The food on offer was of high quality, I had fresh fish and prawn salad (2 combined starters) beautifully prepared) I think I had a fruit crumble and cream. Horrid place!! Came here to bide time whilst waiting for our dog to be cremated at the Pet Cemetery up the road, spent less than £10 on two drinks then ended up paying £140 for parking!! We were the only people in there, the bar man should have prompted us to sign in as we did not really notice that you had to, we were not aware of much that day. Then the parking company sent us photos with a fine, And in the photos you could see me and my partner sitting outside with our drinks. We had all the proof that was needed. Bank statement etc. Phoned the landlord twice as we then had a reminder, he said don't worry I'll sort this, if you get any more just throw them away. A couple of months later we get a letter from a lawyer saying this needs to be paid, I tried to disbute it , but all they could do was reduce it a bit because of the reason we were there. So will NEVER EVER use this place again. We'll just stick to hanging out at the golf course if this ever occurs again!!!

Visited the Plough last month for a drink before heading out for dinner, and 3 weeks later I receive a parking charge for parking in the pub car park! Warning signs are not at eye level and in the dark are not visible! We were NOT told whilst we ordered drinks, that we should sign our car in if we had parked. Which I believe is poor treatment of your customers! Called and spoke to the miserable manager, who advised me to show proof of drinks purchase to the parking company when I appeal! Which made no difference at all! As today I am paying a £60 fine! I will not be giving my custom anymore to a greedy owner, who has no common decency for his/hers customers! I have warned many people especially, our wide range of friends & family who visit frequently and they won't be giving you custom either. Thank you very much for taking money from a already struggling family due to loosing jobs through the pandemic!

An average pub at best but not so disproportionately cheap that it needs to be supplemented by extortionate parking costs. Not advised at the point of being seated or ordering and disadvantages the uninitiated. Made a single drink very expensive. Have left messages with the staff but not returned any calls even to apologise. Disappointing for an establishment professing to cater to a local demographic.

Typical general contempt from upper management to customers of the Plough, they are very lucky there is not to much choice in the village otherwise customers might possibly vote with their feet

We have just had a brilliant Sunday lunch. Dave, the chef and manager, was appointed by the owner Paul two weeks ago. In the two weeks we have seen the footfall increase significantly and he started doing food on Sundays again. Tonight we were told his boss was moving them on. We don’t want them to go. It looks we will go back to a lousy drinking den with no food served. When are Wexford Inns going to realise they have gem of an investment on their hands and give us back a proper village pub offering good pub food. We want Dave (latest manager back).

An old fashioned pub with rickety tables and dark wood paneling, a very limited range of drinks & the sub contracted kitchen supplies hit & miss food according to it's own whims, regardless of whether its advertised as open or not. Bar staff don't tell you food is unavailable until after they have charged you for your drinks. Landlord can be rude at times. Bar staff aren't very knowledgeable about even basic wine -they had never heard of white Rioja and they list white Zinfandel as a rose! On the plus side,, the sports TVs are discreet, it doesn't get crowded, is dog friendly & reasonable prices. If you use the car park you MUST register your vehicle with the bar or you will get fined with no comeback as its operated by a 3rd party company. The tribute nights are very good if you avoid the dodgy Bbq's (the cook was smoking while bbq-ing!) but can get crowded & the awkward layout can mean you end up in a different room to the singer.

I have been here on a few occasions now since January and the staff seem friendly and accommodating . The garden has been extensively upgraded and is pleasant, quiet and comfortable. The beer is kept well, with a rotation of guest beers. However I have not been tempted to try the food yet as the landlord, by his general appearance does not suggest a high standard of hygiene in the kitchen. He is friendly and personable , he engages well but his appearance is poor and unkempt . If landlords want to welcome people in to drink and hopefully eat, a high level of personal appearance can help enormously. If they are front of house they need to dress and present themselves accordingly. I shall still continue to use the pub but shan't be eating there unless things change .

The landlord then approached us to say that what my friend had ordered for a starter was unavailable so she chose something else. The starters arrived and we ate and the plates were cleared away. We waited and waited for the mains and eventually the landlord came out and told us we couldn't have main courses as he had just sacked the chef!! We were so shocked we thought he was joking. We were hungry so decided to go elsewhere and as we left we could hear him shouting at someone in the kitchen. It was like being at Fawlty Towers. Decided to give it another chance a few weeks ago and to be honest he is a rude obnoxious man. It also is very interesting that this pub is on trip advisor twice. One listing is in Byfleet and the other is Woking which is misleading.

I will be open from the open. I live in Byfleet Village and I have been proud to have a traditional pub here. I occasionally drink in the pub, grab a pint and then head out to the garden in the summer or off to a table in the winter.I went in last night with a couple of friends and was planning to spend only about enough time for two rounds. There were two women sitting on the table near to us who were chatting and waiting for their taxi to arrive. These were two normal looking women who looked like they had come from work. Their taxi arrived early and so the landlord spoke to the driver to ask him to come back in 20mins. I went to the bar to buy the second round and at this time the ladies left saying thanks to the landlord. As they disappeared out the door he commented to me "S!uts!". I was so shocked by what I thought was ironic humor that I laughed and commented that I was only thinking about the fact that on this rare occasion I had a £50 note in my wallet. He said bitterly "It will cost you more than that for one of them." - he was being serious! I ignored this strange outburst and returned to the table.I started talking to my girlfriend about comparing one of the beers we were drinking to the same brand we had just made at home. The landlord pricked up his ears and we got into a bit of banter. One of the other locals joined in and we had a laugh at the expense of CAMRA members. It was all very jovial and then the landlord flipped shouting at me for being rude and taking things too far. The other local looked at me and expressed surprise at this sudden turn. The landlord continued this tirade of verbal abuse for about a minute while he stormed up and down the bar moving glasses. Our side of the pub went dead quiet. We quickly finished up our drinks and headed off. As we were leaving the pub he sneered "Enjoy your bitter!" referring to the beer that we had made.As we got home, in a bit of a shock, I realised that I had seen this kind of interaction happen before at that pub. The last time I was in there with a different friend the landlord was hurling abuse at some customers who were leaving as we were coming in. At the time I assumed that the customers were out of order but perhaps this wasn't the case. So these three isolated incidents have convinced me that the landlord at present in February 2014 is dire enough that I do not wish to ever return to this place to spend my money. It's a shame as I had a large group of friends scheduled to come over to here for the next three Sundays and I would have liked to have taken them here - I will find another pub to go to now.My advice is to wait until the landlord gets replaced by anyone else. I like beer but I prefer for it not to be served with a shot of customer abuse.
