Room 8 one night stay this week with work. Very tired room. Shower OK but bathroom needed some TLC. Had the appearance of having had serious plumbing work and wooden covers had been put back on by someone with 2 left hands. Needed paint. Bed was comfortable but could feel the fabric conditioner (possibly use something more gentle?) Would i return. Of course! Positive: Despite being a serious pub it was very quiet upstairs.

Poor service. Still no ice after at least 4 weeks. This week, no Bacardi, despite, according to the manager, they can purchase from anywhere. Shame as it's a nice location, just can't seem to get customer service right.

Went as a group of six, no ice (not had for approx 4weeks) told machine broken !! No Bacardi We were astonished that apparently out of ties with brewery but still cannot supply. We were told on 3 accounts by the manager happily sitting at the end of other side of bar to leave if we didn’t like it. Think he needs to have training in hospitality

We have been coming to Hunstanton for absolute years and this is the 1st time we have stayed here at the Wash & Tope! The rooms are a little run down and could do with some smartening up and leveling up as everything was on the slant! Whilst this makes for a small amount of characteristics it didn't make for a good night sleep! (Room 5) We did enjoy our stay with you and would without a doubt return to you if we was to get a level room🤣 but all that aside Your staff are absolutely lovely, very friendly and smiley was always happy for a little chat!

The room was much too small (about 10 square meters), only one bed fit in and behind it was the bathroom. Cozy is something else. Light was linked to the bedroom because there was no light switch or socket in the bathroom. Window could only be opened a crack, mold in the shower tray, no hairdryer, not even upon request, mattresses completely worn out. Definitely disappointing.Mini emergency sink in the bathroom. The only bright spot is a large parking lot in front of the door and the sea behind it.

Friendly barstaff and pleasant pub but VERY expensive beer (£12.60 for 2 pints!) No designated carpark but we managed to park right outside the pub on the main road. All in all “great value for the cost” and we would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We blew into the Wash & Tope during a blustery August day and it was a nice surprise. The pub part of the hotel has a cosy feel with a range of table heights and a pool table too. They welcome all wooflies. The staff were attentive and respectful, the food was fantastic. A good range of pub grub on the menu and even the teenager was impressed. Everything was homemade and wasn’t overly expensive. A great place for lunch!

Booked a last minute getaway for a few days as we were visiting family in the area. We weren't expecting much given the price and some of the reviews but we were very pleased with our room. It was clean, had a fantastic sea view and had everything we needed. We were a bit annoyed that the first thing the staff member told us at check in was that booking.com hadn't taken payment for our dog so that was an extra 30 quid. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Now the not so good. The place is so noisy. I know it's on a main road but that's not a problem. The bar across the road plays music until late, that's understandable. The main issue is the absolute idiot people who are staying there that slam doors all night. Not the hotels fault but it would certainly make me think twice about staying again....

Booked this property via Booking.com. When we arrive we weee told our room had a fault and we had to have a smaller room. We could not shower the first morning as no hot water The second morning we went to breakfast - serial bowl had cereal still stuck to it. Then we noticed the sauce on the table was a year out of date ( report going to food hygiene agency) The Manager gave us the normal lip service saying we will get a full refund. After spending 7 hrs on different call to Booking.com I still have no refund. They say the wash and top has my money while the wash and tope say Booking.com has my money. They obviously dont communicate Booking number 4368794792 11/08/24 I will write a different review every week until either Booking.com or The wash and tope refund my money The customer service I have received is as bad as it gets

Lovely little "dog friendly" pub 🍻 with water bowls throughout and dog treats on the bar which is a nice little gesture. Visited with my daughter and 2 Pomeranians for lunch. The reason I've given only 3 stars for the service is that we initially sat outside as the sun was shining, then ordered food and asked if the umbrella could be put up outside for some shade, but we were told it was broken (which was fine) we just advised the staff member we would come back inside and advised changed table number for our food order. We waited around 20/25 mins and no show of food, so I chased it up for the staff member to do some investigating to be told the food went outside and was nowhere to be seen now. Unsure what happened to the food, maybe someone got a meal for free 🤷 we were asked if we wanted our money back, but I replied nicely, that we would like to eat so would wait. We were advised there were now quite a few orders in front of ours so could be abit of a wait of which I said was fine, but this is where I feel we should've been offered maybe a free drink each (we were only on coke) and our drinks were quite low, but the guy just walked off. We waited around 1hour before the food came out from originally ordering. The food came however were not large portions, we had burger, few chips and side of coleslaw. The burger was lovely though, burger hand made and coleslaw very creamy 😋 I would visit again, I just feel the staff member could've offered more as a kind gesture for the long wait other than just offering a refund.

We arrived Friday afternoon, Managers were working out staffing in bar. Asked whether we could check in, told to go to bar. Was not greeted as a guest, man never spoke just took key and walked us to room. No explanation of what time breakfast was served, when bar opens etc. in the room which was a twin room there were 2 very small single beds. There was no drawers or a cupboard to unpack clothes. There was a rack with 4 coat hangers. In the bathroom there was the smallest basin and nowhere to put toiletries. When you had used the towel and it was wet there was nowhere to hang the towel and it had to be placed on top of the radiator. There were coffee and tea making but you are unable to fill the kettle under the tap. After coming in from the rain there was absolutely nowhere to hand a wet coat other than on the rack next to the dry clothes. We are having to use the window sill to put things for the dog as there is no other surfaces. The room has no WiFi or any phone signal. After asking numerous times nothing has been done to rectify this. Considering that we are staying for a week we feel this is not a liveable experience. After the third time of asking about WiFi in the room the guy behind the bar rolled his eyes at me, said a job had been sent to BT and it may be sorted tomorrow. My dad is 82 and almost blind and the fact that he has to put a code in to get through the door is not at all helpful. The food is lovely but has been marred by the whole situation.

