The County Hotel - J D Wetherspoon in Ashford

Large area of fruit machines dominate the bar area, even for a wetherspoons this feels lifeless. The table are at the back is laid out in straight rows but feels uncomfortable and not like a restaurant, even for a weathespoons this is bad, one of the worst I've been in. I went about 6pm on a Monday

Good pud. Good food and friendly staff. Always a pleasure at a weatherspoons.

Curry club Thursday: really busy it was quite difficult to find a table. Prices are higher on the app that advertised on the table. Food is still ok, but no longer such a great deal as it used to be. Staff are helpful and friendly but service is quite slow.

Dark, dated, filthy. Table was sticky and the place looks generally tired and in need of a touch up. Breakfast was ok. Coffee came out of the machine luke warm. Service was fine

I ordered a wrap with chicken and chilli and a coffee drink. Order politely taken, food prepared quickly and the meal tasted fine. No problems at all and well done.

As per many of the other reviews, the food was inedible. I had a 'gourmet sirloin' as opposed to the cheaper 'classic sirloin.' Although apparently cooked through, it was chewy, tasteless and I would be reluctant to give it to my dog. The peas were hard and crinkly. the field mushroom was the size of a 50p piece and over cooked. The chips and onion rings were acceptable. Having said that the 3 pints of bitter I had were spot on.

Best value breakfasts in town. Lots of choices at great prices

Cheap and cheerful place I love it. Quick and way service. Good for drinks and food. Good amount of seating in or out and a nice place tk go with friends.

I mean, it's a Wetherspoons, so reviews are almost pointless. They're kinda the same. But of course there are some variables... The building. Wetherspoons generally take over places with history. The County Hotel wasnt a historic building like the Spoons in Whitstable or Folkestone or.... But my band played there in the 90s, so there is a connection with the (remodelled) space. And the layout is good. Different zones for different vibes. Another variable is atmosphere. I'm a believer that's something that you bring with you. But if you're going there cold, it's a bit generic. Typical to Spoons the beer is decent and the toilets are a trek upstairs. Listen. Ashford doesn't have many great pubs any more and The County Hotel is definitely in the top 3. Four stars for the memories though. Oh and the food is Spoons. Good value, decent nosh. Don't knock it.

It's not a bad place prices for food n drinks are very good food is clean a nicely prepared they have cut back on portions sizes so if your a big eater it may not fill you up like my husband's been leaving feeling hungry, always busy lots of families and my favourite is the coffee Machine great quality and refillable, waiting time can be a bit slow on busy days but I'd say fir the prices of beers ect it's worth it 😀

Friendly service, plenty of seating and a very good pint. No parking directly outside but paid parking literally a 30 second walk away.

I've seen a downs girl with a boyfriend and a fit girl with a monster. Truly a place where dreams come true.

I have been to many weatherspoons in my time and this one has to be the most slowest service out of all the ones I have been to. There seem to be loads of staff members dilly Dalling around talking amongst themselves and not serving customers quick enough. The food is ok though however service needs to be much more efficient for a busy weatherspoons like this. Venue is nice however a bit dark and dingy in some areas. The place would be better if the staff were more assertive.

Spoons is spoons. However, customer service is not great - staff are not friendly and appear to have limited people skills. Food - you get what you pay for and to be honest, in the morning or evening the food is great in relation to price.

Had a lovely lunchtime meal. Well priced which is rare these days. Staff made us feel welcome and looked after. Seems really well run and the manager Tom is lovely. Izzie also was very helpful. Will certainly be back. Only negative is the outside area which is uninspiring and in need a serious bit of work. It would be a big plus as there’s no other pub gardens in the town centre. Would be great if it was done.

Good decent whetherspoons, always come in for breakfast over anything else, it's very nice! Can get a bit lively in the evenings with people looking to cause problems, but generally in the mornings it's quite nice and the food is always well prepared!

I come here a lot as the food is very good and it's cheap. I don't drink so I like to come here in the evening and watch it all unfold in front of me! I come alone and have only been given hassle once and the door staff removed them

It was a lovely warm welcoming establishment, not busy, so it was easy to find seating for such a large group. The waiting staff did not look very presentable, messy hair does. The food was not very hot. The bacon looked like it had been flashed in the pan. The sausage was like leather; just not a good experience food wise, it certainly hasn't made me want to go back there.

