Went to get a drink at 10pm, Arthur told me wasn't serving because I opened the door wrong, but they were obviously cleaning and closing up. Just say that, say your closing, and don't act as I'm drunk for not pushing the door when it's a pull.

🚇 Herne Hill 🍺 £6.10 Cruzcampo The Prince Regent is located opposite Brockwell Park in the leafy South London suburb of Herne Hill. The nearest station is Herne Hill mainline, it’s a five minute walk to get here. This Victorian corner pub was built in the mid-nineteenth century and was once a Truman’s house. The pub has an elaborate exterior including a statue of the Prince Regent. This is a one bar pub with a good sized bar with a dining area behind a wood and etched glass partition. The decor is traditional with lots of timber fixtures and fittings. The servery is centrally located and has a decorative gantry. There is plenty of seating throughout the, I loved sturdy pews. Around the walls are a number of historical pictures, a couple of TV’s and a handsome Truman's mirror. At the front of the pub there are a dozen or so benches shaded by parasols. The beer selection consists of well known tipples and included one cask. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint hit the spot, price point was average. The food menu is pub classics, the specials offered more adventurous dishes, Fish & Chips costs £15.95, Roasts are available Sundays. I arrived just before 12pm on a sunny Saturday lunchtime in September. The pub was not long opened so I had the pub to myself. The service was pleasant, I was served by friendly chap who was welcoming. There was a nice ambiance to the pub which had a laidback local feel. This was my first pub on a crawl around Herne Hill and what a great start. I loved the unique architecture of the pub, the traditional interior and local pub feel. My pint was decent and not overly priced. @theprincetegentse24 is a solid all-rounder and well worth your patronage. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 21.09.24

Sunday lunch. Went as a family. Eleven adults, three babies and two dogs. Staff under pressure which the manager apologised for, (honesty always appreciated), but the food was possibly the best Sunday roast I have had out for a long time. That includes pubs and restaurants. Beef lovely and rare, Spuds crispy and the gravy was a four day prepared treat. Prices £19 plus reasonably priced wine. We will be back.

On June 7th, I ate for the second time aboard “The Prince Regent.” As I detailed before, the first visit was for lunch. This time however, it was for dinner. I was welcomed with open arms. They weren’t ready for the customers to board so suggested I go next door to their other restaurant for a little while - The Grand Duchess. So I did and ate three deliciously fresh oysters with a Mignonette Sauce, along with an excellent non-alcoholic “Mocktail.” Very soon, they told me they were ready to board. As soon as I arrived, I was presented with four more delicious oysters on the house, also with an excellent Mignonette Sauce.. Being alone, I had been assigned a single seat at the counter at one of the picture windows. I asked them if they had a table I might have. They explained that all the tables were full but they’d see if they had a no-show. If so, that table would be mine. As I suspected would happen, everyone showed up. So what did they do? They placed a small two-top close to one of the other deuces port side, in the middle of the service aisle. It was phenomenal and most comfortable. Once again, the food and service was absolutely superlative. This restaurant has become one of my three favorite restaurants, worldwide. The others are La Tour d’Argent in Paris and The Angus Barn in Raleigh, NC. As I finished my appetizer, a gentleman who was seated at a table on the starboard side, with his wife and son, came over to introduce himself. Mark was his name and he told me he was from Glasgow. I of course, told him that that was the town in which I was born. He asked whereabouts. I told him only to find that he lived around the corner from where I was born. He then asked me if, rather than sitting alone, I would like to join them. These were three of the most gracious people I have ever met on the road. It was a fabulous evening. We laughed so often and so hard, I simply cannot express what a wonderful evening it was. That said, I remained on board after a stupendously enjoyable dinner and chatted with the young lady in charge, Niemh and the remainder of the crew. I shall miss visiting it —- until the next trip!

Staff and vibe are lovely, but oh man the vegan food is bad. I saw 2-3 options and thought “oh, that’s good, they know what they’re doing.” The burger arrived literally as a dry blob in a bun. Not a hint of even salad or sauce. The ‘steak’ looked like a chunky frozen job bought from Iceland for £1.20. I and the table beside me literally just described it as “sad, sorry looking food cooked with absolutely no love.” I felt like I’d been punished for ordering the vegan option. Please, please either cook it like you’re proud of your profession, or take it off the menu so we can get real food somewhere else. (Also thank you for being nice people, but please improve the food..)

Went to this pub before going to project 6. Was fine, but popped on the Sunday after spilling mustard all over my tshirt. Got grief from a libberacci lookalike from the moment I went in re: using the facilities. He sarcastically asked in a loud voice in front of the whole pub whethehr I enjoyed the toilets - mortifying. It's a London public house on a bank holiday (they are coining it) - get over yourselves. I live around the corner and will never be coming back.

