After a long day — our first ever in London — of sightseeing — we were hungry, tired and not into anything fancy– er, "posh" as our British cousins might say. Our hotel concierge (Jake @ The Chesterfield Mayfair) offered three suggestions and this seemed best — incl the shortest stroll. Was a delicious treat. Central London can be problematic for even casual dining and reservations are recommended for even the most modest places. Fortunately, despite just walking in around 5pm-ish on a Wednesday, just before the office crowd arrived, we were seated in a prime booth with the advisory it was reserved for 7 pm. Not another word was mentioned about that and we enjoyed a delicious, relaxed meal in 90+ minutes. Staff was informative and accommodating — and we Californians came away quite impressed by the quality of my wife's margarita. For a main meal, my wife cobbled together a few starters, Scallops Baked in the Shell, Garlic and Herb Butter and Heritage Tomatoes, Vegan Burrata, Pangritata. I did the Ox Cheek and Bone Marrow, which was AWESOME. Delicious sides, too. I took a flyer on a pint of bitters, my first-ever. Delicious beer! One last point: Is known as movie director Guy Ritchie's pub but he sold it in early 2013. No matter, is in good hands.

Beautiful place and friendly staff, but disappointing food for the price. We had the afternoon tea and it generally looked great, but tasted rather average. The vegan option was so bad it was funny - see photo - dry cakes with 'icing' that tasted slightly salty - not in a good way!

A very average roast dinner, parsnips were raw, roast potatoes were just boiled potatoes. No veggie options on the kids menu so my son had chips as that's all they had. Slow service despite being empty with lots of staff. A good looking pub in a good location but wouldn't go back

Stayed at the hotel attached to the Toby pub. Lovely room with all facilities once we were able to get our key to the room, we had emailed and called requesting a early check in with no reply till the day after we stopped which was no use to us. The lady in reception was rude and unhelpful. We asked for our key at 2-40 and was told no early check in we have to wait till 3 pm. However when she left reception another lady came and gave us our key straight away!!!!! Very strange ! Other staff very welcoming.

A afternoon tea in a pod for my mums 74th birthday. Great experience with heating or air con if needed. Nicely decorated and great atmosphere. Unlimited tea and coffee ,delicious sandwiches and the cakes/ desserts were amazing. The service we received from Fiona totally made the occasion even better thank you!!

I live locally and have been drinking here for 12 years. It's on a lovely position on the heath, and although it's expensive (even by London standards), the location and interior is good enough that I always saw it as a 'you get what you pay for' situation. However, after many years of visiting, I no longer drink here. The management seem to be under the impression that they're a cocktail bar. They pester you at your table every 10 mins trying to upsell food and drinks. Anything you order gets a 12.5% service charge added (even a pint). This new tactic of upselling / pressure selling has ruined the cosy pub atmosphere; you start to dread the staff circling and your stomach turns as they approach your table for the third time asking if 'you want any food'. There are other pubs in the area owned by the same brewery who do not employ this tactic. So it makes me think it's more a landlord / management issue than a corporate one. Honestly though, I'm not sure. Either way, after many happy years, I won't be setting foot in here again. If you're in Blackheath and looking for a pint, consider going to one of the other pubs in the village instead. The Crown has just had a refurb and is very nice. Equally the Hare and Billet is lovely. The Railways is ok, not bad, but not as nice as the other two.

Really disappointed at our visit this evening. The menu has changed, all of my families favourites are gone and the replacements are poor and not a patch on the previous menu. My son was almost in tears as he didn't like the new options when he tried them. My jacket potato was grey inside and was inedible. The prices have gone up a lot and the portions were smaller. We won't be returning to a Harvester any time soon, which is a shame because it has always been a place my family has loved to visit.
