Been going here on and off for last 12 years.. a lovely pub in the summer or winter and a good roast on the sundays

Bar staff are quick, accommodating and funny. Had a meal here, there was 21 of us. The service was fast and friendly. The food was really lovely.

Had an amazing time in this pub accident service would definitely recommend. Katy The waitress was outstanding, and gave recommendations on the menu.

We had a great lunch on Saturday. The menu was extensive but not overwhelming, the food was superb and the service from the staff first class. Can't wait for the next visit.

Called in today, our first time, for a lunch. Ordered a steak and red onion ciabatta plus a chicken and chorizo pie. Excellent with both meals. the steak ciabatta cut like a hot knife through butter was served with a green salad and fries. The pie served with fresh greens, cooked perfectly. Lovely atmosphere lovely lady server. Excellent value will definitely return here again .

Absolutely delicious 2 course lunch with great service and very nice setting, very impressed with everything we had and waiting staff were great. Nice coffee and very reasonable cost for the meal as well. We will definitely be back!

A group of six of us ate Sunday roasts here this past weekend. Had all the meat choices between us and everyone loved it. The portions are big, meats were all well seasoned and not overcooked, and the trimmings were all good. Special shoutout for the red cabbage which tasted smoked. Best pub roast i’ve had in a long time. We’ll definitely be back. The service was also on point, and staff were friendly despite the added stress of the point of sale systems playing up that day due to internet problems.

Wandered here for a few beers - Friendly staff and nice range of beers. Garden has a lovely view over countryside - gets a 3 for atmosphere as we were there late afternoon and pub was empty so there wasn’t any atmosphere to speak of - They have a Beatles night this weekend - I’m sure the atmos will be rocking’

All I can say is this place is AMAZING. Staff, food, choice, price, view, garden. So lovely. Only issue is the menu is so good, I have to keep going eating there 😗 100% recommend.

We had an excellent meal as a group of eight. We were inside during the evening, but there's plenty of room inside and out. We split the bill but had to go to the bar to make our payments before leaving. Otherwise, it's a great place.

We had previously had a lovely meal at the white horse so decided to go again. When i booked by phone a very rude foreign sounding lady took my booking very abruptly and as if she really couldn’t be bothered. When we arrived a young dark haired girl didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing and each time she did something wrong shouted ‘s..t’for us to hear with no apology, this same girl screamed from behind the bar and ran off each time a wasp came near her. A dark curly haired boy was very rude about other customers ( they had asked why their drinks had taken so long )in front of us. There was one very polite blonde haired lad that was excellent and seemed to be holding it all together. If it wasn’t for him i am not convinced that we would have had any food at all! Food was very nice but such a shame that the staff were incredibly unprofessional. We will not be rushing back i am afraid.

Lovely food, but the service from the foreign gentleman was poor, he kept walking in front of us with no apology & didn’t seem to be aware, when we first arrived & waited to be seen he just stepped in front if my husband, so rude !also started collecting our starter plates when one if the party hadn’t finished their meal & the main course came out very quickly, not very much time In between meals especially for the person that hadn’t finished their starter ! He was very brash no customer service skills at all, I noticed another table commenting about him. The other younger gentleman was great that brought us our drinks.

Went for family Sunday roasts, the vegetarian option now gets all the same trimmings, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding an optional excellent cauliflower cheese and a lovely vegetarian wellington. Only thing needed was extra gravy !

Excellent choice for a Sunday lunch on a very warm day. It was really busy so luckily I booked a table. Fantastic roast meals (beef is excellent) not overwhelming quantities, just right. Desserts choices are good and delicious!

