We have been here many times and always drawn back. This time with our son and daughter in law and their dog Peggy on a Saturday late afternoon for a meal which we booked in the bar. Great choice of beers and wines and soft drinks food menu was good too and well informed information and choice for our daughter on law who is gluten intolerant. The outside spaces are excellent this was a cold wintry evening but all the same fantastic. Staff super friendly as always and nothing is too much trouble for them, even refereying between my son and I fighting for who pays the bill lol.

We turned up for lunch without a reservation and the place was packed. The incredibly kind barman made sure we could eat outside and really looked after us. All of the food we had was amazing and when they found out it was my wife’s birthday they brought her a plate of petit fours with a happy birthday message. What more could you ask for. Amazing place and has made our day

Excellent menu with a rich variety of dishes using local meat and fish products, cheeses and fruits. Creative dishes such as carpaccio de boef - tender, delicious, burrata and beetroot; fruit mix of beetroot and fruits offset the creamy nature of burrata, mackerel and blood orange.... nice food stack - a little more blood orange slices to offset/complement the mackerel would have helped. Fresh, tasty food with excellent service until the tarte de limon..... end of the night and staff had been busy. Will visit again for sure.... recommended and good value

We have eaten once here in past, and were bought a voucher as a wedding gift, so decided to stay the night and also have another meal. A very warm welcome on arrival, asked if want a free newspaper in the morning and which one we would like. We were taken up to our room and fresh milk was provided for the tea and coffee facilities. The room was lovely, spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, the toilettries provided smelt incredible! Our meal was brilliant, we just went for a main meal and selection on sides and drinks. We know the restaurant is well known for its fish dishes, but we arent really fish people, so had the steak and it was incredible! Cooked to perfection! The lighting in restaurant is stunning, really sets a lovely atmosphere. We then went and sat though in bar area to relax for a bit, our served (Sid) who is brilliant!!!! Came through with a suprise dessert to celebrate our mini moon, such an amazing and appreciated gesture. Breakfast was included and was brilliant! Fresh, no grease, lovely atmosphere and enjoyed the view. Also had pastries, cereals, juices on offer in addition. Really lovely stay and where situated its a close drive to some really lovely places to explore.

Popped in for a late lunch. The pub is located right on the coastline and in a lovely location. There is plenty of parking with EV points , should you need one. Entered through the bar which has a warm country feeling ,and made our way to the restaurant area. This opens up into a fresh and bright area, with plenty of glass to admire the view( particularly good on a cold day) There is also outside seating for when the weather is kinder. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Had the fish and chips then a coffee after. The food is nice and reasonable value. Overall, a nice spot and worth a visit.

We had lunch here after a lovely walk on Holkam Beach. The place has a lovely view of the beach. Apparently int the summer this place gets really crowded so it was nice to come in February and be able to enjoy the ambiance… the barman was nice and friendly and although the food took a while to be served, it was good. The menu is very extensive - plenty of local fare too. Boise from. Highly recommended.

We made our reservation at the White Horse weeks in advance for a Saturday night dinner table. We were in the bar because we had two little dogs with us. On entry the atmosphere was busy, lively and warm. The bar area was quite full (it was about 6.45pm), and our table was just being prepared. Noticeable were the presence of big family groups, many with small children and dogs in tow. Overall a really nice place to be. I had asked for a table near a wall so we could settle Betty and Luna on their blankets out of the way, and that is what we got. Out of sight of the Beagle under the next table, so no barking or hassle. We were determined to have fish, and chose the plaice for our main courses. The dishes came well presented with the plaice in a light curry sauce and with mussels in their shells. The accompanying veg was potatoes, and greens…both of which were well prepared and tasty. We had also ordered sides of beetroot (with feta) and sprouting broccoli. The fish was however just…disappointing! These were small and thin pieces of plaice. When taking the top layer of ‘meat’ off the bone with a fish knife, it was really insubstantial…just a scraping. Once the bone had been removed there was really very little fish left. The mussels were very good, making me wish I had had mussels as my main course. The beetroot and feta was good, the broccoli less so…it was limp and grossly over cooked. I remarked on this to the server and it was promptly removed from the bill. Which was good because we hadn’t really eaten it…a shame really because what little I had, tasted as if it might have been good apart from the texture. For pudding I had tiramisu, which was fairly standard fare, but accompanied by a really nice coffee ice cream. The service was friendly, but things took quite a long time to arrive. Sometimes inexplicably. All the staff seemed to be beetling about at full speed early in the evening. Not surprising as it was very busy then. But later around the time of our pudding it had quietened down considerably as families with children left. The Irish coffee took an age to arrive, at a time when they didn’t seem especially busy. It may be that we ordered the wrong thing. We’ve been here before and have given 5 stars. I must admit we looked on quite enviously as the couple on the next table received their mains, he having the haddock and chips, and she the mussels. Both professed their meals to be excellent, so perhaps we should have ordered something different.

