Had lunch today with my friend. Food was lovely. Service was excellent staff always very friendly. Mark the manager came over to talk to us as he had seen us a few times recently. Shows that he is super interested in he's customers. Would definitely recommend

We held a wake here on Monday 3/3/25 the staff did an amazing job looking after us and the regular customers were a great friendly bunch

AVOID THE FOOD POISIONING: Came here yesterday as a gift to my mother. We ordered the fish and the lasagne and was disappointed. We've visited the pub before and eaten here, sad to say will not be return for the food. First of all for the fish which was for my mother and i tried after she stopped eating, the peas were completely cold, While the had a soft rubble like constancy. It appeared as tho the batter had been burned an in attempt to soften it the dish had been microwaved. I myself had the beef and rewine lasagne, which while looking appealing was not. The garlic bread like the peas was cold and tasted more of oil then bread. The pasta itself while having it's flavour was swimming in oil, and burnt on the edges, making it a struggle to even get down. Yet we tried because we had paid the money. As a frequent visitor who used to live just 5 minutes away and a fellow bar worker in london it's a shame to see when quality turns out like this. I've been bedridden all day throwing up since with what I can only assume is food poisoning from here as I hadn't eaten anything else thay day as I was looking forward to the meal. Came for a mates birthday, great food, steak and chips were well cooked 👌🏼, great atmosphere and location and friendly staff.

Food was great! Staff we're attentive. The food turned up on time. Food was well cooked and we had a friendly dinner with friends.

Staff were lovely throughout the night, 9 meals needed to be made only waited 15 mins for the food to be delivered 5/5. Staff were friendly and moved tables around to suit our need and was easy to navigate our two year old around.

The food was amazing, the service was really good! I really enjoyed my meal it was really delicious the staffs were very friendly and it’s a fun atmosphere with music and a pool table.

So nice to walk into a pub and be made welcome, staff was friendly and helpful, food was excellent, nice and hot with flavor. Excellent price. Will definitely go back soon

Went there after a funeral it was nice and quiet and the food i saw looked amazing.

Stopped in for a couple of pints and a bit of food with some friends, the place was clean and tidy considering it was busy, staff was really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be returning again some time soon!

I hate too say this but, we were very disappointed with the service that we received in October 2024. First. Items were missing off of my mixed grill, which I pointed out ( but never go) My wife didn't get the peppercorn sauce that was ordered. My daughter's burger meal arrived 30 minutes after the rest of ours, when it did turn up, she was told that they didn't have any barbecue sauce! Finally after we complained for the third time, the manager offered us a 20% discount and that he would email it to my daughter. She kept contacting him about it. But would say that he is snowed under and it was on its way. So here we are three months later and still nothing, it's quite sad really because my daughter also works for Mitchell and butler.

Had a banging mixed grill! Steak was cooked to perfection! Dan the chef is smashing it.

Mark has really turned this pub/ restaurant around. The food is now excellent. The premises are clean and tidy, both inside and out. The staff seem well trained, are attentive and friendly. It has taken a lot of hard work on his part, and we clearly see the results when we have been there. Keep up the good work

Came in the other day for a few drinks, didn’t have any food but the service was wonderful !! Was served by a girl i think called olivia (she said her name was liv but im not sure if that was just the shortened version??) I’ve never been served by a more welcoming, happy, and eager person in my life !! Will definitely be coming back here !

Nice pub and it is the only one in Chadwell Heath that has a decent pub garden. I have been into the Tollgate a handful of times in the last 6 months and there are always familiar welcoming faces. Its a comfortable pub with lots on the menu food wise and lots on draft to. Fridays there tends to be a bit more of a lively atmosphere and now and again there is a DJ. The staff are super friendly and know how to work the bar properly. Olivia has served me a couple of times now and you can see that she has a great relationship with the locals.

I grew up in the area and have just started working there. The comfortable atmosphere is enough to keep me coming back even when off shift.

Came with family and had some lovely food and drinks. The service was fantastic! Olivia was so attentive and warm, such a lovely girl who clearly cares about her customers!!

Very pleasant afternoon lunch. Surf and turf was very reasonable and nice service from Olivia and the bar staff.

I wrote a bad a review back in Feb 24 as they had no Chicken to cook for my Wife's dinner. I felt disinclined to use their offer to pre phone and give them another try. But this week I did return anonymously and the venue was much better after it's redecoration. They had what we wanted and it was fine. There was a moment when I asked for mustard & there was some hesitation. But it came and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Went there for the Psychic event only to find out that is was only a 1 to 1 readings only, at a cost of £45. The pub doesn't sell Pernod either. Won't be revisiting

I remember going in here a few years ago,it was a right dive.went there today 6,8,24 and was pleasantly impressed. Its had a good make over,the sausage and mash was very tasty and a nice pint of Stella.did have to wait about 30 minutes for the food but that was OK.

