We were in the area for the weekend & had booked a different pub for our Sunday lunch but the accommodation we were staying in recommended this venue & we are so glad he did - what a find! There were 8 of us & we managed to book last minute. We all had the roast which was amazing, desserts & wine. Cannot fault it & hopefully will come back another day

Reasonable menu..but the butcher hadn’t been so NO meat options available. Nice staff, but not very organised so it took 15 mins to order, despite being 3rd in the queue. Ordered starter and mains…which came at the same time. As we were sat outside, you needed your take cutlery etc with you…but were not reminded when ordering so a number of tables had to come back for that.

Food was great quality and albeit on the higher end price wise ...it was worth it! Nice atmosphere. Staff when they came to the table were friendly but I had to go to the bar twice to get their attention.

The meal at the Dukes Head, Somerleyton was one of the most disappointing and overpriced meals we have ever had. The alarm bells rang as soon as the Crab starter arrived. It was crabmeat and mayonnaise on a piece of toast 15cm x 4cm with a sliced radish garnish, this cost a staggering £9! As if this was not enough the main course of gammon was equally pathetic. A small gammon steak topped with diced pineapple? This cost £19. See pics. I also asked for some English mustard which appeared to be about a teaspoonful. Drinks were extortionate too at £15 for a pint and a large white wine After reading the reviews there were no recent ones about the Dukes Head I wonder why??

We moored our boat at Somerleyton to visit the Duke’s Head for Sunday lunch as a family of 5. Four of us had a roast dinner (2 chicken, a beef and a pork belly) and one a burger, and we all agreed it was the best Sunday lunch in memory! The chicken was a generous portion and succulent (see picture) the beef fell apart on eating and the pork belly had plentiful meat with a beautiful, blisteringly crispy skin. All the trimmings (which were many) were cooked just right too, with as the meal’s crown a fabulously oversized yorkshire pudding. Service was a bit slow but it was friendly and accommodating so that didn’t spoil the mood. We will definitely be back!

Our first visit with our neighbours. Will not be the last. 3 of us had the Pork Belly, 1 had the Chicken, clean plates from all. Just one had an afters, which she said was delicious too. Service, friendly & efficient. Table near the door was most welcome, giving a much needed breeze on a very hot day. Also that my Husband was able to draw the curtain behind him, was most welcome.

Visited during a cruise of the Norfolk Broads having moored at Somerleyton Lovely service and fantastic food and wine. I was even able to order a Gluten Free fish and chips which was amazing. Our teen boys had dessert and enjoyed this after their steaks, the dads had burgers. Excellent crab on toast for starter!

Sunday Lunch today 21 July Arrived half an hour early @ 12:45 for table 1:15pm asked to wait for table. We Asked to sit down at 1:15 took 15-20 mins for them to take our order. Food arrived one hour later as a large table with kids booked for 12:15 came in an hour late from the garden. Not happy food ok! Will not return though as sub standard service throughout!!

First time trying food at the dukes head with my partner since it has been taken over. Firstly I noticed the menus online are not updated price wise which the roasts have increased in price. I ordered the roast beef which was excellently cooked. Only downside to our visit which I will know for next time is when booking a table sitting in the bar area, our table was nearest to the door and with people coming in and out of the door every 5 minutes it was bloody cold so myself and my partner had to sit with our coats on. Overall we would go back but it is an overpriced roast for what you get on your plate.

We have been trying to get to this pub after visiting the sister pub the Lion. Not because of reviews on here or friends, just try it. Well very sadly as we had high hopes after looking at it, it was awful. Wife had special board chicken and I had special board steak. Wife’s arrived cold and sent back. My tender stem broccoli was as good as raw, not Al dente as I was informed. No not good at all. Then saw locals tucking into ham eggs n chips which did look good, maybe set sights lower?

Have visited this country pub over the years and glad to say it has now finally found its mojo. Staff are welcoming and friendly, the pub itself is rustic and cosy. The food is superb. We have had the Sunday roast and the Lunch menu on a number of occasions. Never dissapointed. Plenty of tables inside, cosy bar area and when the sun is out the garden area is fantastic. Well worth a visit .