We have been to many of their out door feasts during the summer and always enjoyed the occasion. It is over an hour from where we live so have never tried the Restaurant. What a great experience from beginning to end. We had the braised short rib and Carpaccio, both fantastic. Grilled Whole plaice on the bone, great. The service was both friendly and professional, and special dessert at the end. We are now planning a weekend stay in the not too distant future.

Amazing location, although the metal part of the bannister above the glass almost perfectly blocks the view of the horizon. Good service, but think we may have been given tap water instead of still as it was warm although we weren’t charged for it. The restaurant was cold (given it was winter) but the radiators were not on. The way the bread was served was unusual as it was served whole, and since it was a very crusty roll it took some cutting. It was on a chopping board with no bevel or rim, so crumbs inevitably covered the table. The food was tasty, but quite small portions, especially the pasta. Desserts were nice.

This is an impressive establishment in many respects; some of the food was exceptional, other dishes weren’t. Some of the staff were excellent, others (one waitress in particular) less so. Positives: Ambience and decor, wine list and recommendations, starters (burrata, chowder, nibbles, tiramisu - all 5*). Down side. My lobster at c£56 wasn’t great, it was ‘watery’ almost like it’d been frozen rather than fresh. The fries weren’t great either, neither very hot or crispy - not a patch on those served at the Gintrap just down the road the previous evening. My partners pasta wasn’t great either, a small portion, not as flavoursome as it ought to have been and given how excellent the Barata was I think it would’ve been possible to add something to make the dish more enticing. So, both mains disappointed and when the bill is c£140 with just 2 drinks it should all be good! Biggest issue, as ever, consistency of service. Two waiters were fab, waitress not up to scratch. Let me explain, my partner’s cocktail was spilled (fortunately all over the floor but it was a full glass). We waited 5 minutes but then thought it best to draw a member of staff’s attention to the problem. Unfortunately, the first person I encountered was the waitress in question who looked less than pleased but said she would come along and clear it up. She didn’t. The next time I saw her was 5 minutes later when bringing our main courses to the Table at which point she realised that she needed to clear up all of the liquid that was floating around on the floor beneath us. The next stage involved the use of around 37 m of blue roll to soak it all up - mindful here that a cocktail is sticky. I felt like advising her to go get a mop and in 30 seconds it would’ve been sorted anyway, her face told a story. She wasn’t rude, but she was tardy and unfriendly and failed to remove the spilled glass or ask if she could replenish the cocktail that had been spilled. We had to ask. A few other minor points, all attention to detail. I know full well that running notable hospitality establishments (especially when busy) is far from easy, principally because great staff are at an absolute premium. The Whitehorse has a lot going for it and we probably will return but on a weekday rather than a weekend to see if having fewer tables occupied makes a difference. I think with a few adjustments, it could and should, be 5 star. I hope when the management reads my/our review it understands why I/we scored it a 3. It might have been a 4 but the waitress and other factors resulted in it failing to meet what I regard as not unreasonable expectations.

It’s a really really beautiful spot and even on a cloudy day the views are spectacular. Also easy access to the coast path for a walk. The food was all delicious except the Pear Mille Feuille which was tasteless and disappointing. Dressed crab was excellent as were the cheddar and nduja donuts. Service was very friendly but slooowww. We were with our two sons (6 and 8) and it took two hours to order, serve and eat 2 courses. That’s a long time for two children to sit still. But it gave us ample time to enjoy the view… £160 for four of us to eat 2 courses, including drinks and coffee. Quite steep. But lovely.

