Lovely meal. Good service nice friendly welcome and staff. Balanced menu. Restuarent was nice and busy which is a good sign. We have visited this pub several times before over many years and always been happy with our meals. Lovely authentic pub.

Food was exceptional once again and the fellow customers were fantastic with their comedy. Tasha and James behind the bar excelled in their promptness and professionalism. I opted for the Chicken on the specials menu and it was superb. Will definitely be having food from their specials again.

Absolutely lovely day here at The Boars Head Herongate Essex, have been once before and this second visit experience has had no fault, great service, food ordered and came out perfect , staff always smile, Natasha serving was lovely and she made our day enjoyable. I did say we would come back after last visit , and we are all glad we did .

Visited the Boars Head on Saturday Evening for a cosy dinner with my husband and was not disappointed. Staff very friendly and welcoming especially the dark haired lady (sadly did not get her name), who I think was the Manager. Very attentive without being pusy. Changed their menu from when we had last visited, plenty of variety and catered for all. Used to visit this pub as a small girl with my parents so have a soft spot for it. Please do not change as this is a lovely gem of a pub. Thank you.

Came into the pub today and was very hungry so Natasha sold me the specials menu, it was amazing. The Pulled chicken croquettes and sausage rolls were an amazing side dish with my wine!

We dropped in for an evening meal. We hadn't pre booked a table. The place was very busy for a Wednesday evening, but the two girls waitressing in the restaurant were working hard despite being under pressure, and they were polite and friendly, quickly finding us a table. The food and drink was all REALLY nice BUT I felt I had to bring up to them what proved to be discrepancies in their printed menus. My wife had salmon which the MENU said came with 'Hassleback Potatoes'. Hassleback potatoes are potatoes with ridges sliced into them filled with garlic butter or similar. What she GOT was halves of baby new potatoes which may or may not have been roasted. They were nice, but not what was shown on the menu when ordering. I ordered the pork which was shown as coming with 'spinach bubble & squeak', spring greens, and crispy cracking. When it arrived, it came with no crackling, ordinary cabbage, and just plain mashed potato. I mentioned this to the waitress who said "Would you like some more bubble & squeak?" When I replied that I didn't have ANY yet, she immediately went out to get me some. When it arrived, it was just another portion of the mashed potato with a couple of spinach leaves stirred in! lol We then ordered two ice cream sundaes which were made from a variety of items, INCLUDING (according to the menu) chocolate ice cream which I really fancied. When they arrived, NEITHER had any sign of chocolate ice cream in them. Despite the fact I was feeling like a right old grump by now, I mentioned this lack of chocolate ice cream to the waitress too. She said "Sorry about that. I've let them know in the kitchen." and then brought us a bill for the full price of everything we'd had anyway!! As I said, there was nothing wrong with the food we had, but I am a great believer in that when ordering you should get what is described on the menu - after all, it's upon that description that we decide what we want to eat and pay for. If there's a reason why they can't provide it, that should surely be explained to us up front before bring incomplete meals or substituted items to the table? Anyhow, that's enough grumping by me. Overall, a nice place, and the staff and food is okay, but not getting exactly what we were promised sort of tarnished our visit a little...

Very disappointed the food was very below standard. They have changed the whole menu and the share board that we so enjoyed before was very poor this time -but we hoped the mains would be better . How wrong we were . Items were missing, empty jugs , bread missing the quality of one meal in particular was appaling . The only decent part of the whole dinner was the drinks . Such a shame used to be really nice & ruined a nice celebration as we all left feeling very disappointed and £100 lighter for the so called pleasure .Really wish we had taken photos

Went for lunch with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. we all had different mains and desserts, and all very tasty. The staff both Elise and Natasha were very good and efficient, and the pub has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was well cooked and plentiful, and good value for money. We have been there before and will certainly return in the future.

Booked a table accidentally for two went to amend on the site through email as by phone could not speak to anyone. Sent message stating needed for 3 people. Got to the pub and was turned away. Don’t bother messaging them as they never read the messages!!!

Crab avocado,very small and expensive,I had cod and chips,and I'm afraid the fish was to much oil on it,so when u lift it up,it was wet and soggy,for the money I expect better,also felt we was being rushed out as hardly anyone left,yet was only 9.30 ,won't be going back 😞

Christ eve walk in without a booking. Great friendly welcoming service, lovely well cooked food for a reasonable price and the atmosphere was also vibrant, plus the decor was good and very comfortable. We will be returning. Highly recommended.

A very disappointing lunch. The roast dinner was very poor. Frozen roast potatoes that were not cook through and where off white in colour ( not the crispy roast potatoes mentioned on the menu) and frozen veg. Not somewhere I would recommend.

A Saturday pub lunch, last Saturday, for early celebration of one of my sister's birthday. I telephoned ahead to check for reserving a table, though, I don't go much on their automated bot system (I asked to, "speak to a person", and got through to a human being), only to check about their offerings for Gluten Free (GF), as this was not very clear on their website. But the lady I spoke to was very helpful and put me at ease with my GF requirements. Then asked if I would like to book a table, which I did and she was able to fit us in. The ambience inside the pub and restaurant, was wonderful, welcoming and friendly. We got there at a good time, as it was not busy when we sat down, but started getting busier, when we were eating. The waitress was helpful, friendly and chatty and the food was cooked and served up quite quickly - well, it was for us. The food photo uploaded was on my sister's meal. The photo of my GF burger, with a beautiful side salad, came out blurry and I couldn't wait to start eating. Well, as a Coeliac, I was apprehensive, but, their GF burger in a toasted bun, with an additional side salad, was gorgeous. Myself and sisters would have no hesitation in booking another table and meal, in the near future.

