Service was a little slow but not too much of a problem. Roast potatoes weren’t particularly crispy (and a few burnt) but overall food was really good and is a lovely pub to come to.

Cannot fault thos restaurant/pub... staff are so friendly you feel welcome... the food is tasty..if I had to say anything its such an open area it can get noisy when busy... but that's same everywhere...

The decor at The Three Horseshoes, Hooks Cross, is fresh and bright. The new outside seating area is a welcome addition. The service with Roy was excellent. The menu is ok, but the prices are very expensive. The option for a small plate or large plate has been removed. I'm not sure if I will be back, as there are cheaper places to eat locally, that are just as good.

Had a lovely visit. Meal was lovely. A nice relaxing atmosphere. Rob our waiter very friendly and jolly. Would recommend to anyone.

What a lovely place to have a meal and a drink. Beautiful inside and out. A warm and cosy atmosphere. Food is really good and reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Let me start by saying that we love this pub, it's close to home and during the pandemic we visited regularly to help them stay open. We get great atmosphere, food, drink and service. Today (Dec 2024) was top drawer in all respects. Well done team!

After a disastrous meal here a about 8 weeks ago, we where invited back for a meal for 2 on the house. I can honestly say the service and the food was excellent, and I would highly recommend it. I would like to thank vicky and her team for an excellent afternoon.

Hands down the best pint of Guinness around (apart from Ireland of course!) …Food great quality, I’d recommend Sunday roast! (make sure you book in advance)…Tried most things on the menu over the past year and can’t fault anything! Also great selection of drinks, and the staff are all very friendly and professional. Keep doing what you’re doing 3 horseshoes. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Food is good, Xmas set menu very expensive.

Table for 5. Starters were varied and all lacking any kind of finishing touch ie goats cheese with very little else. Halloumi fries, dry and burnt. Mains .... Lasagne was a disaster. Microwaved and left under a heat lamp until it was one inch thick and crunchy. It was bumped up with a few salad leafs and a sprinkling of parmasan which just didn't cut it!!! The chicken burger was passable but just soggy. Decided to give dessert a miss. In the meantime no drinks were offered at the table. When we asked for drinks, we watched them sit on the side for some considerable time before a member of our group collected the drinks and severed them. Overall very disappointed however one star earnt for good chips. We will not be returning any time soon and would most certainly not recommend.

The Hertfordshire branch of the MNDA had a lovely Christmas lunch on Monday 2nd December. Many thanks to Rob and the staff for the great food and all their help.

Lovely decorations. However, it was a bit noisy for myself and my friend, being of the older persuasion a bit harder to hear. Once we moved tables we were fine. However, service was very good and food excellent.

As someone with MND and being in a wheelchair, I must say that the waiter Rob was absolutely excellent

Food was generally very good, but the taste of the fish was spoilt a bit by the crust on top. And the mushroom pie dish did not need the mash potato?

Back for a second Sunday roast after visiting a few months ago. Had roughly the same meal but it was much smaller. Used to be a half roast chicken, which has shrunk down to just a breast of chicken for same price. Was not bad, but smallest piece of chicken l have ever been served. Roast potatoes were hard. Veg and gravy were ok. My partner's meal was a bit of a joke. Lamb shoulder which consisted of a few small pieces of pulled lamb, just strands, no actual pieces of meat. Wish we had gone for a carvery now. Yes the potatoes at a carvery may be hard too, but you wouldn't be left feeling hungry! The place was full so will be interesting to see if that continues. Nice helpful staff. Won't be back for Sunday roast though.

We had a lovely lunch there today. The bars looked very cosy and inviting - decorated with fairy lights for Christmas and there was a good woodburning stove. Service was good with staff apologising for any delays - due to the need for diligence when providing my gf food. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Throughly enjoyed a visit to the Three Horseshoes for a family meal. The service was great and accommodated well for a larger group. The food was outstanding. I would recommend the buttermilk thighs to start, the sauce and crispy onions to garnish made the dish. If you order the fish and chips, come hungry as the portions are very generous. All in all a great place to come with the family, nice atmosphere and well priced.

Pricey. Empty. Poor service. Food not nicely presented and they took do long forgetting to bring dessert menu to us the only option I wanted was not available. They did say they were a chef short but will not return.

Went on a Sunday evening so it was a bit quiet. Tidy & modern.

Our party of sixteen was sat around a table which would have comfortably sat ten, if the room had been larger. The walls were hard and the sound bounced back, a perpetual cacophony conversation that was ceaseless and inescapable. Fewer people and drapes on the walls are the very least that is needed to fix that. The food was expensive and small. I was too disorientated to eat anything else after my hellish experience. A friend told me that he ordered takeout when he got home because his expensive dinner had been so farcically small. It looks so nice there and there is good parking. Don't be fooled. Don't go.

Incredible food today, Sunday roast was spectacular. Very well organised, well staffed by a lovely group of people. Couldn't have asked for more. Our server was Sarah and she was delightful. Thank you everyone.

