Cristina's

Abbey, Barking and Dagenham
11/11/2020: We went here as a family of 3 for Sunday Roast before Lockdown 1 happened! Mainly for the reason its Halal but also because everytime I booked I could NEVER get a table which made me want to go even more! we had our table booked in for around 2:30pm. The service was lovely, the staff were great with my 1 year old boy who knows how to make a huge mess. The restaurant was clean and really nicely spaced out so you have good room around you. We ordered the Chicken roast dinner which came out at good time and was a good portion size. Sadly there is a downfall which was the meal was overly salty! I thought maybe it was just mine but it wasnt the case. I didnt want to complain as it would take a while and we had to be somewhere else that afternoon so we ate what we could and left. I would 100% give them another try as it could have been a one off and if they are as busy as they are as its a small restaurant then it must have been just that day!

The Pipe Major

Village, Barking and Dagenham
29/10/2020: Went for lunch, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us but it was early lunch time so not many people were in. We had the Carvery which was ok if not a bit dry from sitting around. We also had the chocolate eclair cake which was lovely but the portion sizes need looking at as we all had different portion sizes.
05/10/2020: First of all we had to wait way to long for our food to come even though the place wasn’t busy at all. My partner ordered soup which never came. His fish and chips was unbelievably greasy. I ordered medium size beef carvery, the portion size of the beef was the tiniest I’ve ever seen, rock solid, hard to chew. The Yorkshire pudding was burnt couldn’t even bite into it. The whole dish was overcooked and tasteless. Won’t be back here...

Moby Dick

Chadwell Heath, Barking and Dagenham
05/11/2020: Haven’t been to Moby Dick Toby Carvery for years. Well it hasn’t changed- still tired looking interior in a desperate need for a clean lick of paint and a lot of deep cleaning. This I don’t have a problem with. What I couldn’t understand was why when we are unfortunately at a peak of Covid again, about to go into lockdown again, the 2 members of staff that attended to us were not wearing a face mask/shield!!! Orders are taken at the table by the unmasked waitress, drinks and meals brought to the table by unmasked waitress, checked several times we are ok, by unmasked waitress and yep you’ve guessed it, bill brought up by unmasked waitress.Don’t get me wrong- she was lovely and polite, but really!!!!On this basis alone- I wouldn’t be returning, not when so many other food places do ‘Covid procedures ‘ so well. The food - I’m not even fussy ( I’m just glad if I don’t have to cook), but it looked like what had been leftover after school dinners. Tasted like that too. Such a shame - years ago this Carvery was so nice, let’s hope this lockdown the owners are using the time productively and getting decorators and cleaners in and re- educating staff on the important of safety at this time.Would I come back - nah.
25/10/2020: Our family visited today for Sunday lunch. We usually go to the Toby in Romford but after visiting the Moby Dick I think this will become our favourite Toby. Emily our waitress was simply lovely. Drinks brought quickly. Carvery superb. Lamb especially tasty. My children are sometimes hard to please and ate loads! Sheila at the carvery was cheerful and helpful with a welcoming smile. Restaurant had been laid out in a way that was safe for Covid restrictions without being overbearing or officious about it. 5 stars all the way! Thank you and keep up the good work!

23/08/2020: Ohhhh YUMMY. They win awards because their food is ALWAYS DELIGHTFULLY DELICIOUS FINGER LICKING SCRUMPTIOUS YES PLEASE. With over 10 years here at our favourite fish & chip shop ever, we have never been anything but delighted with both the food which is always fresh & the continued services provided year on year. THERE IS NO BETTER, HANDS DOWN. If they invented fat free versions i wouldn't be surprised. MAGICAL FISH & CHIP SHOP ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL.

Heath Pie Shop

13/12/2020: Used to be good but went last week as my kids love it. Also my dad's loves it too but only from cooks in Harold Hill. Anyway this time the mash was awful very bland and lumpy. The pies were good. The liquor was very watery not like it used to be. They have definitely changed the recipe. I got a takeaway and make sure you get 2 large liquors as they have also changed there cup size. A small liquor size is as big as am egg cup, the large is also so small. I then went to get my dad's at cooks and it was perfect large liquor in a big cup and the pies are massive.
04/08/2020: Don't waste your money going here. Pies wasn't to bad but the mash was lumpy and hard .sausages were hard and been warmed up in the microwave not fresh at all same with the gravy . ( how long does it take to cook some sausages and gravy freshly ).

We will definitely be returning after the new lockdown. Thank you again
31/10/2020: Come here with my friends, first time being out for a long time. On arrival we met the new manager Kerry, welcomed us in and told us all about the Covid rules and regulations. Very friendly and polite. We will definitely be returning.

The Eastbrook

Eastbrook, Barking and Dagenham
05/11/2020: I have lived in this borough over 40 years and never had a bad experience with any landlord. I received a parking fine for going in for a chat with the owner to give out leaflets and I got a £60 fine. Owner said he would squash it. Hell did he I swear I will never step foot in this pub again. Sad because it’s my local. Bye bye Eastbrook pub. Staff not friendly and don’t remind you that you need to register your car, even if it’s a short stay. Money making pigs
