The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Meant to visit long ago to see what it was like, we weren't disappointed. We had booked to go to another Suffolk pub where we were regulars but after reading several recent reviews on Tripadvisor decided against it at the last minute. Needing a dog friendly pub for Sunday lunch to meet friends limits things but we managed to get in at The Dog at the time we wanted. Service was maybe a little on the slow side but as we were catching up with friends that we hadn't seen for a year we didn't really notice. Nice atmosphere in the bar are where we were seated and staff were very helpful as I was the designated driver and needed low alcohol beer, given a reasonable choice by the young man taking the order. The white wine apparently was very good too. We all ended up having Sunday roasts, 2 pork and 2 beef and both were spot on. Decent size portions and not overloaded and piled high on the plate (one of my pet hates) One of us asked for only one potato and more vegetables and that was no bother at all. One potato arrived with a nice portion of green beans. Value wise - no complaints at all. We've had much worse Sunday roasts and paid a lot more for them. A pity it's so far away for us as we would happily be regulars.

Great Pub, we have visited several times over the last 30 odd years that we have visited the Broads, but not for a few years, we really didn’t,expect them to be able to accommodate 8 of us without a booking on Valentines night but they did and we had a wonderful meal, I can recommend the chicken curry.

We have eaten a number of times at The Dog and Duck and it is always reliable and welcoming. The service is always helpful and efficient and the food is excellent: delicious goat's cheese salad, gorgeous roast beef and fantastic burger. All this and a great atmosphere in a proper pub.

We booked one of the garden domes to make it a special Christmas lunch get together for our friends and their daughters. The girls loved the cosy dome where we could play music and they could go outside and use the play equipment. The food was exceptional! How did we not know about this before? The service was super-fast and Lauren looked after us so well. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes and answered all our questions. Very impressed with her customer service skills. The girls had burgers and the adults opted for the Greek dishes and they were superb. All in all, a very relaxed, enjoyable Sunday lunch. We heard that the pub is closing briefly for work to enlarge the kitchen. Once it’s back open, we will come again and bring friends. Food and service like that is worth waiting for.

Went to the Lamb and Flag as it was half way between where my friend and I live. We were really impressed. We had lamb shank, porchetta and Bakewell tarts. Everything was delicious. The portion sizes are very generous and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. We will definitely be going back!

Had a one night stay. Greeted by Luke and given an upgrade to a wonderful room. Every member of staff made us feel welcome and valued. Evening meal was great, breakfast was fine. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully use again.

It was so nice that the delivery man wasn’t bothered when there was builders doing some work and people delivering things and he couldn’t get around trying to find where the houses

we met with friends today, what a find, it was immaculate inside and obviously well cared for... Lovely guy served us and the meals were all perfect, we were 4 and another table, such a shame as the owner goes above and beyond.... Real napkins not bits of tissue. best chips anywhere crispy and fluffy.. a faultless experience... look forward to returning. Thank you J Barleycorn

The new menu, is lovely. We both had the steak chips and onion rings that were amazing, lovely staff and Zoe who waited the tables was really lovely and very helpful. Jacey was great, with great knowledgeable about the food and drinks 10/10, definitely will go again. Also met a lovely couple who were celebrating a birthday. A really good night:)

I don’t quite understand as my experience is vastly different to other reviews written here and I am not one for negative reviews normally. The menu was not like what I see in other reviews. Lots of fried options like burgers and scampi and fish and chips. The prawn starter was like frozen scampi and the Mediterranean feta pie was obviously microwaved as the pastry was soft and soggy. However the staff were friendly and helpful and the portions were big… maybe I just caught a bad day.

I’ve been so looking forward to a proper English Sunday lunch with all the fixings…. Well, the gravy, Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes were amazing. However, I’m not sure the purpose of a second serving of roasted potatoes! The cabbage was good and so was the lamb. The beef was okay- very overdone (imo). The service was excellent which made up for the meal shortcomings.

Second time of coming here - my wife and I had pizzas both times and I’ve got to say, genuinely one of the nicest pizzas we’ve ever had. The staff are super friendly and overall could not be more impressed. 100% recommend

As friends, four of us try to get together once a month to try a different place to eat. After a delicious meal earlier in the month, I suggested we tried the Christmas Menu at the Fox and Hounds. We were not disappointed. We had a lovely evening with delicious food. The Christmas set meal was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the Salmon but the Turkey looked equally appealing. Full marks to all the team at the Fox and Hounds.

Whole family loves the PP. We live close by and the food, drink and service is always good. Looking forward to spending more time here in the summer months.
