Cristina's in Barking and Dagenham

Had such high hopes for this place, but they did not deliver! Potato skin - nothing special, flavourless. Steak chimichurri bruschetta - this was okay Lamb shank - my goodness, this was awful, no flavour in meat, simply drowned in bland gravy Rib eye steak - ordered medium rare but it was pretty close to rare so couldn’t eat it Fries - very dry. There were only 2 people serving tables on a Friday night where literally all tables were taken, so everything took so long. Definitely definitely won’t recommend or revisit.

Absolutely delicious. The Brisket burger is just perfection; you don't even need to chew it.

Overpriced with below average food and drinks. Avoid for sure. To the response from the owner, it wouldn't be overpriced if the food/drinks wasn't below average, please understand that. And there are plenty of better places in the area.

Meh. Used to be one of favourite places in London. Gone down hill. Got served a steak that looked boring as hell, no salad as it’s now chargeable. And got served by a lady who looked miserable with attitude. Shame really. Mehhh

Not happy, online says it is open. Drove down 45 minutes to have the food but then to find out it’s closed. If they are closed during lunch time they should indicate that on the website.

The really know how to cook a quality steak. So refreshing to find a chef who cares about the food that comes out of their kitchen.

Great welcome and service from the lovely staff at Cristinas. This is a spot I regularly visit for their steak and smash burgers. This time round I tried out the brisket steak, which unfortunately did not match up to the other items on menu. The steak was clearly pre-cooked and warmed up and not as soft and succulent as the meat I’ve tasted in the brisket burgers. There was not a lot of carbs in the meal either, and one gravy shared between two. Food came very quick and they were also good to accommodate for a baby high chair and quick seating during a very busy period. Prices are reasonable for London steakhouse, and plenty of drink options on menu. Overall, I would visit again but Sunday roast may be given a miss. Edit: Meant to say Brisket Roast not steak, which tastes a lot less soft and tender than the brisket in the burger and what I’ve had at countless other places.

The food was disappointing—cold when served, and I had to send it back for reheating. The steak was dry and tough, and the service was below par. The staff seemed overwhelmed and understaffed. Given the high prices, the quality of both the food and service was not worth it. There are much better steakhouses to choose from.

Seen this place for years and finally tried out their lunch menu. The food was delicious and a great value for money. We both had the steak and frites plus the smashed burger to share. Both were flavourful and surprisingly it did not feel or taste oily or “junkie”. The service was a bit slow as there was only one waitress on the floor, but besides this the food was worth the wait (25-30mins). Would 100% recommend and come back.

The best restaurant in Barking! Great quality and affordable prices. I especially recommend the lunch deals (Smashed double cheeseburger is my favourite) and the Sunday Roast. The Chimichurri sauce is delicious! The service is super nice and professional. I highly recommend it, both dine-in and take-away.

The food was great I enjoyed it very especially the t- bone steak it enough for two people I will be back . Steak tasted good and service was good . I hope to back to try more.

Had a wonderful dinner at Cristina's Steak with my family , it was a positive experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming. The steaks were amazing and perfectly cooked. In every bite, you could taste the quality and care that went into the preparation.

Amazing Steaks, Amazing Fries, Amazing Burgers, Amazing Sunday Roast. And you have to try the home-made Lemonade 🙂

Came to this place with my wife upon her recommendation and I could immediately tell why she dragged me here. Straight off the bat, our server Cristina, who was very friendly, seated us and took our drinks order promptly. We then had some time to look over the menu which was as you’d expect from a steakhouse with a few fun surprises. The atmosphere in this restaurant is very welcoming. They’ve clearly thought about the small things like the ambient temperature, smell and music - which all add up to create a wonderfully layered dining experience. We got the brisket burger, American burger and steak bruschetta - all perfectly cooked and flavourful. The chips on the side were well seasoned too. Overall, a really lovely experience, reasonably priced and definitely one of Barking’s hidden gems.

We love going to Cristina’s! There is always a friendly welcome, brilliant service and, most of all, delicious food. We especially love the Sunday Lunches which are cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced.

I recently dined here and was thoroughly disappointed. The customer service was poor, with inattentive staff and long waits. The food was equally lackluster—my steak was overcooked and lacked flavor, and the sides were mediocre. To top it off, the prices were exorbitant, far exceeding the quality of the meal and service. Overall, it was an unsatisfactory experience, and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Sensational food. A truly hidden gem in barking. Steak was outstanding and cooked to perfection, spaghetti bol was premium. Prawn, steak bruschetta and wings starters were all so flavourful and high quality. Highly highly recommend this place. Can see why everyone raves about it in all honesty. I've heard nothing but good things about cristinas. Having experienced it for myself I can totally see why. Will be back soon, thank you.

