£7.43 for a £6.6 pint of Guinness. No where on the menu it mentioned a compulsory service charge. Not coming back, thank you very much.

Really poor service. Came for a bottomless brunch and waited 25 minutes for our first drink. One of the dishes we ordered was ok but the pizza was awful. Very dry & tasteless. Not worth the money, definitely won’t be coming back

The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy and some of the staff just seemed to be stood about doing nothing, so we didn’t seem to understand why the service was so awful. Some of the later drinks we ordered just never arrived. Sat with the food for 5 minutes and had to ask for cultery because this wasn’t brought out with the food. Burger was ok but nothing special. Pizza was awful- very dry. Not worth the money- definitely won’t be back

You get the cold shoulder if you're not a young, hip person, you get put in an ugly corner somewhere even though there was still plenty of room everywhere. Before you had your drink it had been another half hour while it was very quiet. We were off again in no time. Too bad, even though it looked very nice and inviting

Just off the beaten track, tucked away from the main drag of mid market chains in South Bank, the Green Room has been a go to for pre and post theatre for me for many years. Recent reviews here suggest it is inconsistent. Certainly it can be slow; as a rule of thumb allow an hour and a half before theatre. However, our most recent meal before the Grapes of Wrath was pleasant, calm and memorable, Cocktails are inventive and well made, including unusual liqueurs such as bergamot, Brunchy food runs the gamut of the London international menu- Shakshuka (very spicy and all the better for it), grilled halloumi, humus, pancakes with nice, thick bacon, etc. One quibble: the heart of a Caesar salad is anchovies. Make them optional for sure, but don’t charge extra for them. That’s chiselling. The space is large and high ceilinged, and calm even when it filled up for lunch later. Ample outdoor seating would make this a great venue of a summer evening. Service was welcoming and efficient. The memorable surprise? A certain famous actress and comedian having lunch solo on the next table. Makes sense for this to be the works canteen for the National Theatre, given proximity.

Went in for some lunch with friends. I ordered shakshuka. When it arrived. It was half a toasted naan bread and a small pot of spicy chutney. This was meant to be a main meal but it was barely a starter and they charged me £16 for this which is ridiculous. The staff are nice and try but the prices are outrageous for what you get. Much better places around. Avoid if you can.

Really disappointed. Had high hopes. Looks super cool. Reality: halloumi fries taste of nothing. Buffalo sauce is great on chicken, not on tasteless halloumi. Super greens salad was a big let down. Bavette steak was ok. Gravy tasted line bisto, hasselback potatoes were nothing like that - semi roasted potatoes and nothing more. Maybe i am getting old, but i don’t need music pumping out like i am at a nightclub while i eat and every person at a table has to scream at each other to be heard. You know it is loud when the waitress cannot even understand what you are saying

We had a table booked for 5.30 on a weekday and when we turned up we found they had cancelled our booking without telling us as they then had a private event. The lady at the entrance says we didn't have a booking and everyone was contacted but that wasn't the case and she was very dismissive. Will never book there again.

Cool, nicely designed venue, and excellent food for a casual eaterie. The best feature is the staff though... It was like they were intentionally trying to find ways to make the evening good for us! I was sitting and waiting for other guests, some of whom were already sitting elsewhere - the staff figured this out and actively sought me out and matched us all up and amended the drinks orders etc. All super friendly and seen like they enjoy the job - the manager is clearly doing a great job too! Thanks GR team, we'll be back.

London bars and restaurants can be a ripoff. But £35 for a small pita bread, some humus, 4 arancini balls, 4 haloumi strips takes the biscuit. Total disgrace. Only redeeming feature, the portion size was doubled when we complained... (evidently they know they cannot justify the price).

In contrast to the normal bustle and jostle of central London we find…The Green Room – named after the astroturf and generous outdoor space surrounding this Bistro / Pizzeria located just behind the National Theatre and close to the Waterloo roundabout IMAX cinema. With substantial distance between tables, super friendly staff and a decent food and drink offering, this place makes a refreshing change from the noisy, “get them in and get them out” establishments with plastic tourist friendly food and premium priced averageness to be found in so many places these days. Sit under trees or next to abundant green planters and chat the afternoon or evening away. And the music – Middle aged man friendly jazz – wow – what more could you ask for? This space is different, valuable and will set you up for an experience you will remember. Go for it. Only one warning – A large glass of wine was £16! – Avoid the “large” if getting a round in after work! - It will bankrupt you. The Green Room is Recommended.

