Seems like an alright place but not very cozy. Staff were lovely but quite pricey. Not bad if you want a quick one out of the station but probably wouldn't spend all night down there. Could do with a bit of colour on the walls to make it nicer

Absolutely the best staff you'll find in a drinking establishment Atmosphere from the friendly locals just make it the nicest place I've drunk a beer! Watch out for the odd ginger fella Ian tho!

If you like West Ham football club and name brand beers and getting rowdy from 12 on a Sunday this is the place for you. No food just crisps. Heineken, Guinness and that on tap. Pictures worth 1,000 words.

Superb public house !! Fantastic atmosphere, and the staff are brilliant!!! Love visiting the railway at least 2/3 times a week now , the landlord “terry “ is outstanding in customer service .

Quick pint after work. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Loads of outdoor garden space and the football on the many tv's inside. Think it's only the second time I've come here in 10 years of working nearby but can't be drinking and driving.

First time I've been in the Railway, and despite it being quite a Male oriented pub I felt very comfortable and very welcome. Bar staff on the ball and very attentive. There was a group of 5 of us and we had such a relaxed fun afternoon we have decided to meet there regularly.

Good selection of railway relics but only 1 ale thats why 3 stars

Good place for a pint friendly people

I use to live in the village and was a regular customer of this pub. I was passing tonight so thought I would pop in for a pint and do some reminiscing. Walked in at 8pm and was told they were shutting? I figured there must be an emergency or something but when I asked who I presumed was the landlady she said she had to get up early ! I appreciate the locals may know about this practise but you have no chance of drumming up passing trade if you are shut!

Popped in here with work colleagues before a work meal, appreciate it was a Friday at 1830hrs but very noisy, fortunately found a dinning area (kitchen closed no food service) which was better and we could hold a conversation. Only 2 Ales on tap bog standard Directors and Ipa, obliviously a 'lager' boozer! Directors off like drinking vinegar they did pull 3 pints but no improvement, Tried IPa wished I had not, went onto shorts, 45mins and £55.00 later, an experience, we did not fit! What a waste of time and money, we all Thurrock lads will not be returning,

I do not live in the village and to be fair I don’t write many reviews but felt that I needed to. I have visited the pub a number of times with friends and family. Each experience has been great, the people are welcoming, chatty and friendly. The pub used to do food however is currently under refurbishment. It is looking great and I understand with chats with the landlady that it is going to be much more comfortable than it already is. They accommodate all sports and have sooo many tv’s you do not know where to look, even fitted one in the beer garden to the rear. They welcome dogs and children and even have their own bouncy castle that they set up in the beer garden to entertain the little ones. I have been their when they’ve had bbq’s, I attach a piccie of one of their dogs (he’s lovely). The landlady is awesome, so down to earth always of a happy disposition and so accommodating. The locals really know how to enjoy themselves and get everyone involved ensuring you have a great time, I have experienced this on New Years Eve -two years on the trot. Never experienced any trouble, which makes a change from other pubs. Keep up the good work people, I’ll see you all again soon for some more fun times.

Great local pub to have drinks. I went with a friend and we enjoyed sitting outside in the well kept garden. Nice and friendly atmosphere.

Spent many nights watching sporting events in this pub. Really good night's good atmosphere. Location next to train station.

Usual country pub from the outside, a bit shabby looking... Drinks are ‘London prices’, landlady is passive aggressive and seemed to be drunk and shrieking at various people! Barman serving was rude, inefficient and actually commented that he didn’t like people and every glass in our 6 drink round was dirty (lipstick marks, water marks etc) Would suggest it is very much a ‘locals’ pub would avoid where possible

Had an excellent Sunday lunch here. Generous portions on both adults and children's menu. Unfortunately no room for dessert on this occasion but will be back. I think the lady who served us was Mel and she was really nice. The other lady who was blonde was very welcoming too.

John and Sue have made The Railway Hotel the best pub for miles. They are friendly and accommodating. The lines are cleaned regularly, my boyfriend assures me that it's a superb pint. The staff are smiley and helpful. The locals are good fun and decent. The food is excellent, especially fish Friday and Sunday roast. This is what a village pub is about. Well done and keep up the good work.

New owners took over this pub about a year or so ago now. Since then they have massively overhauled it. Lovely interior with an amazing array of railway memorabilia, great bear garden out the back and a good selection of drinks. Food is served for lunch and dinner - basic menu but decent quality. And there are cycle parks out the front now, so anyone fancying a pint and sarnie on a cycle ride is well accommodated here. Friendly staff too.
