I chose The Hole in the Wall to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday (who lives in Great Shelford) with a family lunch for six on 26th April. I had read the plethora of positive reviews, and as one of the party has Parkinson’s, accessible parking was a priority. I messaged the restaurant to check (before I booked) and Sid (Sidharth Getty) replied quickly and said it would not be a problem, so I booked. I then emailed Sid a few times about various other things, and honestly, he is the kindest and most courteous, helpful guy ever! On arrival at the restaurant, Sid greeted us and showed us to our table, and for the next couple of hours, we had the most delicious food, and the best service! It’s a very intimate dining space and we were lucky that 20 mins after our arrival, the other diners left, and so we had the dining room to ourselves which was great! The food all came out at the same time (a rarity) and was perfectly cooked and presented, and we all agreed, absolutely delicious! Once we had declined desert due to being nicely full, the front of house team, plus the chef, came out with an Eton mess type desert cake with a candle in it, to present to my mum, with Happy Birthday playing on a sound system - my mum was delighted and ate the lot, despite being full and not a desert person! The perfect end to the perfect meal. I would not hesitate to recommend this place, and I thank Sidharth once again for his impeccable service. We will return!

I had the best gluten free fish and chips I have eaten - the food was excellent and the staff were lovely. There was live music when we went (we were told about that when we booked) and that was really good too - we had a very enjoyable evening

We visiting for lunch on Saturday and had a choice of a brunch menu (served all day) or a varied lunch menu. Plenty of choice from light bites to traditional pub fayre. Everything was reasonably priced too and a good selection of wines, beers and drinks. The interior of the pub is very welcoming with seating to the front as well as a large garden to the rear. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again.

Four of us came for dinner on a Thursday evening. The food was very good and we would certainly visit again and tell friends about our experience. We had a selection of sharing nibbles which were all very tasty. Mains, two of us chose the chicken and one had the crab and prawn tagliatelli and the other steak. All meals were very well cooked and presented. Looking at the website I see they do offer a Sunday lunch and also breakfasts. The menus for those look great and we will look forward to trying them out. Lovely garden area where you can sit and space for children to play. We will be back! Thanks.

Visited this week with friends, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. I rang ahead to ask what time they closed so that we could pre book a taxi- I was told quite rudely" at the very very very latest 11pm, but if everyone has finished earlier , say 10pm then it will be then". I was surprised, there must be an end time and this was not at all helpful for booking a taxi! Staff were pleasant on arrival (apart from the guy picking his nose behind the bar- not at all pleasant to see, also unprofessional). There were four of us and five dishes were brought out for our starters, after the confusion and realising their mistake we ate our starters. The prawn cocktail literally had one large prawn in, for the cost this was extortionate. We never received our drinks order and had to chase this. £30 for a wing of skate and then to have to pay extra for peas is quite frankly ridiculous for a pub, definitely trying to emulate a much finer dining experience and falling very short I'm afraid. The cost was comparable to Smiths, Alec's & Felix however most definitely not the same experience in any way ! Would not return.

We came here as it was my father in law’s birthday. We were not disappointed, the food was amazing and catered for all. Absolutely delicious, and recommend to anyone. The service we received is amazing, thank you for hosting us. You made a special day very memorable.

Our first time here. The menu took a bit of working out but we enjoyed a really lovely meal. Just be aware these authentic curries are much hotter than the traditional ‘British’ curries. Butter chicken was beautifully cooked in a fresh creamy sauce but spicy. Just think it would be more professional if the waiter hadn’t worn his outdoor coat all evening, especially as he was going between the kitchen and the restaurant. Not a great look either. Upon entering difficult to decide if he was general public or staff. That said all staff were friendly. We will return.

Went into Worlds End after Open Gardens event in Mulbarton. Charged over £12 for a pint of real ale and a bottle of Kopparberg. That's a total rip-off for a local village pub and I'm surprised locals (because that's basically their main custom) will pay that. We haven't been in there for many years but decor hasn't changed since the 1970's! What a shame for such a historic pub.

I have been going to Eric’s at Thornham since they first opened, it was excellent , but gradually going downhill The batter and chips have changed so much the batter is hard and horrid whereas it used to be so crispy and the fish was so thick and tasty the chips used to be so good Went today was a small piece of fish cooked in hard batter and the chips were white and so soggy I was so dissapointed in today The fish and chips have slowly going downhill I used to love and look forward to going to Eric’s but not anymore I paid for a medium but got a small hard battered piece of fish Sorry but you need to improve your service, it’s not good anymore
