Popped in with husband and friend for a quick lunch. (Glass of wine and the cottage/shepherds pie (with pulled lamb). Very tasty and appetising. Can recommend although if I wanted to be picky, I would have like just a little more potato topping (IMO)

We recently had a gender reveal here. The staff were great and everyone complemented the food. Great vibe and definitely recommend.

Two of us had the roast The potatoes were hard and tasted like semi boiled potatoes dipped briefly in oil. Shame as, the rest of it was good. A person with us had so called posh and chips, the chips were only half cooked with the ones at the bottom half white. We told the waiter who shrugged slightly and walked away without comment . The younger waiter was sullen and chewing gum all the time. Won't go there again.

Me and friend came her for Saturday lunch, what a big mistake that was . We ordered are food at 14.20 we got I food after asking many times how long the food would take . Are food came to the table at 15:30. And let me tell you about the good, my fish was burnt, the chicken for the ciabatta was extra crispy(burnt) All I have learnt that I will not be going there again .

Food is now atrocious, they need to employ a chef who knows what he or she is doing, second visit this month doesn’t get better only worse, complain just greeted with a shrug of the shoulders.

Went in for the 1st time with my family for sunday Roast . 2.30pm. All sold out of beef. Which when the menu is just beef or chicken is automatically disappointing. . We were then told food would be 15 minute to an hour. We said fine. Over an hour later we received starters. Very oily mushroom. Dry greasy cheesy garlic bread. Wings were ok to be fair. The mains came 30 minutes later . All cold all looked reheated. The chicken was abysmal no flavour undercooked and inedible. Potatoes tasted like packet potatoes. We quickly gave up and requested clearing so we could have deserts and leave. Guess what NO ICE Cream. 3 of the kids had ice cream as desert of choice . I requested a refumd as by nie 2 hours had passed and this wasnt getting better. Ambience wasnt great. Tables stick. Alumiminium foil in the mens toilets on the pipes. Its a shame. Outstanding location. Good parking. If this could sort out its operation could be awesome for the area

I'd visited previously, which was an ok experience. Yesterday, however, the food was abysmal. My niece ordered gammon & pineapple. She was given the most miniscule piece of pineapple you could imagine & that's all they had allegedly. I was told there were no veggie burgers, so I had a wrap instead. It was like trying to get through cardboard. Things only picked up on the desserts, which we enjoyed. My first glass I returned as it was filthy. The coffee was served in glasses with no handles, so they had to be replaced, in order to avoid third degree burns. The whole lunch was a disgrace, you need to do better.

Great outside area, with lots of seating. I just had the crispy chicken starter which was nice enough but my girlfriend had the sea bass and it was cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Will definitely be returning soon.

Always a friendly welcome, though sometimes the food is edible rather than fantastic.

Range of drinks was fine, service was fine - food was AWFUL. I ordered a medium-rare steak which came burned to a crisp - black on the outside, brown and chewy inside. Possibly the worst steak I've ever eaten. It was supposed to come with "a flat mushroom" - I expected a reasonably-sized portobello, but I got the head of ONE SINGLE mushroom, about the size of a 10p piece. I asked for a side-salad instead of chips, and got a dish of lettuce with literally three strands of red onion. The dish was supposed to include "Crispy Onion Fries" but didn't. The garden peas amounted to about a dessert spoonful and were cold. If I wasn't in a hurry and it wasn't so cheap, I would have asked for it to be cooked from scratch or for my money back. As it was, I ate and left. And I won't be coming back - at least, not to eat.

Had to use one of the hight chairs for my grandson which was absolutely disgusting , had to ask some to clean it, then got asked if it was clean enough for our satisfaction, in my opinion it should be kept clean anyway. The food was either over cooked or under cooked. Would not recommend.....

Really disappointed they’ve not really done anything special for the euros like previous years. The last euros there was 10 TVs outside a great atmosphere special football deals. This year is dreadful in there! Also the bar staff have no clue what they’re doing ordered 2 jagerbombs & it took 3 staff members to put them together needed up with half a pint of redbull and a jäger shot on the side 🤣🤣🤣bring Abdul back he knew how to run a proper fun pub!

The Crown- Ember Inns- firstly i fancied a Sunday lunch ,as in the past when we went to the Toby it was awful- we decided never to go there again ! ! I thought we ( My son , myself and my sons best friend ) would try somewhere a little more local, id looked on line for the prices and to see if they did a veggie option , and reasonable portions for the price, and all seemed in order. This Sunday was overcast but warm so we diecided to sit outside , Outside in the Crown is a lovely large garden seated area, so we prdered some non alcoholic drinks, which was ok and found a table and ordered . I found out at 4pm they had run out of all the vegetarian options, which wasnt a great start , and so i had to get thme to ask the chef if he could put scampi with my roast , the chef ( if you could call him that ) agreed, So my Son and his mate orderd the sharing dinner ( chicken and ham ) two meats, and veg and potatoes, meant for sharing , but its not big enough to share, so they had one each - and i had a mix up of scampi and veg , and potatoes, . Its describes as omming with a rich gravy - lumpy gravy ! The roast potatoes were overdone to a crisp and had no potato inside, and the veg wasnt cooked properly , some over cooked some undercooked , quite frankly it was revolting ! I decided that after that revolting roast , id try some of their desert , i thought it cant be as bad , - it was- it was shop bought, i had a caramel cheese cale whoch was supposed to be with raspberries, and it came with black currants , the boys had stiky toffee pudding, which we all agreed was shop bought, and birds eye custard ! The whole price for the drinks and the food was about £68.00 for the three of us , and i will not ever eat there again ! As a pub its quite nice, the food is abysmal !!!

