Three Horseshoes in East Hertfordshire

Throughly enjoyed a visit to the Three Horseshoes for a family meal. The service was great and accommodated well for a larger group. The food was outstanding. I would recommend the buttermilk thighs to start, the sauce and crispy onions to garnish made the dish. If you order the fish and chips, come hungry as the portions are very generous. All in all a great place to come with the family, nice atmosphere and well priced.

Our party of sixteen was sat around a table which would have comfortably sat ten, if the room had been larger. The walls were hard and the sound bounced back, a perpetual cacophony conversation that was ceaseless and inescapable. Fewer people and drapes on the walls are the very least that is needed to fix that. The food was expensive and small. I was too disorientated to eat anything else after my hellish experience. A friend told me that he ordered takeout when he got home because his expensive dinner had been so farcically small. It looks so nice there and there is good parking. Don't be fooled. Don't go.

Always a favourite to visit and has a good, warm and friendly atmosphere. Great for all times of the year too, with plenty of outdoor and indoor spaces.

Portion sizes very small. We had a wagyu burger and chips (which looked like a kiddie portion). We mentioned this to the staff who were happy to bring us another cup of chips each. We also had a side of halloumi fries which were over cooked. Overpriced and not good value for money. Won’t be back

Popped in for an early dinner recently. Before I get to the food the service from the gentleman was superb and very attentive. The food however was rather varied in its ratings. The pretzel was nice but there didn’t seem to be the honey mustard as listed so there were two rather bland dips accompanying the beer cheese. The goats cheese tart can only be described as poor and empty and the steak and blue cheese pie was as my wife said ‘ too good to leave any!!’ I’d come in again for sure especially for a pie!!

Ordered crab salad & a pasta dish both delish. Jake the server was very friendly & consciousness, especially as my friend had a few allergies. Sat in comfy chairs enjoying the garden view. This pub was recommended to us & will defo return.

Excellent attentive service. Good varied menu. Tasty food. Only criticism. Liver & bacon served in a bowl with mashed potatoes & swimming in gravy so the mash disintegrated. Would have been better served on a flat plate so that the ingredient could be eaten individually. But it was very tasty.

We went out for our Anniversary here, and I must say the experience was extremely pleasant. The food, service and drinks were 5/5.

Excellent!!! Catered for our request with a birthday cake, food was exceptionally good with my sisters husband saying the steak was cooked to perfection.

A quite retreat country pub. It offers a warm welcome to guests. There is live sport available. Well worth a visit.

Used to come here regularly. It’s always been a lovely pub and still is. Shocked at how small the portions were and quite overpriced I feel. Sadly we probably won’t return.

We last visited the Three Horseshoes over 20 years ago, and having returned to the area, returned this bank holiday Sunday. The staff were very welcoming and efficient throughout our stay. Whether you eat inside or out, the ambience is relaxed, and the food was exceptional. Thank you, we won't be leaving it so long next time!

Lentil/ courgette and halloumi main ok ,, bit bland. Triple cooked chips really good if there was more. Sticky toffee pudding was spot on but the espresso was dire i looks but tasted ok-ish. Not particularly smiley/friendly staff .

Somewhat disappointed at service as had to wait longer than necessary to be approached by someone in view of the number of staff to customer ratio. Staff very friendly nonetheless. Food was quite reasonable. Would still frequent it.

Lovely place to eat. Very clean and tidy. We had roast lamb and roast beef with cauliflower cheese on the side for dinner and it was delicious.

The food is delicious, highly recommend the truffle and parmasian chips and the Mangalorian curry was amazing. Alex was a fantastic waiter, very cheerful and attentive! We shall be back!

Really nice food, decent portion sizes. I had fish and chips, the fish was skinless and beautifully battered and I got 2 big pieces, the minty crushed garden peas were really good as well. Lovely decor inside, they have a lovely garden as well.