As with many things in London, up its own ... Grumpy, short staff and not much of an atmosphere.

Great atmosphere, lovely service, especially by the lovely Shyanne! The burgers were amazing #beefburger #vegan the drinks were flowing, the sun was shining, and the music was vibing!

We took the Fish and Chips to stay in English traditions, and we were not disappointed! By far the best fish and chips, not greasy and accompanied by tasty homemade sauces! Very good value for money for a very consistent dish.

I don't normally write bad reviews but the Green Room was dissapointing even by the low standards of the chains that surround the south bank. We ordered a frito misto sharing platter. The smoked salmon was fine but the squid was tasteless and the prawns were just batter. The whole place felt slightly grubby and toilets weren't great either. We went to NT over the road for a coffee to take the taste away. Theatre goers really deserve better than this.

Lovely spot located right near the national theatre. Really amazing food with a lot of appealing choices and at a reasonable price for London! Would definitely recommend :)

Not good at all. Slow, confusing service where no one appeared to have any idea what was going on. Pizzas were overcooked and dry made worse by the fact there were no condiments available. When we asked if there was any chili oil we were brought a small suspicious bottle that turned out to be cinnamon flavoured. Waitresses were pretty rude and aloof, everything seemed like an inconvenience to them and they were more interested in chatting to the bartenders. They were also polishing cutlery in the restaurant on a table near to us which was very grating. Costly evening for a pretty bad experience all round. Avoid!!

The Green Room is a stylish restaurant with a large outdoor area, but the food lets it down badly. I paid over the odds for a dry beef burger, and the extra £5.50 to add bacon and cheese was totally excessive. We were a large party who ordered mostly different things but not a single person made any comment about enjoying their meal, which said it all. While the staff were friendly, the service was also quite slow, meaning 2 courses took us over 2 hours. My advice would be to book an outside table on a sunny day for drinks and then eat elsewhere. It's a shame, because if they got the food right, this place could be something special.

Bad service, waited an hour for a drink and about 40 mins to order food and it wasn't even busy. Food v average. Wouldn't go again.

Great venue, great atmosphere and great food. Shyann was absolutely fantastic, she couldn't have provided a better service, Rlreminding us how long we had left of our bottomless brunch and providing recommendations. Would totally recommend!

Was here for a corporate event, so didn't get a true feel for the 'usual' atmosphere. Seems a nice enough place, but would be better to experience it as a regular customer.

I'll start from the end, it's no surprise that you can easily book a table at this place on a Friday night. The food was so-so, the burger was completely tasteless, and despite the fact that I was asked about the degree of preparation, it was well dried. The table at which we sat, although it was in a shady corner, swayed with every touch. I’ll finish where I started - don’t go there, go to any other place on the embankment, fortunately it’s nearby.

Went there for a few drinks and food in their wonderful looking beer garden / terrace . Very disappointed by the service . Had to wait twenty minutes for my first drink and had to ask two staff for it and nobody had a clue. Same thing happened again when we ordered food . They weren’t even that busy . The staff seem clueless and confused and lack waiter courtesy . They seem to be poorly managed and trained.

Very slow, we didn’t get our dishes at the same time. And pizza was cold.

The atmosphere was very off. We love wines so we asked our waiter for some recommendations but they didn’t really know what to recommend . We waited over 20 minutes , not sure why as it was obvious that they had staff, just busier chatting and hovering over kitchen area. No one seemed to be running the place ! We will not be returning.

Not a great visit here… firstly we had to look for someone at the door and then we were greeted with a cold look, telling us that we had to wait for a table which finished up taking longer than expected.. While waiting, my friend went to the toilet and there was an unpleasant smell and dirty bins, which put one of my friends off , but we still decided to give it a try. We were seated on a dirty table with dirty menus and while waiting for our order to be taken, we were amazed to see a senior member of staff arguing with the restaurant staff right in front of the guests.. The food was late and so were our drinks, we were planning to get more rounds of drinks but we decided to go somewhere else instead. Overall they’re clearly not taking pride in the place. On a positive note our waitress was lovely, but was clearly embarrassed at the whole situation, she is the only reason we’re giving 2 stars and not 1.