Just returned home from a meal with my family. We all said it was the best meal we have had, it was excellent and the service was surperb, highly rcommend a visit. They also take Tesco vouchers which is a bonus. Compliments to the chef and staff👍 18.11.23

We had breakfast here last weekend and it was fantastic. Great service and the menu had a good range of options to suit all appetites/tastes. There was a good kids menu too with plenty of choice to keep them happy! We often go out for breakfast at the weekend and this place is definitely going to be added to the list. Unfortunately it was really empty so I hope more people realise they serve breakfast here as it’s definitely worth a visit!

Great meal in a pleasant atmosphere

The whole experience was spoiled by the manager repeatedly trying to insist we should pay for a more expensive second glass of wine when my wife had very clearly ordered the same wine as in the first glass. Apparently she should have gone in search...

I think that a lack of staff was the overall problem. Food was OK (very nice starters) ( Dessert was wrong but quickly changed. Part of the other dessert was missing but again resolved) Drink was forgotten. Only 2 servers with. one man very busy...

Food was good but coupled with the service overpriced . I spent £65 for 2 people,on food and soft drinks but felt left wanting . Staff need to be a bit more attentive and less put out . On a final note , I asked for a pint of soda and lime and when it came up in a regular tumbler , I pointed out it wasn’t a pint . The disinterested server then replied “ it’s the biggest glass we’ve got “ in a pub ???! .

Absolutely great find. The food was outstanding, so tasty, fresh and completely home made, not skimpy on portion size. Really couldn't fault it. The staff were so pleasant and the surroundings were lovely. If you're in the area or have to take a little ride to get there, you wont be disappointed!

Went for a Sunday roast food was absolutely terrible, bland, dry, flavourless quite frankly wouldn’t feed my dog this food. Staff are careless and management are rude. We won’t be returning and I will be spreading the word to others not to return.

Did love this place until they went cashless,now we won't go back as they have taken away our rights and choices to use LEGAL tender...I'm disgusted!!!

Building beautiful, sells alcohol, food very hit and miss on this visit. Three attempts to get a farmers breakfast right, microwaved pancakes which I am now using for clay pigeon shooting. Overall great for a beer but I won’t be exploring the menu any further

The restaurant was very nice, the food was excellent, enjoyed very much. Food Prices reasonable. The bar prices I found extortionate. Pint lager shandy,pint bitter, 2 rose wine spritzers. £32. The meal for 4 with 2 drinks was £65 This just doesn’t add up.

We have been frequenting the Boars Head for years. Now it's another card only corporate bar . Which I won't be using. Some people still like to use the British Pound as legal payment

Had lunch yesterday ordered the Korean chicken tasteless very small portion for the money . My friend had peas that were definitely days old disgusting. Pancakes served with the Eaton mess were cold and dry very disappointed . Too expensive for substandard quality. Plenty of pubs charging the same price but better food . Need to change the chef I think

It was okay. The service was nice enough, if a little scripted. The food was pretty poor though :( We had a Sunday roast and it was just bland. Not much flavour. I had a burnt Yorkshire pudding too :( I've been here a lot over the years, I even used to work here a long long time ago, and the food was a real disappointment, if I'm honest. Also, they've got major water problems. The ceiling was dripping water, and I had to kneel on the floor and my knee came up soaked! Need to fix that, it smells a little of damp if you're sensitive to that!

Had a great meal last night at our favourite venue. After celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at the weekend we had our very first complete family meal together, and as usual food was perfect and service excellent. We were very lucky that they could accommodate all fourteen of us at such short notice, we booked on Sunday evening for Monday at 5.15 pm.thank you for a lovely experience. Diane Murphy

Very disappointed as we came for a meal and ordered roast dinners which normally we have no problems with The food came out and all the vegetables were ‘stale’ is the only way I could describe it and also very undercooked potatoes Asked a member of staff for a replacement on the vegetables and I apologised as I knew they were very busy to which a member of staff replied ‘yes we are busy’ in such a rude manner and walked away Forward it to half an hour later, still no one had came back or even acknowledged us, felt like we was getting completely ignored the whole time When it came round to paying the bill we was still getting ignored by the staff members who obviously knew we was waiting to pay Therefore our table just stood up and walked away from the table to when a member of staff stopped us and asked ‘have you paid’ So in my eyes, in order to pay your bill, you have to get up and walk off to actually get a member of staffs attention Very disappointed in the food as well as the customer service

A real shame as this used to be one of my favourites in Brentwood for pub food but this has changed as now it's slow service and uncooked food. Plus some staff have no people skills and no time for you a real shame, won't be coming back here anytime soon One tip -Employe more staff

I love the pub but the staff are rude they have no customer service at all. I arrived at 3pm and went to the bar got some drinks and asked if we could order food within a hour. They responded yes. After 45 minutes we went inside they neglected what they had said and said you can order in 45 minutes After 45 minutes we went inside and they said only bookings. I questioned them asking why they never informed us at first? They were rude! Started speaking while walking and never came to our table! Avoid this place if you can as you will be disappointed!