I use this place regularly sometimes more than once per day as I go about my everyday business. I like to breakfast there although the female management are rude and on several occasions removed my food before I had finished without asking. After a pleasant day elsewhere I returned last night for an early evening drink and a spot of gambling whereupon after a short but enjoyable and profitable visit was asked to leave for having a mobile phone. In short I find almost all of the regular staff helpful and polite. The "management" are rude. The "security" staff couldn't secure a locked room. Over the course of the day I personally witnessed illegal drug taking, stolen goods being bought and sold, underage drinking and sexual intercourse in the male toilets and am regularly asked if I can obtain illegal drugs for other customers. This I feel is a matter for the Police to look into. My suggestion to you Mr Weatherspoons is to replace your management team at this branch. My custom and considerable wealth will be taken elsewhere until I find out that something has been done about this matter. You have lost a wealthy customer from Weatherspoons Ashford. Such a shame.......

You can't beat the food and drink combo for price and quality! The upholstered seating could benefit from a deep clean as some of them looked a bit grubby. However, staff are really friendly and service is super quick.

For the price you really can't grumble at the quality of food! I highly recommend the large mixed grill , service has improved lately

It's a Wetherspoons pub. Cheap booze and reasonably priced food to accompany. Avoid on a Friday and Saturday after about 8:30pm as that's when they let the kids in to drink...

As always here fast service, standard spoons food , but friendly staff and a good well stocked menu. Can't complain.

Country Pub in the South East. Free of mutts. Perfect snacks. Good prices. Fine interior. Enjoyed all the different breakfasts over 3 days.

I ordered a scampi, peas and chips meal, which,vas it was ordered between 2pm-5pm was reduced in price. The order was taken efficiently, the food well prepared and it tasted fine, so, thank-you.

The County is the best place in Ashford, with fantastic staff, great beer at a good price the best pub food you can get anywhere.

We asked a local where we could get a real ale and we were directed to this Wetherspoon pub. It was lunchtime and this place was really busy. There was a number of real ales on and the Doombar I had was perfectly acceptable and a good price. We sat down for a quiet chat but it was noisy and difficult to communicate. We were both hungry but decided that this wasn’t the place for us to eat as the tables looked unkept. If you want a cheap pint and don’t care about the environment then this place is for you.

Went to have lunch with my husband and my dog. We sat outside as we had a dog, ordered via app, when staff came out we ask for water for our dog and we're met with an outright rejection saying no dogs allowed on premises inside or out. The staff member said that they will be back after our refund was processed we waited a while and then my husband went to the tills and got a refund. We are responsible dog owners and if the premises had proper signage of course we would not have sat down. Well done Portsmouth on being a dog friendly place seems Ashford needs educating that dogs are family members. Will not recommend this place and I suggest j d wetherspoons review all premises that don't allow dog owners with dogs on there premises. We are used to sitting outside. We would have been there every day as very close to where our friend lives. We spend alot of money in welcoming and dog friendly places. I really hope you reconsider your policy as I know that not all j d wetherspoons are so unfriendly.

Horrible me and my partner both had the steak and chips they have changed the steak seasoning its was spicy and herby yucky

So we thought that we would have a bottle of wine and something to eat. We got the wine, a shame they had no bottles of Hardys Pinot Grigio so had to have two glasses. Got a menu (dirty and grubby) and sat at table 111 outside. The state of the table was just disgusting. This did not happen today, it has built up over a while. We decided not to stop and have some chicken wings - we went to Grillo's on Bank Street and the wings were just superb! Your loss Wetherspoons.

They might do reasonably priced food, but no point in freezing whilst you eat. Went there Sunday night and found the chairs were so damp we could not stay. Why do they have the AC on such a low temperature. Are they trying to make us all leave or dye of cold?

Awful place where the (obviously) poorly trained staff seem determined to ensure customers can't enjoy a few pints without being harassed. Has the atmosphere of a third-rate burger bar which is fine if you just want to sell a few burgers! If you're looking for anything resembling a pub, avoid this place like the plague!

Arrived 18th January at 14:00. Very busy.... Needs more staff to clear tables as a matter of urgency. we walk in and its packed which i can understand as its saturday. there were several empty tables though but they were unable to be sat on as they were all dirty and still had glasses on them. we asked a young lady nicely do you have any clear tables and rudely she says no we are packed there is those ones that need to be cleared or nothing so we were forced to sit on a sticky and crum full table. the young girl did finally come to clean it bu barely touched the table with the cloth. the food was decent but couldn't stop imagining how dirty the kitchen must be as if the staff are too lazy to clear tables they most definitely must be too lazy to clear the kitchen. seriously was put off my food by it and wont be coming back.

When in town today I called in for lunch and ordered by phone, a jacket potato with chilli and an orange juice. The meal was well presented and prepared. Obviously a popular place as it was packed!

Again visited the former County Hotel in early Sep whilst staying at a nearby Premier Inn. A wide variety of meals and drinks and occasionally good priced Manager's Choices. This place starts being crowded from 8 a.m. as it offers good breakfasts and coffees / teas, even Decafs! 2 large TV screens. Toilets always well maintained!