I live in London and came across this place with some friends from out of town. The service was exceptional (and the group I was with was a little complicated!) and I’m so grateful to every staff member I met. Gorgeous garden area in the summer and nice food. Thank you!

Welcoming service though we were only here for drinks. Given quality of service we will be back another time. We were seated outside but when it started to rain the waiters all rushed outside to help customers move indoors.

I had dinner with a group of 16 colleagues, and the total expenditure exceeds £1000. However, the quality of the food does not quite live up to the standard that would justify the high price. The service provided by the junior waitresses is acceptable, although there were instances when they were not readily available. I found it rather off-putting when an experienced waitress "reminded" me to say "PLEASE" when I requested tissues to clean up a spilled drink, as I had simply asked one of them for tissues. I would have certainly expressed gratitude once the tissues were provided. Her manner of correction seemed impolite to me. Regarding the food, I must say that most dishes lack flavor, and the fish and chips were excessively oily, rendering them inedible. Similarly, the calamari was not crispy as expected soaked with oil. As for the drinks, I ordered a cocktail with coconut as one of the ingredients. Unfortunately, I cannot ascertain whether the coconut used was fresh, as I experienced some stomach discomfort later in the night. In terms of service, I would describe it as satisfactory overall, except for the aforementioned incident with the waitress. However, I appreciate the efforts of the other staff members who were helpful whenever I made a request.

Used to really like coming here, but went back this morning after a little bit of a hiatus and feels like ownership different. Service was haphazard, food bland and the coffee was terrible - the worst I have ever had in London! Also, they decided to „change the oil in the fryer“ at 11am on a Saturday … so nobody could have any fried food!!! Rookie. Also, not friendly for pregnant/new mums - no decaf and no virgin options.

Food took over an hour to prepare and the restaurant was empty. Most of the food was terrible. Avoid the mussels!

Cute venue but service is one of the worst I’ve had in London. Barely 40% full and getting a plain cider to the table took 20 minutes. Please employ more service staff or something.

Been to the Green Room for the first time as it was recommended by a few of my friends that live near by. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed some of their new cocktails creations. I really recommend the Calm before the Storm and on the edge. The wines range is also affordable and great quality English wines. We only had some nibbles to share, but you really should go for the jerk chicken skewers and the halloumi fries dressing is heaven. I will definitely come back to try their pizza.

Quick stop in on a sunny afternoon in May before jumping back on a bus tour. Fancied a drink and some hot chips (classy, I know!), so I indulged in the Shake 2.0 Wake, (which fair warning, packs a punch!) and relaxed outside in the warmth of the afternoon sun. Staff were welcoming, I was seated immediately, chips arrived hot, and I didn't need to wait long at all for them.

Had a nice Sunday roast, especially liked that they chargrilled the vegetables. Service was attentive and friendly.

What a lovely place, staff absolutely lovely, food delicious. Visted today, largish work group. Service excellent.

The atmosphere was good, the staff too, the waiter Giada was very kind with us, we definitely spend a great night watching euros matches there.

I’ve been coming here quite regularly over the last few years. I work nearby and it’s a good spot for lunch or dinner. Had lunch the other day and was astonished by how bad the standard of the food has dropped. We were several dishes that were so badly over done they were barely edible. All of the food felt like frozen ready made food that had been deep fried. We were also served drinks that tasted like budget fruit juice. A really bad experience. Definitely will not return.

Not sure if there was a change in management but the food has become quite mediocre, it seems they are understaffed as it took ages for orders to be taken and food to arrive. It was not uncommon to be ignored by the waiter. The drinks are nice and atmosphere is nice. But it's gone downhill.