We had the chicken wings for starter, the roast and for dessert the Eaton Mess. It was all absolutely delicious! We want to go back and try more on the menu because everything looked delicious. After dinner we moved to the garden for drinks and it was a lovely vibe. Would definitely recommend

I recently visited the White Horse whilst being used for a wedding reception. It proved to be a first class venue in wonderful surroundings with a good amount of parking. The food was from a BBQ and there were ample tables outside to eat. The food was very very good and vegetarians were also catered for. The management allowed the married couple to put their stamp on things by having various entertainment laid on for the kids and adults. Football goals. Sandpits and Play pens. A dress up mirror for photos and an incredible magician proved very successful. The bar staff and serving staff were all young people. Each one of them was an absolute credit to the pub and to themselves. They were friendly, polite and worked hard. There were a couple of DJs who also were top drawer. They helped me out to facilitate the speeches by moving their speakers in order the guests could all stay seated. They then played a superb set, ranging from older pop classics to house and trance “bangers”. A truly wonderful evening was had, I have not heard one complaint. ( unusual these days). So in my opinion, I fully recommend the White Horse pub as a venue for functions. Paul.

Nice place, good menu, something for everyone. I really like the chicken shish charcoal grilled chicken on an open flatbread with a bit of hommus, sauce and lettuce tastes great could do with a bit more chicken or some chips on the side. I have eaten here twice and my meal was great both timrs, my companions say the food can be hit and miss. Burgers look epic but not had one myself. I would go here again for a meal. Loads of parking, nice, historic, clean English pub with plenty of seating and a great beer garden.

Went 29th July. Not as good as past meals we've had there. Vegetables were REALLY hard. Told management and they didn't seem interested. My fish and chips was nice, but lukewarm. Very noisy with young kids, although can't really blame the pub for that. Although I'd like to.😊

What a lovely afternoon we had, the food was just divine. The service was amazing and attentive, the drinks were served as they should be with TLC!!!

Turned up at our reservation time only to be told quite sternly that we were 30 minutes late. They had confirmed the correct time by email but written the wrong time on their paperwork. As we were late we were shoved into a cramped corner next to a baby shower, a bit like the naughty corner. The food was lovely and very well cooked. Really enjoyed the starters, mains, and desserts. If the review was just on this, they would have got 5 stars. Lovely place and lovely food. Just don't upset the management.

Excellent Sunday roast with good portions and all the trimmings - great value for money. Service was a little slow as they were very busy and because the tables are close together things can get quite loud.

Visited for the first time with a friend who had recommended this venue. Am I glad he did. The Sunday lunch was very nice, tasty, and the portion size was good. Staff made us feel welcome and all at a good price. My only criticism would be that the fruit crumble could have had more crumble, but others prefer more fruit.

Sunday roast; pleasant enough service but a poor meal; tough beef, bizarre tandoori coated chicken and a mound of soggy black cabbage. Small coffee cups for £3. Lovely location so a real pity.

A beautiful looking place with a large menu but not living upto furst impressions. Firstly the beef chilli on the nachos had no chilli in it what so ever. They were also served in a dish with a large chip in it which sat on a plate with a chip too. The fish and chips were served with soggy wedges. The churlish were luke warm. Plus point halloumi fries were very good. Travelled from Derbyshire and won't bother again.

I booked this restaurant for my 60th birthday and I was not disappointed. There were 24 of us and the food was served hot, cooked well and was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meal. The staff were very attentive making my birthday celebration the perfect day. If you are considering booking this venue for a meal or a celebration you will not be disappointed. I am so glad I found this gem of a restaurant and we will be back for further visits.

6 of us had Sunday lunch. It was Easter Sunday and very busy. We were sat on a small round table designed for 4 people. When our desserts were ordered we said we would like coffee afterwards, When we finished our desserts we waited 20 minutes and were then told they needed our table back as we had been there 2 hours. There was no mention of a time limit when our table cwas booked. We were not allowed coffee.

Excellent food and service. We both had the Roast Beef Sunday Roast. Probably the best Sunday Roast we have ever eaten! We visited on impulse and were lucky to get the last available table. So best to book if the weather is too cool to sit outside.

Visited this lovely rural gem yesterday. Group of 25 of us celebrating a family birthday. Staff could not have been more helpful, friendly & courteous. Gave us free reign of an area overlooking a wonderful view of the countryside. All the meals were fantastic. Cooked to perfection and very generous portions. Amazingly all served within a few minutes so no-one was kept waiting (admittedly we had pre ordered due to the size of the group). It was worth travelling up from Dorset for such great food & service!