Regular customer at cristinas and it’s Always a comfortable place to dine. Staff very welcoming and friendly. And the food is 10/10 each time. Tried their 0% vegan platter on our recent visit and all cuts of meat were mouth watering.

Went here as a last minute plan. We were seated promptly although we were running late. The server did recommend some drinks and options which we got. We got potato scratchings, steak and chicken meals. We got extra sides too. The food was good but not as good as other steak places. The chimichuri sauce felt really oily as opposed to flavourful. The service was a but slow as it seemed the younger staff were left on their own and once food was given, kind of stayed in the back. The overall restaurant was clean but very cold. The theme was a bit beige and not very warm and cosy. The food took decent time to come out and one person tried the sticky date pudding that she felt tasted heavily of dates as opposed to a treat like taste. I think we spent like £40 each roughly. Which I think was fairly pricey for the portion of food and the taste. Maybe other items on the menu may have been better but was overall a good experience. Would recommend but would not come back here again perhaps.

Had the 0% vegan board. The steaks were really nice but the brisket had too much fat on them, fat should've been trimmed off. An option to substitute the bone marrow should be given as some people don't like bone marrow. The loaded chips are not really edible as they are too loaded with grated cheese, so there is a pool of oil underneath. You will feel sick eating that. Lamb shank flavour was below average. I should've stuck to my usual Ribeye steak. Cristina's do steak the best.

So we went for a family dinner yesterday evening and the restaurant seemed clean and pleasant to eat in, which was a great start. However, upon returning home after the meal, my husband got food poisoning and a high fever. I started getting stomach cramps and have been feeling bloated and nauseous since last nights meal (I’m pregnant too btw!). It seems the food was contaminated as I have eaten out a fair bit, but not had this experience before. My husband ordered the a fillet steak, medium rare with mash, and I ordered the beef topped chips with a brownie milkshake. The brownie milkshake was not flavoursome or thick like I assumed it would be, the kids also wanted mac and cheese which turned out to be super dry. I literally had to leave the full plate aside as they didn’t enjoy it at all. We paid £70 for this meal, not worth the money at all in my opinion. This will have to be our first and last meal at Christina’s!

When my wife recommended this spot for dinner I had high hopes. I ordered the fillet steak which tasted fine the mash was dry and very lumpy which was disappointing. The next morning however I woke up with diarrhoea and spent the remainder of the day with severe stomach aches which I can only imagine was due to poor meat hygiene. Safe to say I will not be returning!

The presentation of the restaurant was devine along with the service. The waiters were great regarding attitude and patience. The waiting time was just fine as the atmosphere was pleasant. Unfortunately the food was not at the same standard as everything else. I found the chicken to be too tough and chewy. The food was covered in oil with such a watery texture to the cheese. I left feeling rather queezy.

Cristinas is one of the best places to eat in Barking. Food is brilliant, staff are helpful and it’s a great family friendly atmosphere.

The service was really nice especially the lady edit made sure we were offered a good service. Overall very nice!

I went to Christina’s yesterday for the first time. I heard a lot of positive things. But it was the worst experience ever. Worst steaks and burgers I’ve had. And they were very expensive. Do not recommend.

Had a wonderful dinner at Cristina's Steak with my family of five, and I must say, it was an experience to remember. From the moment we stepped through the door, the staff were incredibly welcoming. They ensured we were comfortable by seating us at a large table, which we greatly appreciated, especially given our group size. The culinary offerings at Cristina's were exceptional. Their burgers were an absolute delight, presenting a refreshing change from what you typically find elsewhere. However, the real highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the steaks. They were the stars of the show, and my wife and son were particularly fond of them. Undoubtedly, these are some of the best halal steaks you can find in East London. While the food was slightly on the pricey side, the flavour and uniqueness of each dish more than justified the cost. In every bite, you could taste the quality and care that went into the preparation. Overall, I would highly recommend Cristina's Steak for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in the area. It's a place where exceptional taste meets warm hospitality.

Great food Good vibes Brisket burger was juicy just melted in my mouth. Chicken cornflake burger was crispy and full of flavour. Lamb shank was succulent and melted in my mouth. Mash and peas on the side with sauce was delicious. Good customer service Good value for money

Been here for the first time last Sunday, and it was such a beautiful surprise. The food and the service were fantastic i would go back without hesitation.

