The Fountain in Chichester

Still the usual good Ales, well kept. Brilliant bar maid today. Good knowledge of products and really nice personality.

First time I have been in since the refurb (not that I know how long ago that was). The Fountain has had a much needed tidy up and is a nice, clean and friendly bar to enjoy a pint or 2.

Great live music on Saturday night

One of the cozier spots in Chichester for a pint, they have some nice seating (especially the sofas) and good music, and the bartender who chatted to us about early 00s pop punk was really friendly!

Asked about a taxi and the staff were so helpful. They ordered me one and made me feel at ease. Even though it was Goodwood. Would go there again. I live in Littlehampton and was on my way to see my daughter. Thankyou to staff.

Came here with my partner last Friday evening for a couple of drinks. This was the first time here in around 15 years and still has the same great vibe. Even had a live band and decent atmosphere. Couldn’t stay long as was driving. Nevertheless thoroughly enjoyed it and we will be back for sure!!

Drank in here afew times over the years when visiting Chichester and always enjoyed the live music in the evenings. Today we visited during the day and had lunch, we were really pleased with the service and the food was lovely at a reasonable price, sat outside as it was a gorgeous day, will definitely come for food again

A proper pub serving Badgers ales. Staff are friendly which is great after The Vestry, Only used the front bar so must adventure further in next time.

Duke Box. Pub Food. Live Music. Friendly staff. Plenty of drink options. Knooks to hide in, big tables for groups. Open fires. What more could you need.

Really nice pub, conveniently located in Chichester, just a stone's throw from the Station. Three room, with one bar at the front. Toilets are upstairs so not totally accessible. Great place.

They need to put the heating on I counted 6 people turning round and waking out because they were put off by how cold it was beer was good food was Mediocre staff were friendly just to cold.

Absolutely disappointed. Had to wait ages for a member of staff to appear at the bar. Had to wait ages for our burger and chips so yes i had to order another 2 beers while waiting for our food. No central heating as the radiators weren't on as broken. The power points also not working had to ask bar staff if there was anywhere I could charge my phone and she replied yes but in the kitchen! Eventually the landlady appeared. My god did she look rough. Looked like she had been dragged through a hedge backwards she looked that scruffy. Her hair looked like it never seen a come or brush. Put it this way I've been better pubs than the fountain. I won't be returning as I don't like the pub! It's awful

The Fountain has fun and friendly staff, a fair selection of ales and ciders but reasonable food and possibly the best burgers. I'd be surprised if you are dissatisfied by your visit. We have been for lunch a couple of times, drinks many times.

Lovely food, nice selection of craft beers and welcoming staff. Had a lovely lunch here, which was very reasonably priced. A nuce pint of beer, well pulled and well kept. I would absolutely come here again.

Left Chichester after uni over 8 years ago and this place pretty much sums up why I was so glad to leave. Terrible beers and miserable staff who ID’d a group of over 30s. Embarrassing. Classic Chichester. Classic waste of time in a persistently ageist city. Vile

What a change! I was so surprised to see the changes in the fountain since my last visit The staff are lovely. A really pleasant evening. Well done fountain.

Good band playing great atmosphere

We tried a couple of other pubs in town, but this was the best. Good beers and helpful staff. Lots of different sitting areas in different parts of the pub, plus bags of character.

On our recent visits to Chi we have only had a drink in the Fountain so cannot comment on the food. The staff are friendly, pleasant, helpful and professional. The beers are 'well kept' and the wine is served at appropriate temperatures. A well managed and staffed Hostelry with a good atmosphere

The burger reminded me of lady Melissandra from Game of Thrones. It looked beautiful, saucy and sight of it got the juices flowing. One bite and the only image which remains is of the red witch when she takes off the necklace; old, stale and bitter. Service was friendly tho.

Great atmosphere also live music. Definitely recomended

We were looking for somewhere to get a quick Saturday evening meal. The Fountain was 'welcoming' with a good atmosphere. There was a wide selection of reasonably priced food on the menu and the service was efficient whilst friendly.

Came in for a pint and some lunch whilst Christmas shopping in the town, and wow what a lovely lunch we had! Highly recommend the Brie, Bacon and Cranberry Ciabatta 😍 great service 😀

After walking round Chichester we found this pleasant pub for brunch. Really enjoyed the chips and the meal was good value. Friendly bar staff.

Haven't been in for some time due to Covid, changed hands again and no Kronenbourg, oh well, Birra Morretti but not the same!!

Great little find whist working near by Great choice of Ales and Lagers and so many Gins staff very friendly and helpful nice local pub locals made us feel welcome two good nights spent in here

We came, hurriedly, from The Vestry and thought that we had entered Heaven. A proper pub with welcoming staff, nice decor and a good range of ales.

Nice clean pub, very attentive staff. Biggest let down was the food menu, it was fine if you wanted a Burger or Mac n Cheese. I asked if there were any specials going as suggested on the board and was told nothing else available. I ended up having a burger which was very nicely presented, it was very tasty and the chips were lovely too. I use to go to this pub quite regularly a few years back and they had a really good menu of Pub Classics, but sadly that isn’t the case now. I won’t be returning anytime soon unless the menu greatly improves. When you look at the pubs website it shows photographs of scampi and chips Etc. Being served, very misleading.

Pop over for a quick pint or 6 just to be told the where full although there was at least 5 or more tables empty. So was told to leave. I can only put this down to me being on my own so they didn't want to use a table for 4 up on me when they could get more money with filling the table. So wrong will not be using this pub again when back to normal and wi tell friends to avoid as well

Popped in a number of times for drinks. Would reccomend. Loads of choice, duke box, sofas and tables throughout. Great outside sun trap for the warmer days.

Atmosphere suffered from COVID regulations more than a lot of places I've been. IPA and house lager tasted a bit eggy, not sure how much of them they sell. Nice pub otherwise!

Came in here yesterday for lunch with a friend for the first time since lockdown and the staff were very friendly and attentive as always. We ordered some grazers that were on a special offer. The food has definitely improved as the plates looked lovely, were perfectly cooked and there was allot more attention to detail put into it. Will definitely be back!

I went into the fountain for a light bite and drink with a friend and was very impressed with the measures put in place due to covid (all staff wearing masks and plenty of sanitizer available) Drink order was taken quickly and brought to us with a smile. Food was very quick to arrive and presented beautifully; perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. Will definitely be back again.

Love the remodelling that's happened but... interested to see how live music will work when we're finally allowed. Good beer and good staff.

This was once a gem of a pub, a locals' oasis with a realistic range of well-kept beers but what has happened? The welcoming front bar with its cosy corner counter has gone, replaced by an identikit straight serving area along the length of a side wall. More to the point, perhaps, the staff showed no interest in the customers on the evening of our visit. The pub's web page boasts: "The Fountain Inn is an actual proper pub . . ." Not any more, it isn't. If you like "proper" pubs, avoid this sham. Very sad.

Popped in on Sunday lunchtime and no food available and limited coffee. Had a pint of Firstly Ferret and sat outside on wooden benches. Pretty much empty.
