Our super local pub. Been in a few times for a quick beer stop. Service is always friendly. 2 cocktails for £10 deal is my favourite offer. On Saturday’s they are my worst enemy due to Live music / Karaoke nights that keeps me up due to us living in close proximity. But that’s the tax you pay living on a main road I guess.

Quiet Sunday afternoon. Popped in for a drink with a friend and mate. Quick, pleasant service. Watched some tennis, although the music wasn't to my taste. I was tempted by the beer garden but it rained. All good.

I enjoyed my visit to the Alma. Service was excellent. The bar very clean and drinks reasonably priced. The customers were also friendly. I understand they have live music and intend improving the garden at the rear if the property. There is a large patio out front which is a sun-trap all day. A good local pub.

Went to a live music evening here and was pleasantly surprised, limited real ale from tap but lots of alternatives. Staff pleasant and amicable, great atmosphere with the live music.

There was a band there, it was a very lovely evening good vibes. Trying yo grt a drink and then.paying for it was absolutely ridiculous

Attended with 20 members of family for my daughters birthday. Lovely space and they allowed us to bring toys and play mats and older members entertained by pool table and darts board. Great food on offer such as pizzas, wings and veggie bites of mozzarella sticks etc. This pub has struggled with footfall over the years but I’d encourage everyone to support this local pub with friendly welcoming new owners. Dog friendly too ❤️

We went for granddaughters first birthday. Had a great time. The draught beer Tribune IPA was brill. The food we had was really tasty. The staff were lovely. We will return.

done pub crawl around croydon with a group of friends and wandered into this place. first time in since a reopening a few years ago and a desperate soulless place with a handful in here and a couple of security staff checking there phones. we all came in and the bar staff came over and served us and then a guy minding his own business with an empty pint glass was shouted at by the barmaid and asked to leave. turns out he couldn't get served in an empty pub...!! and complained...!! anyway we got ur beers mostly Guinness and it was bad....not much more to say so we left after one...wont be in here for a long time again.

RnB dj Friday nights with a great DJ playing old school tunes. Good karaoke Sunday makes for a great weekend socialising

I bought two pints of Guinness that went flat and half a larger! That ignorant pup of a woman charged me £14,95.. Really!

Bartender was polite and personable, drinks were alright, good crowd on a Saturday night, great for a night out with friends.

Love my local. Met the new owner and he's a sound guy. Not too far from east Croydon station too. Love the staff too

On the wall outside it says "purveyors of craft beer". There are no craft beers on sale. I can only imagine that they mean the Heineken owned Brixton and Beavertown which is false advertising.

I visited the Alma Tavern on a Sunday evening, as a group of 4 adults. The restaurant area is very welcoming. The menu has a good range of options from fish & chips to curry to burgers. It was easy to order and the service was prompt. We were very happy with the quality of the food, size of the portion (generous) and overall felt the Alma Tavern offers great value for money. If you are a sports fan there are tables where you can watch live sport on the TV.

Went to this pub for the first time tonight as it is our local and was shocked and never felt so uncomfortable. It also clearly states on their website they do 2 for 1 cocktails until 7pm so when we got there we ordered some which the girl behind the bar said was fine. Once our drinks were served we were then told by the manager that they no longer do the 2for1 deal and it shouldn't have been on the menu and charged us full price instead. The girl behind the bar didn't know how to make the drinks as was reading the ingredients on the menu and the drinks were disgusting. Would never go back. Pleasant and comfortable with obliging staff.

Very helpful host. Happy to cook my steak for a bit longer when requested.

Nice Pub, Landlord was friendly,fair prices on drinks and food. Dogs allowed in too! Plenty of seating inside and out.

Much improved pub great refurbishment has been done since I was last here much better

We order the sharing platter and unfortunately half the items listed were missing. We made the staff aware and they brought out what looked like chicken nuggets and frozen corn on the cob to apologise. I would never eat in there again.

Nice pub that shows Sky Sports. The taps are as fresh as I've tasted anywhere and my friend said the burger meal he had was very nice. Pool tables and darts available too.

The food is delicious! Very good prices and great atmosphere. A great place to go.

Not sure where to start. Rude manager, verbally and physically aggressive male staff, zero atmosphere other than the odd fight. High turnover of staff—seemingly anyone professional and friendly leaves. And it isn’t down to the area. Do yourself a favour and walk round the corner to The Builders Arms or The Ovql.

Even though this place has had its decor updated it's still a bit rough around the edges...that includes the clientele

They have refurbished it nicely, but we thought it was expensive. 1 pint and 1 bottle of diet coke £8.90.

Went to watch the Tottenham v Arsenal Clash. Nice atmosphere and apparently they've done it all up.

Its nicely redecorated however the music is so loud it was difficult to hold a conversation. They had the doors open and it was a chilly night so I'm afraid my experience wasn't great.

Good pub, however lacks atmosphere. Lights are way too bright for the pub, felt like we were in a jewellery store. Food service stops at 8pm and they turn the music off half hour before pub due to close. However, we will give it another go :)

Great pub and live atmosphere! Dog friendly and staff are lovely and fun to be around! Definitely a pub to visit for food, drink and a good laugh!

Classic pub with a nice atmosphere

Glad it's there, great that they have done it up, and I feel the staff are trying. Unfortunately, I think some basic things are wrong, starting with a pool table. Better to have bums on seats , better to have extra seating, so people can get away from the thick of it. Never been a fan of kids in pubs, I go to pubs to get away from them. Not sure yet.

