Just received a £90 parking fine from a company called EURO CAR PARKS 01/09/2024 15.14.30 in 01/09/2024 17.03 out Machine would not let us put more than £2 in for parking No ticket asked staff who could not give an answer. Food was good Staff behind the bar new had to ask for help with order, not all drinks received had to chase up felt really sorry for her as she did her best.

Fast service, even on a Friday evening. Staff very helpful and food hot and good.

AVOID UNLESS COMING BY FOOT- You will definitely receive a parking fine from a scam company called Euro Car Parks. Parking machines require coins and conveniently do not work correctly. No card or online payments available curiously, despite 90% of modern transactions being such. As you would imagine, JD Wetherspoons says, 'Sorry, nothing to do with us, mate', and the next person gets a fine. Outrageous and enough to put me off this chain for life.

A regular haunt for us. Lovely manageress does an amazing job and helped us out recently when we had a problem with the parking. A credit to the company.

PARKING SCAM. I went to this spoons with a few friends, the prices were great, the food was great, the service was great, the toilets were great. Everything was great, apart from the intentionally misleading carpark. Literally attached to the pub itself, the carpark is owned by a franchise company and you must pay separately to use this. Whilst I appreciate there was likely signage, I still believe this is outrageous as the carpark looks like it belongs to The Red Lion. This is done on purpose so customers of the Red Lion assume they will get free parking, as I so innocently did, as they are paying for the service of the pub. I believe what makes this more disgraceful is that it is intentionally unclear as to ensure the franchise company profits off of the mistaken Wetherspoons customers who then have to pay up to a £75 fine. What makes this more upsetting, especially as a former Wetherspoons employee, is that the Wetherspoons is conscious of this partnership and trickery, and not only facilitates it but offers no additional warning to mislead customers inside the pub through means of signage of staff. A pathetic and disingenuous money making scheme that has changed my view of spoons and ruined an otherwise lovely trip. I will not be using any of the Wetherspoon pubs again, even as a former employee who greatly supported them.

very lacklustre and poor compared to winchester and salisbury - only one girl on bar, duty manager busy counting tills, oily poppodums, (would of notified staff if a table check completed or cleared plates), would usually put it down as cheap and cheerful except the waiter didn't interact with customers

Unprofessional staff led by weak management coupled with average food and abysmal parking make this easily the worst pub in Petersfield.

Have a lovely meals take my mum for a birthday 🎂 🥳 meals but be careful the pubs 🚗 park you had to pay and display car part or a fine of £75 so be careful got a tiket when you git out of you car that's the 1st time I pay to be in a pub car parking 😉 🙋‍♂️👌

The usual Wetherspoons menu, food came in only a few minutes and there were plenty of tables to choose from on arrival.

very pleased with our visit .The food was served quickly and quality was good, value for money is excellent . The staff were amazing quick efficient and friendly. A very pleasant break after 2 hour motorbike ride.

I've just watched the tremendous teamwork of the catering operation in this pub. Very busy place. 40-45 minutes wait due to the number of orders. Real cooperation between the team, they worked hard throughout my ninety minutes visit. Well done.

£45 parking fine, even though I paid for parking. Now I have to waste time appealing to Euro Car Parks. It's not worth going to the Red Lion for this kind of stress. Why do they outsource parking to a business that makes money out of parking fines? Food and drink mediocre, would have been good value without the fine.

I like this pub. The staff are always friendly. The food is quite good and the prices are very reasonable.

Went to The Red Lion, Weatherspoons Petersfield on Sunday morning for breakfast, we have been there before many times, Never again, the food just a simple traditional English breakfast how hard is it To make? What was served up was absolute rubbish not fit for a dog, what on earth is going on?? Old saying you get what you pay for. Tim would not be pleased 😂

Ordered on the app. Had fish and chips, fish was overcooked. Beer was 90% of a pint! If I had been served at the bar, I would have asked for a top-up. I don't plan to visit this one again.

