The Poachers Pocket in Suffolk Coastal

we popped in here for drinks on my son Birthday and ended up eating,the food was yummy and fairly priced and we were made to feel very welcome and will return,thankyou staff

This place is always busy so make sure you book in advance! We called up an hour before we were passing for a table and they did everything they could to squeeze us in and we are so glad they did. The best Sunday roast out there, we all agreed it was absolutely superb. We came back the following Tuesday for the a la carte menu and were equally impressed. You do not expect to find this level of food and service in an off track country pub in Suffolk!

A great meal at the poachers, very good food, the service from the staff was not particularly good, I think they were a bit stressed.. large portions and all freshly cooked. Will defiantly return on our next visit.

Went to this pub for lunch that we had booked in advance and while eating was told if we could hurry up as the table was booked for other people. We had been there in total for 45 mins. We looked at other reservations that were made on the tables and they all had 2 hours between bookings. Won't be going again.

Popped in for lunch, ordered burger and steak and Stilton sandwich. Very tasty, thought it was expensive but they were both very large, I had half of the steak sandwich and the other half took home with me, value for money!! Dog friendly and great service, and very helpful staff. Recommended.

Wow excellent country pub. We visited here a number of times while on holiday. The roast dinner is amazing the best I have had. The other meals we had were also excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend we will be returning when we are next up that way.

From first arrival we were made to feel welcome. We were a party of three (one with mobility issues) and we were offered a table to minimise walking. Being a freehouse the selection of beers and wines was good. Also, the food was excellent and served hot. We forced ourselves to try dessert, again delicious. It is worth a visit if you are in the area but it is very unlikely that you will just stumble upon it, but search it out, you will not be disappointed.

What a lovely Sunday Lunch! The three of us enjoyed the Roast Beef and all agreed it was delicious. The staff were lovely, attentive and knowledgable about what was suitable for gluten free and any substitutions that would be made. The menu also clearly labels what is gluten free which is brilliant. Would definitely recommend a Sunday Roast here!

Visited last week with the family. There were 11 of us, 3 of which were young children. On arrival the staff were so helpful with parking, buggies, and ensuring the children were looked after first. Service was on point, and all staff were polite, friendly, and very accommodating. There wasn't a long wait for the food, and when it did arrive, it was delicious. We all had desserts, they made a special ice cream for my stepson, which was lovely. Highly recommend, would definitely return.

Poachers Rest burger…demolished Calamari - yum Beetroot hummus and pitta- different and great! Pudding…should have been salted caramel cheesecake but couldn’t manage it A quiet gem hidden away worth finding!

Family meal for Mother’s Day. We were welcomed and sat quickly, mums were offered a free glass of Prosecco. Lovely touch! Our meals were served promptly and presented well. Food was tasty and plentiful! Staff were unobtrusive but made sure everything was ok throughout our visit. Service runs like clockwork. Thank you for a lovely time.

We booked a last minute Sunday lunch and we’re told that they couldn’t fit us in until 2pm which was fine with us. When we arrived the place was still heaving but we were soon shown to our table which was being turned from the previous diners. Although there was a large varied menu we all went for the Beef Sunday roast which was very good. Service was good without being intrusive and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. There was a good choice of beers and the Argentinian Malbec was gorgeous. The only negative thing I can comment on is the parking which is very limited and tight when busy like it was when we visited. I thoroughly recommend and hope to return soon.

Five roast dinners, all served within 20 minutes of ordering, reasonably and competitively priced and all exceptionally good . Great quality food and very good sized portions . The pub itself is a nice place to be , crowded but that’s a good thing . The staff all friendly and helpful . Faultless .

The hidden gem in Suffolk. A proper country pub, with an open fire and great atmosphere. The staff were amazing and the food was fantastic! Good prices for restaurant quality food as opposed to standard pub food. This is our new regular monthly meet up pub and we can’t wait to go back. Very well done to everyone here !

Well where do I start, on a dreary Tuesday a really warm welcome awaited us. Aimee the manager gave us a very warm welcome and made us really comfortable. She was really knowledgeable about the beers they had on draught and helped my dad choose one. The food was simply amazing - well presented, tasty and piping hot, I would really recommend the fish pie - it was divine. Nothing was too much trouble for us - the pub was so warm and welcoming we didn't want to leave! Will be going again and again.

Great food, very friendly young waiter/barman . I go there a lot . Alone and with friends. However the bar lady today wasn’t very attentive and a little unfriendly which was a shame as I’d recommend the pub on other aspects.

What’s not to like? Great food, excellent service and good welcoming atmosphere. Yes the menu is quite small but we had no trouble finding something we both liked. Both meals were piping hot and flavoursome. As to be expected for a Friday evening just before Christmas the place was packed, including several large groups, however the service was still friendly, prompt and efficient. Will definitely be returning when next in the area

An absolute gem that keeps getting better and better. Delicious food, lovely staff. We came here last year and loved it and now we love it even more. Amazing variety on the menu, we had lunch one day and a roast the next and both were outstanding. Can't wait to come back here as they are just getting better and better 5 stars

Very friendly pub restaurant and more than happy to take dogs. We were offered water and a treat for ours. The service was friendly and efficient and we had a fab meal. Three of us had a superb fish pie and one had the Katsu chicken burger - no bun. We all agreed the food was lovely. The sticky toffee pudding wasn’t bad either! A very pleasant lunch experience with friends. We will definitely revisit when in the area.

We all had to agree that this was one of the best pub Sunday lunches we have ever had. The gravy was to die for, Yorkshire pudding was giant and crispy and the roast pork belly was cooked to perfection. The team are really friendly and we felt well looked after. Parking can be difficult but, the car park was full on our arrival but we found street parking in the village and it was a 2-3 minute stroll over. The pub is tucked away down a quiet country lane but is well worth searching for!

Spending few days at Cakes and Ale Park and decided to go out for a roast. Firstly found the starters choice a little basic and un-inspiring, husband had soup which was served in a pasta dish, very large portion and to much in all honesty. We then had roasted beef dinner, huge Yorkshire pudding proudly sitting on top of the meal, bizarrely with a stuffing ball inside and gravy, the food was actually swimming in gravy and had spilled over the side onto the table. So good points, roasters lovely, beef lovely, both hot. Bad points broccoli and carrots cooked well but almost cold, something sloppy on the side inedible, to be honest it all sitting in a pool of gravy really off putting. Rosie our waitress asked how it was and to be fair she handled it really well, she said if we’d asked she would have brought gravy out separately, I said it should be something they actually offered the customers when ordering not the other way round. In fairness her manager then came to see us Chloe and again she was very professional and apologised, also offered free desserts, we declined. I suggested they gave people the choice of the meal swimming in gravy or being able to put your own on, a no brainier really. Can’t fault the professional way they handled things and Chloe reduced our bill, such shame as it could have been so much better. If back in the area would try again and hope that all elements would come together.

See a sign for this pub so thought we would try it, a little off the beaten track, I popped in to see if we could bring the dog in , It was a yes. Once settled we ordered drinks and checked out the menu, myself and son had the chicken and bacon club sandwich and fries , hubby had haddock sandwich with fries , all the food was hot and tasty. The staff bought out water and biscuits for the dog too . So pleased we stopped off there . Would definitely recommend this foodie pub .

Fabulous traditional pub , fabulous food , so much so that we ate there 3 times. We thoroughly enjoyed scampi and fries and their tasty Sunday roast .