Love this pub! Its my local and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Especially jake behind the bar, always going the extra mile for people and ensuring the pub is kept clean and tidy (especially the bar) even during busy periods like the football. And best til last, Nathan the chef is just amazing, always doing the best for the customers, ensuring the pub is run smoothly and i must say a brilliant chef! 5 stars all round! 😊

Shocking food no choice and bar staff were very rude This place has had a refit and still has the same bad chef and staff. No food at 3 pm on a Sunday when there should be loads anything of day. We be putting a complaint to head office as this is happening time after time and it has to stop either sack the staff and chef or close it down

The pub has just had a refurb and they've done a great job. Good service and attentive staff, great food from a good menu, nice beer garden. They've done a great job.

Over all very good no problem with dealing with allergies. Revamp looks good. Can't understand why their are no tea or coffee facilities bar resteraunt catering for families and no coffee machine/or kettle poor show

Thought we would give this pub a go while I was visiting family in the area. It has had a revamp and there reviews were good. Ordered a steak and chicken combo asked for no onions as allergic to them. The bar staff said my meal would take longer because of the onions cooked on the plate. The 4 others in my party had their meals, and I waited, and waited and waited for mine and it never came. I asked the staff if it would be soon, was told its being cooked, I was told this 3 times. I offered if I had the fish and chips instead would this be easier, I was informed that there wasn't and fish and they wasn't taking new ordered 🤔, I was then assured my food was coming. After everyone else in the restaurant had had their food and mine still hadn't come I asked for a refund, as 2 hours waiting for my food was now beyond a joke. I could see the chef through the doorway and he wasn't cooking my steak!! The barstaff told me the chef had to clean the whole cooking plate after everyone else's food was cook to cook my food, I can't understand why my food could not have been cooked in a frying pan instead of a cooking plate, the steak is also served on a hot plate and as my steak was ordered as med rare I could have cooked it on the hot plate. Never in my life have I had to wait for everyone else in the restaurant to have their food before mine was started. If you are going to relaunch a pub and want new clients to visit it might be best to make sure you have the staff to serve the customers.

Really accommodating pub - needed lunch in a rush and staff made every effort to get it to me as quickly as possible. Also had a great variety of non-alcoholic ciders. Nathan and the kitchen staff were particularly good. Food was fantastic, recommend the sizzling skewers.

What an excellent meal well cooked and to perfection kids ate all there meal as well !! Toilets are impressive really well designed very happy with new refurbishment

We came for my boyfriends birthday, Elle knew in advance it was his birthday, she went above and beyond ballon’s, banners, and birthday cake, made his birthday extra special Elle is a very special person we had the best day and I can’t thank her enough!!

How incredible this place is. We just had our gender reveal/engagement party. We had the whole restaurant section for the party. Ellie the manager got involved with the decorations with Jake. Jodie was brilliant at the busy bar. The buffet was top tier and inexpensive... honestly I came with high expectations and yet they were surpassed!!! Everything was clean and tidy, the garden was perfect for the nice day, the parking is vast... I'm just so impressed. I'm a very happy customer thank you everyone at the tollgate!!!

Slow service unless stood in front of the bar. Staff not interested in serving customers waiting at the end of the bar. Staff also had no idea about which wine was dry, medium or sweet. Very poor service.

Lovely pub new manager (elle) really changed it around. Staff are so attentive and quick. Always have a good time when we come up❤️

We went for a meal and while waiting for the other three in our party bought a drink. A pint of coke, if you don't have ice, is only three quarters of a pint and £3.50. They then put on loud music. We decided to move to the Eva where a real pint is less than £2. With the six meals and drinks we paid around half of the price at the Tollgate. Shame as it's more local to us. Every time they change management we give it a try but Sizzlers always let themselves down, partly with the quality, partly with items that are missing and partly with the high prices.

I think the worst pub I’ve ever been into. The lady behind the bar (Friday morning) was nasty, borderline rude. She didn’t know how to use the till or how to make cocktails or even how to smile and she made sure we felt bad because us coming in meant we interrupted her chatting with her mates slouched all over the bar. Not surprised it was empty and smelly.

Visited pub for the first time with family and friends. I must say the food was very nice and great value for money , presented very well we were looked after by the manager and his wife who provided a great service. All in all a great evening . We will be back.
