Waited a long time to have our order taken. Two parties that arrived after us had their orders taken first. Was almost scorned at for just ordering drinks, when the venue is called a cafe????? Plenty of staff not doing much, toilets dirty with no loo roll. Pot of tea wasn’t too bad and the price was reasonable. Lovely sea view!

Took over the cafe for an 80th birthday family fish and fizz lunch party. Wonderful! Food was freshly cooked and delicious, the staff both serving and organising were exemplary! Nothing was too much trouble, everything was done efficiently and with a smile and great good humour. We weren't rushed to leave so could sit and chat to family members for as long as we liked. We enjoyed every minute, people who hadn't been to the cafe before were impressed by the building as well as the food and atmosphere. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have booked for an even larger family party at Christmas!! Thank you Siabhon for your brilliant organising and to the serving staff for all their help.

We parked up in the carpark behind this cafe, went for a walk and then ended popping in for the first time. We ordered fish n chips and 2 drinks and sat outside as we couldn’t take our dog inside ( which when using the loo and walking through I completely understand why as it’s only tiny). Food arrived in a takeway box which was fine and oh my goodness it was the best!! Tartar sauce and mushy peas were really tasty, chips and fish gorgeous and just enough to keep us full before a long drive home. Gotta be the best by far and we have fish n chips a lot on our travels in our campervan! Well Done East Beach Cafe. We will be back for sure

Family lunch for 6. Food for 5 was good but for the vegetarian the choice (1 for main course) and the meal was very disappointing. Effectively a bowl of cold veg. It was a cold blustery day so not what you wanted whilst everyone else was tucking into well cooked hot food ☹️. Staff were lovely tho wait for food was a bit too long.

A bracing walk to and from Rustington but we did not actually get rained on. One Fish & Chips (with proper, Garden, Peas) as usual. My colleague opted for the Steak Burger. Both excellent. Twinned with good service and a Table with sea views. To end, Affogato, as usual. Such a wonderful combination of Dessert and Coffee. We will be back. Hayling Seagoon

Fabulous architect designed cafe on the beach. I've been going there for years. Unfortunately yesterday I had the worst meal ever. Fish n chips were warm and fish batter was soggy and undercooked. Chips tasted powdery. Mentioned this after eating half of the meal as noone asked how it was for ages. They were quite busy but not packed! We were so hungry that we just ate it. Scared to send back food as heard stories of what happens to the food when you complain! We were offered more chips to make up for it and I said no thanks as we didn't like the chips but they brought them anyway! I was so disappointed as I normally recommend this place as the best fish n chips in the area. My friend was embarrassed at me complaining but I was polite so I just paid over £60.00 for a warm lunch that was probably not safe to eat when not hot? Guessing it was a different chef and it was bank holiday and the usual manager was not there! Liz H

Went to get an early lunch/late breakfast. Asked for a sausage and egg roll and then a sausage roll. Waited a long time to be given the wrong food … a bacon and egg and then a sausage. Couldn’t be bothered to wait so much longer for the food to be done correctly so just ate it. People who ordered a long while after us got their food extremely quickly … looked like they had also ordered rolls. Food was nice, although wasn’t what I asked for.

We happened upon this cafe whilst walking along the beach and were so intrigued by the building we had a look in and were drawn in by the friendly staff and the delicious sounding menu. We are very glad we did. We had a smashing dinner of fresh Mackerel and beetroot followed by a delicious affogato washed down with a yummy Sauvignon Blanc. Each member of staff was wonderful, so friendly yet professional, attentive yet not overbearing. I would give this a high recommend.

A lovely spot, but sad to say the menu is much less exciting now - there used to be lots of seafood on the menu - now much more snacky, less exciting stuff and several items on the menu had run out. The doors were mostly shut despite it being a hot sunny day, less atmosphere too, less people, kind of a bit messy. Staff were lovely but I'm not sure we'd rush back here. Such a shame.....

Superb. We went for dinner with the kids and it was great. Perfectly cooked fish, fluffy crispy chips, amazingly tasty pea puree, homemade tartre sauce, lovely fresh, nicely cut side salad and buttered greens. And the chocolate brownie and blood orange sorbet desserts were incredible. The chef clearly knows how to elevate simple things to make them special.

We were seated at the back of the cafe and quickly realised that with the doors open the smell from the road train were awful. Ordered burger and chips and 2 cokes. The cokes arrived relatively quickly, but the wait for our meal was to the point of thinking we were forgotten. (We took into account that the same people preparing our food were also preparing the food for the take out area. Perhaps more staff needed?) Eventually our meal arrived and from the body language of our server and the quick disposal on the table and quick run away, we should have guessed there was a problem. It actually looked good at first sight, but how quickly we became disappointed. I initially thought they had forgotten the Burger in my very dry brioche bun, but found it hidden under the thin slice of cheese. The chips were very greasy. Worst to come the Burger was raw and I mean, dripping and almost mooing on the plate. We seemed to be given a wide berth for some time and eventually a server with learning difficulties cleared our plates. We did order dessert thinking that it couldn't be bad. So wrong! Took over half an hour to arrive and the portion size were disappointing. We also needed to source our own cutlery. About to dig into the pudding and there was a horrible smell of dirty hot old fat that filled the cafe. Being such small dessert portions we were able to consume quickly, pay and leave. I felt so sorry for the servers who were obviously uncomfortable serving. This cafe is one to be avoided

