Exceptional Sunday roast. Plenty of hot freshly cooked food and no long wait. Yorkshire puddings spectacular. Great cauli cheese and freshly cooked veg. Good to be offered extra if wanted but portions were good. Friendly helpful staff

The Prince is the go to place in Shrivenham.fantasic atmosphere lovely staff and a natural landlord. He might have fake hips but he's definitely No fake lol.when in the area we always love to pop in,purely because it's a great pub.

Absolutely top notch Sunday roast, ticked all the boxes...gravy was spectacular, obviously had lashings of vino tinto in it...perfect roast spuds, home made Yorkshire puds...10/10...all they need to do, is replace the red cabbage with green...or sprouts!...and a roasted carrot/ and or parsnip would make 12/10...and stuffing with the pork...15/10!...

A gorgeous traditional pun with a lovely garden. The landlord and the staff are always so welcoming and it’s a lovely atmosphere to walk in to. We had dinner here for my aunties 60th birthday, he had a wonderful meal and it felt really special. We had three courses and loved the whole thing, great food, service and value for money. Aside from the atmosphere and lovely staff, the POW is the best pub for food around!!!! You HAVE to try the buffalo chicken wings, superb!!!!!!!!!!!

Really disappointed with our food last night. We don’t usually eat here and our meal confirmed that we were correct not to do so. Greasy onion rings, chips weren’t great and the burgers were mediocre at best. As for the beer, cloudy and just bad, gave them a second chance last night but won’t be giving them a third. Such a shame because it could be a lovely pub and just what the village needs.

We came to the pow for dinner. What a disappointment. I had burger and chips. I can honestly say a Rustlers burger would have been nicer. Awful chips and absolutely disgusting salad. It looked like it had been taken off someone else's plate. Two onion rings. Awful bun. The worst was the beer. Awful. Came home and feel so ill.

Popped in as passing by on our return homeward from weekend away on Tuesday pm. Staff super friendly and atmosphere was lovely, as it was early evening. I had the Steak Burger which was great with side salad, onion rings, & fries. Unfortunately my wife had the Bangers & Mash where the sausages were rock hard! After a quick chat with the bar staff and an apology, a few minutes later, a new dish arrived. Although it was a fresh dish, it lacked some flavour! Couldn’t fault the bar staff and it was a shame as we don’t normally complain. Hopefully just a one off.

Super welcoming traditional pub - food was great. Really beautiful with lots of cosy and welcoming nooks as well as more open spaces to sit and enjoy a meal. Ben and Crazy Dave were up for some friendly banter and wait staff were attentive and smiling. A really charming place to experience a traditional English pub meal. We ordered a fish and chips 10 pound special, a pie and a vegetable curry (both around 13 pounds), all delicious. Only sorry we couldn't stick around for some of the live music we saw advertised later in the week. It is located in a gorgeous village centre. Highly recommended.

We booked a surprise party for a 30th at the Prince of Wales. The team were really helpful and welcoming. The service was fast and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food is tasty and the portions are generous. We loved the squid and the PoW burger, they were our favourite. Thank you to all at the PoW for a lovely evening. We will be returning!

Last minute Sunday lunch booking but they managed to fit us in. Really lovely traditional pub, with an open fire and welcoming atmostmosphere. Food was delicious, the roast dinners were freshly cooked and very filling. Several vegan options available and I had another other main that was adapted. Will definitely be visiting again soon!

Went here for Mothers Day Sunday 10th March. Fantastic meal and dessert together with red wine and beer. Sat by the fire which was lovely and warm. To top it all chocs and flowers on the table which was a lovely gesture. Thanks to everybody that made our day special. Will certainly return.

Called into the pub after stopping off at Shrivenham, we received a nice friendly welcome from Dan when we walked in, the decor is nice and bright. We had lunch from the extensive menu, they also had specials available We will be back to try the Sunday Lunch

Very tasty beef, crunchy roast potatoes, excellent gravy and served with a good portion of nicely cooked veg. Plates and serving dishes hot - hurrah! Friendly and quick service. Make sure you book ahead. Many thanks to Ben and his team 😄

We have been here a few times since July 2023 when we moved up the road. Ben is a great host and all the staff are excellent, as yet sadly we are not sure who is who but they all work so hard. Came again in December me and my wife, her 3 grown up children and their partners plus 4 grandchildren all on the snug. Variety of food and all cooked well and great value. Went today, fish and chips with mushy peas twice plus 2 apple crumble. Excellent Meal and brilliant service from the bar staff and waiter who served us. Made to feel welcome and only a 5 - 10 minute walk. Thanks everyone Michael and Tracy

Lovely pub with real fire, real ales and great food. Hayley, Sarah and Ben looked after us and made us feel very welcome. We shall be back!