Excellent open peppered steak sandwich!

We had fairly low expectations when we arrived, but left very satisfied. Firstly the welcome was with a smile, we were invited to pick our table as the Thursday lunch trade was flat. We were told we could order from the app which we did. The battered mushrooms arrived hot and crispy rather than like large steel coated bullets. My partner had the fishcakes as the main course which appeared overcooked on the plate but were in fact were just right, I had the ham egg & chips, being ultra critical the ham was watery. The desert menu that had only 6 options proved more than adequate. My partner had the sticky toffee which was light and fluffy, the opposite of a stodged filled missile that we were more familiar with. My highlight was the caramel cheezecake which should come with a health warning due to it's pretensity to being scrummy beyond words. The service provided by Abi was excellent who during our stay explained that she was new. So in conclusion, address the ham, it was the only let down!

One of my favourite pubs in the area for 15+ years…The Crown always means a lot to me. Ben’s service is 10/10, he is a credit to a company. Even when serving alone and working under pressure with customers waiting - he still delivers great service with a great smile. He deserves a recognition as this is something we have witnessed every single time we have visited The Crown and he was serving. Ben is very consistent, no matter how busy and what time of the day it is. He also makes very nice cocktails, especially Strawberry Mojitos. We love outside sitting area in the Garden Chalets with little heaters and lights, would be nice to have speakers so can hear music better.

Very nice dog-friendly pub. Food was good and plenty of choice. Karaoke on Saturday evening was huge fun

We love to support local businesses so visited The Crown for dinner. We arrived at 6pm and the pub wasn’t particularly crowded and there seemed to be enough staff. We ordered our food and then waited. The starter arrived but no cutlery. Not quite sure how we were meant to eat the food ! We asked for cutlery and ate the starter. Then we waited for the main course. We waited and waited. My husband asked the manager at 7.30 where the main courses were and he said they were just being plated up. We waited and no sight of them. I then asked another member of staff and he said they were just coming. Still no sight of them. My husband asked the manager again and finally they did appear. Luckily we’d held onto our cutlery as none was offered. A ridiculous length of time to wait. The main courses were very basic pub grub - halloumi, oven chips and peas, scampi, oven chips and peas. No idea why it took so long for them to cook this. The place was shabby with a hole in the chair I was sitting in - photo attached - and rubbish in the condiments container on the table.

Had a great lunch here with a friend, great staff and good food and wine. It is conveniently located for East Croydon Station/Gatwick. Unfortunately just got a parking fine in the post! Will pop back to see what can be done about that, we spent two hours there and no mention of entering registration at the bar.

I'd booked table.. But was told only one chef. Over 1.hrs 130 for food. So left . It was busy. I could see people complaining about wait times. The last time I came food was poor .. decided to try again . Big mistake. Went to beefeater Combe Lodge instead. 100% better.

Great English bar, we were there today, Sunday, and there was a game night, the man who directed the game was very friendly since we speak little English. It was a pleasure to be there. Thank you so much!!! thank you so much!!!

i went with a friend, and we went for brunch, I had scampi chips and peas, and my friend ordered a curry, they didn't have the one he ordered so he ordered the other.. His portion size looked small, and the peas with my scampi were over cooked, They also didn't have any tartare sauce and made something up with mayo and gherkins , and it wasn't as good as it used to be , it wasn't very busy, but the staff didnt come and remove the plates i ended up putting them on the bar, and they only had one non alcoholic pink gin ..I feel that this has gone down hill lately , i was a bit disappointed , as its been better in the past

I was disappointed with lunch. I ordered a roast vegetable Mediterranean salad, the dish the arrived was a basic salad that looked as if it came from a ready packet. I queried my order and it was replaced with a dish that still had the same salad, with additional vegetables that were not roasted. Very, very disappointing. So unfortunately I won’t be returning or recommending.

A pleasant visit to our local Ember. Had booked a table but probably could have got away without booking as it was fairly quiet. Always enjoy the food and drink here with a nice atmosphere. Had about an hours wait for meal to be delivered, probably due to a large party that seemed to have various difficulties with their food order and them being informed there were no roast potatoes. I suspect it slowed things down for everyone. Our meals, when they arrived, were great. Staff are friendly. The seating is comfortable. And free parking. All good. See you again soon.

Haven’t been here for a while so decided to come to check it out and u was very disappointed. It wasn’t busy and still took 15 minutes before we got served! I could understand if it was busy but didn’t even get acknowledged. As a local I expected more. Won’t be coming back anytime soon.😞

Went with my family & grandchildren for few drinks and food. Refused to serve food in the bar area reason given was only had 2 chefs working and restaurant was busy. I would never go back. Used to he such a lovely place with friendly service gone downhill

Nice pub, reasonably priced and free parking. The food was a bit of a let down, chips were underdone (can't trust a place that gets chips wrong) and there was a 45 minute wait for food, though I appreciated them telling us that when we put the order in.

Overall, a nice local. Prices are reasonable compared to inner London. There's nothing special on the menu, just fairly standard pub fare. But, it's all good quality and reasonably priced. The garden behind is pleasant - weather cooperating. The staff are pretty uniformly pleasant and helpful.
