I booked a table in the restaurant for a special occasion. On arrival we were told that there was a half hour wait for food. We were fine with this as we understand it was a busy time with it being the fireworks night locally. What we were not prepared for was the unfortunate attitude of the supervisor when we complained to her about it being an excessive wait of one and a half hours for the food. She did not care at all. She was smirking . The food was very nice. But the supervisor did not care that the lateness of the food caused us to miss the fireworks night locally. We thought 2 hours prior to it was adequate enough. Had we been told there was over an hour to wait for food we would have cancelled our booking. I am sure supervisor will not care but we will not be returning. We can overlook food being late but will not overlook the poor attitude of this supervisor that clearly did not give a hoot and actually smirked when we told her we had missed the fireworks.

Booked this for a stopover after a family party, wasn’t expecting much but pleasantly surprised! We had a great meal in the restaurant and they had live music too. As promised the music finished at 10.30pm not to annoy residents and every body were pleasant and willing to help. The only minor negative was the bed was not overly comfortable but was more than made up for by the rest of the experience

We were a group of 5 ladies. We'd booked a table for dinner on Monday 5th August 2024. The food was excellent. 4 of us had steak, it was delicious and tender, the 5th had a veggie burger, also very good. The waitress was cheerful, efficient and attentive. The food was well presented and hot. Desserts were also excellent. Prices were competitive. It was quiet as it was a Monday evening but we couldn't fault anything. We will definitely return!

Went with friends for a meal at this lovely pub. We were surprised at how quiet it was for a Saturday night, but apparently, it gets very busy on Friday evenings & and Sundays. The meals are great & very plentiful. In fact, my husband & I decided to share a starter the next time we visit. Which we will. The staff were attentive without being too obvious & and there when we needed drink refills. We all agreed the food was great. Between us, we had main courses of steamed meat pudding, steak, gammon, curry & vegetable curry. So, a good selection. A great experience & one we will use again

We recently held a wake at The Robin Hood Inn. The food was excellent with a fantastic selection of dishes and so much of it! Tea and coffee were also provided at a table to help yourself. The staff were empathetic and attentive. The choice of music played was spot on and helped to create exactly the relaxed atmosphere we’d hoped for. They wanted everything to be perfect for us. We were so pleased to have chosen this venue. It was also conventionally close to The Oaks crematorium at Havant. As an observation, the food being served to other diners looked amazing! We shall be returning to sample it!

Food abysmal. Thick suet pud, tasted awful, probably reheated badly in a microwave, surrounding poor quality meat, a few carrots and broccoli, lots of potatoes. Pub guy asked how the meal was and when told he just said 'sorry about that'. Nobody else to complain to. Main course for two plus soft drinks cost £41. Don't go there, plenty of better pubs not far away.

The staff couldn't be more accomodating or friendly, from being frantic to book on the phone to the man who waited on us! They were so good when we were left put out by another local pub whose online booking system failed and left our party of 10 hungry on a Sunday afternoon. We all had a roast and not one plate had anything left because it was so delicious, we go out for Sunday roast a lot and this was amazing! Thanks so much!

We had a great lunch today and I only write reviews when the service has been good. Well today its been great. Thank you to Brook and Levi (hope that is your name, had to remember what Brook said!). We were asked what drinks we wanted within minutes of sitting down. Our food order was taken and we were warned that there was a big table that had just ordered so it would be a little while before we got our food. Levi checked on us and said it wouldn't be too much longer and asked us if we would like more drinks. Perfect service, thank you so much. What you guys didn't know is that two of us work closely with hospitality and can be really critical. No faults today. Food good and I would recommend a visit to anyone in the area.

Not been here before and we were looking for somewhere for lunch. Managed to get a table, and then we’re just left, staff chatting, my wife had to get up and go and get menus, (and it wasn’t busy) the napkin was stuck to the table as the table was dirty from the previously customer/s. Finally we were able to order drinks and food. Food was very good, when it turned up the poor girl had no idea which plate was who’s and she appeared terrified when we asked, which was which…. Bless her. Certainly the food was the high point to be fair. Would go back for the food. Roasts here clearly very good. Easy to access, parking and plenty of seating inside and some outside. This could have so easily have been 5 stars, it’s just being let down by what I believe is attention to detail, and on our visit the dirty table. (An easy fix, but shouldn’t happen) We didn’t stay so can’t comment on the rooms.

