The Golden Fleece in Brentwood

The food would be unimpressive in a school canteen - super dry chicken, frozen veg and oven chips. The building is also pretty shabby and needs some TLC. However, the staff were lovely and salvaged it from being a one star review.

Jane made me feel and my autistic son feel very welcome nothing was to much trouble for her or her staff they went above and beyond to make sure our visit was a pleasant experience would highly recommend this place food spot on so was the service thank you Jane

Popped in the Golden Fleece harvester for a catch up lunch with my friend and her baby, the staff were amazing especially towards my friends baby constantly making sure we had everything we need great restaurant with amazing staff

We went on a very busy Sunday afternoon and was so pleasantly surprised with the service. All the staff were friendly accommodating to myself, my wife and our young daughter but I must give a special mention to Ash our waitress. I watched her deal with a packed restaurant and still bring so much energy and enthusiasm to every interaction she had with us and all the other patrons. She seemed genuinely happy to serve and this was under conditions that I would have forgiven anyone serving staff for cracking under. I take my hat off. She's a real professional 👏.

Friendly, caters for Gluten free and vegan . Lovely staff very helpful. Parking is free but remember to give staff your vehicle numbers. Food - ohh so yummy 🙂 Shout out to Kye ,Chef n other staff for lovely experience n amazing food . Especially after parkrun on a cold day. Thanks so much 😊

Had high expectations for dinner this evening but was once more extremely disappointed by the quality of the food served. We had the 1983 combo was very lackluster in presentation and in flavour and content. Starting with the dried up pigeon sized half chicken that must have been roasting for more than 24hrs the ribs were from a tiny animal im not sure exists with zero flavour and tasted off. Chips were that dry/crusty and over cooked and tasted of dirty oil... Best thing was the salad bar..that's saying something. Flat old glass stella even after it was changed. Staff however were fantastic 👏 and extremely freindly and sympathetic to our dining needs. Subsequently was offered one meal free as an apology which was mediocre in the grand scheme of our experience at this particular harvester branch. Will never go back.

First time at a Harvester for a long time, left disappointed 3 of us left the frys on our plates, too dry and hard, l didn't think it was good value for money

Absolutely amazing service every time we come with our supported individuals we are all treated with such respect and kindness and staff make the upmost effort to include them in the experience and make us all feel at ease. So helpful and accommodating and have never once had an issue there and we will always be a returning customer as it’s not often we have such good experiences out in restaurants. Massive Well done and thank you to all the staff at the harvester!

The veg served with the main meals appeared to have been cooked a few hours before serving and had been kept hot for a while and was rather unpalletable, but the rest of the food with the meals was nice. Friendly and cheerful waitress.

Come in tonight for dinner , from start to finish had the best meal we have had, as a family, for years! We were served by a young man who said it was his first day! If I remember rightly his name was Jack. What an asset. Thank you harvester

Having been let down by a different restaurant, I booked The Golden Fleece for a Boxing Day meal at the end of a long journey from Devon. The welcome was warm. The staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. Thank you all for a lovely evening.

We came for Christmas dinner here yesterday with our little boy. I was really pleasantly surprised. Food was great, our waitress was so attentive despite being so busy and checked in on us regularly. We have never been to this harvester before but will be returning as we had such good service. We had a wonderful, smooth Christmas dinner with zero issues so thank you very much

We had Christmas dinner here. The starter was really nice, the main was nice, but the roast potatoes tasted ready made frozen ones. The ice-cream was partially already melted, and was a bit of a let down, and tasteless even with the chocolate and biscuits in it. We were rushed with our food having all 3 courses served within an hour! We felt rushed at each course. When the young man came over and took our plates, I was still finishing off my starter and he said ‘are you finished’. It felt more of a direction than a genuine question. Upside, staff are polite (though the young man was rushing), nice friendly atmosphere. We managed to get a table booked only the day before, I can see why now as they seemed to be just rushing people through. We were also put on a very small table, although only 2 of us, it still felt a squeeze and a staff chat was held right next to us at one point with a butt literally to my right 😆. I wouldn’t spend all that money to have Christmas dinner there again, but I would go back for lunch or the like in a normal day. Overall experience for a special day, 6/10.

