Please see attached a recent menu. I had a lovely experience having dinner at this pub/hotel. I chose the sausages and mash for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that it came with vegetables, as sausage and mash at other pubs I've been to doesn't come with any vegetables. The service was good and very quick. Didn't have to wait long for the food and drinks. Food was great. I definitely recommend visiting here.

Rooms and services were ok, but the rooms were dirty, especially the bathrooms, there was mould everywhere. I didn't want to shower and dust was everywhere in rooms you can tell they haven't been cleaned properly just the bed made. Downstairs in the pub the kitchen was closed so we had no food and again all glasses were very dirty. But the young girl in pub was helpful.

Stayed here for the night with my Husband as I has booked for us to do the distillery tour down the road and this was the closest place to it and luckily they had space. I was a bit sceptical because of the mixed reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. For what it is (a room behind a village pub), the bed was comfy, it had an ensuite and gave us free WiFi. We had dinner in the pub which was nice, plenty of parking and the breakfast was lovely. Would be happy to recommend and if needed to, I would stay again. Couldn't hear any noise from the pub, or people leaving it from our room. Dog friendly pub

This pub is a pit. Only IPA on offer (if your drinking beer). Unloved and totally empty this Saturday lunchtime, and I can see why. Toilets wall tiles are leaving the building. Time to exit. The car park is a health hazard, for your car. More pot holes than your likey to see in 30 miles of driving. That alone sums it up, these days.

Our family had a fantastic time during our visit! The service was outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to assist us. They were incredibly helpful and made our experience extra special. The food was not only delicious but also highly recommendable. Whether it's for special events or just a casual visit, we definitely suggest checking this place out!

We stayed one night as in the area for a funeral, I was worried because it was only £50 but I needn’t have been! Room was plenty big enough for the two of us, comfy bed and quiet room. When we arrived after a delay on the M25 the kitchen had closed, so we grabbed a pizza from a nearby takeaway. Had a couple of drinks in the bar, it was midweek so pub was quiet apart from a couple of very loud sweary locals, this didn’t bother us but might have bothered others so maybe something to keep a handle on. We had a fab wet room bathroom with a great shower! And comfy bed as mentioned above. Just a couple of things that could do with attention, the chair arms could do with a clean and the tv had a blue line down the screen. Full English breakfast was absolutely delicious! Excellent quality products and plenty of it. All in all a great stay and we’d definitely stay again, bargain!

Just through from London and we fancied a Sunday Roast. Randomly stopped off at the Waggon and Horse's and so glad we did. Family ran, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The roast was perfect, tender meat and fresh vegetables, and I mean fresh alongside the massive Yorkshire pudding. The only sad thing is we live in London. Otherwise, I would eat Sunday roast every week. We'll worth the visit. Rob

Eleven of us took a tour of the nearby distillery and followed up with a meal at The Waggon and Horses. We were given a warm welcome by the staff in this somewhat dated pleasant rural pub. Our food was all served on time and was of a good standard. Most had two courses and some had three courses and it was reasonably priced. Happy to go again if in the area.

Stayed at this very welcoming pub for 6 nights while visiting family nearby. While set up for short stays the room in the annexe was clean and had everything needed for our stay and was also very peaceful. Staff could not do enough for you, with clean towels and top up of tea, coffee etc offered daily. Joy was a delight at breakfast with the full English, scrambled eggs and bacon and sausage sandwiches well worth getting up for. We also had a drink in the bar most nights., excellent beer and cider and the locals provided pleasant company. See you again at New Year.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with my partner for a quick drink. Very poor service, although bar maid was chatting to another customer at the time, she shouted into the back room for service. After another 5-10 minutes a man appeared and served another women who appeared from nowhere and who had clearly pushed in. Bar man completely ignored me and served her regardless.

I have recently moved into the village and decided to visit this pub along with family members to try their Sunday lunch menu. I was more than impressed. The service was excellent and the Sunday roast (choice of four meats) was first-class. The food was hot and plentiful and tasted delicious. My compliments go to the chef and I would have no hesitation in visiting again and recommending the food and drinks to anyone. Thank you very much.

Please avoid this place it was the worst hotel room I have ever been in . We could not put our feet on the carpet due to the filthy state and stains The shower was black and filthy dirty . The smell from the drain was that foul we expected rats to appear from it The furniture was badly stained and lamp broken , We could not find any where else to stay or we would have left In hindsight we should have said but the owner was so friendly we felt embarrassed to do so 😕

Every time I have visited the Waggon and Horses it has been with people who are very important to me in my life and each time I have left with a notable sense of comfort and happiness. The menu is continuously varied which makes each visit a treat. The food is cooked to a high standard and presented beautifully. It would be hard to find another establishment where customers are made to feel like friends and feel comfortable in such a well kept and inviting atmosphere. It appears to be a family run establishment and they certainly look after you like you are a member. A wonderful place to visit and enjoy the food and their specialist beers.