Came for a drink and left feeling full and happy. Ice cold beer. Good food, and even better - given free dessert. Buzzing vibe. Will definitely be back.

Great family atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, tasty food menu (no children after 8pm), plenty of seating inside and out. Pool table, dart board, music and sports tv add to the proper pub vibe. This venue has now become our new local.

Clean good beer made to feel welcome

Ahhhh how good it was to be back in London and having a pint. This pub did not disappoint. Lively local with friendly bar staff and a good mix of neighbors in on a Friday night having a good laugh. Beautiful old bar preserved among the modern upgrades. If you happen to begin Croydon stop in for one!

Good place for a beer and playing pool.

We paid our first visit to the newly refurbished Alma Tavern at lunchtime today. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff really friendly. There were quite a few veggie options on the menu and generally a lot of choice. Very happy to have this lovely local pub on my door step!

I love how alma tavern decides on their closing time as it goes! You think double checking if you will have time to have the last beer is good enough for staff, no its not - you will be asked to leave with your beer in a take away coffee cup so to make sure staff is happy although the pub was closing in 30min! I go to pub to unwind and have stress free environment, this experience made me stressed and not happy! Would have loved to have a local pub however will return to oval tavern again and again! Cheers

I went for a pint and I was asked to leave at 9:20Pm even though the pub closes at 10pm and I also checked if it was fine for me to order a last drink We had to pour our -almost full beers- in coffee cups as they decided to close 30 mins early... Would have been nice to have been told this at the time of ordering. I even mentioned this to the guy who told us to leave and he said that whoever told us we could have had one more beer at the bar was new and didn't know what he was doing. Pick a closing time and stick to it.

I've been turned away twice since the pub reopened recently by 8pm despite customers in the pub. I think it's disappointing, and the staff are not engaging with the local community and customers

I emailed the pub on 26 January 2022 requesting a table for 4 to celebrate my husband’s birthday on 29 January 2022 from midday. My email was not acknowledged so I rang the pub several times between 26th and 29th January 2022 for the line to cut out after several rings so gave up and went elsewhere. This pub is out of our way so we’re highly unlikely to venture here - oh well.

Had a drink with some friends after work. New management as opened recently, so was expecting growing pains, but great service throughout!

Not very good for the elderly or Disabled Persons as the tables and chairs too high.

Visited for the first time today. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Glad it's on my doorstep. Can't wait for summer to sit on the nice new benches outside!

First time in the new Alma. The Moretti beer is not good, infact its quite insulting. And it's 60p more than the nearest local.

Love the refurb, and the cask ale was spanking quality. Some dubious customers, but if they can keep up the ale quality, I for one, will be back.

Came in for a pint to see what it looked like after reopening. We ordered a drink only to be told afterwards that they don't accept cards (would have been nice to have been told this in advance). Moreover they say they close at 11pm on Google but we were asked to leave at 9pm

Well decorated and sympathetically improved character Victorian pub in historic East India conservation area. Old style pub marred by unfriendly and rather rude bar staff last night and loud swearing from pool area from what could be a really nice venue. I politely asked the barman about the local area and recent closure of The Glamorgan pub nearby, he sharply replied he wasn't local. When I asked what area he was from (to make conversation) he said "why you asking lots of question" and walked off. Not a warm welcome so we didn't stay for food or a second drink.. Nice decor and some nice touches to the interior but pool table attracts the wrong crowd and the fruit machines are very 80s.. It's my nearest pub but I rarely go, the poorly decorated nearby Oval pub is much more friendly as is the Builders pub (Fullers). Hopefully the changes to Croydon will improve the demograph and feel of a pub with much potential.

Rubbish beers, need to clean the pipes

This is our local. We’ve seen it open, closed, then re opened. It had a lovely refurbish keeping all the old style of the pub. There have been a couple of chefs but didn’t last long. Worse thing they did was to try to introduce a carvery. We tried it once. They partitioned the end of the pub off for this. Previously the pub had live music in that area which was always good fun and attracted more people. Now it’s dismal, bar staff uninterested, still advertising food but don’t serve food.... it’s such a shame. This lovely old pub could be a great local, bring back the entertainment on weekends, re open up the divider and don’t serve food unless it’s good food. We will still use it now and again because I’d hate to loose it. Gutted.

A large pub on a main road close to Croydon with tables and chairs out front and a car park at the rear which doesn't serve any food at lunchtime - the management are missing a huge opportunity here. I saw one member of bar staff and one customer. The staff member was unable to recommend anywhere we could eat so the customer suggested a couple of pubs nearby which do serve lunches.

Ok pub, advertised food but an issue with the kitchen so we're not serving. Would not go out of my way to eat there though. So probably wouldn't visit again for food.

Nice place but food is terrible. Went there with some colleagues for lunch air 15 ppl and nobody enjoyed their food. I personally got a fish(hard and dry like a piece of wood) and chips (fine). Not going there for good again sorry.

Nicely decked out venue however rough and bawdy locals, too many fights spoil what could be a good pub. The last time I went there there were dozens if police officers trying to break up Irish Traveller fight that went on hours involving several hundred people spilling out onto surrounds.. management need to take control and improve clientelle.

Big outdoor seating area in the front and a smaller, more cozy one in the back with heaters means great outdoor drinking whatever the weather

Not many people in there because it's to dear 4 pounds plus for a pint of lager take my money where they can't take their beer poke it
