Great experience, Great Staff and Great food. Can’t fault them at all. Highly recommend the Katsu Curry, delicious!!!

Me and my partner were just having a walk around tewin and come across this lovely pub! We started to get hungry and needed a bite! We come in and was welcome by a very lovely lady and she sat us at a table and help us with the order.

Came in for something to eat after watching some firework's, was greeted by a very friendly lady who introduced herself to us Stacey, who explained there was a band practicing tonight so could get a bit loud, we really enjoyed listening to them play some old classics! Food was lovely and the young lad who served us was very polite. Will definitely be returning soon!

Having recently moved to the area, we decided to try this local pub for lunch. Nice pub lunch, although slightly long wait for drinks. Nice food and pleasant atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Wow what a difference! We had almost given up with this pub as the service was dire. Under new management now and you can certainly tell. We were really looked after (my elderly mother and myself). New menu too which was lovely. Food has always been nice and the location is handy for us plus it's disabled/wheelchair friendly. Definitely deserves five stars now 😊

***response to the reply… not sure what else I can say, perhaps better organisation so things don’t get forgotten?*** They let me keep a homemade cake behind the counter whilst we did a dog walk. Friendly and happy to help. However the service wasn’t great - they forgot one meal and we had to ask for some of the accompaniments that were listed on the menu as part of the meal as they were forgotten for 3 out of 4 meals. The atmosphere and the surroundings were nice. Dog friendly.

Great beer garden. Decent selection of beers. Only had roast dinner there (on previous occasion) and it was nice

Me and the better half came for a meal tonight and were extremely impressed with everything, the food was great (Nachos sharer highly recommend) and the atmosphere was chilled and relaxing like you would want in a village pub. Staff were very helpful. All in all I would recommend the pub to anyone reading this review 👍🏻 and get the nachos sharer 🤣

We had a lovely meal last night. The new menu is great. The mixed grill was huge. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. The kids also enjoyed their food. All staff are friendly and inviting, nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait for our next visit!

Enjoyable meal, food well prepared and presented. Staff attentive and welcoming. However, I chose the venue for a family dinner based on the menu shown on their website only to find that 40% of the meals had been taken off.

Never been here before, but me and a couple of friends went. It was pretty busy but the bar man (Ted?) managed to serve everyone quickly, and have good conversations with customers at the same time.

Fantastic pints. Lovely staff. New dart board with adds to the atmosphere. They are soon changing the menu which will revolutionise the pub!!

Spectacular today from Joe he really brought a new level to service! The atmosphere was outstanding and the food was great coupled with a deal of £2 a fosters which goes without saying.

Absolutely shambles. Not a lot on the menu. Booked for 16:30 and didn’t get food until 18:45. Barely any food left on the menu. No roast dinner available. It has gone down hill over the last past 4 years. Birthday meal ruined Won’t be returning until it’s back to its former glory days.

Typically only pop in for a few pints. Green King is usually pretty well kept. Monday half price happy hour....

Came for a family meal here (party of 10) had a brilliant time! Food was absolutely amazing and although it was quite busy we didn't have to wait long. The staff were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed, it was nice to see Stacey is still there and still as cheerful as always. Will definitely be returning, thank you for making our birthday celebrations the best we hoped for.

Oh dear oh dear such a shame of how this use to be.small servings,dead plants,shabby furniture outside,above average prices,misty glasses etc.lots of staff and toilets naff. Affluent area needs it back of old! Won't drive there again for a long time and told friends.

This pub was nice. I came here with my dad and we got some pretty good food. The service was also impeccable. The guy behind the bar was very efficient (Jed). I will certainly be back.

We came here for a meal for my son’s 16th Birthday (his choice), 8 of us in total. We were sat in an area away from everyone, it was really nice as we didn’t have to raise voices to be heard when chatting to each other!!! The drinks order was taken and within 5 minutes had returned with them where they took the order from our starters and main meals. Starters came out quickly and were lovely, everyone cleared their plates. The main dinners came out almost straight away too, my partner and myself had steak, have to say it’s one of the best steaks that I’ve had in years, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Everyone loved their meals even my daughter she said it was the best Hunters Chicken she had ever had out too! We had puddings and coffee to finish. All in all it was a lovely meal, from the quickness of taking the drinks order and the meal orders to them being place on the table. Nothing was too much trouble especially when we asked for some extra sauces. So thank you The Plume of Feathers, we are looking forward to coming back very soon xx

We were recommend this place to come and eat. Sadly, we waited over 45 minutes for our food and watched other people come in after us, and get served their food before us. One couple had finished their food before we got ours. The burger that we received was dry and the cheese and bacon on it were cooked beyond unreasonable. It looked like it had been left under a hot light, way too long. The place wasn't even busy, with only 4 tables with customers on. The staff spent most of the time, that we were there in the kitchen and not in the restaurant and not speaking(unless customers had to shout for help)to customers not until we were ready to go.

