The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

The waiting staff, in particular the manager who worked on Bank holiday Monday 26/05, need further training. We had an appauling time. Customers had to share menu booklets between tables! We had to get our own cuttlery for dessert!! and then we were chased down and shouted at in the car park for a bill that was already paid!!! The managers poor apology included 'my bad'. If I hadnt been there, my parents, who are in their 80's, would have paid again out of embarrasment at being called thieves. WE WILL NEVER RETURN

What a lovely afternoon we had, the food was just divine. The service was amazing and attentive, the drinks were served as they should be with TLC!!!

This is our favourite pub when we visit the area . The food is top grade, and the atmosphere and feel to the place, very welcoming. If you in the area, you must stop and try.. if your lucky, they will have the steak and cheese pie on the special

As soon as we entered the pizzeria, Andrea welcomed us. He explained the specials of the day and how the dough is light and easily digestible made by Chef Aldo The pizzas were amazing, soft and crunchy and the toppings exceptional. We will come back to try other pizzas and much more. You can feel the passion of Aldo in every bite and thats a big plus for me. One of the best pizzerias in Essex for sure 😁🍕

First visit here for quite some time. Very extensive menu, with wide range of different dishes at very reasonable prices. I had the creamy garlic mushroom linguine, with the optional chicken and bacon (10/10), and my wife had the beef and ale pie (8/10). But all in all, very impressed and will definitely come back again. Tuesday night, so fairly quiet, and no issues with getting a table.

Maybe the best pub food we've ever had, and the beer is also top notch. Staff are friendly and the landlord clearly knows his stuff. We'll be back!

my friend and i really enjoyed our lunch at the white horse earlier this week. the pub has a nice atmosphere as staff are friendly and the food was great. we definitely recommend, especially the pork burger that both my friend and i ordered and agreed it was delicious

Went for Sunday lunch as a party of seven. Very disappointed, the meat was lovely, but everything else on the plate was not. The stuffed Yorkshire pudding was very soggy, I like beetroot, but not half a one with my dinner, all the other vegetables had issues and the gravy was awful, and apart from the roast potatoes the meal was just warm. Some of our party had the Fish and Chips the fish batter was awful and not very nice to eat. As a result we won’t be returning nor recommending…

Wonderful walk, followed by this quiet, peaceful place with delicious food. Would recommend if in the area.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere

Be warned. 1) No Dogs Allowed. 2) The other reviews of the owner/landlord being rude are true. I don't normally write reviews unless positive but this guy was next level abrupt. No website nor board outside saying "no dogs". The Welcome is definitely not warm as the board does state.

Great food, awesome service and the setting in the garden is absolutely fantastic. It gives the holiday lounge vibes chilling there in the garden. I highly recommend the family friendly pub.

Beautiful cute room with loads of tea and coffee in the room provided. The owners were lovely, and they provided a wonderful service. The pub had a live-in dog that was so friendly he came and said hello in his own way. I had to mention the dog as I'm usually nervous around dogs, but this dog was special. The location is out of the way, but there is public transport to the hotel and me and partner had travelled from Basildon all the way by bus but be mindful that the bus does not run on a Sunday. I would definitely stay again 💯

Lovely little public house, and relaxing atmosphere. Came here for a few drinks with friends and all had a lovely time
