Friendly staff, Nice surroundings, cosy pub feel, Quick and attentive service There were some limited choices on the day I visited Sea bass and fish/chips sold out), kids menu was great and good fun to be able to make your own meal. Really enjoyed and thanks to the staff.

All staff were lovely, friendly and efficient, thank you. We were a party of 8 with 3 children under 7 so when ordering it was a little muddled but our server coped brilliantly.

Food was good. Service was good. 30% discount was good. The restaurant was a bit cold. Just putting heating on for an hour would take the nip out of the air.

Visited the fox over the weekend. What a lovely pub! The food was great. The atmosphere was lovely and so were the staff!!

This place is just so cosy after a walk in the valley. Staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming. The sandwiches are lovely too and great value for money, we didnt realise they came with fries which was even better! The fairy lights in side and the cost fires are lovely. Yes the outside can do with a touch of paint but after speaking to the bartender about it - he advised it was getting done in the spring next year! We will certainly be coming back soon

We have visited the fox on several occasions, but our visit on Sunday the 27th of October was a very different experience. Firstly, the pub was virtually empty with numerous members of staff available. We were seated on a table under bright spotlights, when we politely asked to move to another table we were told it was booked (no one else was in the area we were in sat and no one else arrived during our meal.) The room was cold. I ordered vegetable Wellington. The Wellington was an overcooked strip of flaky pastry separate from the vegetable component which was a solid square of a tasteless hard textured substance, I could not identify. The vegetables were OK. In hindsight I should have returned the meal, but I was hungry so ate the vegetables. My husbands sea bass with king Prawn was equally disappointing. Several waiting staff served us and with the exception of the person who refused to offer us another table in an empty restaurant they were pleasant and polite.

Jack was our waiter. Very friendly and helpful. Good fun

Everything is great about the place except the external decor. It's really looking a little bit tired and could do with a lick of paint.

Ordered off the weekend treats menu. For starter I had the backed scallops and shrimp was bland with no flavour was supposed to come with tobacco in it couldn’t taste nothing. For main I had “ribeye” steak very tough and looked a lot like rump. Then got a new steak which was a sirloin and was rare when I had asked for medium rare. Contrast to the other courses the chocolate trio was very nice which bumped the rating up to a 2 star. Overall I will not be coming back to eat here again very disappointed with the food quality and

Gorgeous little country pub oozing with rustic charm. We had the steak and ale pie after a walk around the Happy Valley. We'll definitely be back again!

Booked a table in the dog friendly area, but they had live music on which made it far too loud to stay inside. Went outside instead, chose our meals, went to the bar to order & was told it would be an hour's wait for food - might have been ok if we were inside, but sitting outside with my 84 year-old Mum was not going to be ok, so we left and went elsewhere. There was nothing about the live music on the website, though apparently it was on their social media (why would I go on there if all I wanted to do was book a table)

Another fabulous meal at The Fox. Jack is a star and a credit to your team. Zoia needs a mention for great food and attention to detail. Delicious food and good vegan and veggie options.

Beautiful interior, looked just the place to enjoy a meal. Exterior didn't seem to have changed much since last visit, some 5yrs ago. V.large garden area, unfortunately sun kept off it as surrounded by tall thick trees. Drinks, had one and left. At £6.70 a pint, thought having more would be financially unwise. Pub has a bus stop close by, so if for instance travelling from Croydon, The Fox is easilly accessible, leave the car at home.

Oliver was the sweetest and most efficient server. And food cooked by Jamie was delicious - what a duo ;)

This venue is very cozy and left a very good impression on the people I bring there. Hospitable hosts & delicious food. Would like to thank Destiny in particular for being such a wonderful worker, made our visit even more worthwhile the travelling! I recommend to everyone! We had Sunday lunch at The Fox to celebrate a family birthday. We were given a lovely big table that gave us lots of space. The atmosphere was really chilled- we could take our time and enjoy our meal. The waiters were really attentive and friendly whilst still giving us space. We were served by Katie and Destiny, who were very thoughtful with special requests that we had.

A warm welcome by genuinely lovely friendly people. We usually call in at least once weekly to sample the good selection of beers and food on offer. It's a lovely relaxing atmosphere where you can watch the world pass by and enjoy an excellent choice of meals and drinks. There is plenty of free parking on site. Lynn

Great atmosphere, dog friendly. Had dinner with my daughter, kids meal was hot, ploughmans for myself and the mac side was tasty! Destiny and Jake both did an excellent job looking after us.

We had Sunday lunch but unfortunately their allergies policy means they can't guarantee any traces won't be picked up. So one of our group who's gluten intolerant couldn't have anything from the kitchen. We should have checked before but many kitchens now have separate areas to allow for this. The fox doesn't do this so that was disappointing as the person who missed out has to sit there with a bag of crisps. I know it's policy so maybe make this much clearer next time. Sept 2024

Do not visit this pub/restaurant if you require a Gluten Free meal. I visited on Sunday with the family & grandchildren and was informed by the waitress that nothing on the menu was Gluten Free. She checked this point with the chef who confirmed there was no Gluten Free options available and they could not make up a Gluten Free meal.

Sunday lunch was very tasty. I had the trio of roasts and the honeycomb globe. Excellent. Service friendly but a little slow - understandable as it was very busy.

Stopped here for lunch. Lovely location perfect for an afternoon walk after a delicious and filling lunch. We sat outside in the beer garden and had a little Robin join us for part of our meal. Calamari was great, loved the scotch egg, and the roasts were perfect. Good friendly service, would highly recommend.

Not great. Food was typical chain-pub quality, adequate but nothing special. However, the pub itself was very uncared for, outside seating areas were horrible, unfinished meals and drink glasses left on tables not cleared away, smell was disgusting at some, even though weather was nice we just couldn’t sit outside amongst that mess. Inside was slightly better but the whole place felt run down, uncared for and so dark. And unfortunately the gents toilets were disgustingly dirty. Staff were all pleasant and service was good, I think they were just too busy to look after the place. Will def not be returning here 😏

Stopped in after a dog walk. Dogs are welcome inside and in the beer garden, lots of dog bowls for water. You can order using a QR code or at the bar. There isn't much signal in the garden so the QR code option is quite slow. We ordered a mix of starters and sides. The Brie bites were wonderful but I probably wouldn't have the haloumi fries again - they were a bit dry. Good choice of alcohol too.

Really lovely pub, perfect for a break if you are doing the happy valley walk/hike.

A nice friendly relaxed atmosphere.

Took tne grandsons for lunch. 4 and 6yrs. We greeted with a smile by a young man.He double checked we needed 2 children's menus. However no crayons , much to young ones disgust. We ordered by app . We didn't have to wait long. Both boys ordered the fish and chips. The fish was a perfect size. Side dish was crudités sticks. It was well presented and tasty ,plates were cleared and thumbs up given. We ordered fish and chips and the hunters chicken snitzel. Absolutely delicious , good portions. We ordered desert at the bar . It arrived quite quickly Overall a very stress free visit with delicious food.