We came here with my son, wife and 6 month old grandson without reservation on a Sat afternoon around 1ish. It was pretty full but we were lucky because one table was just leaving I was approached by a lady, gave me a huge smile and straightaway, I knew I was into a winner. These days, the most you can get from staff is ‘no smile’. The worse is a frown’. I told her I do not have a reservation and even have a 6 month old baby. She said , no problem, that table is just leaving. She said to wait for a while whilst she cleaned and set the table. We took the opportunity to put the baby to nap. It worked very well, the baby slept throughout the whole meal. We ordered 3 fish and chips, 1 burger. 2 coffees, 2 cold drinks and 1 spritzer. The bill came to £95. Very reasonable. The food was good. Batter in fish was light, burger was juicy. No complaints whatsoever. The staff were all very friendly which makes a difference. Parking is easy as there’s a huge parking area just by the cafe.( ticket machine) There is the fantastic seaview from the cafe. Everyone once in a while, you get the seafront children train passing by. We had a good afternoon.

Like so many other people I use Google reviews to help decide where to visit. In this respect East Beach Café scores well and I had reasonably high hopes. Unfortunately these hopes were dashed and I've been trying to work out why. On the positive front the café is in a great location next to the beach and the staff are very helpful. We enjoyed a pair of gin & tonics with our meal and that part was great. Unfortunately the food was a big let down both in terms of taste and price. I decided to try the carrot & pomegranate starter and what I received were two whole carrots with the fruit seeds arrayed on top. Which was just weird and not worth £7. For the main I went with the Sussex smokie fish meal for £18 and sadly it sounded much better than the reality. There wasn't much fish to be found and meal itself was very salty. And never mind the over-cooked garlic bread! My partner went with the Goan aubergine curry at £15 and this certainly featured aubergine. A lot of aubergine! So what went wrong? I can only imagine that they've got a new chef or that the regular chef in on holiday. Alternatively it could be that they're experts at cooking standard seaside food, such as fish and chips, but rather out of their depth elsewhere? It's a conundrum and all rather disappointing.

I have been to East Beach Cafe more times than I can count and it is practically faultless. The staff are amazing, the service is excellent, the food is always of a very high standard and it is in such a wonderful location. I don't really like fish, which as expected from a beachside cafe, the menu is focussed on, but there are other options and I have yet to be disappointed. Personally, my favourite is the breakfast, but the lunch and dinner menus are just as excellent. I cannot recommend the Cafe highly enough.

We visited here today for lunch. It was our first time in the local area and so we just thought that we would pop in for lunch. Well what a treat it was in terms of views, service and food! My daughter wasn't too hungry so she just ordered a portion of chips (but wow, they were good! Excellent quality and super hot) I had the french onion soup and as I told one of the staff afterwards, I could happily have this for my lunch every day. Everything was well priced in my opinion - £2.50 for the chips and £8.50 for the soup. Many of the main courses were in the region of £14-17.50. My only criticism is that I maybe would have liked to have seen more smaller items on the menu priced around £8-£12 or maybe smaller portions of the fish and chips offered. But overall a really lovely lunch in somewhere that we will definitely return to. Special thanks to the waiter from Australia - we were shown to an excellent table with a view even though there was just my daughter and I (this was most appreciated). This really is a place that does service with a smile.

We dropped in for breakfast here and found a little gem. The food was excellent hot and the tea and coffee were very good. Service was excellent, and nothing was too much trouble. Tables are nicely spaced apart, and the high ceiling makes it feel very airy. The views from the window tables are amazing. The cafe can get busy (not surprisingly), so plan ahead. I'm not sure I can give a better more honest piece of feedback than by saying we take our holiday in Littlehampton BECAUSE of East Beach Cafe. It's likely our favourite restaurant in the country. They have recently brought in a new chef, who is not only skilled, but incredibly passionate about his job, pretty much guaranteeing you'll never be disappointed with the food. The location is perfect, with a lovely view of the coast right on the beach. But the best quality is without a doubt the customer service. EBC found out that me and my partner were celebrating our 5 year anniversary, and pulled out every stop possible to make our evening perfect, and one we'll remember forever. They're friendly, hard-working, thoughtful and genuinely passionate about their job and their customers. The only downside is they had to close for the night eventually. We will be back in Littlehampton soon, and the first thing we will do is book in for dinner at EBC. Keep being awesome. P.S. Please bring back the espresso creme Brule! I still dream about it from time-to-time..