Popped into my local with friends on day of Tewin car show...expected it to be busy and long wait,however pleasantly surprised as bar well serviced and most importantly acknowledged by bar staff on arrival ..the wait was negligible. Thankyou Jed exceptional service to your locals

We had a great Sunday roast. It was a very busy and warm Sunday, the staff advised the food wait is 45min, I don't think it was that long, but if it was we sure enjoyed the drinks and the view to not feel the long wait. The playground is great for young kids. We sure enjoyed everything and the location and views on sunny days are just amazing.

Waited 40min for food which was very poorly presented, ordered hunters chicken with chips, onion rings & a salad dressing. Also ordered Mac 'n' Cheese Served with a fresh, lightly dressed salad. Food looked very bland,Salad was practically non existent with moldy tomato. Won't be going back there.

The company we were with was great we went to sit at a table it had split beer over it asked if it could be wiped down as we sat there but that never happens which with COVID still around it should have been requested this twice nothing happened also in the restaurant while eating a big black dog was wandering round the table not very good

Thought we'd try this pub again after not having been for quite a while. The service and food was a bit hit and miss. The staff weren't very attentive. Looks like I won't be back for quite a while again.

Had a lovely lunch here today,booked in advance. Mixed group of us in terms of diet, including meat eater, vegans and vegetarians. Good range of options for us all, clearly labelled on the menu, all tasted delicious,all plates cleared! Service was great, staff friendly and helpful. Garden is large and beautiful with lovely views over surrounding countryside, nice little play area for the kids, loads of tables outside or inside, high chair provided. Cosy interiors, good amount of parking. Well worth a visit and we'll definitely be going back!

Absolutely delightful. The chicken burger was top notch none of this fake chicken stuff. Tender, crunchy and very tasty. The garden views are fantastic and so are the staff. Friendly and prompt with service. Would highly recommend. Ellie, Mark and Amy were pleasant and a real joy with attending to our table.

Is there a food shortage? We came here as a group of six. First of all, one of our group ordered the burger & chips that comes with onion rings…However, it came out without any onion rings. We told the lady who replied ‘I’ll go and check’ they bought out only two single onion rings shortly after… They didn’t seem certain if the onion rings come with the menu/dish. The mock-tail drinks were lovely, along with the strawberry lemonade this was very tasty, these drinks were reasonably priced. Our group noticed that most of the food portions/dishes were very limited, apart from my fish and chips my portion size was okay. My 85 year old nan who has a very small appetite, was shocked with the lack of portion size’s for the asking price. She said ‘is the chef on hunger strike’! The staff here were friendly, they were fairly quick to take our order and deliver food. Additional touches to their service would be nice, such as: ‘do you need any sauces or anything else etc’ when serving the food would be good. The brownie ice cream Sunday was very nice and the portion size was good for this desert! However, the smaller desert the ‘eaten mess’ with a drink was mostly cream.. comparing this desert to other pubs.. I’m not sure you could even call it a desert at all… one mouthful and it’s gone. Overall, it wasn’t great for the prices charged. I’m not certain if there are supply shortages, but up the portion sizes for the price you ask from the customer would be a start.

Meal this evening, food was delicious so thankyou so much to the chefs. The place is lovely, I love the character of the building and the seperate sections, however sadly the manners of staff at the bar let our trip down. We tried to put this behind us, we did and enjoyed our food but I thought it best to be truthful, the new manager (guy with dark hair and glasses) seemed great, so well done to you.

