The pub has a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately, it seems people were allowed to vape inside, which made it difficult to breathe for some of us. The best dish we had for dinner was their pie, which was nice with plenty of meat. Their sticky toffee and browny deserts were excellent. If you like very spice food that has the same heat as eating mild curry, then this is a place to try. Go for the falafel or the chickpea burger but expect way more spice than the average dishes of this kind. It was a bit too much for me, but other people might love it. There is plenty of parking behind the pub.

I was not going to leave a review, but after last night I feel I have to. We went and had dinner two days ago, and it was a shambles. Wrong food came out, then had to wait while my partner ate. Then the food bought to me was cold. Not acceptable. So o didn’t eat. Then last night , went for a drink. Purchase and the lights were being turned off around us. At over £10 for two drinks that’s just wrong. If you’re closing then don’t serve people. I’ve just move back to the area, and the white hart is better in every single way. Avoid

Went into the exhibition today around 5:30 to meet up with family who had been in there a few hours prior having drinks outside. We are regulars who go in there at least once a week whether it be in the day for a drink or early evening for dinner as it is a family friendly and dog friendly pub. Never had any problems in there before, the lady who is always working is super nice and accommodating, always chatting away and lovely to my daughter. I even had a gender reveal party for my daughter in there and we’ve been in there on Christmas Day!!! Today we had some drinks outside, then went into the bar to have some dinner early evening time. The bar was busy & super noisy there was workmen drinking at the bar, family’s next to us with children playing, dogs sat in there, etc. When I went to order our dinner at the bar there was about 5 people serving and a child ran behind the bar! Just to give an idea of how busy and loud it was! Start eating our dinner and my daughter started crying, she cried for a maximum of 1 minute before she stopped and was absolutely fine. We also didn’t just leave her there crying, we were sorting her out! She is 13 months old, she can’t talk, can’t communicate any other way but crying!? So she’s bound to cry at one point? Considering it’s a family friendly pub they should be expecting this. The owner Paul then comes over to us, tells us to be considerate to other people in the pub, he said that he has kids - Not sure why he said that because then he clearly knows that children cry. Was just being down right rude to me for no reason considering she hasn’t even cried that long. I was shocked I didn’t know what to say to him, I couldn’t believe he’d actually said that as I didn’t see any issue in how long she’d cried for! We asked the table next to us if they had been bothered by her crying that didn’t even last a minute and they didn’t even know what we were talking about - probably because it is a pub and so noisy anyway!! I would understand if she was crying for a long time and I didn’t do anything about it but for all of 1 minute I’m not going to go outside whilst I’m mid eating my dinner just to walk back in again! If she’d of continued to cry then of course I’d of gone outside to calm her down! I honestly don’t know why he said it to us, if he’s a parent himself then surely he knows that situations like that can be so tough for parents. But what are we suppose to do? Never go out for dinner again? As I walked out I said to Paul ‘happy now’ and he waved me off 🤣 I’ve spoke to people about what happened and a lot of people seem to dislike Paul and also say they won’t go in there when he’s in there! Wonder why. Honestly the whole thing was a complete joke and I will not be stepping foot in there if he’s in there.

Nice atmosphere and friendly service but unfortunately the food was not great . Aubergine Parmigiana was disappointing with hard undercooked aubergines mixed into a sauce . Please recognise that Rice and peas when served with ‘Jamaican ‘ curry goat should not mean green garden peas stirred through rice - not impressed

My home from home in Godmanchester, complete with extended family. Cannot fault any aspect of this amazing establishment, The food is always brilliant (thanks to Colin the chef), the service is great (Cas, Caz and the team) and the atmosphere is also welcoming and fun (thanks to owner Paul and the remarkable work he has put in over the years). There is a lovely and functional garden, great menu and good selection of drinks. We popped in as a family for lunch. Our 4 year old son has allergies and I cannot recommend this pub enough in terms of how they took care of him. Having found something on the menu that did not contain his allergens, the chef came to speak to us himself about the fact that this food was actually cooked in oil containing them. Left without ant other standard children’s options he could have, the chef catered specifically for him and absolutely made his and our day. I cannot thank them enough for making him feel included. On top of that, the food and staff were excellent. Absolutely recommend!

