This is my go to place, never had a bad meal, reasonably priced , lovely staff. Great selection of food

Well well well what can I say, I was impressed: the cleanliness, the ambiance, the service and the food was exceptional. My burger was delicious nice and juicy and the cake was perfect. The happy birthday toppers were sweet touches for my birthday lunch. Well done team Bothy. 👍🏽

My wife and I had afternoon tea, yesterday. First impressions were of a very nice venue, and welcoming staff on the front desk. We were taken to our seats and the lady explained the afternoon tea structure and pointed us towards the menu of teas and coffee that were available. Within a few minutes a fresh jug of ice cold water arrived. Strangely the young girl didn't utter a word, just plonked it down and left, no reply to our thanks. Five or so more minutes past, ten or fifteen minutes after being seated, and we were wondering when our drinks order would be taken. Fortunately we managed to grab the young male server, who was busy rushing around and to be fair to him he took our order with no complaint and was very cheery and polite. The afternoon tea arrived and was fantastic. Clearly all very freshly made and of excellent quality and very tasty. The only complaint I had about the food was one of the scones must have had an accident in the oven as it was almost wedge shaped, I wouldn't have thought anyone plating up would have accepted to put it on a plate in all honesty. We'd almost finished the sandwiches and savouries when our drinks finally arrived however, which again was disappointing, especially as we'd slow timed the sandwiches to wait for a drink. All in all the food was lovely, the setting is very nice and the Java coffee was excellent. The whole experience was sadly let down by the service. An elderly lady on the table next to the till had to get up after her mains were taken away to ask for a dessert menu and we did note that after the food arrived and we'd not managed to eat all the desserts, at no time did any of the servers approach to ask if everything was ok with the food, it seems to be standard practice in every restaurant? We did consider that with waiting times for drinks, being freshly made of course, it may have been better had the drinks order been taken when we were seated. Overall a nice venue, great food and worth a visit to see for yourself.

Amazing food and service! Located within Wentworth Garden Centre, it has a fantastic range of high quality food. Would highly recommend going for breakfast/brunch, many times, to try all the menu.

Came for delayed Mothers Day meal 16th March. Food mediocre but we were in the conservatory which was really cold. Won’t go again unless I can be in main restaurant

Gorgeous restaurant I didn’t even know was there! The food is beautiful, very fresh and tasty. Service was amazing, the staff are all so lovely. Decor of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. I think it will be my new favourite place to eat!

Situation in Wentworth Garden centre the bothy is a beautiful bistro restaurant. A lot of people pre book but we've been several times and always got a table with out booking. The staff are lovely friendly and efficient. The food is really nice and good value for money .there is a conservatory and outdoor eating the atmosphere is relaxing and botanical. A very good alternative if the other big cafe is busy or your celebrating or just fancy a quaint up market restaurant. The garden centre has a very large carpark . The venue is large with disabled access easy for people in wheelchairs .

Expensive. Scone seemed a bit undercooked. Chutney for the cheese scone was very acidic. Shame. Would have struck with a brew.

Probably the classiest place around for afternoon tea or a substantial lunch. Beautifully decorated room in the William Morris style, quality table wear and attentive staff make a visit to remember. Afternoon tea for us on this visit was tastefully presented and copious. We needed a doggy bag! My gluten/wheat intolerance was catered for as was my vegetarian choice a rare combination for a food business to cope with. Two small criticisms, no savoury gluten-free element provided (little quiche or tartlet or even a sausage roll) and the bread my sandwiches were made from was a tiny bit too thick and dry but I am being picky. By the way did you know that a Bothy is a shepherd's hut often found on estates such as Wentworth? A note to finish with, if you are with hard of hearing guests they may struggle with the acoustics.

Went to the Bothy for breakfast one Friday morning. Greated with a warm smiling face, She took us to our seats. The waitress came to ask if we would like to order drinks, then brought them and asked if we were ready to order from the menu. The food came hot and looked mouth watering. We were asked if everything was to our taste. It was lovely we asked for the bill. Everything was delicious.

The bothy it's self is wonderfully decorated and the front of house staff are pleasant. Unfortunately our visit yesterday (29/02/25) was a bit disappointing. There was obviously an issue in the kitchen as we were seated at our table at 13:30 but didn't get our lunch served until 14:45(ish). It wasn't until nearly an hour later that the waiting staff acknowledge we'd be waiting for "a while" and offered to refresh our tea and coffee. Once our meals arrived the vegetarian tikka masala was tasty and filling but the fish and chips were a bit disappointing. The fish itself was fresh but the batter was a bit soggy and chips slightly over cooked. So, after removing the batter and picking out the best of the chips & adding mushy peas we did get enough to eat. As compensation we were offered free cakes to take home, which I noticed several dinners took the offer up. However, we declined but appreciated the offer. I'm sure waiting time for service isn't usually this long and we appreciate that food is freshly cooked so it's not going to arrive instantly but I think we should have been informed on our arrival that there was an issue of some sort and we could have made the choice to stay at the bothy or go to one of the other eateries on site. It's such a shame as we'd made a special trip to visit the bothy. The rest of our visit to the garden centre, gardens and shop was enjoyable and leisurely.

Visited today for a birthday lunch, and the food was of a high standard as always, and the service was fabulous. Really recommend the salads and the fish and chips, but leave room for dessert as they are amazing! One of my favourite places to eat as the menu is great (something for everyone) and the decor is lovely. Always busy so best to book online, especially weekends.

