The George in Croydon

Good beer and food. When going for real ale, always check both bars as they don't stock identidal ales. Very handy for the George Street tram stop.

Great big pub in the heart of croydon, big menu with lots of options and service really good.

I went on a Saturday night...the place was very crowded, a lot of people in the pub! Authentic British atmosphere! We served the classic fish and chips which was delicious, fresh! The Halloumi grill portion was not very good, it was too smoked! It is worth trying such food in their pubs!

If you ever been to a weatherspoons then you would definitely know how the atmosphere is there and I gotta say its always laugh with multicultural vibe and a fast paced staff. Food I'll give a 9/10 not the best but worth to eat.

Decent pub, nice that there are 2 bars and the toilets are also on the same level as the pub. Staff very helpful. Was very busy when we visited so took awhile to get a seat and our table service but apart from that it was a good experience 😀

Very busy to begin with but got quieter as the time went on. Not much bad you can say about a Wetherspoons!

I've been going to spoons for years, and the food has always been great quality, but recently, the food has dropped in quality and portion sizes! Also, with a panini, you used to get a free side with it, but now you have to pay for it! Always rammo in this pub as well you'll be lucky to get a seat!

We love to pop in for drinks with friends during the weekend. Always very busy in the evening through but staff is very friendly and always feel welcome. Food is also great . Breakfast is great value for money so we come often. Lunch and evening foot is also good. Typical pub grub is a great price, and portions are very generous. If you are looking for a family/ budget friendly pub or for a place to meet with friends, then this is it .

Right so firstly, I would NEVER dream of reviewing a spoons, but I’m making an exception for this one. Popped in on Friday for a quick lunchtime drink. The prices are grand as in any spoons, but the entertainment from the regulars will have me coming back😂😂. These guys are as funny as any stand up comedians I’ve paid money to see! Note to spoons, keep these men happy and you’ll see me every Friday lunch break!

I’m not a fan of the owner of this chain - but the staff here understand the community they serve. It welcomes members of the deaf community, students, travellers, local residents and workers, sports fans and more - largely without conflict/dispute. On a personal level, I despise Tim Martin’s politics. The workers in this pub reflect the community here - as do the people who choose to drink here. It’s an affordable night out. There are local pubs I prefer - but this is a well-run pub I’m happy to visit on a regular basis.

Me and my husband just literally just walked in the door on Xmas eve to see our family and some bouncer come up to us demanded my husbands ID which he started saying that he doesn't have it his wife does. Half way through that sentence this bouncer just grabbed my husband started pulling him over the table demanding him to leave when I had his ID in my hand trying to show this man. This man proceeded to try and drag my husband and several people had to get involved for this bouncer to let go of him. This is absolutely disgusting and this man should not be aloud on the door ever again.

Their scampi and fish and chips are good. Their lemon chicken was just boiled chicken with seasoning on it. Wasn't the best, but overall, they are good. Portions could be bigger considering if you order an extra side of chips its more than what actually comes with your meal.

Waited 15 mins to be served, was ignored by staff so walked across the road to riff raffs and served straight away by happy staff who even gave me a haribo.

Still the best spoons for real ale when travelling from London to Brighton. Always a great selection of guest ale with 12 or more on everyday.

Nothing exceptional, typical spoons reasnobale prices and adequate food, you aint paying for gourmet food, so dont expect it, table service is satisfactory and staff seem plesent enough, not bad experience, used for quick bite n couple of beers after a days work, out of town

I’m from Spain and this is the unique place where I’ve found great food with very low prices. I recommend this place one hundred percent and I’ll go back for sure.

It's a spoons so you know what to expect. The inside decor has not changed in the last 15 years at a bare minimum but drinks prices are some of the cheapest around so you can't complain! Service speed via the app was decent. A round for 4 was on par with 2 drinks from boxpark.

Underrated place, delicious food and very affordable and ofc the drinks are nice too

The George isn't ok place to sit back or relax and have a meal with some friends unfortunately half their menu isn't there they are out of stock with food so it's really annoying when you try to order pizzas and there's no pizzas

Vegetarian Breakfast, excellent value for money. You can order via App at desk or at bar. Coffee/Tea was extra.

If you know Wetherspoons you know what to expect. It's big and busy but has a great selection of ales, large choice of food and drink and the Chairman's ridiculous views aside, a good place to go.

Unusally friendly pub. Like most Wetherspoons a bit care-worn and needs a decor refresh, but don't let that put you off. Recomend, and will revisit.

Lovely street side pub. I stopped by for a drink so can't say much about the food. I enjoyed reading the many inscriptions on the walls.

Wetherspoons is place where you know exactly what you're going for. A good price/quality ratio, food and drinks cheap but good quality, you'll definitely find something that you'll like and want to come back for. Service at the bar can take bit longer due to all the people there but staff friendly and at no point look overwhelmed. To avoid that you can use the app to place your orders, which is easy to use and even tells you if something is unavailable. Personally love the app for times when it's just me, so that I grab a free table and I don't have to leave it

Popped in after shopping, just looking round the place as you do good place to people watch usually friendly. An ex member of staff and others being loud look to be having a good time, we've seen in there a few times took offence to this decided to caused a bit of a scene embarrassed myself and party we finished our drinks and left. Not a very pleasant experience.

Probably the worst wetherspoons meal we've had in a very long time. Staff were very friendly tho.

My girls were happy, so I'm happy too 😁 Very decent fish and chips in lowest possible price range, but still I couldn't find any fault, even though with such a price I was prepared for low quality, so to sum up - nice quality, low price and quick service - sounds nearly impossible, but apparently it was :)

Great choice of veggie good. Really inexpensive food and drink. Always busy with a good mix of people. Fantastic friendly. Quorn katsu curry has 8 nuggets £8.66 with an alcohol drink such good value. And the good old 5 bean curry is still great.

Prices are quite good by the looks. Food Qulaity should be fine but What i was looking for was finished. Its literally start of the High street.

Since its the only weatherspoon left in central croydon, we don't have any other choice and I heard purley weatherspoon is closing too! Still mourning my beloved Skylark, which closed last year summer, atmosphere was more friendly, more diverse then the typical punters who go to the George. Since Skylark closed, I barely go out to drink now.

Place stinks of rotten food the minute you walk in dirty glasses full of misfits people on the pounce looking for anything they can get for nothing warning warning avoid at all cost it's dreadful place!!! Keep Smiling Be Good JOHN