Good food & serve yourself at the salad bar friendy staff

We had a table booked for 10 people but was moved to a different table, we was served by Lowri (who was new to the team), despite the table changes and being caught slightly off-guard - she was excellent. She provided us with an excellent and quick service ensuring we had what we needed quickly to make it easier with the children. Despite the children playing etc, she kept calm and collected whilst waiting the table. She ensured the kids meals came out quick and went on her break, but she was kind enough to come and inform us that she was handing the table to someone else. Food as always was on point and a great experience all round!

Visited the restaurant with my Mum and Dad. Food was very nice. Table booked for slightly later but managed to be seated before time which was great. Great Menu to choose from. Very good at clearing plates & salad bar was filled up. Thank you Jane and staff for the experience.

Food was great, staff (especially the manager, Jane) were better. Helpful, polite and attentative. Have been here before and will most definitely come back. We were a big group to deal with and they accommodated us brilliantly.

We come today with a group of us, only negative was the restaurant was very very hot to the point some of us were feeling sick especially the toilets it felt like a sauna. Our server Lowri was very helpful, she was nice and made us feel happy being here. Deserves some sort of pay raise or something! Thanks so much x

Absolutely amazing service! We were a huge group so we were placed upstairs and thought we'd be forgotten but it was the complete opposite! The staff were so helpful and lovely!

The food was good. Vicki and Jane the manager were excellent. My friend had a seizure and we couldn't have asked for better support. Before that , Vicki was still so professional and bubbly. They were all working so hard. Please please let them know you've received this and thank them as I think you are very lucky to have them.

Had a lovely meal. Staff was very pleasant.

No one behind bar or at front desk on arrival so waiting around for 10 mins. Once seated waitress was very helpful but seemed to be the only one working whilst others were sitting around. Ordered a mixed grill that come out in a reasonable time however most of it was over cooked to the point of the sausages made a cracking sound when cut. Obvious that these had not been cooked from fresh. It's a shame because the restaurant is in a lovely building but just needs a bit more love from the kitchen and more attention to front of house

Me and wifey absolutely love this place it’s our little break from the every day norm with four adult kids and 12 grandkids so every now and then we book a meal at the Golden Fleece harvester the staff are always friends food is delicious and it’s a nice relaxing event will continue going back here always and finish with a nice Irish coffee and a latte before going back to the norm

Was very nice. We booked a table but it wasn't very busy at the time. We went for 3pm. The food was ok. Service was great, our waitress was lovely and very helpful. There used to be a different menu for lunch time but they don't give that as an option when you get there. Make sure you down load the app and you will find a code for them to scan and it will give you the lunch options. You can also collect stars for your visits which gives you free meals. I hope this helps people as its hard this way for the elderly people. Please ask the waitress for help if you need it 🙏

Us Pilates ladies come to the Harvester every Friday for coffee. All the staff are so lovely and accommodating. Today we were served by Aga. Perfect service 😊

Even though food took a while due to short staff of chefs, cant fault the service we received from Kai. He kept checking we were ok and if we wanted anymore drinks, and kept apologising for the wait, and kept us updated. He is a credit to your restaurant. When the food arrived, it was hot and spot on. We had a lovely evening celebrating my Mums birthday.

A delightful rustic old building with low ceilings wooden beams and a bit of history on each wall. Harvester wasn't busy on this evening, we had good food and a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy. A nice visit with plenty of parking space.

This is our local but visiting tonight Vicki our waiter hands down went above and beyond. Being short staffed she handled all tables seamlessly and it was great to see that everyone stepped in and helped where possible. Great staff, great restaurant!!

We were a family of 6 adults and 2 children, I had decided to book a table for dinner last minute and had found it almost impossible but fortunately The Golden Fleece were able to accommodate us. We were not disappointed, the staff were attentive and patient while we all decided on our food. There was an extensive choice on the menu and I feel the childrens menu is the best I have seen for a while, the food arrived hot and as ordered. The salad bar was well stocked and regularly restocked. We had a lovely chilled evening and we're not rushed through spending just short of 3 hours in the restaurant. Thanks to all the staff at the Golden Fleece and we will definately be returning in the future

Nice breakfast 😋 Friendly helpful staff. Old colleagues meet every few months and seating for up to 10 is easy for early food. There is a good choice for breakfast, which it isn't over priced.