Came to see a band playing on the garden. Band ( Hot Tub Steps) were excellent. It's just a shame there were not more people watching. We ate at the 3 horseshoes, and the food was fabulous. Potted prawns, scallops, and the buttermilk chicken Milanese are all highly recommended. Really nice pub with a very good outdoor seating area. Definitely recommend it, and we will be coming back.

It wasn’t busy inside when we were there however there was a choice to sit outside in the sun or inside in the lovely air conditioning. Mains were ok but nothing special and some felt portions were a little mean. Plagued by flies throughout the meal and stuck onto an uncomfortable table where there was barely any room to actually squeeze between the wall and the table. For the money paid this wasn’t a great experience. A bit disappointed to be fair.

We went to the pub for Sunday lunch. I ordered the roast beef and, as I have issues with osteoarthritis, I asked for a steak knife, which the waitress said she would bring. 10 minutes later, as there was no sign of the knife and I had tried, unsuccessfully, to cut the very tough beef with an ordinary knife, I went inside to ask for one. The lady I spoke to brought me one and I mentioned that the beef was tough. Her response surprised me: "That should do the trick then," The manager heard the exchange and came out to our table to apologise and promptly brought some very tender beef. An excellent resolution to a complaint.

Lovely Sunday meal, relatively large group of 10. Good service, good food, good atmosphere. Not much more to add. Recommended. Thank you 😊

Just had lunch with Dad and the food and service ( Rob) was great. Wonderful place for a peaceful lunch, the gardens are beautiful.

Wonderful food! Roast lamb was incredibly lean, flavoursome, and beautifully cooked - this was an absolute selling point for me. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. Roast potatoes were crisp, sides were cooked perfectly, were brilliantly seasoned, and the gravy was delicious. Staff were friendly, polite, professional and approachable - they left us alone to eat our meal but attended to us very well. Overall experience (especially considering we visited for a last minute sunday lunch with no recommendation or experience) was extraordinary. We will without doubt be returning to sample more from the menu.

Could not fault anything everything was first class.

Sadly one of the worst meals we have ever eaten, Crab & Asparagus salad, gritty and hardly any crab. Pork from the specials menu, only comment my friend could make was that the vegetables were nice, and the mash taste funny, and my Mozzarella and Sun blushed tomato salad with king prawns was nothing sort of dire, both salads as previously mentioned, were full of grit and looked like they had been thrown on the plate from the other side of the kitchen. The beer is £2 more expensive than most other pubs & my gin was sadly tasteless. The one star was for the nice waitress.

Restaurant is gorgeous, has an outside pond with turtles in and a large green area for kids to run around. Food is superb and above normal pub quality, great range of drinks and have always had exceptional service.

We organised a 'Wake' to be held here after a funeral.. it was a lovely bar, the staff were amazing and so accomodating, a credit to the pub! And the food buffet was execetional, vast selection of snackie food, that was delcious. Highly recommend bookin a function at the venue!

I had lunch here, lovely place, the outside surroundings were lovely, fountain ⛲️ in the background, good idea 💡 especially on a sunny day. The staff ,very presentable & professional, drinks, Absolutely perfect, Peroni on draft. The Mains, a trio of Roasts Inc striploin of Beef, Pork loin & Half Roast Chicken , tenderstem Brocoli, buttered carrots & Red Cabbage, Roast potatoes, stuffing, crackling & yorkie. Sounds lovely, well some of it was & some wasn't. Beef was spot on(Rare), pork loin(Tender), Chicken(perfect), the veg let it down. 2 slithers of carrot, more stem than Brocoli & Red cabbage, where was it , the Roast potatoes needed a steak knife to cut through, they were like Cannonballs,the stuffing was dry n hard , crackling & yorkie, OK. The Plate was too Small for the dinner, I know Chefs like to get height for a meal, but you had to deconstruct b4 you could start & like I said the plate too small. The Desserts. Green apple & Blood Orange Sorbet, I wanted something to cleanse my palate, Omg Absolutely Delicious, the 2 together, Awesome 👌, I would've bought a tub of both & to be honest I thought the dessert was better than the main , my partner had Roast Beef, her thoughts were like mine, although she did enjoy the striploin of Beef, her Dessert was Lemon & white chocolate parfait with chocolate sauce & crushed freeze dried raspberries , again Delicious. Overall the Meal was somewhat Delicious, Staff , fantastic Well done Macs.

