Browns Bar & Brasserie Oxford in Oxford

Enjoyed a perfect supper out at the elegant yet relaxed bistro Browns. Johnathan our waiter was so gentle efficient and polite which added to our pleasure. What a lovely atmosphere!

Ravioli not available and yet veg curry with similar ingredients was? Food clearly then not freshly made. Settled for pan fried chicken’stew’. One of the worse restaurant meals I have ever had the misfortune to taste. Won’t be returning.

The best birthday ever!! Ilyas was fantastic, providing exceptional service and really making the day special. The lobster was absolutely beautiful, perfectly cooked and delicious. As for the bottomless brunch—it was truly bottomless! We never ran out of Champagne, and it kept flowing throughout. Thanks, Ilyas, for making it a birthday to remember. Couldn't have asked for a better celebration!

My wife & I visited Browns with another couple & had a very enjoyable Thursday lunch. We hadn't been to Browns for quite a while so were delighted to see that the restaurant had been refurbished in 2022 & very nicely done out as well - though we just had to get used to the bar area being moved. We all chose 3 different courses from the lunch menu & all were very good, especially the deserts. Good value for lunch as well. Our waiter, John, was fairly new but was excellent. We shall be returning soon.

We really enjoyed starters, main courses and desserts at Browns. Our waiter Alberto was excellent and we enjoyed his conversation with us.

Lovely dinner at Browns. It's always very reliable and a nice evening out. I love the crab and prawn linguine so it's hard to pick something else! Eder did a great job looking after us and made it a fun evening. Looking forward to our next visit.

This was a great evening. The venue was great and better than The Ivy IMO. The food was tasty even though we had to wait for it, but we weren’t in a hurry. Our waiter, Alberto, was a true professional: attentive and efficient. Very good service. The one thing I didn’t understand was why the tip, which was optional, was on top of the service charge. Anyway, our waiter deserved it!

Went for lunch at 1300 on Saturday march 16th. Three of us. Very nice meal but the server presented the card machine showing a choice of 10% 12% 15% gratuity. I assumed it was just confirming the 10% gratuity already on the bill. In fact 12% I added was on top of the 10% already included in the bill. You should include tips on the bill OR suggest it on the card machine BUTNOT both.

Food was superb, the whole experience was made even better by our waiter Alberto. He was attentive, professional and catered to our every need. Bless you Alberto, it was lovely meeting you

I eat here a great deal and spend quite a lot. Yesterday my guests steak was served cold and we had to send it back. We were charged for a bottle of wine that we did not order or drink. The staff did remove the cost of the wine and the service after I told them too. The whole experience was so poor. I usually eat there twice a month and spend over £300 per visit. I won't be back and will advise other parents who eat here to think twice. Joe"s iii Summer town is about to get a lot busier.

This is our second Brunch at Browns. The first time we had a Full English which was very tasty and very substantial. This time we had the pancakes with pancetta and maple syrup. Light and fluffy and the bacon was cooked to perfection. I would have liked a little jug of maple syrup to add to the pancakes but I'm sure we could have asked for some without any problems. Service was friendly and quick. We will be returning.

Had a lovely meal this evening made even more enjoyable by our waiter Alberto. Very professional, engaging and arranged a birthday surprise for me . Food excellent.

Had a lovely Mother’s Day Sunday roast at Browns. Ilyas looked after us perfectly, he was super friendly and attentive! The food was also great and arrived quickly and also enjoyed meeting the Spanish gentleman (who’s name I didn’t catch) on the wait staff team too - would reccomend a trip to Browns!

There was a group of 12 of us meeting for a reunion. Waiter was grumpy and inattentive from the start. They forgot one of my fiends meals altogether, claiming later chef had burnt it & wanted to cook a fresh one! How do you burn belly pork? Plus if that had been the case surely they would have proactively told us there was an issue rather than waiting for us to complain we were waiting for a meal. My lamb was supposed to be pink. It wasn't. Disappointing all round,

I booked a table four days before for an early dinner pre the theatre. On the booking I advised one of the party of five had a food intolerance and could not have fat or oil on their food. On arriving at the restaurant and confirming the booking I reiterated the food intolerance. We were shown to our table and the person showing us to our table passed the intolerance issue to our waitress; " this is the one with food intolerance!" Fortunately the guest with the intolerance took the comment in good faith and shrugged it off. When ordering the fish was chosen served with vegetables and potato anna's - again the order was placed and a request for no butter or oil was used in the prep or cooking. On arrival the cod and veg were cooked as requested regrettably the potatoes were not the potato anna's, cooked in oil and/or butter were served on the plate with the cod and veg. I identified the problem and advised my partner not to eat it (it resembled pineapple and was about to be eaten until I advised him accordingly) . Plain boiled potatoes could easily have been served as an alternative. It is very disappointing that after providing ample notice before hand and reiterating the information on three seperate occasions inside the restaurant about the intolerance, due diligence was not observed and could have caused serious physical harm to the person concerned. This was negligent and potentially dangerous.

A good reliable venue to entertain and be entertained. The bar is inviting, the restaurant has a family-friendly atmosphere, yet also very suitable for entertaining business guests. The food menu has a varied offering suitable for young and old, straight-forward or swanky, moderate to expensive, tastes. The atmosphere is inviting and has a Trans-Atlantic vibe (UK, European and North American).