We stayed for one night at the accomodation above the pub. Friendly staff welcomed us. We stayed in room 3 and it was clean, tidy and welcoming with a lovely sea view. A very comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Nice selection of biscuits and coffee in the room. Only negatives about the room was the tv permantley stuck on a blue contrast and the rail in the bedroom was broken. But not enough to mark the review down. We had breakfast cooked in the morning which was delicious. Overall the experience was excellent. One last and final negative I found was the pub and restaurant area smelt very strongly of wet dogs when we arrived. We would stay again.

Booked into Wash & Tope for a two night stay with a work colleague on 10th January. The rooms were extremely cold, after my colleague complained, we were provided with an electric heater each, which, by the morning, had just about warmed the room to an acceptable level. Just before we were provided with the heaters, I had decided to take a shower in order to try to warm up. To describe it as a shower was stretching the point somewhat, describing it as a light drizzle would have been more accurate, in addition to the lack of pressure, the shower head was held up with an elastic band and refused to point in the required direction. The decor in the room was generally okay, but the bathroom could have done with a refresh. We stay away a fair bit on company business and usually use the national chains, but thought on this occasion we would try a small independent, to support a local business and enjoy a hopefully more friendly and welcoming service. I’m afraid to say that we cut short our visit and will not be using the hotel again. Although cheap, the standard doesn’t approach what we have come to expect from the (admittedly rather bland, but reassuringly predictable) national chains. I feel I could only recommend the hotel to someone on a very tight budget and even then would suggest avoiding the colder months of the year (September to June, for example)

Room 8 is where I stayed,a comfy bed and good shower. Unfortunately, the room was very tired, and in need of redecoration as was the bathroom. It was also very noisy at night due to some extractor fans or kitchen equipment running in the nighttime. I was unable to have the window open due to noise. The breakfast was an extra at £10.95, which, given the state of the room I feel, should have been included in the price .The room was £70.00 a bit too much considering the decorative appearance. I wouldn't stay there again as I feel it wasn't value for money. The final nail in the coffin for me was the barman telling anti semantic jokes from behind the barI found them on bad taste and, unprofessionally and totally uncalled for considering he had no idea of who was in the bar, their background or religion.

We’ve been to Hunstanton many times and this is our first stay outside of the usual caravan stays. The Wash and Tope is in a fantastic location, without a doubt. Right by the beach, town, and usual amusements. It’s on a main road, but not too busy at night, save for the usual (occasionally happy) passers by. Parking is free on road, but there’s a paid car park opposite. The pub appears to be heavily into efforts making money Friday to Sunday with their music acts in the summer months. Opening times seem to be ad hoc during the week. Pub garden is a car park with many tables and chairs and , again, aimed for the weekend music pull. Our room was ok. Sea view. En suite door didn’t shut properly which didn’t bother us but might bother some. Power sockets were tricky to locate behind furniture so maybe a rethink to to room layout would be useful. We didn’t eat here so cannot comment on that. The two female staff we dealt with were warm and friendly. Ladies loos in the pub 8/10! This place has such potential, but not yet realised….

This is a dreadful place. If the surface isn’t stained, it’s sticky. The barman was utterly indifferent to the needs of his customers. A joust-about-passable pint of Landlord, though always with the standards of hygiene in mind… The menu was as plebeian as it was unhygienic (simultaneously stained and sticky). My partner bore a genuinely startled expression when the menu she'd been looking at, seemed to have become welded to the table. Didn’t eat, chose to go elsewhere…

First time visit. Had a lovely meal and some great Adnams Ghost Ship ale. We both had Hunters Chicken and it was cooked and served very well.

If I could give this a 0 star I would. Travelled here with my elderly father who is also a cancer patient, for 5 hours to visit his sick parents and we emailed twice in advance asking for early check in. Upon arrival the lady, who I presume is the manager, said they hadn’t received an email, no apology and nothing to try and help get the room ready sooner. Just didn’t care. Quite frankly the three women behind the bar stared blankly at us as if it not their problem. The level of customer service was appalling. Bit of advice - I wouldn’t recommend going into hospitality if you don’t want to be customer facing or give two monkeys to help people. The room was basic. Not clean. Thick black cobwebs and a toilet seat that didn’t stay up. 5pm check in to clean and it is laughable because the rooms were far from clean. This place could have so much potential with the right staff and a refresh because the location is great. It’s just such a shame that the staff obviously don’t care.

Excellent lunch as part of Norfolk Restaurant week. Had 3 courses, delicious chicken breast with parsnip purée, fondant potato, cavolo Nero and mushroom sauce. My husband had bream with a Chinese twist. We both had the steamed Guinness sponge pudding with whiskey caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Staff are lovely and very attentive despite a busy restaurant. Have been meaning to visit for ages and it was worth the trip! We will be back.

Made to feel like a leper when we walked in by I assume locals just staring. My 13 year old daughter left the door open, to which one of them got up and slammed the door. Was told they'd put 2 small round tables together in the middle of the room for three of us. Felt so uncomfortable we left. Was just like the scene in American werewolf in London, amazed someone wasn't playing darts. Avoid, go to one of the chips shops instead!