Always a favourite to visit and has a good, warm and friendly atmosphere. Great for all times of the year too, with plenty of outdoor and indoor spaces.

Portion sizes very small. We had a wagyu burger and chips (which looked like a kiddie portion). We mentioned this to the staff who were happy to bring us another cup of chips each. We also had a side of halloumi fries which were over cooked. Overpriced and not good value for money. Won’t be back

Popped in for an early dinner recently. Before I get to the food the service from the gentleman was superb and very attentive. The food however was rather varied in its ratings. The pretzel was nice but there didn’t seem to be the honey mustard as listed so there were two rather bland dips accompanying the beer cheese. The goats cheese tart can only be described as poor and empty and the steak and blue cheese pie was as my wife said ‘ too good to leave any!!’ I’d come in again for sure especially for a pie!!

Ordered crab salad & a pasta dish both delish. Jake the server was very friendly & consciousness, especially as my friend had a few allergies. Sat in comfy chairs enjoying the garden view. This pub was recommended to us & will defo return.

Excellent attentive service. Good varied menu. Tasty food. Only criticism. Liver & bacon served in a bowl with mashed potatoes & swimming in gravy so the mash disintegrated. Would have been better served on a flat plate so that the ingredient could be eaten individually. But it was very tasty.

Lovely neat and stylish pub with plenty of selection, nice beer garden and friendly staff. Don’t be put off the lack of people in my pic; that may just be one of the good points!

We went out for our Anniversary here, and I must say the experience was extremely pleasant. The food, service and drinks were 5/5.

Excellent!!! Catered for our request with a birthday cake, food was exceptionally good with my sisters husband saying the steak was cooked to perfection.

We last visited the Three Horseshoes over 20 years ago, and having returned to the area, returned this bank holiday Sunday. The staff were very welcoming and efficient throughout our stay. Whether you eat inside or out, the ambience is relaxed, and the food was exceptional. Thank you, we won't be leaving it so long next time!

A quite retreat country pub. It offers a warm welcome to guests. There is live sport available. Well worth a visit.

Used to come here regularly. It’s always been a lovely pub and still is. Shocked at how small the portions were and quite overpriced I feel. Sadly we probably won’t return.

Lentil/ courgette and halloumi main ok ,, bit bland. Triple cooked chips really good if there was more. Sticky toffee pudding was spot on but the espresso was dire i looks but tasted ok-ish. Not particularly smiley/friendly staff .

Somewhat disappointed at service as had to wait longer than necessary to be approached by someone in view of the number of staff to customer ratio. Staff very friendly nonetheless. Food was quite reasonable. Would still frequent it.

Lovely place to eat. Very clean and tidy. We had roast lamb and roast beef with cauliflower cheese on the side for dinner and it was delicious.

The food is delicious, highly recommend the truffle and parmasian chips and the Mangalorian curry was amazing. Alex was a fantastic waiter, very cheerful and attentive! We shall be back!

Really nice food, decent portion sizes. I had fish and chips, the fish was skinless and beautifully battered and I got 2 big pieces, the minty crushed garden peas were really good as well. Lovely decor inside, they have a lovely garden as well.

Came to see a band playing on the garden. Band ( Hot Tub Steps) were excellent. It's just a shame there were not more people watching. We ate at the 3 horseshoes, and the food was fabulous. Potted prawns, scallops, and the buttermilk chicken Milanese are all highly recommended. Really nice pub with a very good outdoor seating area. Definitely recommend it, and we will be coming back.

It wasn’t busy inside when we were there however there was a choice to sit outside in the sun or inside in the lovely air conditioning. Mains were ok but nothing special and some felt portions were a little mean. Plagued by flies throughout the meal and stuck onto an uncomfortable table where there was barely any room to actually squeeze between the wall and the table. For the money paid this wasn’t a great experience. A bit disappointed to be fair.

We went to the pub for Sunday lunch. I ordered the roast beef and, as I have issues with osteoarthritis, I asked for a steak knife, which the waitress said she would bring. 10 minutes later, as there was no sign of the knife and I had tried, unsuccessfully, to cut the very tough beef with an ordinary knife, I went inside to ask for one. The lady I spoke to brought me one and I mentioned that the beef was tough. Her response surprised me: "That should do the trick then," The manager heard the exchange and came out to our table to apologise and promptly brought some very tender beef. An excellent resolution to a complaint.

Wonderful food! Roast lamb was incredibly lean, flavoursome, and beautifully cooked - this was an absolute selling point for me. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. Roast potatoes were crisp, sides were cooked perfectly, were brilliantly seasoned, and the gravy was delicious. Staff were friendly, polite, professional and approachable - they left us alone to eat our meal but attended to us very well. Overall experience (especially considering we visited for a last minute sunday lunch with no recommendation or experience) was extraordinary. We will without doubt be returning to sample more from the menu.