Came from Somerset to take the family out. Lovely food. The Roast Shoulder of Lamb was lush. Yorkshire Pudding was light and a lot of Roast Potatoes (6) but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Thank you.

An afternoon party for our 80 year old family friend was brilliant and the venue was perfect! Emma and Will made the most sumptuous, scrumptious, delicious food! The staff are all outstanding too. Phenomenal customer service all round. The area at the back is perfectly designed and set out for small to medium parties (20 to 30 people). We will most certainly book our next office and family party at The Three Horseshoes! Oh and did I mention the fabulous food?! Yes, ten out of ten!

Haven't been been a while as our last visit wasn't great. Had driven past a few time and saw it's had a makeover and thought we'dgive it another go. Our visit was great, the food was so much better, definitely recommend the starters 4 for £26 section and the service was heaps improved, we had a lovely chatty young man, didn't get his name but he was just lovely. The decor definitely looks much better than before and we'll definitely be making another visit soon.. :0)

Had a lunch meeting with a colleague here. Got a big welcome on the way in and the staff looked us very well. Food was very tasty too.

Had a pasta dish which cost around £15 to say the least the portion was very small,and not worth the money, there was probably around 10 pieces of pasta and probably a quarter of courgette,there was supposed to be bacon in the recipe, but there wasn't any,have been here many times as I love this pub and surroundings,but the food let it down,which is such a shame definitely not value for money.

Had a lovely time here. Had some great fish specials on which is rare to see these days. Can’t wait to come back again. Good all round

We had a lovely meal. Service was great - very friendly waitress’s and we didn’t wait long for food. We had burger 🍔 with cheese, chicken burger (packed with loads of crispy chicken pieces), lovely crispy chips and crab & asparagus salad (it was a bit bland and could have done with a tastier more flavourful mayonnaise). My daughter had a mocktail which was nice enough it was overpriced at £10. For deserts we had cherry pie which was lovely and the hot drink small desert option - I had the maple waffle. Corner cut off the already mini waffle??? Just give the person the whole mini waffle. £98 for the 3 of us excluding tip. Great varied menu. Yes I would return.

Three Horseshoes Watton at Stone Very expensive for pub food 948522537 Stop here on our way home from shopping for an impromptu lunch. Had a couple of drinks and checked out the menu. The cheapest main courses were £17.50. (Sausages and mash) We passed on food and went to our local pub and got 2 meals for what one would have cost. Nice pub but 5star prices for 3star establishment

We go to the Three Horseshoes regularly. All staff are great, - and even remember our names. Jacques (please excuse if I mispelt your name), is always charming and couldn't be more helpful. If you havent't visited this venue yet, I would highly recommend you give it a go!

Great service snd food was amazing.

Firstly its loverly to find a pub that serves food after 6pm on a Sunday, Iv no idea why most other pubs in the area stop at 6 ? I was on a table of 9 and although The three horseshoes was packed, ( note to other pubs, open your bloody kitchens later ) the obviously busy staff were friendly, smiling and accommodating and the food was loverly. Well done I’ll be back.

Mains were good but a bit over priced for what you get. £17+ for fish, chips and mushy peas. As for the dessert - £8.75 for under a half glass of Tiramisu is very over priced. £52.95 for 2 main, 2 drinks and 1 tiny dessert is over the top. Staff are friendly and efficient but the place lacked atmosphere. We used to be fairly regular visitors before the refurb but sadly we might not be returning due to the higher prices.
