Ye Olde Green Dragon in Brentwood

Ordered coffee, but was disappointed as it wasn't as nice as usual. Not sure why, but we'll still go again as I'm sure it was probably a one off...

Visited this pub on a Friday night randomly and they had a life singer. Great atmosphere and a really good singer who got the pub locals up on their feet

Very nice pub at lunchtime and afternoon.

Have visited the Green Dragon on two occasions in the past 3 weeks first time with our four teenage grand children and went back with two others couples on both occasions we had a great time, food & service was excellent will be going back very soon. In fact it is now our go to local pub for food & a drink.

so.. not sure on the "we're filming you for social media signs", but for me, yes it's refurbished and the outside does look good. The inside however now feels smaller, there are definitely less seats, it is not a relaxing pub at all (it was once). Perhaps some UX testing will be carried out by the owner including reading customer reviews so that in the future it will be worth a visit again..

Fabulous burger and chips !friendly staff and landlord. Just what we needed before the rock orchestra gig! . Nice to go back to the pub, where I used to go in the younger years.

Only thing really stopping this place being awesome is the lack of soft drinks on tap

Lovely pub. First time at the weekend for Sunday lunch family of 4 adults and 3 kids. Staff super friendly (thank you Harry and co for taking such good care of us). Beautifully refurbed with old and new meeting nicely. We’ll be coming back. Food was delicious and portion sizes great. This is how service should be. Still not hungry!!

We were a large group of 12 adults, 2 toddlers and a baby and staff couldn’t be more helpful. Food was good.

I had a late lunch here when visiting my son in Hutton. The food was lovely ! Great outdoor area, far enough away from the road. I would thoroughly recommend !

Lovely traditional pub inside, and a great, large, spacious garden area outside. Although garden area overlooks a busy road, there is a large modern outdoor area with plenty of seating even when busy, especially on a sunny day. Highly recommended

Excellent service, delicious food and very friendly

Lovely unhurried catch up lunch with some good friends. Delicious thick sliced ham sandwich came with crisps and salad which I couldn't finish. Another of our party had curry which she said was very good and fresh

Recently refurbished, staff were lovely and very friendly, food absolutely amazing, brilliant experience.

I didn't eat here but the staff were amazing, I needed help finding a cab and they offered to help me as well. Really lovely, I will definitely return for some food next time :)

This used to be a nice place for a quiet pint. Now it sums up all that’s changed/ wrong about Shenfield. There are better old school pubs to go to with no riff raff

I went here with 2 ladies in their 80s on a Sunday afternoon. Unbeknown to Edna, who booked the table, this is a sports bar, and Liverpool was playing at Manchester United, so it was quite a rowdy atmosphere. But I was happy to watch the football. We were looked after very well by Harry, and the Sunday roast cooked by Karen and Ellie was excellent, including homemade cauliflower cheese. Even though we ate at 4.30 on Sunday, all the vegetables were freshly cooked to perfection. It's definitely a good choice for Sunday lunch if Karen is cooking.

Friendly welcome. Was provided with a finger bowl for my chicken wings - special touch - plus chicken wings were properly spicy as they should be.

The service is brilliant and the food is fantastic. I highly recommend the green dragon.

We had a retirement do there a few weeks ago. Great atmosphere one of the last proper pub's left.

Spent our big anniversary there on 10th December Sunday From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we were looked after like royalty Starters were very good Sunday lunch was amazing Great choice Really amazing choice of vegetable's Potato’s Roast and mash Leeks Carrots Brussels Large cauliflower cheese Yorkshire Puds All cooked to perfection with fresh produce Deserts were superb too!! Good choice of Wine, Beers and Cocktails and a very nice Port We just say a big thank you for making our day very special and we will be back very soon to have another great meal Well done everyone Alan and Jacqueline and family

Nice neighbourhood pub, the sausage and egg sandwich was delicious, and the pastries were really tasty too.

Food was absolutely delicious. Had battered Cod and chunky chips, beautifully cooked. Lovely real ale to wash it down with. Would thoroughly recommend coming here.

A quick stop for drinks with a friend on a Wednesday night. Very efficient service, friendly atmosphere and some non alcoholic beer & cider choices for drivers. Didn't eat there but their sister pub is our local The Robin so I would expect it to be good food.

Great place to pop in for lunch. Curry and lasagne were good. Like the large area for non smokers outside. Decent ale, running Ttimothy Taylor's landlord.

A great cosy pub, especially when the weather is good: a great beer garden

Great place for a drink in Shenfield in the Sun. The new outdoor seating is brilliant. Plenty of seats and tables to choose from and lovely atmosphere all round. As for food, you can only have some if you have reserved beforehand (?). After a few very comfortable beers, we were told no food (7pm on a Tuesday?) so had to leave and go elsewhere. Everyone else had the same view it seems as the pub rapidly emptied out around that time. Bar food in the evening would be a welcomed improvement!

Went in this pace yesterday with my friend my 10 year old boy and his mate bough drinks and 3 burgers and chips and nuggets and chips . The food was awful wasn’t made is shop bought from Icelands the burger took one bite wasn’t cooked was sick when got home I complained to staff they gave me £15 refund when I spent £60 terrible food will not eat in here again as beem I’ll all day . Friday 16th June I came in at 16:00 pm . Staff nice food terrible

I came into the pub on Saturday with my family for my cousins birthday and then again with my sisters side of the family on Tuesday the same girl served us Maya I think her name was she is new to the business and did extremely well for her first week. Need more staff like her who is engaging with customers and is able to work but have fun with her peers. Well done Maya!! ❤️

The pub has recently been renovated to great effect. It has retained its local pub charm but is now far warmer and welcoming. Great drinks selection, food is always good and hearty portions, staff are always friendly. Best pub in shenfield by a distance

Relaxed and chilled sitting outside, cold beer on a hot day

Really good pub, good selection of real ales. Numerous TV screens. Went there to watch the rugby, they even gave out some free sandwiches during the game, nice touch.

Visited this pub for only the 2nd time ever, 1st visit was probably 5 or so years ago. Was nothing to recommend it then. Under new management apparently, and a pool table and fruit machine have arrived, though the pool cue was totally knackered, its a start. Toilets were fine. Friendly barman, super expensive pint, i imagine I'll return though, progress has been made

Tired interior, unfriendly staff food not available on a Friday lunchtime. I try to like this place but it's not making it easy. Go inside and you are in a timewarp of dated interior. Handful of people and the explanation is simple. Hope the new management are in the process of overhaul as it just seems to be stagnant. Beer is priced same as other local pubs which means there is no reason to visit on that account. If you want a quiet place for a pint then this will fit the bill and for that it is recommended but it will not be to everyone's taste... Great response...I rest my case!!

Nice old pub, unpretentious, dining area set away from saloon so you still feel you're in a pub and not a glorified restaurant.

We went for a late lunch to this pub. We were the only family in the family sitting area although the pub area was quite full up. Consequently it took about 29 minutes before we saw any food after we had ordered! And then too a part of order was missed which I had to follow up a few times on. The staff was great and friendly and the food was very nice but guys you really must work on your service please. Towards the end I had give up on any hope of table service and was simply going to the bar to get things done. Great ambience, friendly staff and good food though.

This is a traditional pub - good beer, friendly staff, loyal clientele and lovely food. Perfect for Shenfield.