Met a friend for some drinks and a few snacking type bits. I was really gutted if I’m completely honest. The service was slow and staff seemed to have attitude when dealing with things not going to plan. Apparently under new management so was hoping to see positive change. The pub itself if amazing but….clearly needs some work on staff

As usual,lovely food and ambiance. Unfortunately,after receiving our drinks and main meal we were just ignored. Decided to wait and see what happened next.After 25mins of observing,tables being cleared and made ready, we paid and left.Plenty of staff near the bar,mainly chatting.Yes, we could have said something,but,shouldn’t need to. Very disappointed.MB

Came with a pre-booked of over 20 guys. Not a small.challenge! We mostly pre-ordered but there were inevitably some last minute changes. Everything was dealt with well and everyone got the meal they ordered! I myself had the salmon florentine which was a lovely meal, fresh, well- cooked and tasty. But the best thing of all was really good communication, which made a potentially complicated job run smoothly. Special mention and thanks to Chloe, our waitress, who kept us informed throughout and served us with a caring and friendly manner. Highly recommended!

The plume of Feathers is Tewin, not Welwyn. It is in a lovely area. The garden is especially lovely and brilliant for kids. I have a 3 year old and he loved it. The food was brilliant, came out quick and was hot. Will definitely be returning.

This is a review of The plume of Feathers in Tewin, not Welwyn. Beautiful old pub with low beams, wooden floors and welcoming atmosphere. Table service was top but bar service pleasant but slightly slow. Wine was very good, and food was good pub food. Great to watch dogs and kiddies running around happily in large beer garden. Well worth a repeat visit.

Had my mum’s Wake here. All the buffet food supplied was fantastic, lots of choice and allergies catered for brilliantly. All my family complimented the food and choice.

From arrival we felt very welcomed. we were assisted by chloe during our meal and she was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. She explained everything we needed to know and is a real credit to the plume of feathers. The meals were outstanding (compliments to the chef on the day) We couldn't fault our visit, and will definitely be returning.

The food looked ok but we didn't eat, beer was good but only 2 options and both Green King which was disappointing. Also I'm afraid they were short staffed which meant although we wanted to eat there was a 45 mins wait. However I know this pub pretty well and service is always slow , could be alot better.

This has always been a great pub. It is in an excellent location with an amazing view. But the previous management wasn't the best. The pub is now under new management and it has really turned around. I love it. I highly recommend going to this pub, especially since the weather is getting better - so the large garden will be perfect. + the bar man (jed) had impeccable service, but I saw him drop a glass.

Didn't have food we just had drinks. But it even had a doggy menu on a chalk board including ice cream for them. Never seen that before but the dogs loved it.

Lovely traditional village pub. Staff were great and an inviting beer garden. The 10 of us who had lunch all said the food was mediocre at best.

I came here today as a rare treat after reading the good reviews, but was a big disappointment. After driving 30 minutes, very hungry i was told i had to wait 15 minutes to make an order as they only take orders at certain times. Once i was allowed to finally make an order, i then was told all the meat has run out so can't have a Sunday roast! I was particularly looking forward to a good carvery meal, and like i said was a rare treat so accepted vegetarian option although i was disappointed. I made my way to the beer garden, which was lovely and sunny and waited. I continued to wait, and wait til 1 hour and 15 minutes has passed. At this point the children were starving, and i was fed up. I then asked if everything was ok, and the food arrived shortly after. After all that waiting around i was very surprised to find nothing as advertised on their Sunday Roast Menu of, 'crispy rosemary & garlic roast potatoes, maple roasted carrots' and all the trimmings.' Instead was burnt pie, one burnt sausage, a tiny portion of boiled veg with no seasoning, dry hard yorkshire pudding, 3 tiny potatoes that were obviously ones that were ready made frozen and reheated, which turned out to be dry, and not to mention the stuffing which tasted vile and watery. The kids barely touched their meal as they did not like it despite being so hungry. I did not expect such low quality food with tiny portions for a nice looking pub in a lovely location. If you're after a decent Sunday carvery, i'd advise looking elsewhere!

Come down for lunch with family it has such a lovely beer garden, my kids really enjoyed it! The little touches they have to the pub such has ice creams and a climbing frame outside! Lovely country pub and dining. Good selection of Ale and IPA, unfortunately I have yet to have a decent pint! I either keep getting the bottom of the barrel or the lines need cleaning! Staff are friendly enough.

I love coming to this pub! The food is lovely and the staff are so welcoming and friendly and more than happy to help! I have been here a few times with my partner and t we’ve always left very satisfied! The beer garden is massive and has a lovely climbing frame for the kids to go and play on and enough green for them to run around! It also has a lovely view of horses whilst you drinking your drink and even eating! I’ll definitely will be coming back again! Thank you for such a lovely experience and thank you for the lovely food ☺️☺️

Lovely lunch at the Plume of feathers today. My husband has coeliac disease and was catered to brilliantly thanks to their gluten free menu, very specific allergen list, and separate fryer. Food and staff were lovely especially speaking to the new General Manager Mark. Sounds like he has some exciting plans for the pub and has already clearly made a great impact. Well done Mark and team.