Good for a quick meeting of friends and lunch

My family don’t know the area & was out & about that way. We decided to stop off for food & came across this Wetherspoons. It is quite a busy road & saw it last minute so we drove in. Food was ok service was ok, pub was ok itself, average atmosphere. A week later we received a parking fine. Apparently there is a tall sign facing the road before you actually go into the Wetherspoons car park. Who knew, not one member of staff made sure we had seen it or even asked if we had paid for parking. Very angry about it as we would have paid without a doubt however it WAS NOT CLEAR & felt the signage is in a sneaky position. Wetherspoons should make sure the public are aware, shame on you & the companies that try to make money from the innocent.

I had my first ever management job here, aged 19, for Beefeater. I lived above it. I'm 55 now and my last job was running 6 Westfield shopping centres in Queensland turning over almost $5bn and 65 M visits each year. What a journey! Strong and memorable memories of 60 hr weeks at the Red Lion Petersfield.

Typical wetherspoons, good value, quick service. Had pub quiz on too so good fun.

Spoonies Sunday breakfast washed down with gallons of tea.👍 Yes, you have to pay to park in its own car-park but you do get most of it back at the till.

The only downside to put it nicely is the carpark which is operated by euro car parks company. Machine malfunctioned and Never asked me for my Vechile reg, it still went ahead with payment through and I got a ticket which I displayed on the dashboard. Then got a letter saying I had breached their car park rules and was fined, I sent through edivence and proof I paid and they declined my appeal. So the red lion itself.. Excellent place and great food, just never use their car park because a bad company runs it.

We always make a point wherever we go, to eat at least once in Spoons. Hungry Horse is near my daughter but doesn't open till 10.30am. Service is always great in this pub, tables clean and no rough crowds in there in the evening. Ticks all the boxes for us especially when taking the whole family out.

Cheap and , cheap. Great when the staff are on form and happy. Convenient and, yes, Cheap. Parking onsite is refundable but can get busy. Remember to tell the staff if you've parked.

The Red Lion does the job when you are hungry but you don’t feel like spending a lot of money on food and drink. The restaurant itself is functional rather than aesthetically pleasing. Service is quick and can be done on the Wetherspoons app. For us eating their last night the main issue was that our food was not hot enough. Didn’t complain just accepted it on the basis that we actually got really good value for money (all had meal and drink deals) so overall we were satisfied.

It's a wetherspoons so knew what to expect. But the food was terrible. Atmosphere was good and staff were friendly.

After walking around Petersfield on a Sunday morning looking for a place to eat, I popped into Wetherspoons. The prices were significantly less than anything else in town! I ordered via the app and the service was incredibly fast. Included in the price of the avocado on muffins was a hot drink. I added a poached egg and enjoyed the free refill of coffee. All this for less than a fiver! Great value and super delicious!

We had to ask for the table to be cleared and wiped. It took a while, but it was done eventually. The establishment was busy, but not run-off-your-feet busy. No excuse, in my opinion, for tardiness. My husband's Chicken Jalfrazi was acceptable. My fish and chips on the other hand were in my opinion substandard. The chips were overcooked, not particularly hot, and quite honestly tasted like they'd been left by other diners and served up again. The fish, although the fish itself was OK, the batter was barely there on the top of the fillet and soggy underneath.

Friendly, drinks cheaper than anywhere else. Good pub.

Food and staff were great, the reason for the one star review is the parking, we have had two parking notices now as the times are out on the machine, we had just under an hour stay, the minimum parking amount is an hour, it said we were 48 minutes over our stay, Euro Car Parks are modern day cowboys, appealed the decision, still got the fine, steer clear.

Had an enjoyable family dinner at The Red Lion Petersfield. Service was excellent despite it being very busy last night. All meals ordered & paid for via a smart phone app from table. The only downside need to check food arrives hot, one member of party the burger with cheese & bacon along with burger roll was still frozen when brought to table but staff quickly responded and resolved the problem

Popped in after attending the christmas market, had mulled wine which was a nice surprise and some pigs in blankets for that touch of the season. Its a spoons, so an eclectic mix of people who, to be fair, were there for the same reason. Staff were very friendly, polite and customer service was the best we'd had in a wetherspoons.