We enquired about getting the heating switched on and no one was able to help us. We were told “it tends to warm up in the evening” it didn’t. Booked this hotel online and had to change the dates. Emailed them and then spoke to the manager on the phone who sounded very helpful and assured me there was no problem to change the date. So I booked 4 nights for 20th September. On arrival I was told we did not have a booking, although they did find my email and I had information that would not have been known to me other than having had a conversation. They were most unhelpful and did not try to find alternative accommodation, despite it being evening and we were strangers to the area. All they offered was a cup of coffee! So beware when booking with this establishment. Luckily we ended up in a far better place but only after a stressful couple of hours, which as we are in our 70s and at the end of a long drive from the north , we really did not need.

Staff were very pleasant. The food was ok. I guess as it is in such a lovely area I was expecting something outstanding. Just seemed very expensive for a basic roast with carrots, cabbage and peas. The cauliflower cheese had to be paid for separately for £3.95 and the roasts started at £12.95, I think we had to pay more for the beef. There was nothing wrong with our dinner, but in my opinion, expensive for what it was. I would go back as maybe it was an off day.

Found ourselves in Rowlands Castle again so stopped by for lunch - delicious gluten free chicken, leek & ham pie on the specials board which we both opted for. Arrived quickly, hot and with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Didn't need a pudding though would have loved one. Discovered from their website there is 25% off on Mondays and Tuesdays (if you quote their code) so we popped over to treat ourselves. I had the steak & kidney pudding with new potatoes and fresh vegetables which unfortunately was barely warm - I drew this to the attention of our waitress who remedied the issue without question and a fresh meal arrived piping hot - it was absolutely delicious My husband had lasagne with chips and salad garnish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Again we were both too full to try a dessert - good excuse to return for a further visit.

I had to go and find a member of staff to ask for this. No one checked our meals were ok while we were eating. On finishing, no one acknowledged us and we waited 25mins before I had to ask for our plates to be cleared away and if we could order a desert. All of the above is a shame as the food was really nice. I can’t help but feel that the very recent ‘disgusting’ review might have nefarious motives as my experience today couldn’t have been further from their awful account of the Robin Hood. New to the area and first time here! Friendly welcome with a warm and nicely decorated bar area (that allows dogs!) and a much fancier looking restaurant space. Fairly busy in the bar when we arrived, managed a nice high table in the corner. The woman behind the bar was incredibly kind (to my dog, which is always a winner) and helpful. We had two roast dinners for £25 and we couldn’t finish everything because the portions were very generous! Nice meat, loads of vegetables, great Yorkshire puddings and fluffy roast potatoes. However my third visit was appalling, the staff were clearly wanting to go home and the food was awful. My starter was lovely but a bit slow. Had the beef roast, very very tough because of this I didn’t eat it. No one came over to ask how the meal was so I ate the potatoes and veg and left the beef. When I told the waitress at the end she said she would tell the chef. Nothing else came of this, don’t really like causing a scene as it ruins the mood but I won’t be returning any time soon which is a shame as like I said the first and second visit was lovely.

Proper Yorkshires, and the most amazing gravy - not the thin, watery stuff which so often accompanies roasts, but the perfect consistency and absolutely delicious. One of us had the pork, and said it was the best she'd tasted and the crackling was perfect. We were served by attentive staff, with just the right amount of humour added. The ambience was excellent. We will most certainly be back.

29 of us went here for a Christmas party. From beginning (doing the booking) to the end (saying good bye to us at the end of the meal) it was a great experience. The staff were really helpful in taking the booking and helping me organise the event, making sure the menus and choices were all right and accommodating last minute changes.

We had booked a table for 3 people on a Friday evening. We arrived on time and ordered a bottle of white wine whilst we waited for the menus. The wine arrived with a comment that they had run out of wine coolers. We waited for some time before asking for the menus. After ordering we had an excessively long wait for our food. After a week at work most people want their food to arrive in a reasonable time. Our main courses arrived some 90 minutes after our arrival. At one point we were told that we would be the next to be served. When the food arrived it was attractively arranged and my vegetarian dish was good We were all too tired to be bothered with desserts or coffee. It was a pity that the good food was let down by the excessive wait.

Ate here on Thursday 8th November at lunchtime. Restaurant wasn’t busy. I had the rib eye steak. Hubbie had the lamb shank. Both were delicious. Service was really good too. We will return

Popped in for a meal with the family but we were late and the restaurant was closing for a few hrs, both chefs Neil and Steve where happy to make some lovely sandwiches with lots of extras for us all, that’s what I call service and it came with a smile, really enjoyed it.