Very disappointing visit. Plus points - easy booking over phone. Turned up at 7:30 and nobody else in restaurant Nice decor and ambience. Bar and restaurant staff friendly and polite. Food not so good. “Baked Brie” worst I’ve ever had, served on a slate with a crudely broken chunk of bread which nearly rolled off into my lap when the waiter handed it to me. The Brie was horrible (see photo). I’m convinced it was a few measly chunks of brie thrown into a bowl with some onions and microwaved. The idea is to be able to dip bread into it but it was not runny like I expected. I immediately returned it and ordered the cheddar and ham croquettes (which thankfully were okay). As if that wasn’t bad enough, when my main meal (pie of the day) turned up, the pie was luke warm and I had to return that too!! I don’t normally like to complain in restaurants so twice in one night is quite a bad night. While I was waiting for my main course to be returned the bar manager came and apologised, offering us another round of drinks, which we assumed were complementary. However, when I paid the bill it became clear that nothing had been deducted from the bill for any of the food or drinks and we had been charged for those drinks. Needless to say I didn’t leave a tip! Before leaving the restaurant I walked past the kitchen and saw the two male chefs larking around with another chap. Their raucous laughter could still be heard when i returned to the bar. Perhaps if they focused more on their jobs they would produce better results. Won’t be going there again

My wife and I visited this pub yesterday having viewed the website and thought the menu seemed good. Turns out, I should have looked at some of the reviews. We arrived on New Year’s Eve for lunch and were the only people in the restaurant. The bar was well staffed as was the kitchen. The young lady who greeted us was kind and said to sit anywhere we liked. She took our order and was polite when we said we needed more time. We both ordered the roast Turkey breast and the food came in good time. The dish said it came with bread sauce but when the meal arrived this was missing. While I realise this isn’t the be all and end all for everyone, it’s still an item I expected to get. I politely asked for it and another lady went to check. She came back to the table and just said there isn’t any bread sauce. No sorry or can I get you anything else or anything in the way of an apology. Her tone almost implied it was a cheek for me to ask at all. The meal itself was average and not worth the money. The service, minus the initial welcome, made the experience something I would not recommend. I don’t often leave reviews either but this place really got to me. A big disappointment and I won’t be going back.

We came along for our work Christmas meal. Never been here before. It’s a lovely place and it felt really cosy and Christmassy. Pre ordering, booking etc was very easy, great customer service. The service was excellent, the food good. I had prawn cocktail starter, Turkey dinner for main and Christmas pudding for dessert. I was a bit disappointed in the prawn cocktail, lots of onion in it, which I’ve never had in a prawn cocktail before and dry toast, no butter… hmm. However the Turkey dinner was delicious and absolutely spot on. The Christmas pudding was yummy, although it perhaps could have been presented in a bigger bowl. Some others had the crumble which looked amazing, but it was crammed in a very small bowl. Just a couple of things: There were no Christmas crackers. The place was packed, tables very snug. The other company in the area we were sitting in were really really loud so it was hard to talk. This obviously isn’t the Exhibition’s fault but maybe less people in one area would help. All in all though we had a lovely meal, the staff were great. The waitress that served us worked so hard - thank you! I will definitely return to check out your usual menu.

Came here for a dinner with friends on a Wednesday night in December. Restaurant wasn’t busy and the place looked lovely. Really poor service however with a rude waitress and food really was not worth the money. One of the party asked for a 125ml wine specifically as she was driving home, was served a 175ml and told there was nothing that could be done!! Apparently they don’t have a 125ml on the menu so this is all could have been offered - would have been nice to have been told before bringing it over! We had pre ordered food but service was really slow generally. It took us around 3 hours to have 3 courses!! The pork belly had a large amount of white, uncooked fat across the top. The dauphinois potatoes tasted like they were cooked a week ago and then microwaved. The fish was really greasy and the all the veg was barely cooked and very anaemic. The desert however was probably the worst - half of the group ordered a ‘berry and apple crumble with custard’. The better way to describe this would be warmed up granola with tinned, microwaved apple slices with powdered, microwaved custard which had a really great thick film over the top! Won’t be rushing back - would not recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice pub, with a positive atmosphere and friendly service. The beer selection was lacking however, and the parking is a confusing mess. Its basically park wherever and hope you dont get blocked in.

