Went to The White Hart in Nettlebed on Easter Sunday for a family dinner. We all decided on a carvery as we had been previously, but many years ago and had enjoyed! Unfortunately to our dismay the food was horrible, and did not taste like a roast dinner should. The service was not good either and everything seemed to be rushed and a bit chaotic! We were very disappointed especially when this pub used to be so nice! Unfortunately we shall not be returning!

Waited 25 minutes for a ‘Croque Monsieur’. Got flabby bread (hardly toasted) with some ham and cheese, completely drowned in béchamel sauce over the whole thing, and melted cheddar inside instead of gruyère. Pretty useless, pretty disappointing. They garnished it with micro greens/ flowers so maybe that took time.

Not interested in apps, just simply wanted to make a phone order. on answer of phone, was told to use the app, ended up taking order via phone call, staff was polite but pushed for app, mark food 4/10, orders, chips burgers and chicken, chicken tasted terrible and more like fish, really disappointed!

Great chippy! Massive portions of chips, 1 large chips will feed 3!

Under the new management this pub can only thrive. It is a warm welcome and a place where a sense of community seems to be important.

Faced with the challenge of finding a conveniently-located venue for a birthday lunch for nine people on a busy Saturday, the landlord and his young team did a fantastic job making us welcome, and providing us with dedicated use of the pub's 'snug' room. The food, drink and service were excellent, and the team cheerfully continued to carry on meeting our needs right through until tea time. Thank you for helping to make our family get-together extra special - and for your patience.

Our club had a Christmas meal here, we were all impressed with the food, the friendly atmosphere and the location. There were 14 of us and we were looked after very well. A brilliant time was had by all and the food was second to none. My gratitude goes to the team that made our meal such a success.

Stayed one night to catch cruise the following morning, staff were very friendly and polite, great service, excellent breakfast great choice and overall lovely hotel to stay

Friendly and welcoming. We waited about 15 minutes to get the food after we ordered and the bacon Avacado bap was amazing.

I used to go here quite often but stopped going when the proprietor changed. It looks like little has changed, same menu at higher prices, same beers. We ordered the steak and mushroom pie. The pastry wasn't quite how I remembered it but it was fine. Unfortunately it was only lukewarm and my wife didn't like the fact they had put gravy on it. If they served that separately it would be better. I chose Surrey Hills Shere Drop which is potentially an excellent beer, but here it was mediocre. The prices now seem over the top. Just along the road there's another pub that is much classier and has lower prices! It also turned out that they add a service charge here although I didn't see that on the menu and when I challenged it they didn't claim it was there. They hadn't even produced a bill listing it. They did refund it but that doesn't make it legal. It's not as if you get restaurant service anyway. To order you have to stand at the bar waiting for them to deign to come out from the back and you carry your drinks to the table. They do bring your food to the table but that's about it. One to avoid I'm afraid.

Cosy, tidy and clean are excellent starts for the Old House. Menus is quite limited and my burger was very wet, just dripping oil which makes for messy eating. Service was good, could have been more friendly but remember this isn't a restaurant. I would eat here again.

Not visited for a couple of years, but every bit as good as we remembered. Excellent fish and chips, wonderful value too. Very friendly staff, and the beer too was very good. Thanks!

First visit. Very lovely welcome. Good food. We had lasagne and a roast beef both were good. Will visit again.