Came here with the family today, sat in the beautiful garden that has stunning views of the countryside, it was very busy basically every table in use but the staff handled it brilliantly 👏🏼 perfect organisation there. Food was perfect and cannot wait to spend more sunny days here!

This is a very attractive old pub in a lovely village. There were 7 of us with children aged from 2-9. The service was particularly friendly and helpful and our table was perfectly placed. The food was fairly typical corporate pub food, but was well prepared and presented. The garden was great for the children and they really enjoyed themselves. We would definitely go there again.

Lovely pub in Tewin. Nice outdoor seating area in the grass. I had called the night before and was told they were fully booked but we could sit in the outdoor area. What I wasn't told was that we wouldn't be allowed to order mains because they were fully booked. Quite disappointing. Appreciated them allowing us to order sides and dessert. So the Cheesy Garlic Ciabatta was nice.

Fantastic meal, very tasty sunday roast and desserts just delicious! Truly made our large family Easter gathering! Special mention to the excellent and attentive staff! Great seating arrangements and young children loved the garden and adventure apparatus. Overall great experience would fully recommend for a family event or a quiet meal for a couple!

Absolutely stunning interior for those who like the original beams visible, extremely clean and comfortable as well as very accommodating for those with disabilities and allergies! Ample parking and food to die for .. one of my favourite places to dine. I tell everyone to go and try it out for themselves 🥰

made a booking for mothers day and I've got to say it was absolutely perfect. all the staff who came to our table were incredible, polite and patient. table was cleared between each meal and were offered more drinks when glasses were getting low, not to mention the delicious desserts after having our lovely roasts. huge shoutout to Havana, Jed and Conrad for the excellent service on the floor, as well as everyone in the kitchen for the delicious meals. the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, so without a doubt we will definitely stop by again to make even more mouth-watering memories.

Came to this pub for mother's day to have a family meal and it was a very pleasant experience. Food tasted amazing and came out quickly drinks were amazing too. Our server was Conrad who was very attentive and efficient which made our meal very enjoyable. Very nice atmosphere as well as being a very clean pub nice decor too .Very friendly staff would come agian for another meal.

Having been with friends it was clear that the atmosphere and normal services have been disturbed from a leadership perspective rapidly changing from a once happy comfortable place to meet to an avoid and find another location. Very much a shame but when you notice staff are not happy it reflects on to the customer. Like I said,such a shame.

We visited the plume of Feathers this week as a walking group of 14. I have to say everything was excellent. The pub got really busy but the service and the wide selection of food was really well cooked and presented as usual. The manager in particular ensured all our requirements were catered for in a friendly manner, including coming to the table to take the drinks order rather than us queue at the bar. The week before we did a pre walk and the pub was not that busy, this week for the walk as mentioned was very popular. We regularly use the plume of feathers; arriving at about 10.15, go in and pre-order our lunch and use the loo ! Returning about 12.30 the pub will have rearranged the table according to how many of there are of us. Food is then served shortly after we arrive for all of us together. We are not rushed so a leisurely lunch and chat. We will be back later in the year and have our lunch in the garden.

We have had many pub lunches here in the pub area with no cause for complaint. And used to be regular Sunday lunch customers under the previous management. However following a couple of not good evening meals in the restaurant we have avoided it. But after looking at reviews thought we would try again and booked to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Our roast dinners were lukewarm and portions small, the brown quarter of red apple on plate was very unappetising. No one came to check if meal was ok and no staff around to grab attention to tell that the meals were lukewarm. Having sat for 30 mins with dirty plates finally we went to the bar to ask for desert menus. When they were brought over we told the young man the meals were lukewarm and he apologised. 15 minutes later we went to bar to order deserts as no one came over and a member of staff then came to table. No one asked if we wanted more drinks, no one asked if we wanted coffees. 3 tables around us needed clearing, 2 done partially, one left with a tray and unused cutlery and the other with used serviettes. Neither wiped down and reset. Had to go to bar to pay bill, again no staff in restaurant area. Recommend light lunches in bar, will be avoiding restaurant.