We went to the Robin Hood last Friday for their 241 fish and chips offer. The restaurant was quite busy but we were soon served large fillets of cod, lots of triple cooked chunky chips and peas by a friendly waitress (Jane). The fish was perfect and in a light crispy batter. Overall the meal was excellent value at £6.25 each.

When we received a flyer through our letterbox advertising 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for just £30 on any wednesday during October we thought there must be a catch. But no, there wasn't ! We each had a good sized sirloin (tender and cooked exactly as we had asked for) together with lots of chunky chips, onion rings, field mushroom and a bottle of easy drinking and pleasant French merlot.

Spent a great evening here with family, we all enjoyed our meals. Previous reviews had said about portion sizes, I can only say definitely prefer the quality over quantity. Also enjoyed the ales. Great evening.

Been many a time. Food always tastes great. Lovely rustic but modern atmosphere. However to be expected to pay nearly £16 for 2 small squares of pork belly and a blob of potato while jealously watching my friend eat his cheaper but much for fulsome meal was somewhat disappointing. Even my partner said her meal could have done with a bit more veg for the price of it. Felt a bit deceived by the menu description. Sounded a lot bigger when you read it. Have never publicly complained before and maybe wouldn’t have done if both meals were £8 each. Manageress took on board constructive criticism professionally and very kindly (stating herself she didn’t know why chef’s portions were so small) refunded price of one of the meals. Didn’t appreciate Chef trying to stare us out through kitchen window more than once. Which maybe shows he cares and will learn. Happy to catch his eye. Sensitive soul bless him. He could have come out and apologised in person if he wanted to. We wouldn’t bite. Would go again.

Plenty to eat. Well cooked meat. Crispy roast potatoes and 6 vegetables including cauliflower cheese and red cabbage. Everything nicely presented on the plate. Friendly service. This pub is local to me, so I will be going again.

In years past this pub offered good meals for a good price. We often went down on a Friday for buy one get one free fish and chips. Horrified when we returned recently (August 2018) to find not only do they not do that anymore (fair enough) but that a fish and chips now cost 14 pounds each! For a pub in Hampshire thats ridiculous. Especially as they forgot to season the batter on the fish. The other thing that really needs to change is the total lack of any soft furnishings, curtains etc in the dining area which makes it seem like a cold drab area. Plus the noise levels are way too high as the sound reverberates around the room. Very difficult to hear conversations. Perhaps they should invest all that money they've made on the most expensive fish and chips ever on a few curtains and rugs..........

Had a disappointing experience - I found myself in need of lunch and checked their website to see what time they served food. It said until 2pm - it was already 1.30pm so I raced over there, parked and practically ran in to the pub and straight up to the bar to place an order. I was pleased to make it to the bar for 1.55pm as I was absolutely starving hungry and there aren’t exactly a lot of lunch options available in the local area. Sadly, I was told that the kitchen had already closed ten minutes earlier. I mentioned that I’d raced over having checked the time on the website so it would be good if they could get the website updated to show what time last food orders are to save someone else having the same problem. Instead of just apologising (which is all I was expecting, I wasn’t expecting the kitchen to be re-opened for me) the two staff behind the bar decided instead to argue with me about it. First they implied that I should have known that the kitchen closes for orders before the time stated on the website. Perhaps this is something that’s known among people who work in the industry(?) but as a customer, if a website says the kitchen is open until 2pm, I assume that means I can order food until 2pm if it doesn’t say a different time (e.g. kitchen open until 2pm, last orders at 1.45pm). When I said this and just asked politely again if they could get this added to the website they then moved on to trying to say I’d been too late and had arrived after 2pm. I showed them my iPhone as I already had it in my hand which still showed it being 1.58pm. They then moved on to saying that they go by the kitchen clock which said it was after 2pm (in which case the kitchen clock is incorrect as iPhone times are set automatically to GMT). Anyway…all this to say….all I expected was an apology and a bit of empathy. Getting into a back and forth argument with a customer just because they’ve asked if the website could be updated to show there is an earlier “last orders” time to save anyone else the same trouble is not good service. Having previously had a good opinion of the pub, I left feeling irritated (as well as hungry!). I run two businesses and wouldn’t dream of arguing the toss with a customer in the same way. I’ve had good food and service previously so will happily take this review down if / when the website is updated to state when last food orders must be placed.

Ordered balloons for my daughters first birthday party and they were lovely. They also made the process very easy and came and set up and took away anything that was needed very promptly. Will be using them again and would highly recommend!