First visit. Both had the roast beef and a dessert. Food was great and lived up to expectations. Only slight criticism, because we pre-ordered the beef we weren't offered a menu. I would have ordered the cauliflower cheese as a side to share and maybe a starter instead of a dessert. We weren't asked if we'd like any more drinks either and it was hard getting anyone's attention. The server's were all young and not very proactive.

I went to the Dukes Head today for a Xmas lunch as part of a group of friends numbering 13. This is the third year in a row that we have visited this pub for a Xmas get together. All bar one had the Turkey dinner for their main and it was superb; the portion size was very generous and the food very very tasty. All in all, with starters and desserts etc it was faultless. The staff were great especially the two ladies who served us at the bar and who also waited on our table. They were very friendly and engaged with us throughout; great customer skills. Looking forward to next time!

Delicious lunch beautifully presented and served by friendly staff. The Duke's Head is a country pub in Somerleyton just outside Lowestoft and although unassuming from the outside is well appointed and stylish inside without losing that country pub ambiance. As well as great food there were three real ales on tap when we visited.

Service left a little to be desired as my stuff was cleared away whilst my wife was still eating which was awkward We were also offered desert menu at same time whilst my wife was still eating. Once finished my wife's stuff was cleared away including her drink which was only half finished. Couldn't fault the food was very fine dining the service left us feeling bemused and uncomfortable.

I had high hopes for this restaurant its fair to say it strives to be a 'Fine dining' establishment but it sadly fails, the food is fine and but the service not so, we had a pre-starter and then a starter both were quite sizable maybe a bit too sizable, but its the speed of delivery and the table service that makes me not want to return, and that is a shame as we live locally and are quite happy to spend £50 - £60 + a head and do so frequently The waitress was pleasant and chatty' as you would expect but she needs basic training, we arrived at 7.00 pm and heading home at 8.00 pm having had 4 courses, our waitress was very keen to clear our plates even while some of our party were still eating presumably because the starter was lined up ready to go, almost immediately the starter came out leaving a 30 second gap to recover from the large pre-starter,, I could see where this was going and as she cleared the plates from those of us that had just finished but still swallowing I said could we please have a break to enjoy the wine and let our food 'go down' she said sorry chef has the mains ready to go,, so out it came and same hurried anxious get it down you and clear off feeling returned, to summarise the whole experience took just under an hour, to add to this at the very end of this speed eating we wanted another drink but she 'disappeared' we she did return we paid and left, we had a drink at home which is where I should have stayed in the first place! I am disappointed because it is expensive and it could be a great place but they hit the post on basics, its rushed full of stress and even in an entry level 'greasy spoon' they do not clear your table while you are still eating.

Made to feel unwelcome on arrival at the bar. We’d called in for lunch. Knew it was bank holiday and were prepared for it to be busy. Gruffly told couldn’t order food to the garden and that hot drinks would take a good 20mins. Expect better customer service and a friendly manner, especially when trying to support the pub industry. Made to feel our custom was a hindrance. Really unpleasant experience.

A wonderful lunch in a beautiful setting. The food was cooked to perfection and the waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive. I fully recommend the beer battered Hake, it was the best Hake I have ever tasted, it was super fresh, and served with...

I have not moored at Somerleyton Staithe for some years but for this trip I was encouraged to stop because of the very positive reviews. It was a truly excellent meal and the “feasting options” are just super. The varied choices and the overall presentation...

I was blown away by the food, really good value for money, super tasty and very accommodating. My Mum is dairy intolerant and they changed the prawn dish which was originally in a butter sauce to prawns in tempura batter!!. I have eaten many times in Lowestoft but for us this has been the best !!

It was busy Friday lunchtime but managed to find a table. This is a good Wetherspoons, and we go here pretty regularly. Food is pretty reliable. It may not set the world on fire, but you know what you're getting, and both food and drinks are well priced. Pizzas are a go-to for us and have always been very good. Things that stood out for me on this visit were: 1. They have expanded range of beers and brought in some Christmas/winter options. Plum pudding i am told was very good, and had we both been drinking, we would have tried the Exmoor one as well. 2. I was on cold liquid/soft food diet due to dental work the day before, so I needed soft food and lots of ice cubes. The lady behind the bar was really accommodating and helpful in this respect and adapted things to help me. I didn't catch her name, but thank you, and we will return!
