Superb food, atmosphere and service. The menu was small but everything looked delicious. I had the steak which was done to perfection. Ellie, our waitress, was fast and efficient but still very friendly. Excellent. Would recommend to all.

We were told about the red lion so we tried it Friday 31/5/24,Unfortunately there were no steak or mushroom starters available. The atmosphere was loud from the bar, it was accepted. Unfortunately our table was near the toilets, everyone viewed us/food as they passed by. We ordered fish & Chips the fish was fresh 9/10, the chips 2/10. Like potato jacket wedges. We also had chicken stack this was rated 7/10. Too much salad on the plate. Friendly waitress 8.5/10 Sticky toffee pudding 7/10 it was stodgy. overall evening 7. We won’t be returning.

Just enjoyed a smashing evening at The Red Lion. Our waitress, Ellie, was very attentive. We three enjoyed our meals of gammon, liver & vegetarian sizzler and a scrumptious list of desserts too! There were plenty of 0 alcohol lagers to choose from for us drivers. The place was busy with a good atmosphere. And finally, the bill was pleasantly competitive. We very much recommend, but please more vegetarian options on the menu!

The Red Lion is a beautiful, characterful building facing onto a pretty little green. The Lions sitting outside the entrance are very smart and justifiably proud. It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside the front and enjoyed the peaceful, idyllic view. There is also a tidy and pretty beer garden at the back of the building. We ordered food from a menu that although not extensive was very reasonably priced and with good choices. Our food was all excellently presented, with well dressed, fresh side salad and skin on chips. The Honey Chicken Stack was cooked very well and the Gammon and Eggs were too. The ladies serving drinks and food both created a welcoming and pleasant lunchtime experience. Thank you.

I have been to the Red Lion many times in the past and always had great vegetarian meals. I particularly remember having veggie fish and chips which was battered banana flowers and they were amazing. I knew the pub had changed hands towards the end of last year but would never have imagined what a complete contrast the menu is now. It is very limited for anyone with not a huge amount of choice but not a single vegetarian meal on the menu for the main course. I ended up asking them for egg and chips but when it came the eggs were overcooked underneath as they were brown and crispy, which I detest, but the white around the hills was still clear. I wasn't desperate enough to eat raw eggs!! I complained and revealed they wouldn't charge me for the meal which was basically a few chips. One of my friends had scampi but instead of being golden in colour they were dark brown. She said they were tough and had either been overcooked or cooked twice and she couldn't eat them. The serving staff were nice enough but after our plates were cleared we were not offered a dessert menu. We thought someone might come back but they never did. We decided to give up and just have a coffee but we had to go to the bar to order them. We couldn't believe how it has gone downhill so much. Absolutely dreadful now and with not a single vegetarian opinion the menu. There was only one vegan option too. A lot of places don't realise vegetarians don't like vegan food!! Will not be going again or recommending to anyone. Quite the opposite.

Slow service. Limited menu. ☹️ food was edible nothing to entice us back for more. Staff failed to ask if we needed any additional drinks or sauces. We had to ask for ketchup vinegar bbq sauce etc it arrived 5 minutes into eating our food. Very poor when it could have been ordered before our food arrived. It was hard work ordering drinks when we just wanted same round again. Waitress had to use PDA and it took her a long time. Only had 2 drinks when we normally would have had 4 with our meal. Shame staff let this lovely pub down with poor management. No atmosphere left feeling like we had been disappointed ☹️.

Had the Liver & Bacon as you don’t see that on menus nowadays- it was great and the vegetable selection on the side really lifted it to a more modern dish - great flavours. (Courgettes , green beans and peppers) had sticky toffee pudding for desert which was so nice I ate it all but should’ve only eaten half the size. We’d share a desert next time. My husband had the gammon egg and chips and really enjoyed it. Same desert and same comment.

I've been here several times and the latest time was hopefully the last (unfortunately). Visually, it's what's you'd expect...A local pub with a traditional feel. Nice looking. My family and I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was absolutely rammed. I appreciate it's popular with the locals but the pub have been so keen on fitting in as many people it's resulted in poor service... 1) I ordered the mushroom burger. It came out quickly but it was cold and they'd forgotten to add cheese. I raised this but had to dismantle the burger in order for the waitress to believe me. Finally agreeing that they'd forgotten to add any, the waitress took the burger back but brought out a plate with two slices of cold cheese on 😂😭 2) My partner and I kept on having to get up during our meal because the tables were crammed in so tightly. 3) We'd booked the table but we were turfed out and had to scoff our deserts because they'd promised the table to another customer. Pretty poor really. Service poor. Food and atmosphere unexceptional.

