This cafe is in the heart of Barking. They cater for a variety of tastes and I love the combination of bacon and salad in the BLT. The salads are always fresh and the serving area is clean. The staff are attentive, but not over bearing. I think this is an ideal English cafe

Enjoyed a great all day breakfast in Al's diner, in the town centre only 2 minutes from the station Al's has an excellent varied menu, coffees, teas and cold drinks were a So available. I would recommend Al's.

I love the Bacon Lettuce and tomato combination here. The salad is always fresh, the bloomer bread lightly toasted and the mayonnaise tops this treat. Great portions, lovely food, plenty of choice. Table service or take away. Great value for money too.

Popped in this cafe today as I really fancied a full English fry up breakfast. There was a good selection of set breakfasts to pick from with combinations of all the usual breakfast items. I opted for egg, bacon, beans, bubble n squeak and sausage. It came with coffee and two slices of thick buttered toast. It was very nice and a shout out for the bubble..a good mix of veggies n mashed potato. I've had it in other cafes before and it's been mostly mash n a few greens. The breakfast came to £6 which is pretty good for what I had. The cafe also does a good variety of lunchtime meals too.

Lovely people, Al and Mary. Good food, reasonable prices, very hearty! You won't leave hungry and the food is always tasty. Breakfasts are great. If you want more of anything or any changes they are really accommodating. Probably the last place anywhere in London to get bubble and squeak in a fry up!

From the minute we walked in, to the minute we left - 10/10, this has to be the best cafe I’ve ever been to. The ambience of the place is second to none. Value for money was shockingly great, service was impeccable. This is Barkings best place to eat.

We've lived in Barking since the beginning of the year, and always meant to pop in at the weekend for breakfast. A few weeks ago we finally did, and have been regular Sunday visitors ever since! What a lovely place! From the iconic movie posters on the wall, to the very friendly, welcoming staff, this café is a gem. After one visit, we were welcomed back like old friends. The food is delicious - I've become addicted to omelette and salad, having not eaten an omelette for years. The prices are very reasonable, especially for freshly cooked food, and the service is quick and cheerful. Lovely place.

Brill family run cafe ***** We visited every morning for breakfast during a recent stay - there was 16 of us at times and they moved the tables and chairs together every time Great menu but we swapped and changed with no problem - the little ones wanted cereal and they went off to the shop and got cereal - first class service Will be back when we visit next time ******

So went here on 14th October 2016. Ordered a breakfast which was £6.50. To my horror I was told that it didn't include bread/toast or a drink. All had to be purchased separately. For that price I would expect it to be included. Food was standard quality. Using the toilet was an interesting experience, had to go out the back of the cafe via a grubby storage room (which had several open boxes of eggs sitting on the floor), to an outside alleyway which eventually led to a toilet. I would not return to this cafe, overpriced.

Good for large breakfasts or lunches, what you would expect from an East End diner. Have weekly lunches here, Quarter Pound Megaburger's good, liver and bacon, gamon steak and chips, scampi etc... all good price around £6-7 and large portions. Very friendly staff and Virgin radio on.

Clean, decent food, good prices. Can't go as often as I'd like as I'm watching the waist, but I treat myself now and again.

It is always good to support an individually run traditional cafe rather than one of the chain outlets and this is up there with the best. Friendly staff, busy with local regular customer and with an excellent menu. Well prepared food ( Excellent omelettes ), fairly priced and generous servings. A return visit certainly when next in the area and recommended for good straightforward food.

Al's is a proper local cafe. Great breakfasts, great coffee, wonderful club sandwiches. Quite an extensive range of menu options. Al is friendly and welcoming as are his team. This is how a local cafe should be and a much much better alternative to the so-called big High Street coffee shops.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, with a real "homely" feel - as they seem to know their regulars by name - so a great customer satisfaction score if they have returning and regular business! The menu is varied and wide - with easy to read menu suggestions - with the staff only too willing to tailor exactly what you would like.Fast and friendly service for a good quality breakfast - to set me up for the rest of the day.Great value, great service and very friendly staff, Will definitely visit again!

We have been eating at Al's since we moved into Barking. I live above a cafe and still walk to Al's for breakfast. This because Al's food is not as greasy as other cafés. I can taste better quality fresh produces at Al's. Their use of thick bloomer bread also make Al's better then others. We enjoyed eating here so often that the Al's ladies remember our breakfast order.

Love it here. It is SO clean, great food, good prices. The staff are brilliant, the manager is very welcoming, polite, courteous and nothing too much trouble. I thoroughly recommend going here, best place to eat in Barking, me and my family will continue to use it, 11 out of 10, perfect.

Had such high hopes for this place, but they did not deliver! Potato skin - nothing special, flavourless. Steak chimichurri bruschetta - this was okay Lamb shank - my goodness, this was awful, no flavour in meat, simply drowned in bland gravy Rib eye steak - ordered medium rare but it was pretty close to rare so couldn’t eat it Fries - very dry. There were only 2 people serving tables on a Friday night where literally all tables were taken, so everything took so long. Definitely definitely won’t recommend or revisit.
