Absolutely appalling customer service and attitude. I would not recommend this establishment. 45 minutes after ordering our main courses the waiter arrived with 3 of the five dishes advising they no longer had the other 2 and would we like to order something else. I have worked in hospitality and customer care for 30 years and am aware things can go wrong but the way the problems are handled is key. If the manager, landlord or chef had of come out and explained the situation and that there had been a mistake it could easily have been resolved and we could have enjoyed our birthday meal and eaten together, instead they sent the poor 16 year old part time waiter to the table who was not in a position to handle the situation. I asked the waiter if the manager would come and see us. He didn't arrive so 10 minutes later I asked again. Once again no one came to see us so I approached the person who had earlier welcomed us and sat us to our table. I asked why he had not come to see me and he said because he was busy and couldn't let people wait, (there were 9 people sat in bar, it wasn't busy), he then proceeded to ask why I had a problem and tried to fob me off saying it was because all the food they serve there is fresh ( which obviously doesn't explain the way its served, or not, in this case). There was not the slightest hint of an apology or explanation. When pushed he said he would remove the food we did not have from the bill (why thank you ! ). Becoming agitated with his lack of empathy and refusal to admit there had even been a problem coupled with some yokels jeering I rejoined our party, we paid and left. I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like it in hospitality and would never set foot in the establishment again which is a shame as the food that came didn't look as bad as the attitude. The whole situation could have been avoided with the manager coming to the table , advising there had been a problem , apologising asking what we would like instead and maybe even offering a bottle of wine or another drink whilst we waited (probable cost to the pub of a fiver). Instead all we got was the manager hiding in the bar then refusing to admit there was a problem, hence causing an argument. Go this establishment at your peril. The Fish and The Swan just up the road are friendly and hospitable and serve great food. Choose them.

I visited recently for a work lunch and I could not fault it. The location is lovely, parking is limited outside but there is overflow parking further down the main road, it’s a short walk. The pub is inviting and warm but not too stuffy. The staff were all friendly, inviting and very attentive especially for a large table. We barely had to wait for our food, once everyone had arrived and got their drinks, our starters were arriving, this was the same for our main and dessert. They timed it all very well. The food itself was lovely, great portion size and overall felt freshly cooked and like homemade food. Have already recommended to several people and would certainly visit again!

My friends and I decided to go out for dinner and also to watch the rugby at The Plum Pudding as it’s somewhere we’ve not been for years, sadly we won’t be returning after the way we were spoken to by the landlady! Two of us had a curry, this is priced at £17 and I can honestly say it was awful, the chicken was dry and there was virtually no tikka sauce, I personally think it had been cooked and heated up as the chicken was tough and the whole dish was bland, certainly not worth £17! another person in the group had fish and chips and when trying to cut into the batter some of the food ended up on the floor due to it being so over cooked, we asked to speak to the manager as we didn’t feel we could carry on eating the food, the landlady came over and asked in a very abrupt manner “ what seems to be the problem “ so we told her about the lack of sauce, the dry chicken and the over cooked fish, which I must add had hardly any fish in it, she was so rude didn’t give us the chance to say anymore and swiftly grabbed our plates and said “ I’ll take it off the bill and do you want anything else “ all said with such an attitude! I did ask her why was she being so rude to which she replied I’m not at all, what else do you want me to do ? To this I simply said just stop being rude to us, she then leant over to another member of the group and grabbed his plate almost hitting his wife in the face with it, obviously the landlady didn’t like the fact we had complained, we weren’t rude at all we just didn’t think it was right to have food of such a low standard served to us, it’s such a shame too because we all like the pub and the atmosphere & the spacious feel to it.

I stayed just one night at this oddly named pub whilst I was taking photographs at the remarkable Didcot railway centre which is about a 15-minute drive away. Located in a quiet area with easy parking outside I found the place to be both friendly and well equipped for an overnight stay. My bedroom was a reasonable size and had recently been refurbished. There was a desk for working, a flat screen TV, good Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed, hanging space and a chest of drawers, and a very modern bathroom with a walk in shower. I did not eat at the pub nor have breakfast there in the morning, but as an overnight stay it worked really well for me and I would stay there again if I was in the area.