I spotted a recommendation for this pub and it’s Sunday lunch, a while back, we decided to give it a try and, we were so glad we did, great food and better service was afforded all a great price, the server on the carvery was super polite and professional, 10/10 all round, since that day it’s been taken over and us at least, it’s been a seamless transition, we’ve been back numerous times and lately, seem to end up there every Sunday :@) it’s super easy to book a table on line and they’re doggy friendly too which is just the icing on the cake. Ease Of Booking 10/10 Staff 10/10 Food 10/10 Pricing 11/10 All in all, unbeatable in my opinion.

I've been to the Red Lion many times since Jake and Lindsay and took over, and have not been disappointed once. The draught beer is cold every time and they have plenty of options. They had a few oktoberfest beers that were really good. It was exciting to have a bigger selection for that time. The food is well- prepared, cooked, and served. The soup is always piping hot, but not too hot! Their tagliatelle dish is to die for. I've even given a chance to some of their vegetarian options although I'm not vegetarian myself and they were delicious! The menu has options for everyone, even the kiddos, without being over or underwhelming. Dessert is a must at this pub! Their sticky toffee pudding MELTS in your mouth. The staff are always warm and welcoming and ready to accommodate. The wait staff are friendly and keep themselves available to customers throughout their meals. The bar staff are friendly and entertaining. I usually show go alone but having someone to chat to whilst I drink my pint is a treat! I will go back time and time again! Highly recommended!

Despite there being only 1 vegatarian option on the menu it was delicious! The sun dried tomato tagliatelle was really lovely. Lots of beautiful sun dried tomatoes in a very generous portion of creamy pasta with tasty garlic bread. The sticky toffee pudding was absolutely lush and the best part was the big portion size with lashings of cream/custard or ice cream! It was fairly quiet when we visited (Wednesday night) but that didn't bother me. The staff are friendly and keen to offer a good service. If there were more vegatarian and vegan options on the menu (to the same good quality taste as the one i ordered) then I would be a regular for sure! We had a group Christmas dinner. The place was very well presented and very well organised. The food was very good, even the roast potatoes were crunchy/fluffy, probably the best I've had with such a mass meal. Loads of veg and gravy and choice of meats, which were good quality and plentiful. The staff were wonderful and offered help to those who needed it. There are some steep steps from restaurant to the serving area which are awkward, especially with a heavily laden plate! As stated, the staff were there to help and I'm sure the pub would do what they could to accommodate for any disabilities, just ask. A very nice experience and would visit again.

Really pretty pub, especially with the Christmas lights up. Lovely inside, excellent service, staff friendly and attentive. I had the carvery, choosing roast pork which was excellent, large choice of sides to pick from. If I had to find one criticism it would be that we were seated at a central table which meant constant foot traffic closely past my seat both sides and behind me whilst I was eating which I personally found uncomfortable so would specify a side table on future visits.

Originally booking the table was ok, called to check on something and the woman was very sharp almost rude. On the day we arrived on time, was greeted with 'you have to be gone by 2', we hadn't even sat down ! We were amongst the first to get there, but others were being told to go to the carvery, when we asked to go they said 'well we thought the others could go first as there's more of you', ridiculous reasoning, but eventually we 'allowed' to go. Vegetables were lovely, but the gammon was so salty it was inedible. The beef and pork were good, the chef was very friendly and helpful despite being on his own. Another staff member was very helpful as there were 2 steep steps down to the carvery and I have mobility issues, so she took my lunch to the table, for which I was grateful. Overall it was our first visit, but you don't expect or want to be talked to rudely or nastily when you haven't done anything, with snide comments. It was only one older lady, the others were nice, but it isn't nice to be spoken to that way. I personally won't go again, because of that, I want to be welcomed and appreciated for spending my money at their restaurant, not to be made uncomfortable or talked to like that.

We were allocated rooms 8 and 10. Clean room although very basic. Tea/coffee facilities, TV, great shower facility. Slept comfortably. Friendly barstaff and pleasant pub but VERY expensive beer (£12.6