Lovely food but TERRIBLE carparking. I accidentally overstayed the carpark as i thought id paid enough to the meter and had relaxed in the cosy pub after our meal, and have now been fined with a £75 bill for it!! Reduced to £45 as i paid early as i know this company will take you to small claims court and that is a stress i dont need but this is too much money for what wouldve been £1 more in the meter - its disgusting that these companies are allowed to exist!!! And its Despicable that we are charged for parking when actually utilising the restaurant- i cant afford to make this very simple mistake (where no-one but me was hurt) again so will be eating out at the many other local restaurants in the town instead, where parking is either free or paid for via an app. What a shame!!

Food is alright. Basic pub grub. Will do fine for a quick lunch. Staff are all very pleasant and it’s a comfortable place to be.

Everything was OK, only gripe was that lots of tables hadn't been cleared and we had to sit at an uncleared or clean table.

Ok it's a Weatherspoons, so you know what you're going to get and it doesn't disappoint. Still it's cheap, service was very cheerful and has a good range of drinks which is more than a lot of the expensive pubs can say.

Car park machine. Money back on food order £1.50. Eggs over cooked and hard. Service OK. Disabled access very very difficult, two close doors opening outwards only. With no room between for wheelchair.

In there often. A particularly nice Spoons. Food could be a bit hotter at times but what do you want for a tenner including a pint. No complaints from me.

Ordered an apple crumble on my App and didn’t realise that I had to tick a box for custard. I asked if I could have some custard as it comes with the crumble . The kitchen staff refused to let the waitress have some to give me . Very poor customer service ..

I've eaten in many Wetherspoons, and this one is the worst. It was cold inside, and when my lasagne and salad turned up, it was a toss-up to say which was the coldest . Its the first Wetherspoons were the food has come out just past defrost stage. Also at no point did any staff ask how our food was. My wife's lasagne was just as cold.

Excellent service even when very busy and the food was hot which is unusual for wetherspoons.

Well what can I say? This really is a lovely big pub, full of little rooms here and there with a single large space in front of the bar. The staff were very friendly and happy to share a laugh. Out the back is quite a respectably sized beer garden with plenty of space to enjoy the late summer sunshine. As per usual, the fish & chips was excellent and totally NOT greasy as you seem to get a a lot of spoons. If you have difficulty walking or are in a wheel chair, take note that there are a couple of steps throughout, but you can probably get where your going by just choosing the best door. The Guinness was also excellent.

Visited for lunch, wasn't too busy. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Lunch took approximately 15 minutes to be served from ordering at the bar. I had ham egg and jacket potato, it was okay, the eggs were overcooked and the jacket was very small. Partner had steak and chips, part of the steak was tough, another was okay, very fatty piece of meat though.

Well, it's a weatherspoons pub, so it does what it says 'on the tin'. A wide menu selection, with a soft drink or beer for £10 or less. Curry, pizzas, burgers, fish, and chips. Ice cream, etc. The place is huge, with lots of smaller areas that all flow into one another. There is a pay and display car park at the side, but be careful parking here as I got a parking ticket. The festival car park is only 1 minute walk away and free after 6 pm. You order and pay at the bar for food. You need to tell them your table number, or you can download the app and order from your phone while sitting at the table. There is free WiFi that you have to sign in to use. It's never too busy in the evenings. You can usually get a table. There are tvs always on and fruit machines if you don't value your money..

Cracking pub, kept clean and tidy, lovely staff, great food and drinks, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a nice atmosphere. Overall, it's a brilliant Spoons

Lovely Pub but scenery not matched by the standard of my Food. Big fan of Spoons but the Fish I was served was to be frank dreadful. More like a batter biscuit containing only a trace of Fish. As it was bought for me by friends I was not in a position to rant about it to the manager. So was a bit frustrated. Let's hope its a one off as I will continue to be a patron of various Spoons. Rant Over.

Service was slow. When we eventually got our food it was cold.....gave them the benefit of doubt and went again. Twice this has happened Food was cold again.... Will not be using this place again or recommending it.