We came here for a work leaving meal and despite booking for 7pm our main meals didn’t come out until 9.30pm and they all came separately with the last coming at 10.15pm. The food was dry and over cooked and one of the waitresses was incredibly rude when we questioned why some drinks hadn’t arrived. We were also told on arrival that pizza was off the menu as it would take two hours to get them out but given it took over 3 hours for one of our mains I wish we’d ordered pizza! Unfortunately there was literally nothing good about this restaurant that would ever make me go back or recommend it, it was utterly appalling on this occasion, I can only hope for their sake that it’s rarely this bad.

I had a really nice experience at the Green Room on Friday night. I and my boyfriend went for dinner and were not disappointed at all. From the way we were received to how we were served, it was really nice I must say. The food was amazing, We had pizzas and couple of starters and the portions were really good. The dessert was really the icing on the cake because from how it was presented to how it tasted…I haven’t had anything like it. We had the vegan brownie and it was so soft and warm like it was made fresh and so tasty aswell. We had to wait awhile tho for our mains to arrive, but it was due to the busyness of the place and the manager gave us glasses of prosseco on the house to make up for it. I would highly recommend.

Their is just something about one cocktail that they call the green room punch,me and my friends were out for their Saturday brunch and the deal was fair,amazing service.

I came here last week on a sunny Saturday afternoon, there was a lovely atmosphere as it was very busy. However this did not disrupt service, our food was brought out promptly and made to perfection. There was also a lovely selection of beers and cocktails. Will definitely be returning !

I recently dined at the Greenroom after four-month aboard and was thrilled to see their updated menu. The new dishes are a delightful addition. I particularly enjoyed the salmon which was clocked just my taste. they offer some classic favorites, such as pizzas and fish and chips, but the new menu items add a refreshing twist to the whole experience . The staff was attentive , providing excellent recommendations and service despite how busy they were. Overall we always enjoyed Green Room and I highly recommend checking out the new offerings at Greenroom.

Extremely rude staff. Placed us at one table and then said we need to move to another table. A few minutes later, they tell us we again need to leave our table. Would never come again

Table at 7, didn’t order until after 8. Food wasn’t ready until after 10. No updates, or explanations. Some of our party cancelled their food because it was going to arrive after they had planned to get their train home.

Asked for medium rare, got well done. Waited forever for our order only to be told one of the meals was out. Outside seating is nice though, but they are not equipped to handle the demand on summer days.

The food is better than average here. It's a shame the service is quite a let down. Staff seemed to congregate around the kitchen, making it very hard to get anyone's attention. They would rarely walk around to see how people were getting on. Moreover, they seemed to need to double check what food we, and the tables around us ordered before being able to bring it to us.

Waited over an hour for drinks then when it came to pay I was told my first transaction did not go through and therefore I paid twice. I was assured several times that the money had not gone through despite it coming up on my online banking app that the money had gone from my account, it is now almost a month later and after several phone calls I have still not be refunded. Very disappointed at this terrible customer service and I would advise staying away

Such a shame the Green Room couldn’t supply us with a table on our visit as it easily one of the best venues in London to view a busy flyover. We’ll ensure we book next time.

Came here for evening meal on a Friday night. We ordered one pizza, and one burger. To say the food was an uninspiring is an understatement. A serious lacking of flavour, and although the service was not bad, there really isn’t much good to say about this place. The staff seem to be crazily busy, even though there was actually not that many customers. Probably a nice place for drinks in the summer, but cannot recommend here for food. So when I get the bill, it turns out that the price of the beer on the bill, is not the same as the price on the menu. This is unbelievable. When I told the waiter, he said that it was not his problem. needless to say, I won’t be ever coming back here again.

Summary: Worse brunch experience I've ever had. It was a tough table at the green room, I don't think it was just for our group, but clearly for other tables, and the under staffed employees. A total of 35 minutes it took to get our order in, which I think may be a record of any establishment I've been to. This was after getting up not once, not twice, but three times, asking for our order to be taken. To note, we did the bottomless brunch, which they tried to say started when we arrived to scam us out of our drinks, but thankfully after we reminded them it took a literal full 45 minutes to get our first drinks (lol yeah 45 mins), they corrected their error. Was the food worth the wait? In short, no. It started with another table coming over to confirm the food delivered to us was infact their food. To confirm yes it was a literal other customer that came over, confirmed they had a shocking experience at the venue as well, and that it was their food that was delivered to us. Wow a first for me. Admittedly, after this point, the drinks followed swiftly, and so did the food, which was okay, don't think there's anything remarkable to say on the food, just okay. Bottomless was attempted to end early by the staff who reminded us when we arrived, however we when we reminded them when actually got served (45 mins after arrival) , they did keep serving us. I'm sure staff did their best, but clearly struggled as the whole restaurant of customers people were having a bad time. Otherwise, great location, in the sunshine, should have been a solid lunch!