Two evening meals in 3 days, but the second was a real let down. Wine served in a cracked and chipped glass (which was replaced, but should have been spotted before it reached our table) Inconsistency with portions on the ‘special’ pheasant - 1st time I had 4 figs and 5 consistent slices of pheasant, 2nd time I had just a single fig and 4 slices of pheasant, all different thicknesses. Waited over 30 minutes for the main courses to arrive. My grilled seafood platter was disappointing, for the £32 charged. Everything was smothered in an oily herb sauce and had no individual taste at all. Worst was the octopus - either it was frozen or not fresh, as it had no individual taste at all and was really bland. Two large prawns were really nice, but everything else just had the same herb and oil taste. The accompanying 1/2 lobster had the same issue, but was overcooked - this was an extra £18 on top!! My wife had a very dry (overcooked) piece of pork - no excuses for this really, could and should know how to cook pork. And there was no spinach at all, as there should have been. We were asked if the food was ok, to which we both said it was Ok, but it should have been outstanding for the price. Nothing was offered to be taken off the bill, except for the service charge, as a result of our comment. Waiting staff were great, but sadly won’t be rushing back again as you can’t charge top dollar for average quality food.

I adjust my review after the Staff did as much as they could to resolve my observation relation to extractor fan noise. They were kind enough to offer us an alternative room, even for one night out of our three, but from my perspective to wasn’t any better, although it was still a lovely room. If you are a light sleep like me, you may want to consider ear plugs but I have been assured that the extractor fan system is switch off after 2300hrs, which was the case last night. Thank you to the staff for trying to address the issue as there wasnt much more they could do. I would just ask that they consider referencing it on arrival but reassure customers that it is switch off around 2300hrs . Thank you to the main desk staff once again.

I was disappointed. We travelled two hours to get here after seeing their Facebook page and seafood options. There was a very frosty welcome from staff and we were shoved into a very dark corner of the indoor section. I had wanted to eat in the conservatory area which was light and bright with a great view. I was told I couldn’t move table even though we were the only customers at that point. The waiter was really impersonal and cold and not at all helpful. Simple requests for say a cup of ice were not carried out. They didn’t deliver the correct numbers of starters. As for the seafood well what you see on Facebook is not what you receive. It was rather meagre, with the smallest oysters I have ever seen. To be fair guests who ordered steak enjoyed it. But everything was covered in mounds of rocket salad-why? Does anyone actually eat that quantity? The desserts again were mediocre and very mass produced and dished up cold from the fridge and a very small portion. Would not recommend nor visit again.

Definitely worth a stop here to eat. Ideally after a walk along the coastal path.

Recently lunched at the White Horse and the whole visit was excellent. Service was just right, friendly but professional and the food was superb. We had the smoked salmon from the smokery in their car park, stone bass and finished with lemon tart; all were delicious Can't wait to repeat our experience!

Mussels were great. Sirloin was poor. Service was slow and the wait staff seemed stressed albeit friendly. A steep price tag for an average experience.

Brancaster itself is a treat, and to finish off eating at The White Horse makes it so memorable. The view is serene, and the friendly attentive staff lovely. Hard to choose as so many dishes were being served looking tempting but we went for the shared platter and it was awesome👌

This is the second time we have eaten here in the last year and again we enjoyed our meal but thought it was very overpriced. The chips for both mains were soggy. I ate them just thinking it was one of those places that does soggy chips, my partner complained and a replacement bowl was delivered but by this time he had nearly finished the meal. For the price paid, we could have had a really big first rate dinner in Farmyard or Benoli in Norwich and the quality of the food and the service would have been so much better.

our seafood main course we had at the restaurant recently, was the best plate of food we've ever had at the White Horse - and we've been coming for years! Well done to the whole White Horse Team1

Considering the cost of a roast there we found it to be very mediocre at best Nothing jumped out as wow !for example carrots were like Heinz baby food also Yorkshire puds were overdone roast beef in my opinion .undercooked. We shall not be returning.

This cafe sits within the lavender farm complex, and offers a range of cakes, food and drinks. Service is a little more canteen like than cafe with an automated coffee machine, and we unfortunately found the lavender cake a touch dry, but interesting to try. Some nice comfy couches to sit plus table and chairs. Dog and child friendly.