As far as Wetherspoons go this is one of the best. Plenty of seating. Clean tables and cheerful staff. The garden consists of a little court yard and isn't a great sun trap.

Had a Ham panini and I have to say it was an extremely poor portion of ham. Probably 1-2 small slices in the whole portion. Poor portion of chips too. Not worth the money to be honest. Poorly presented too. Drinks and service was fine however and it's a lovely big place.

Pretty disappointed at my most recent visit, hadn't been for a couple years, came in late morning to find out they had no bacon or sausages, a bit annoying as we specially came in for a an all brunch. So I had a burger instead, looked and tasted like something from McDonald's, chips were soggy. Shame really.

I was fortunate to have the Manager's Special 4.99 for fish, chips, and garden peas. I also had a portion of onion rings and a side order of roasted vegetables. The main meal was good, but the sides weren't the best. The Shipyard craftbeer was very good, too. Just over £11.00 for the filling feast. Sunday night is quiz night.

If you want cheap drinks this is the place to go but it lacks atmosphere, the staff don't seem to want to be there and it's a bit shabby inside! But really cheap drinks!!

Normally love a spoons meal but sadly this was not one to write home about. Firstly the app would not take my kids order, whatever I tried to chose it told me it wasn't available but when I then ordered at the bar they were all available??? Then although the food was served quick, my beans were only warm? Service at the bar was quite slow and I only saw three staff doing orders and plates to table so maybe they had a staff shortage that day. On the flip side, my wife said her fish and chips was fantastic. Anyway Wetherspoons, your prices and tasty food (when hot) will always be too good to totally say no, so don't worry!

General poor service from two staff, each looked to the other to serve. The food quality was poor, I had fish and chips, the fish was overcooked and the batter was burnt. My wife had the best deal of all, she only ordered a sparkling water with ice! Wetherspoons are usually quite good, but avoid this one! The fact that it was empty on a sunny Thursday afternoon should have alerted me

Really rude bar staff. A blonde girl who rolled her eyes and scoffed at us. The worst experience I've had ever. Some people do not belong in customer service. As some one who does, it's not hard not to be rude.

Booked the side room for a private function only to turn up with people in there and no sign of prior warning the area was booked. Over 20 of us had to wait around the bar area for over 45 minutes for the people to clear out. Manager didn't have any knowledge of our booking, poor communication between staff meant our booking wasn't put on the board. - I'd paid a large deposit to reserve the room, so to have to wait was very frustrating. When we did get chance to order food, half the items weren't available! No steak, on steak night... No pizza dough....ridiculous. Staff all seemed fed up and bored, clearly didn't want to be there. And manager had to be involved in the ordering process as the guy serving hasn't been told how to charge to a 'tab'. So many unnecessary obstacles for what should have been an easy and fun evening.

It was a very grubby place,the floors and furnishings were very dirty The food we ordered was undercooked . The waitress was friendly.

I work at a local business in Petersfield. I bought a lunch with a free drink. They failed to ask my what my free drink was, so I made sure to ask for it when I was paying. They had the nerve to try and charge me for the drink on the basis that they put the food order through first and that was somehow my fault. Dumbfounded I said "you didn't ask me what my free drink choice was, hence me prompting you" The bartender called over to his fellow colleague and both agreed I should've asked for the drink, rather than expect to be prompted (AS IT IS PART OF THE OFFER CLEARLY PRINTED ON THE MENU). Congratulations lads, while you annoy and scam paying customers who'd frequent regularly; today, you've lost the potential for ongoing custom from a local business and it's staff. Recommend you avoid. There are far better locations in this town and we knew what we were bargaining for when we chose a Wetherspoons. In that regard, it didn't disappoint.

purchased meal and when we were in the garden sat to eat it we were asked to leave because we had a cockapoo dog with us. the place was almost empty but the manager said no dog policy was enforced inside and out. What a load of rubbish, we were outside not taking drugs like some at Weatherspoon's. at the age of 67 and 60 don't they think we can look after an old dog. we looked for signs saying so and theirs was a small one at the entrance to the main pub but we went round the back where no signs were visible.