16.08.24 - and we're back! Please, Cristina, bring back the bao buns 😭 Had a lovely dinner at Cristina's yesterday evening. Even though there was a slight mishap with the food, it was rectified immediately! The bao buns were so delicious and moreish, my kids devoured them too! Steaks were cooked to perfection, and the marrow was sublime. So beautifully paired with the steak. Thanks to the 2 waitresses that were holding down the shift yesterday, both were so lovely and even though it was busy and they were stretched really thin (with a few customers complaining about wait times), both took it head on and persevered. We will back!

I had an issue with the late delivery which i ordered at Just Eat… it had been 1 hr and 45 mins and the food is not collected at the restaurant. The time of the collection and delivery keeps on changing. So i decided to go to the hospital and collect the food. When I arrived yesterday 12/08/2024 at 8:25 pm I was warmly greeted by receptionist/waitress and I immediately informed her that I am there to collect a food which I have been waiting for a long time. When the waitress gave me my orders, I informed her that I cannot accept the food because I know that it has been sitting for a long period causing the chips to be soggy and the juice of the burger has settled on the buns. She acknowledged my concern and immediately went to the kitchen, she followed protocol by informing the chef and the chef called the manager. The waitress went out and the manager was on the phone. I explained the situation, and extend her assistance by instructing the chef to provide another set of orders for me and she will settle all issues with Just Eat. After waiting for a short time, the waitress came out with my fresh order and warmly apologise for the inconvenience. Great service. The food is amazing. My kids love the burger and fries. They cannot settle for one burger and fries anymore. Note: The question that arise, is the portioning.

Visited for the first time yesterday for lunch with some friends & was thoroughly impressed. We booked last minute and managed to get a table. Staff were very friendly and catered to all of our dietary needs!! Restaurant is very cosy and bas a warm welcome to it. Will most definitely be back next time I visit London as it’s not often we find a hidden gem like this.

What a great establishment. The food was to die for. Them smash burgers and cheese burger spring rolls are to die for! All dishes served were also Halal. I will be returning for sure 💯

With a lot of recommendations from bloggers and the current 4* plus reviews on google we wanted to try this place with high hopes and expectations. For starters we ordered the buffalo wings, these tasted nice. But then came along our mains..where do I start? We ordered 2 steaks one with mash and one with fries. Half chicken and American burger both with chips. The mash was very lumpy and very under seasoned. The fries were over cooked and very crispy. The presentation of the steak was very underwhelming. The meat slopped over a plate and the sides came for you to put on the plate. The half chicken had no taste, tasted like plain chicken. Sometimes it’s style over substance but here it was no style and no substance! For a place that’s got many reviews you’d think the food would be average to good or even edible. Both steak meals were left unfinished and also the half chicken meal was left unfinished too. The food wasn’t cheap either so it was a full on let down. We paid £140 for 2 starters, 4 mains and 1 drink and 1 dessert as tap water was given and had. I would definitely NOT come back here as it was a waste of money and it hurt our bellies eating such food.

Loved it here! Got introduced by our friends to this place as they are regulars here. I got the cornflake chicken burger and it was delicious, didn’t feel heavy at all. Had the perfect crunch. Fries served with the burgers were also nice. The pricing is pretty good as well we thought it’s well worth the visit. Happy diners will come back again!

The inside of this restaurant is beautiful and when waiting for food, you do not get bored simply looking around at the unique, rustic interior. I had the roast dinner and for the price of 4, which was over £100, and it was nice, but did lot live up to its price in my opinion. Nevertheless, it did come hot and the staff are lovely and welcoming!

Tiberius you are a legend! Ive been here on my lunch break and had their lunch timed deal with brisket the potatoe tots and house slaw! for £11-£12 cant complain! Dinner menu was great as well ive tried his smash burgers, briskets and steaks. Im fussy with mac and cheese but this was made to perfection! the mocktails were fresh and innovative! will be back again soo!

We had my son’s nursery graduation meal with friends! Our waitress Edit looked after us thoroughly throughout the meal! She is so funny, witty and always prompt and very accommodating ! We adored the food and service topped it! I can’t fault it and we will back soon 😘 Thank you Edit and chefs for making our meal so memorable ❤️

Rump steak was totally tasteless and undercooked! Was fighting with it to cut it! However the fries were nice! Will not be returning.

I ordered from this restaurant through a delivery service, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The smash burgers arrived with missing patties, and the chips were greasy and undercooked. When I called the restaurant to address the issue, they denied any responsibility. I was assured by 'Haydar' that my order would be resent, but after waiting nearly an hour, I called back only to be told he had left early. This was highly unprofessional and felt dishonest. They then asked me to visit the store to get the correct order, despite the fact that I live far away, which is why I opted for delivery in the first place. This caused further inconvenience. The customer service was terrible, and my issues remain unresolved. I will not be ordering from or visiting this restaurant again, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I am keen to see how management publicly responds below and whether they feel this is acceptable…

Hi.since long time our favourite restaurant now is not like before two days ago I ordered American burger and one brownie I received only burger today we been with friends food is cold the side mash potato salad chips coming after finished the meal.ownner need to keep attention.