Roasts were ok for the adults but the gravy was extremely strong flavour (not unpleasant) and they were served in shallow bowl so it was difficult to avoid. This gravy was also on the children’s roasts, my son didn’t really eat anything with this gravy on, I did mention this to the waitress as I handed back his barely eaten roast but it would be good to have this gravy on the side.

Nice pub with a relaxed atmosphere. However the food was a big disappointment. I'm a vegetarian and ordered a vegan burger and was given a burger between a bun with no sauce, salad and no option of cheese (even vegan cheese). It was a dry experience. I asked for some cheese to add to the burger and and was basically given a block of cheese. The two stars given are for the chips and lettuce on my plate but the burger was a huge disappointment at an expensive price. Not a great experience for a vegetarian or a vegan.

This is the general problem I have with a lot of London pubs - paying an extortionate price, for p*ss poor service. I ordered a round which was far more expensive than I thought - when I asked for a receipt, the manager told me to wait and acted very rude. It’s not a big deal, I’m just asking for a receipt. She clearly did not want to be there and did not take pride in her service.

Had little interaction with servers and had to flag down for drinks and to order food. Asked to remove the £15 service charge at the end, to be spoken to so rudely. The server asked us why we were removing it and once we had explained he said we don’t get paid much. Which I sympathise with having worked in hospitality for 6 years. But felt as if he was trying to guilt trip us into paying service charge even though he had not been our waiter all evening? He then told us he didn’t “give a s*** and just wanted to go home”. Amongst other things, I can say hands down the rudest server I have ever come across. We paid over £100 for a mediocre meal with extremely rude service. We spoke to the supervisor who explained to us he was new and it was an ongoing issue, but he also didn’t seem to care much about what we had to say. It’s a shame and we won’t be going back to eat there. Would love for a manager to action this as I have never been spoken to so rudely. My whole table left shocked and it ruined the whole evening.

This is our favourite boozer in Herne Hill, however the food has really gone downhill. We used to dine here at least once a week. Last time we came in for dinner we noticed how every dish we ordered was bland and average, something we expect in a home counties pub, not London. Today we had the same experience. Bland & average, but expect high London prices. I hope the owners of this lovely pub will restore their kitchen to its former glory at some point, untill then, it'll remain the boozer of choice in Herne Hill.

He then dragged someone else outside to talk and when I (the bill payer) went to discuss it with him he told me that he wouldn't discuss it with me there!? Really awful experience. We'd booked a space for a 30th birthday party, and asked the pub to provide a very basic spread of finger food for £50. What arrived was some hula hoops (still in bags) chips and hummus - for which they attempted to charge £100. When questioned, the owner of the pub took a member of our party outside, and became extremely aggressive defending his extortionate mark-up. If you add up the amount we spent booking the space, and the amount we drank at the bar, we were probably some of his best customers that night. And his response was to try and rip us off. Be very wary of this place and the owner.

Ok, so when I was with my friend I smelled a familiar smell of something that not be smoked around here I sat down and the Servant staff Natalia told me and my friend that if we want him to smoke something a bit cheeky around her that is not allowed. At first, I was quite angry at the fact that she had said this and I was thinking is it because I'm black that you are saying this. After all, I know for a fact that the person that was smoking that's I smelt previously was coming from somebody that was white. From that point I was determined to only have one drink and move on however it was comfortable and nice to sit down and have a drink and chill and talk with my mate so then I decided to have another drink, after further watching Natalia work around the area I notice that she may have said something of the same calibre to another two new arrivals. I think she is a good server I just feel that she might only be saying it to people that she may suspect does the thing that she suspected of myself and my friend at the time maybe am wrong..... I think if she says the thing that she said to me to everybody, that would be fine.

This pub has so much potential but needs investment from the owner. The toilets were flooded, the handle had come off the sinks and overall the place looks tired. Which is a shame as the building itself is lovely. Some staff were lovely but others were abrupt and rude. They didn’t warn us that the kitchen was closing and had no bar snacks or crisps on offer. A special shout-out to Krista for her incredible planning and support both before and during the event, as well as to Oscar, Holly, and the entire team for their dedication and professionalism. They made our day truly unforgettable, and we’re beyond grateful for everything they did. The Rosendale team is simply amazing, and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

a retro setting with a smelly car parked in premises each night to give retro look.food is same standard as car;who ever thought that a 60s fiat 500 was quality.talks the talk but forget anything other than a bottled beer;dont accept a glass unless you like petrol fumes

Decoração moderna, muito interessante. Um restaurante/bar com ótimos pratos. Comemos um camarão que estava muito bom. O atendimento foi ótimo.

A very disappointing experience. I would strongly advise NOT going here for a Sunday roast. - We had to wait 45 for our order to be taken. - the Diet Coke tasted of nothing, how do you get Coke wrong? - The food was average at best. The Roast potato's were probably the worst I’ve ever had, tasteless and rubbery. The beef was badly over cooked and very chewy. Not satisfied at with my experience.