A two night stay in a well patronised pub off the main road. Lots of space both in and outside. Serves cask beers and cider and is a CAMRA pub. Good food. Our room had a fridge in which our breakfast choices were kept and replenished. There is no cooked breakfast option but we were happy with a choice of cereals, croissants , yogurt. There was also some sliced meats, cheeses and orange jiuces. A bowl of fresh fruit and one of those George Clooney coffee thingies was fine for us. Good sized walk in wet room shower

My partner and I, along with some family, stayed at the Plum Pudding in September 2023 whilst attending a wedding nearby. The rooms were fantastic and the best rooms I've stayed in within a pub. Our room was clean, and fresh, and looked new. The en suite bathroom was a good size, excellent powerful shower, with toiletries too. The bed was comfortable and of good quality. There was a kettle, coffee machine and mini fridge in the room, which was stocked with items for a continental breakfast including croissants, cheeses, fruit, fresh milk, orange juice, bottled still and sparkling water, and a selection of sliced meats which was a superb touch. A brilliant location for us, but also a lovely area. We have eaten at the Plum Pudding previously with family and the food and service was fantastic, though we didn't eat on this occasion. There is also a separate entrance to the rooms, and so returning after the pub closed was not an issue. All the staff we encountered were very friendly, including the brunette lady cleaning the rooms in the morning, asking us how our stay was. It was incredibly hot weather during our stay due to the 30°C heatwave, but we had fans in the room, and the staff did what they could to keep the rooms cool prior to our arrival, and despite the heat we slept very well. Overall, a fabulous place to stay, and we would highly recommend to those considering it.

We picked the Plum Pudding at random as a stopover on our way home from a week's holiday up country, and very glad we did. The service was great and the staff extremely helpful - Nicki in particular was a credit to her employers. The room was clean and well laid out with an en-suite wet room, plus a continental breakfast in the mini-fridge. There was also a coffee maker and the usual kettle. Our evening meal was delicious and reasonably priced, with a stunning cheese board to follow. They had a beer festival on, so the place was busy, but there was no waiting or congestion, and we were royally looked after. Would definitely stay again, it's a very friendly and comfortable venue with great food.

I drive past here most days, so thought it was time I visited. Here on a quiet Tuesday night to be greeted by friendly welcoming staff. The open layout is a traditional English pub, a mix of dark wood furniture with an open fire to keep you warm. You walk in straight onto the bar which has a range of beers and drinks. I sampled the range of pub beers from a fruity ale, a fresh lager and a dark stout all with a Plum Pudding related moniker. One side of the bar is a snug arrangement for sitting the other is an open dinning area.I was in with a work colleague, I opted for the gammon and they had the swordfish steak. Both were fair sized portions and cooked to our liking.Definitely a place for a friendly decent country pub meal or relaxing night out.

Had Sunday lunch here sitting in the garden. Staff are friendly and helpful and food is tasty and reasonable value. We both had the roasted veg and feta salad followed by Apple crumble - which was excellent. Well worth a visit

A large party of us celebrated a birthday, we pre ordered from the complete menu and just about managed to all get into the New Conservatory all of us received our food around the same time no-mean feat. The food was well cooked and presented, the young staff were efficient and pleasant overseen by Mandy (landlady). Everyone enjoyed there meal, as usual the beers were in superb condition with a good choice of the style and strength of beers.

Recommended this place by the local social club following attending a christening party. Booked a table as we were told it gets packed. Arrived to find it empty. Felt very welcome by the staff, a gorgeous open fire burning and the restaurant to ourselves. There were 6 of us and all had dinner including starters. All food was delicious and waiting staff were lovely to deal with. Drinks flowed. If ever in the area again, will definitely visit.

Just a few people creating a nice atmosphere but that was all. Place is just ok. Not great beers’ choice and for what we got prices were higher than expected for this place and higher than other nicer places . Location is quiet and nice and you cannot tell that you are next to a business park .