We had an advanced food order booking for 22 hungry ramblers and the White Horse staff worked tirelessy in serving up some amazing food. There is a great choice on the starter/mains menu and we even had time to indulge in the delicious desserts. Niko and the team did a brilliant job in catering for our large group. The pub has real character, plenty of seating space and our walking group visit was a thoroughly enjoyable one. We left the pub well fed and fuelled up for the 2nd half of our day walk. As walk group leader i can highly recommend a visit to the White Horse pub!

We went for midweek lunch as a family with our dog. As soon as we walked in we were made to feel really welcome and a nice table out of the way had been reserved for us. The menu is huge with so much choice, there really is something for everyone. Service is great, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous experience for a really reasonable price, so pleased we found this such a great venue

The food here used to be incredible!!! We went for a roast today and were disappointed with it - seems as though less time and effort goes into their food now. May have just been an off day though.

We've just had the most delicious Sunday roast lunch at The White Horse, Burnham Green. I chose pork and my husband chose the turkey. We both enjoyed generous helpings of meat and the accompanying vegetables and gravy were all full of flavour. We could not fault anything. We have eaten here before but never on a Sunday; we will most definitely return for a Sunday lunch in the future. Thank you Team White Horse Burnham Green.

I had liver and bacon and my friend had pork schnitzel. We both enjoyed our meals.

Food of good quality but service lacking slightly. Busy pub, so a bit noisy and hey really need to do something a bout the slamming front door.

We booked a table for six people for lunch on a Saturday and had a very pleasant drive through countryside to find this venue tucked away off the beaten track in a charming little village - there was plenty of room in the car park and when we went in we were pleasantly surprised to find the pub wasn't crowded as so many are on weekend afternoons. The interior is very cosy with low timber framed ceilings and a real wood fire ! We ordered starters, mains and desserts - all came promptly and were well cooked and delicious, the salmon I ordered was particularly tasty with sauteed potatoes and nice, freshly steamed broccoli. Service was prompt and efficient without being pushy - in general the whole atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed. The bill at the end came to a fraction over £180 which, considering the quality of the food and service, was very reasonable. This was our first time at The White Horse but we will definitely pencil it in for a return visit. If you want a change from the usual, crowded, manic "Beefeater Inn" type of experience at the weekend, plus great tasting food - give them a try !

We had an amazing time at the restaurant as we were celebrating my daughter's baptism. The staff was incredible and very friendly at all times, especially Noémi and Nico who were extremely welcoming and very thorough in their services, we wouldn't have had such a lovely day without them! The food was a 10/10, definitely recommend and we will be returning soon.

Booked Xmas dinner well in advanced phoned up today to pay deposit and found out they cancelled my booking really not happy at all poor service

Visited Saturday lunchtime and had a very disappointing experience. We booked for 1pm, what should have been a relaxing family meal for 4. Left hungry. We ordered drinks, which came swiftly, then ordered some meals. We were enjoying the atmosphere, our drinks and a little snack of olives. Kids meals arrived within 45mins but our meals did not…. We ordered a 2nd drink and we’re told by our server our food would be out soon. Other tables where people arrived after us were being served, no server came back to see us or ask if children who had long finished main would like a dessert. By 2:45pm (90mins after ordering our food) we decided to leave, we had places to be and kids were now impatient. It was at this point a member of the team then brought out the 2 remaining meals, which were left at our table. We understand that things can happen, kitchens get over run, short staff etc…. just communicate with your guests. They removed the cost of the untouched meals from our bill at my request, but no apology.