The fish and chips were the worst I think I have ever had. Tartar sauce was basically just mayonnaise with capers. Over fried and burnt fish, see photo. Our waiter reeked of stale cigarette smoke. The fish platter was served without sauce, olives or peta.

It's a shame that the acoustics are so terrible in the restaurant as the staff are super friendly and helpful, and the range and quality of the food is good and well-priced in a great location. We were eating with an autistic family member and were all delighted when we were allowed to eat outside, despite the miserable weather. The staff provided us with blankets and turned on the patio heater. If you want to chat, go somewhere else or go in the summer and eat outside!

My friend and I had a pleasant experience here the other evening but we won’t be returning. The service was good but unfortunately we did experience a few issues. I ordered a vegetarian burger without the buns and the veggie patty was minute. I wouldn’t normally be bothered about the size but I realised when the bill came I was charged £17 for this. We also ordered some cocktails during happy hour and the waiter unfortunately decided not to tell us that happy hour had ended so we ended up being charged full price for 4 cocktails. We disputed this with the manager who checked the times we placed our orders and she removed 2 of the cocktails from the menu as fully priced. So all in all we had a great evening but due to the small portion and over inflated prices plus the extra charges over the cocktails we won’t be returning.

This is a must place to come for great food and drinkies. It is even better in the sun when you can sit outside Go enjoy this little gem of a place

Went there on a Saturday so could only order from the brunch menu. The food is good but portions could be bigger. The superfood salad is full of green leaves with only a little sweet potatoes and quinoa. So felt hungry 1h after. Coffee arrived cold. Staff is nice but not efficient at all. A bit too noisy to have a proper conversation.

Awful food. Really expensive. Terrible acoustics. The Green Room has such a poor selection of gluten free food that I ended up having to order three side dishes for my supper. When I asked of anything could be adapted (eg the chicken cooked without breadcrumbs or an alternative offered to go with the main salad) the waiter replied 'no everything is pre-prepared' hmm. Not a great sign! I left hungry! With a soft drink, my small and poor quality meal came to £30! Given that the food was low quality this was not a fair price. In addion to this, there was a drinks event at one end of the restaurant with a large crowd of people. This was really noisy. The space has very echoey acoustics, so we ate fast and left as we couldn't hear each other talk! Dreadful experience.

Staff helpful but food poor do not order the vegan burger, they used to do a fab portbella mushroom burger now it’s a dry up peice of cardboard. Such a shame as a lovely venue.

Very poor service, food and atmosphere . Don’t go in the later part of the afternoon, or don’t go at all. Friends had chosen this after we had been to the N.T as a convenient place to eat after a matinee. When we arrive it was full of younger people who were either having a birthday party or had been there all afternoon boozing the day away. We were taken to our table inside by a window, immediately we watched a young woman being sick all over the floor on the table just outside on their false grass . She was slumped on the table. The staff were quick to wash and clear the area, but it wasn’t what we want to see just before our meal. My husband ordered a beer on the menu, but was not told that they had run out, the waiter arrived with a small glass of beer that was not what he ordered. He was then told they only had one beer available out of six beers. We ordered starters and mains, not a lot of choice,but then we assumed that would be a good thing. Unfortunately our mains came out at the same time as our starters. The staff did not know what they were doing. I ordered a pizza, that was so expensive but was not good. The crust was so thin and hard to cut, not a lot of topping and tasteless. My husband had a burger, the bun was a black bun, it didn’t look appetising . The girls inside eventually left, so the noise level dropped! This is not a place for a quiet leisurely meal, as the staff looked like they were over worked. Go if you are young and hip and want a good time, but don’t go if you want a nice leisurely meal. Our friends who had been before a few years ago felt it had changed hands and were thoroughly upset by the experience.
