’re letting become manager - so unprofessional!

I want to share my extreme disappointment and disgust at the service received when attending your Denham branch for our Christmas dinner today We arrived at 2pm for our 2:15 sitting which we first waited for 45 minutes to be seated until we finally was seated after questioning the wait twice When being seated we arrived at our table to find we had a table for 6 when we had booked our table for 7 plus a high chair. When we described this to the lady who was seating everyone she said that’s the only table we have available so nothing that can be done and she made a mistake with the table Which was clearly too small for 7 people and a high chair (picture attached) This does not need much more explanation as I have attached a picture of what the high chair we was given which was nothing short of a disgrace (picture attached) During our whole meal not one server attended our table despite us being seated next to the carvery in the walkway of everyone which meant our crackers and starters were never collected from the table and was not visited once (picture attached) One of our guests ordered a salmon wellington for a main course we never turned up at all even when we questioned it with the server it still did not arrive The customer service we received, the lack of care to just do the basics on our visit like clearing a table and having a clean high chair to sit in, to be served the food which we had paid and not have to ask for it and still not receive the food we ordered and to not make a mistake of being seated on a smaller table and be told that’s the only option we have To say this experience ruined our Christmas Day is an understatement we this was our first Christmas eating out as a family and will be our last given what we experienced stay away at all costs

A lovely open modern barn building, with (very unusual and appealing) gifty merchandise at one end and the cafe/restaurant at the other end. If you don't like big open plan then this isn't the place for you. Tasteful interior, with very nice seating, clean and bright. it is a 'take a tray and pay at the till' place, using your table number for ordering hot food. I have to say that although I only had a jacket potato it was the best I've ever had anywhere. My fellow diners agreed that the food quality was very good and good value. This really is a lovely location for a nursery and garden centre, even approaching down the long winding drive is very rural and atmospheric. There is a delightful and historical feel to the areas where plants are kept, as there are tall walls and the way the plants are laid out for sale makes it feel like you are walking around an interesting walled garden. A really nice place to spend a while if you are a keen gardener, with very healthy and some unusual plants.

Excellent place very clean lovely staff nothing was too much bother for them service was very good and so was the meal we had, mine was a lovely breakfast wrap with chips my husband had a small breakfast cooked and served to perfection a big thank you to the chef and of course the wonderful staff especially the kind waitress who very kindly opened the disabled toilet for me. We had not been to Newbury for while but we will be certainly making another visit, and of course making another visit to The Hatchet Inn.

There are about 8 staff in the cafe, however, the time taken to .prepare drinks that are hot was insufferably long. Staff perfectly nice but pretty much ineffective. Most places make your drink while you wait but they seemed to have a ridiculous wait time, mine was 12 minutes. This meant that my "kept warm in a cabinet" pasty was luke warm at best by the time my coffee was ready, and I had to ask for it to be exchanged for a hot one, adding.to the waiting.time for those behind me in the queue. There was also an issue with dhot drinks served in take away cups for "outsde" although I explained I was sitting in the National trust seating area, I was not allowed a china cup, because they " get left outside". I did point out that there were many customers leaving their crockery and cutlery on tables inside as they left and they were not being.penalised, the staff member explained it was National Trust Policy.....stupid policy!

Visited Thursday 2nd Jan just for a coffee. It was fairly busy and only 2 staff serving but they were quick in taking orders.we were told there was only one coffee machine working which then stopped working when we went to use it. Spoke to staff who got someone to sort it out promptly unfortunately it still didn't do hot chocolate. Also no stirrers but after complaining we were given desert spoons to stir drinks. As the norm with all Wetherspoon's clearing of tables a tad slow. All staff should be told to pick up any empty items when they take orders out. The building is very quirky and the wooden horse is great

I have been visiting for the past 28 or so years - lovely quaint tearoom - decor not changed at all but this is the way I like it - lovely private garden - I always have the brown fruit scones which are lovely and their welsh rarebit is really tasty - yes its expensive but worth it - no nasties in the food!