We visited here as it was showing the Rugby, good atmosphere and you could tell it was full of the locals, which was nice. We decided to stay here and have some dinner. The pricing was very reasonable but being told all the food was fresh when I don't believe it was, is a bit of a let down. We had camembert to start, which was definitely out of a freezer pack. It tasted nice but cant really give them credit for putting something in the oven already made. I had fish and chips for main, the chips were homemade and chunky, they were the only good thing about my meal. The fish was watery and had no flavour to it, which was a shame. My other half had the cheeseburger, it only came with the burger and cheese, there was no salad inside of it, so looked a little naff. He went for curly fries (which again were out of a freezer bag). We were disappointed with our food but cant fault the staff, they were all so friendly and welcoming. A good visit for a pint or two whilst the sport was on.

Stayed one night. Venue was holding a 40th birthday party, so noise was expected. Party noise was fine - normal. What was not normal was the paper-thin walls and shoddy furnishings. Cheapest possible spend on every item of furnishings and the room stank of stale smoke. It was bad enough to hear the couple in the room above "enjoying their morning together". What really worried me about the standard of construction - and safety - but to be told by the room next door to keep the noise down for simply talking. Simply appalling. Didn't eat, so cannot comment on the food.

Beware, there are too different listings for reviews for this establishment, and both should be checked and reviewed separately. The reviews and experiences for the pub/restaurant are on average positive, but the ones for the accommodation are very different and users have mixed the reviews on both listings here on Trip Advisor, which can be a bit confusing for users looking for advice. The pub is a listed building, with character, lovely and welcoming. The staff members seem friendly and helpful. The food is average and prices reasonable. It was lovely and cosy and we did enjoy some drinks in the evening and English breakfast the next day. There was a good atmosphere, but nothing out of the extraordinary, apart of the silly Schweppes tonic bottle holding some dry flower decoration in the females toilet (I found it funny). There is no reason why we would not go there again. I would recommend it for a nice chill out drinking session or meal with friends or family. On the other hand, the accommodation experience was absolutely 100% negative, due to the neglect and lack of cleaning in the rooms and bathrooms. Accommodation looking dated is something else, but dirty is just not acceptable. Dead bugs, ancient dusty cobwebs, dusty with crumbles carpet, sticky tv control, and worst... the bathroom. (See my review on the Waggon and Horses Inn. The communal toilets in the pub were cleaner than the on-suite bathroom in the rooms) We would not stay there again and I would not recommend.

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding down the road. The rooms were very dated (we had two rooms for our party). The ensuite was functional but very basic and the room needed a very good overhaul. The bed seemed to have seen better days and you could feel the springs in it. I don't think it's a cheap location to stay and to be charged £6 each for a full English I thought was outrageous. Whilst the breakfast was ok, on top of a £75 a night room charge I did think this made the stay quite expensive for two for what was a poor quality experience.

We had been recommended this place as somewhere new to try and we are so please we did. The pub itself is in a small village but had plenty of parking (good thing as we had a 20min drive to find the place). The food was amazing not your normal pub grub of burgers etc, but be warned you need to go with an empty stomach as the portion sizes are big!!!! The menu seems to get changed which is a good thing as it means you can never get bored of the same thing. The meal we had was so good we went back for Sunday lunch (def worth trying and at under £10 well worth it) There were 4 different meats on the day we went and the chef was happy for you to mix and match as it was a cavery it meant you could have what veg you liked and leave what you didn't. Just make sure you leave enough room for pudding!!!Will def be going back when I'm up that way

Myself and quite a few members of my family stayed here as part of a wedding party at a nearby venue. The staff here were so accommodating from the very first moment to the last. They took great care of everyone and made us all feel so welcome. They managed to organise a very large party to eat at what turned out to be short notice of less than a few hours when many of the other guest staying at other venues came for a pre-wedding meal. There was no fuss, no bother and excellent service. The food was fantastic, the rooms clean, tidy and comfortable, and the prices were more than reasonable.Whether you are looking for somewhere to stay or lovely meal out, you could do a lot worse than this place!

This old hotel/restaurant/pub has a wonderful charm. It's a listed building with a small but atmospheric restaurant. The welcome is warm, the food superb and the service is friendly. Prices are very competitive. We have been several times for Sunday lunch and there is always an excellent selection. Midweek the selection is smaller but still excellent quality.

I used to be a frequent visitor to the five bells when Caroline and Darren ran it. They Used to pride themselves on good food and ales. Admittedly, not the cheapest, but you were getting quality. The pub today just seems unloved, had a pint of Brixton lager which was off. Had to swap it for ale which was not much better. Pub is now mostly mass produced lagers It’s a shame the pub is not what it used to be or have the owners it deserves. Believe it’s owned by a chain?. Sorry….. just seen the pub at its best and it feels like a pub that’s lost its soul.