Havent been here for about 2 years but as we have now moved in up the road, we can "walk to the pub" Great, plentiful pub menu with some great dishes - but, we opted to go for the £30 per person 3 course menu - we both had baked camambert - massive portion and my wife had the turkey and i went for the braised beef (which was delicious) - followed by desert - we were stuffed. A couple of pints and that was done and dusted and we walked home. Adviseable, to book - although plenty of space in the bar area if arriving between 7 and 8pm. Some great staff and service was good. Three of us meet for lunch every couple of months and since the Prince reopened under new management, we always come here. Guaranteed a warm welcome and great food. It's a bonus that it's very dog friendly. See photo of one happy dog!

We've been for the quiz and curry night twice now and the curries are great. They were the best pub curries we've had. The first was a lamb rogan josh and the other was a Thai chicken curry. They were superb, very tasty and they had a nice level of spice. Too often pub curries are just tomato stews with rice but these were proper curries. The staff are friendly and the pub has a nice cosy atmosphere.

We accidentally stumbled upon this little gem. Our daughter had a hockey fixture against the nearby Pinewood School. Good service, amazing crispy chicken wrap with the best chunky chips. Loved the mash potato with my sausages.

We decided to eat here having read the good reviews and were not disappointed! We booked ahead as we were a large group (9 people) and were seated in a private room with a big dining table. The decor is lovely and the welcome warm and friendly. The food and service were both excellent - we couldn’t fault it! Some of the group ordered the Sunday roast and others ordered burgers. Everyone was extremely happy with their food. The staff were extremely attentive, efficient and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Our group of four were all very satisfied with the food and service at The Prince of Wales. We were able to find a table well away from a table of extremely raucous men in the main bar, and were served quickly and cheerfully with some very satisfying food. The prices were reasonable, and the whole experience was very good. We would go there again, definitely!

The landlord managed to squeeze us in last Wednesday when on our way home from a day out. We’d completely forgotten about the Eat Out, Help Out scheme running and couldn’t get in anywhere for dinner (2 adults, 3 offspring). I’m so glad we found this pub - they were flat out busy but they were very accommodating & squeezed us in. The service & food were great. We had a lovely meal and will hopefully return if out that way again.

On Friday's the POW provides a special meal of Fish & Chips for £7.50This is an excellent deal as the meal is generous, the chips are crispy and the batter is light & delicious.Can't recommend this enough - you should pick mushy peas to go with it.

My daughter & family have just moved to the village so we decided to book for an evening meal. Well, we were treated to an absolutely fantastic meal along with an excellent array of good value drinks. The two girls had lamb shanks, with the sumptuous meat falling of the bone, and my son-in-law and myself thoroughly enjoyed the £32 Saturday Special - 2 x Ribeye steaks + a bottle of wine. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Four adults + a 3 year old all ate and drank for just less than £90 (and we had 2 rounds of drinks before the meal) - how could you go wrong with that - great food, drink and staff could not be more helpful. We booked (necessary) for 6pm and it was full with families, which was lovely but couples may like to book a later time. Can’t wait to visit again, soonest.

came here for a weekday dinner with some drinks. Website booking appeared not to work but it was not busy so did not really matter. Beer and food were both reasonable for the price and the service was quick and efficient. A nice village pub with better beer and food choice than many, but nothing special. Chosen based on TA and not let down. Not a lot of competition in Shrivenham but nicer than College Farm at Watchfield.

We booked in advance and were given a nice little table in the restaurant area. Nice and warm with all tables full and 2 waitresses on.

We arrived for the Jazz night that had been advertised. There was a lovely atmosphere and an excellent trio playing. We soon wished that we had waited to eat here. The food going past our table looked wonderful. A good musical evening in front of a blazing log fire.

A quietly confident snug old style English pub on High Street Shrivenham. Not only is it dog friendly, it is also dog welcoming. The food is standard fare —the fish n chips were terrific— and the Guinness is not bad. Only problem is slow service due to understaffing. We waited a while for our orders to be taken and a couple walked out. The wait staff was confused which is understandable as there was no backup. Put on more staff and the problem would be solved. It's a terrific pub for a few drinks in the evening—

Called in here on the off chance we could get lunch at 14:00. Food was good but the bar was cold which somewhat spoilt the meal. However the food was good enough for me to want to return another time.

I came here with a small group of friends for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We placed our orders at the bar (as usual). We were told that some of the menu items were not available, and changed our orders accordingly. We then proceeded to wait more than 90 minutes to get our food. No member of staff came over to us to explain the situation. My group had to go to the bar on three separate occasions to enquire about our orders. When our food arrived, our orders were incorrect. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told that no one was in house. After a manager was called, and we reached a resolution half of our group left. The others wanted to stay for another round of drinks. They were refused service. I won't be coming again.

A local pub visited for the first time. Staff were friendly & very welcoming. Good selection of food on the menu for a Sunday lunchtime. Nice sized portions, with smaller ones available if required. Reasonably priced as well. There were several real ales on offer. Overall a great experience. Would definitely recommend it.