We turned up, family of 7. 5 Adults, a 3 & 5 year old, and 3 small dogs. The dogs meant we could only use the beach side patio, but the weather was fine so that was okay. The menu for outside needs to be ordered from the kiosk. This menu was limited, but sometimes that can be a bonus. The staff we met were helpful, attentive and very polite. We ordered 4 crispy squid with Aoli. The portion was okay but was clearly freshly prepared in a tempura batter( none that pre breadcrumbed frozen brakes/3663 nonesense) the aoli was super garlicy (if that's a word) just went so well with the squid. Well worth a try. We had 2 portions of Cheesy chips that were significant portions of nice chunky chips with plenty of grated cheddar over the top. Food orders were shoutd out by number and delivered by staff to us when ready. We wanted wine and beer, but the kiosk staff were too young to sell it, but taking a validated receipt into the main cafe was easy enough. A nice selection of wines and beers are available and the staff where knowledgeable about each drink and very helpful. We stayed for a second drink and for the children to indulge in the massive croissants available. You really should try the caramel filled , chocolate decorated ones.. delicious. Poor weather could have made this a different experience, but the food and staff are excellent.

A friend had booked lunch for us, the location was really lovely but we were disappointed at the very limited menu of either fish and chips or scampi and chips, the special board had crab and prawn linguine or aubergine and rice so two of us was going to order the crab and prawn linguine but we were told this was sold out, the other friend was able to order the last aubergine and rice. We ordered starters of mozzarella with pesto that was bland without any flavour. We then waited for more than half an hour for the main meals which left me extremely disappointed at the poor quality of the scampi, which was all thick breadcrumbs, and over cooked chips, the main of aubergines and rice was half an aubergine and about four tablespoons of rice no other veg. Also the rhubarb and ginger soft drink had very little flavour. This was meant to be a “thank you” lunch so I felt unable to say how I felt about the meal without upsetting my friend. I would not recommend the menu that I had on this day and feel that the restaurant needs to improve their quality of food for the prices they are charging. Not a good experience from a food lover

I think if you stick to basic English food, you won't be too disappointed, but the Crab & Chilli Risotto was a real let down, gloopy and tasteless, the crab was lost and if there was chilli it must have been hiding. Scampi & Chips was fine. Service was good, interesting building. We stopped by for coffee a few years ago and that was just fine, so lunch was real disappointment for me.

First visit for lunch. We were ‘rained in’ as our day at the beach took a turn when the wind picked up and the rain came. No booking but were greeted warmly and a space was found expertly ! We couldn’t believe it (it was busy!). We were thinking of a small lunch to wait out the rain but the menu had some great dishes so went all out. Cauliflower soup with a twist - fantastic. The crab and chilli risotto was lovely - our waitress made a note on the chilli and she delivered it with just enough spice (I’m not a huge chilli fan). Our waitress was excellent - she was young but so professional and effortless. As I said they were busy but she didn’t miss a trick After a lovely unexpected lunch we booked in to return for the music night in August - can’t wait

We made a special trip to Littlehampton to dine here as the food looked so good in the photos. Unfortunately, our fish and chips, and scampi looked nothing like that and were very similar to something you could buy in the frozen food aisle of any supermarket. Fish portion was small, pea puree (or just mushy peas?) were cold. We could have had something similar for less money at The Harvester. Lovely building and view but food lets it down.

Had the full breakfast, I don't mind crispy bacon, but I've never ever been served it in a cafe or hotel before, interesting! had scrambled eggs, which were not the usual bright yellow colour but yellow with light brownish tinge, having said all that I eat there again just wouldn't be in my top 5 lol!

The fish and chips i had today were extremely poor...the chips were tastless...the fish was basically a frozen packet fish, not fresh and very small, no idea how they can charge £17 for it....just staggering

We rarely go out for breakfast unless we are on holiday but we're so glad we made the effort! Our breakfast was very enjoyable, the staff so friendly, the location excellent, right on the beach. What's not to like?

Totally over rated. Three of us sat down after 3rd chair was sought but only 2 glasses on table with water already provided. After 15 minutes with no waitress attending us we asked as two more parties arriving after us had their orders taken and...

It's an Unusual looking place but a great location. Fish and chips were very good, but burger was overpowered by Oregano.. grandson and son thought it was really bad. Price steep, but the food didn't warrant it! Shame. Service was slow, considering it wasn't really busy. Lovely clean toilets, though

After a morning visit to Bogna Regis, we wanted something a little out of town for lunch. Found the Oak on Google maps and decided to give it a try. It was a midweek lunchtime so very few customers, which suited us perfectly as we have a quite excitable dog. We both had a lovely Brie, Bacon and cranberry baguette (£7.50) and a pint. The barmaid was lovely and very attentive to us and our dog. Would definitely visit again if we didn't live 100 miles away.

Went today for a couple of coffees, after waiting 5 minutes some young guy who had been folding napkins eventually wandered over looking most disinterested. I asked for 2 coffees and he said ' can't do hot drinks '. No apology or reason why. Needless to say with 2 other places nearby, West Park and The Waverley, where you feel welcome will not be coming back here.