We cycled here from Didcot, desperate to find new places to eat. We had high hopes as we walked in with a cheerful greeting and good service throughout (although only a few people in there). The food however was a different story. Starters were ok but Mains were terrible. The Sunday roast had Overcooked / reheated / chewy roast potato’s, fatty cold and chewy beef (inedible) drowned in a gelatinous instant gravy. We also had a vege option of a tasteless vege Shepard’s pie. Despite sending back a meal virtually in touched and stating it was horrible we were surprised to still get a bill for £70. (That did include 2 gin & tonics and a bottle of red). We have now cycled on another 5 min to the Swan in Sutton Courtenay which is ram packed with people who’s meals look fantastic !

Very disappointed we invited my family for an evening meal with us. The service was not good but it was not busy for food. My family ordered cod and chips and they were all cold we had to wait ten minutes for the last one to be served. I had the burger but the salad dressing was so strong I could not eat it the burger was burnt on the under side.

I was in a party of 36 for Christmas lunch from central London. I had the roast turkey and trimmings. The turkey was dry and covered in a very salty runny gravy. The stuffing was the packet type rolled into a ball and over cooked. Sprouts and carrots were tasteless. Lot of food on a plate does not substitute for quality. Smaller meal, better quality would have been much preferred. Lentil soup was over salted. The ginger and treacle tart and frozen yoghurt was the best I've ever tasted. Atmosphere was county pub-ish. Women's toilet could do with some updating. Service for the size of party was well conducted.

Ideally Free Houses would thrive and Tied houses would....get untied. This Free House looks interesting, but sadly it lacks atmosphere, and the food was tasteless. I understand that it has a captive audience [Milton Park at lunchtime] so you'd hope they would be on top of their game. Sadly, the food was of medium quality [OK, its pub grub but why not £2 more and double the quality?] and, more to the point, it was really without any taste. Obviously chef hasn't heard of onions or herbs... I'd go back if it changed, but otherwise, another local pub that goes on my 'no thanks' list. We do have one excellent local, always busy, you'd think the word might get around.....?

This B & B is fantastic setting new standards for this area of south Oxfordshire. Greeted by friendly staff at the bar of the pub quickly shown to our room, out in the garden at the rear of the pub, very well hidden and private. The entrance is large enabling you to remove wet coat and shoes before entering the bedroom which is well appointed from which you enter the large wet room/WC. Hope the light switches have been transposed. The breakfast offered is continental and preset in room, Hope once they have the four other rooms built in pub they offer a cooked breakfast. Will recommend to friends.

We were looking forward to our late lunch at the Plum Pudding!... Sadly we were very disappointed. My partner wanted a blue steak. We were asked to sign a 'waver' we said this was ok but then the chef came to speak to us saying people had got sick eating blue steak and they wanted to make sure my partner was still happy to go ahead with the order. My partner asked if the steak was fresh and was advised by the chef it was. My partner said if it was fresh and cooked correctly it would be fine, the chef advised it was fresh and would be cooked correctly. My partner he has never been asked to sign a waver before!.!.. I ordered fish and chips which came out soggy at the bottom and clearly frozen fish which was also soggy and mushy.

Despite being located very close to the busy A34, Milton Business Park and the town of Didcot, this is a surprisingly tranquil location and the pub has a slightly rustic feel. There's a great range of ales including a house beer (brewed by Ringwood) plus several others mainly from smaller local breweries. For me, I enjoyed an excellent pint of OG Pale, brewed by LoveBeer, located in Milton village. There's a modest menu supplemented by blackboard specials and it was from the specials board that I chose an appealing sounding "Sea Bream with Roasted Vegetables & Feta Salad". Whilst the fish was nice enough, the salad turned out to be just an ad-hoc pile of salad leaves; no hint of anything roasted nor any feta - not good enough for £14.50. I should add I have had burgers here in the past which have been very good and it's a pleasant pub, however taking account of my latest food experience here, I can only rate them 3 stars.