I was recommended by multiple people to try cristinas and I can definitely say it is one of the best steak houses I have been to. My steak was cooked to perfection and the taste did not disappoint! Staff were extremely helpful and attentive.

Honestly the worst steak restaurant I’ve been to in my life! Cold steak had to ask to be reheated, the beef and chicken tacos were horrendous. Would definitely not recommend, there is a Nando’s not too far better of going there.

I’ve been to cristinas recently with family we have ordered 4 Sunday roasts it was inedible the meat we was served was all fat no lamb at all would never visit again. I have pictures I can send to you I never leave bad reviews I was disappointed. I visited 2 weeks ago on the weekend I have told the waiter none of the plates were finished you could have rectified it but instead I paid the bill in full I have the receipt as I have paid by card so I didn’t run away to leave a review.

I came here a few months ago, and I think my experience could have been better. We ordered the beef tacos and prawn dumplings for started, both were terrible. The prawn dumplings were so hard. They were fries so they were supposed to be crispy, but the shell/pastry was just solid hard, and the shredded beef tacos were also terrible, they had this sweetness to them that didn’t belong - if you like sweet and savoury flavour then maybe this is for you. But another thing to note was that the actual tortillas had dried up and become hard by the time they served us, so you couldn’t fold without cracking it in half. I ordered the sirloin steak which I thought was really good. It was cooked exactly how I had asked and the peppercorn sauce was amazing. Definitely have mixed feelings about this place, but as my initial introduction to the food was terrible, I had to bring my rating down.

Beware of sneaky service charge added to your bill. We had dinner here which was just average and nothing more! We paid the bill and left it wasn’t till the next day I looked at my bill and saw a service charge added onto it without even being told about it. The funniest thing is that on the bottom of the bill it says only great service deserves a tip. We’ll leave that up to you. I called the restaurant and spoke to lady about the service charge and asked for a refund, I was told I would have to come in to get my refund and that the service charge is discretionary. Yes discretionary if I knew it was being added and approved of it. I explained that I don’t live near there but she was adamant she would not do a refund to my card unless I came in, she then asked if I was American so I asked her what difference would it make if I was American, Japanese or anything else but she just said Have a nice day and hung up on me.

Place had cozy interior with clean toilets. Always full during dinner time but didn't notice a queue, best to book ahead. Celebrated birthday here. Staff was friendly. The steaks were really good and affordable. Highly recommended.

Lovely place for steak and burgers Service let it down, I found the waitresses quite abrupt. They charged me for a side we didn’t order and we didn’t see until we left the restaurant. Order got mixed up and one of our party got their food about 10 mins before everyone else. No apology and still had the audacity to charge us service charge 😂 the gentleman waiter was lovely, completely different attitude to the others. Anyways, will be back but because the food is excellent.

Soggy oil drenched fish and stale chips!!! Sack the chef or you lot will have to close down. Useless food and absolutely low quality compared to your previous reputation your eatery is going downhill very soon.

Came here for my birthday and was disappointed. We visited years ago and the brisket burger was amazing. However standards seem to have dropped as the beef was really dry. The BBQ sauce tasted quite sour and cold so I would avoid if you prefer a sweet taste. The homemade lemonade isn't fizzy so I would order another drink if you want a fizzy one. The spring rolls were quite oily and had this weird off taste that I can't explain. We gave feedback (after the waitress requested this) and we were told that the meat was dry because of the "cut of the meat" and told "yeah it is cold" about the sauce in a condescending way. My husband cancelled his initial request for my birthday desert as I wanted to go elsewhere to have a better experience. Despite this, we were kindly given a complementary brownie desert that unfortunately tasted burnt, really sweet, and stale. That being said the smash burger tasted great, good quality meat that was juicy and succulent so I would recommend this!

Best smash burger in east London hand down

Place is lovely. Different decor to other places but its nice. Staff are busy, friendly, helpful and polite. Food is lovely. Peppercorn sauce a bit over powering with whole peppercorns but that is personal. Chips were nice bit went cold quckly. Mac and cheese was lovely the mushroom sauce was verynice and tasted very mushroomy. The marrow gravy was very marrowy and tastedgreat. Rib eye steaks were cooked correctly. Could have been a bit more medium rare but then personal prefference. When back in area will be back.