How awful can you get with food and service! Please avoid if you think you are going to get a decent Sunday roast. Plenty of places like the Tilbury would smash this place in bits with their level of food and service. After waiting 50 minutes for our food to come out I was expecting the food to be amazing! But far from it! Roast potatoes dry and tasteless - basically been sitting under the heating lamp. The lamb shank was a huge disappointment. This dish was £20 and I had to leave the lamb aside it was that bad. I thought it would of been a fall off the bone lamb but it was dry and chewy. Proper mockery! The Yorkshire pudding was dry and cold. Must of been a left over batch from last week! How bad can it be in making simple items. Pubs should excel in this. What the major micky was when the waitress comes and says we can not eat dessert as they needed the table back for another party! So we get there for 1pm. Get our food at 2.10pm and make us skip dessert thinking this is acceptable when they take so long to bring the cold and tastless food out in the first place! No one comes around asking if we would like another drinks or nothing. Basically this place is badly run from the top and you see it has filtered down. What shocks me is how this place is busy and has so many 5 star reviews. With the standards of food I had I'm sure you will be amazed with the pubs closer by serving a higher standard of food with a more professional service. Thank you for ruining Sunday Lunch!

A first-rate Sunday lunch to catch up with friends. Great selection of roasts, recommend the 'trio of meats' and the butternut squash, lentil & almond wellington. There are also burger, sandwich & fish options available. Puds are lovely if you can fit them in! Prompt, friendly service, despite being fully booked & very busy. Highly recommended but do book to avoid disappointment.

When I used to live nearby this was one of my favourite pubs. I would go there regularly for drinks, the lovely garden and lunches. Notwithstanding the local residents, many of whom are multi-millionaires, this pub appears to have become overly pretentious but the food quality has gone downhill, the menu isn’t as good as it used to be and most items, for example, a chicken ciabatta for £14, are grossly overpriced. There really wasn’t a good selection at all for people wanting a lighter or healthier option and I do not believe well over £20 is a fair price for the average main in a typical pub. The Piedra Tempranillo, while seemingly good value at £6.75 for a large glass was actually poor value as it was a cheap and nasty red that is not in any way reflective of the fabulous red wines that are made in Spain. My advice: sort out your identity crisis and either be the pub you used to be which was welcoming to all and consistently good food, service and value, or become a fancy restaurant and raise your game significantly (which would require far better chefs and serving staff)!

One of my best Sunday Roast dinners. Could not fault anything. Its a must if in the area. (Don't forget to book a table)

Lamb shank was hugely disappointing. The food came within 10 minutes, but was incredibly dry, bland and very very fatty. I informed the waitress that the food wasn’t edible. I am unimpressed at the cost, the quality was not reflected in the price.

We had our wedding party here on Tuesday and it was an absolute dream. Such a beautiful setting, so much for the kids to do and such many beautiful backgrounds for stunning wedding photos. Leading up to the wedding they were so helpful and really went above and beyond. Everything flowed so well on the day. It was completely stress free and seamless. Everyone commented on how perfect the wedding was. Couldn’t recommend them high enough. If you are planning a celebration and want it to be stress free then this is the place to do it. They were also so accommodating regarding dietary requirements.

Lovely food served with great care

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had! We came for a birthday dinner, there were 10 of us to accommodate. A couple of us had arrived early and was advised our table upstairs wasn’t quite ready and were welcome to wait in the bar. That was fine no problem. We were then advised our table was downstairs just behind the bar, ok no problem but the table only had 8 chairs… when I spoke to the waitress to remind her we were a group of 10 her attitude was appalling and was told to ‘wait a minute’… no problem but the rude tone was not necessary. We then ordered our food, some had starters. The halloumi fries and the hot and spicy chicken wings were delicious, however the hummous and pitta was bland and flavourless and highly would NOT recommend. Then for our mains the majority of the group had a roast. Now before I go into how awful they were I just want to say we came to this place exactly a year before for the same persons birthday. The food was exquisite! We all left raving about how good the food was and even tried copying the recipes at home! Unfortunately this year it was a completely different story. The roast dinners were adequate for a dogs dinner. When they bought the plates out we were advised they were hot… they were luke warm and so was the food. The roast potatoes where still raw in the middle and the veg hadn’t been cooked long enough either. We did get fresh roast potatoes bought out when we complained but was advised the small bowl she bought out was all they had left and if we wanted more we’d have to wait 20-25, again this waitress spoken with an unnecessary attitude. We then complained to the head waitress as the manager wouldn’t come to our table, we were not impressed at all by the quality of the meals and advised we wasn’t prepared to pay for them. The head waitress, rather than try to resolve this quickly thought it would be professional to start arguing with us at the table which completely ruined the whole birthday meal. We absolutely will not be returning to this place. It’s a shame as we visited a few times last year and had such a pleasant experience. I don’t know if it’s been taken over by new management but me and my family will certainly be taking our money elsewhere for the future.