Although I live this close to the Exhibition, it has been quite a while since I dined there, but the Sunday lunch was excellent filled by an exceptional Sticky Toffee Pudding which I just managed room for.

We arrived and politely asked if we could have another table. The response we received was really rude and not what we expected from a member of staff to be honest it was very unprofessional. Apart from this the food was great..

Went for Sunday lunch with my daughter. We both had beef roast dinner. The one piece of beef was round which looked like it had been reheated from frozen and was dry with globules of orange jelly like fat in the middle which were kind of rubbery and made me feel sick. The rest of the dinner was cold and Yorkshire was chewy. Won't be returning.

Very nice pub, restaurant was full but we were accommodated with the same service in the bar where it was nicely quiet. Food fantastic, lost count of the vegetables served with the roast

If you order a meal and sit on the bar to eat it, and then have the absolute audacity to ask for another glass of wine with your meal, you are told.... very clearly... that.... 'I don't serve to the table.... get it from the bar...'... NICE!

Booked a table for 7pm for 4. Arrived and was told to choose our own table by waitress and she'll be with us in a minute. Only us 4 and a table of 3 in the restaurant. We ordered drinks, initially 2 of us had to swap to the correct drinks we'd ordered. They came quite quickly. Took a while to take food order. We asked for some alterations (no lettuce or tomato in a burger, chips instead of salad, coleslaw rather than pea puree) hardly major. 50 minutes after ordering food eventually arrived and in this time there was no communication or table service. Waitress complained about us being fussy on delivery of food, the burger was missing burger sauce, over cooked amd the bacon for the burger arrived in a seperate bowl halfway through eating? Along with a side order of chips, the 2 lasagne were over microwaved and black burned, so dry, the garlic bread was rock hard and inedible, the chips were dry. We asked for sauce each and one small communal sauce turned up that again weirdly was dry. The fish and chips was undercooked and extremely oily. All coleslaw had turned like it was sat in the fridge too long. Our bill was extortionate, table service non existent, no one completed their food, we was not once asked how our food was, whilst the other table seemed to have full table service. We paid and will not return, visited a chain for dessert in pure disappointment. For a total of 7 order for the night and lots of staff around there was really no need for this experience to be so rubbish. Don't recommend and won't be returning.

Unfortunately our meal was terrible. Service was just so rude and the food well we didn't even stay for dessert. Fish was soggy. burger was delivered without the bacon. It was delivered on a side plate. Garlic bread was rock solid. Coleslaw tasted off. Didn't even ask if our meals were ok. Just left us to it. Perfect service (Not) £88.00 for being rude what a waste of time & money. And I got told good reviews from there. Maybe the staff was in a bad mood that night. Shame won't be returning.

Stopped here for dinner on a recent camping trip. The pub was nice enough but the food wasn’t great. We ordered the vegetarian burger and beef burger, both of which were missing items that were listed on the menu. The overall quality wasn’t great either.

Privileged that we have this amazing pub in our village. We made our first visit tonight with the new owners and what a lovely experience we’ve had. The staff were attentive and welcoming, super friendly and very accommodating. We tried a few items from the menu and each was simply delicious, both the Kichiya Chundo and the Chicken Tikka were our favourites. Pleased we can also order a take away now - will most definitely be back and would highly recommend to others.

I have been going to Eric’s at Thornham since they first opened, it was excellent , but gradually going downhill The batter and chips have changed so much the batter is hard and horrid whereas it used to be so crispy and the fish was so thick and tasty the chips used to be so good Went today was a small piece of fish cooked in hard batter and the chips were white and so soggy I was so dissapointed in today The fish and chips have slowly going downhill I used to love and look forward to going to Eric’s but not anymore I paid for a medium but got a small hard battered piece of fish Sorry but you need to improve your service, it’s not good anymore

7 of us just had Birthday afternoon tea at the Golden Lion. Was lovely! They catered very well for 2 vegans ( one being a 3 year old ) and a vegetarian! Very good value for money. Service really good.

Disappointing. Cold beef overcooked and hard. Carrots and Brussels mush.stuffing like bread. Roast potatoes inedible. Didn't acknowledge us when we left and left our food. Might be cheap but at £10 but total waste of money.