My friend and I met in Shrivenham for dinner and the Prince of Wales had a decent selection on the menu. Since there was no cod, my friend had the halloumi burger with sweet potato fries and I had the steak and Stilton salad. Both were very decent and my steak was particularly delicious. We sat in the garden at the back and had a very pleasant evening. Service was excellent, though it was 6pm and a quiet evening, so couldn’t comment on a busier time.

What a gem of a pub in the middle of the High Street in the delightful Cotwolds town of Shrivenham. We had Sunday lunch here and dinner on a weekday. We also stopped in for tea and a beer in the garden in the back. The food was all so delicious. The lamb shanks were excellent. And the sticky toffee pudding we had for dessert on two occasions was simply the best we have ever had. Thank you Eddie (cook extraordinaire) who made such great food and was such a friendly guy. We really enjoyed talking to you, when you weren't too busy. And your recommendation of going to Lacock Abbey and Village was the best. We had a fantastic time at this beautifully preserved National Trust property. We wish we had this Pub in our city but in Canada, we make do with chains like Original Joe's which aren't bad but definitely lack the charm and the much more interesting menu items of the Price of Wales.

I went here with my girlfriend and we can't stop talking about the cooked steak it was absolutely amazing.

After a 100 mile cycle there are a few things you need, a pint, some food and quick service and I got all three at The Prince of Wales in Shrivenham and I was even blessed by sunshine in the beer garden.

Non male il cibo. Qualcosa era magari riscaldato ma i Main courses non erano affatto male. Ordinato pesce e burgers, ci siamo tutti trovati bene. Varietà delle birre buona. Molto bene anche il servizio. Probabilmente ci tornerò. Consiglio vivamente.

Went to the PoW today on a bell ringing outing for lunch. I ordered scampi and chips with onion rings as a side. The scampi was nice but the chips a bit soft and not crunchy. I didn’t get my side of onion rings and only remembered when I’d finished my main. I reminded the staff and when they came there were about eight and they looked and tasted exactly as though they had come out of a bag of cheap frozen one. On a hunch I went to the local Co-op and had a look. Lo and behold I saw a few massive bags of onion rings in the freezer that looked JUST like the ones I had had ten minutes beforehand! Gordon Ramsay would go ballistic if he knew about that...!

Six of us had the Fishy Friday specials that Eddie and his staff conjure up. Despite being shown as ‘a value deal’ it was not short of anything. From superb helping of cod & chips, scampi to poached cod or salmon, every fish palate is catered for. One out of the six was not so fishy but the ceaser salad was spot on. Great choice of beers to wash it down with excellent service.

I went here with the family and i got a steak and it was the best i ever had cooked how i wanted and staff was brillant.

Has 3 course meals, starters of nachos and calamari. Mains were steaks and lamb shanks. Dessert were melt in the middle chocolate pudding. Presentation was excellent and we were not disappointed with the steaks all cooked to what we requested, salad was fresh and tasty, chips were great, like we cook at home. The lamb shank was really great, the meat fell off the bone, the veg looked and tasted great. Gravy was very tasty. The whole meal was excellent and great value for money. It made a pleasant change to have fresh prepared food that looked and tasted great. The pub was very clean as were tables and all area's we could see. The staff were very helpful and patient as some of us couldn't make our minds up. We were well looked after by our waitress and bar staff. The pub was quite busy, but everyone seemed friendly and children and dogs are also welcome, a very refreshing change.

Standard average pub with limited options, a good selection of real ales but not much in the way of cocktails, would prefer them to add a Zombie to the menu. Food looked no better than you’d expect in a spoons.

Had a trip out of town to visit Shrivenham to try the Prince of Wales , Only had a drink to have a look at the menu .That looked ok will be back to try the food ,as for the beer its a Wadworths pub so it was ok if a little bit expensive . Very busy on the night of our visit as there was a funeral and the pub was the Wake destination ,so quite loud .

Excellent atmosphere, good ale , nice decor , separate dinning room albeit I prefer to eat in the bar . Very popular quiz nights on Tuesday and jazz nights usually on Thursday but check with pub first .

Visited with a large group. Ordered a pate with chutney starter, it came with no chutney so requested it and they brought out branston pickle. For desert I ordered ice cream which tasted like powder and must have defrosted before being re-frozen. Will attach a photo where you can just see the ice. Bill was wrong and they charged double for a Stilton sauce. I mentioned it and they tried to say that the sauce on the menu was actually if you ordered a block of Stilton... £40 for 3 courses plus a drink for one person and other than the main it was poor quality.

Visited at the weekend and indulged in the steak deal for two steaks including a bottle of wine, steak was cooked to perfection, lovely atmosphere was the making of a fantastic evening.. thanks to all the staff especially Eddie the landlord

Pub anglais typique avec très bonne nourriture et ambiance. L’endroit est vraiment très joli. J’y vais à chaque fois que je viens en Angleterre. It’s a shame I live so far away !