Good menu for a gastro pub and the Sunday Roast section was really nice, the roasties were delicious and the portion size very decent. A couple of real ales to choose from, so great. Competitive prices too. Well worth a visit

Really nice pub in the countryside. Has a great beer garden. Choice of beers and ales are decent. We went for a Sunday roast and it was good. They did sell out of some of the favourites but order was good. We had to send the Yorkshire pudding back as they were stone cold but the staff apologised profusely and replaced them with fresh ones very quickly. Give it a try esp if the weather is good (or in the winter and you're near the fireplace.

This was our third visit over a couple of months. I must say as soon as you walk out n you are greeted with a friendly warm smile , the restaurant has a great atmosphere, the food is absolutely gorgeous with very generous portions. The wines are also fantastic . Over all amazing quality food with a very well thought out menu , good quality wines at very reasonable prices . Definitely worth a visit .

We happened upon this little gem of a pub having searched the internet for pubs with gardens in our local area. What a find! We were welcomed warmly and seated outside in the large garden. The menu offered a good choice for both meat eaters and vegetarian with classic pub fayre alongside greek inspired dishes. Service was prompt and the food delicious. All in all a very pleasant experience.

This is a superb country pub. We popped in for dinner this evening. Lovely friendly staff and the food did not disappoint, 5* We’ll look forward to our next visit.

Wonderful Saturday Lunchtime meal in the garden with family. Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. We had Whitebait starters and then Kleftico Lamb for mains and churros and eton mess & bakliva. All we're amazing and of a great quality. We just love the Whitehorse

Lovely lunch break during a long walk. Food was great. Sat in the beautiful beer garden. I am not a big fan of McMullen's beer, but the pint I was served was good.

It was a lovely evening, with good service and delicious food. Definitely will return. Staff work extremely hard to give a good service. Well done.

Avoid like the plague, unfortunately one meal didn’t arrive and the replacement was rushed and inedible Manager/chef was rude and the food he served was worse, after one meal was missed off completely the chef quickly made another plate which looked completely different in colour and taste to others already at the table, he tried to pass off two completely different looking plates as the same meal then, by the time the substandard replacement came to the table everyone else had finished and although the offer of another meal was made, I did not go out for a meal to eat alone, the offer was that the meal would be removed from the bill, in my opinion that isn’t good enough, if you can’t take orders and serve everyone then you should not be in the restaurant trade. I would never eat here again, and advise anyone against eating here.

The pub come highly recommended for Sunday lunch and although the service was okay, all the roast dinners had so much fat I was surprised it was was given to us unbelievable , the table had been booked without was no recognition of that again surprising and the manager leaves a lot to be desired, I know they were busy, but as someone said in March on a busy day should have more staff there which was definitely a staff shortage which reflected on the whole service of the pub, the whole Sunday lunch was under 50 minutes as we couldn’t order drinks or queue up at the bar, as there was only one member of bar staff on I was very pleased to leave the quickest thing to come with the bill .

The White Horse does not disappoint, not only is it stunning to look at on the outside, the interior is stylish renovated to a high standard. The garden is beautiful overlooking open fields beyond with plenty of seating. We arrived to find the garden very busy and despite being told there would be a little wait for our food, it arrived very quickly, there's a good choice and the food was fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is also a climbing frame for any bored little ones.