Had lunch on Tues 12.45, extremely busy for February, but it always seems to be busy here whenever you visit. Good quality food with good quality service, friendly staff. We will be back again.

Afternoon tea. £48 for a round of sandwiches each. Cut nicely! The scone tasted fresh and was tasty. But .. the sandwiches had evidently been stood for a while . Some of the bread was dry. The cakes were stale and tasteless. Covered in cream to mask the fact? Afternoon tea was evidently a popular choice, couldn't cope with the amount required? For £48 it would have been nice to have something fresh. Not even a salad garnish. You evidently pay for the privilege of eating there not for the food. Staff looked run off their feet.

Always our choice for food and refreshments at Wentworth Gardens Centre. The interior is lovely, as well as the food. We both had the steak sandwiches with a coffee. Highly recommend.

Beautiful!! We visited this place on new year's eve and nearly didn't get to experience it because we got lost on the way and arrived after the kitchens closed! But the staff were so lovely that they let us in and we ordered some pizzas! The food was amazing, atmosphere so cosy, I was so full and relaxed by the end of it that I found it hard to get out of my chair! 😂 5 out of 5! Will definitely come back here to explore the rest of the menu! 😊

I had the full breakfast, one of the best I've ever had. Coffee is very nice and the cakes are a work of art with taste to match.

We called in as a party of four at the beginning of December. Despite how absolutely rammed it was with customers the food and service were top drawer. Couldn’t fault either. Staff were very friendly and our meals were excellent. First time we had been but definitely not the last. Can recommend and will return.

We called in for breakfast before looking around the garden centre and all 4 of us had the full breakfast. Fantastic food very attentive staff in lovely surroundings. Good value for money too. We will be back for more. Keep up the good work.

Called in for lunch , hadn’t made a booking. Decided on the calzone pizza, when it arrived it looked really good . Came served with what I thought was a ragu on the side , this turned out to be literally tomato soup .after eating some crust I cut into the pizza to find cheap diced chicken and I thi fodiced salami , in a sloppy tomato sauce , no cheese at all . At this point I stopped eating as it was not at all tasty . After making a complaint we were charged half the price for each calzone . Won’t be returning . One of those places that looks the part but food quality is sub standard .

Went for breakfast and asked for a properly cooked fried egg ,however it wasn't cooked on top and was sloppy .I told the waiter who then fetched another which was exactly the same. Otherwise trefoil was nice .

Brilliant food and great service

Booked lunch for 12.30.arrived at 12 to have a drink in the lounge. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere, plenty of chairs to sit on. Called in for lunch at 12.30.service was prompt and pleasant .Plenty of choice on the menu !.Meal was full of flavour and good size portions, finished off with coffee in the lounge. This hotel is a credit to Aldeburgh being both traditional and efficient. Long may it continue. Well done to the staff and the owner.

The Bothy is an unexpected little gem of a place. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent and there's no skimping on the size of the portions. Will definitely be going back.

One of the best full English breakfast I have had in a very long time. All ingredients fresh and cooked perfectly.

I came here with a few friends a couple of weeks ago. I had heard good reviews of this place and I am sad to say I was completely dissatisfied. The staff looked rushed off their feet, tense and unhappy. The food was cold and bland, well over priced. We were bundled in a hot corner, I wouldn’t have asked to move as it was very busy. That I can’t understand why! I must admit though our server was lovely, she was a young girl with ginger hair, talking to her was the highlight of our trip.

Called in for afternoon tea as we hadn't been before and was very pleased with the service and friendly staff that served us. Everything was freshly made as we waited with our drinks, we weren't all that long even though it was very busy and a good job we had pre-booked as they were turning away customers who were turning up on the off chance. Really clean and fresh and we couldn't fault a thing apart from it been very loud, as people were competing with each other to be heard. After a while it calmed down and was much more pleasant as we sat with our second pot of tea. Plenty of tables and chairs for couples or larger groups, well worth a visit. Would book again and hopefully it wouldn't be as loud.

I was given a Bothy afternoon tea gift voucher, and was expecting the same experience as a previous visit a number of years ago which was a lovely spread in the main restaurant. I was delighted to find that the Bothy was a separate restaurant, with a completely different atmosphere, a treat for all the senses. Our waitress was very attentive, with a great sense of humor, and enhanced the experience further. The food was delicious, and a requested change to the regular menu was completed without a problem. Despite being hungry on arrival we still took items home in a little box! I would highly recommend the Bothy for a special treat, and will certainly be purchasing gift vouchers in the future. :)

Excellent food. Staff very polite a d attentive. Only fault is it's such a large area and attracts large patties which tend to be very loud

Arrived at our reservation time only to be ignored for 15 minutes and other diners shown to their tables before us. My husband actually had to say something in the end. Not a good start The lady who was on front of house/showed us to our table had a terrible attitude/chip on her shoulder and would probably be better suited working in a Toby Carvery Lots of tables available but we were seated in the conservatory on a boiling hot day. The food was lovely and the gentleman who served us was very nice and attentive. The teenager who served us didn’t say much, only grunted. Me and my daughter used the toilets where there was not a single piece of toilet roll. On a busy Sunday! My daughter was left waiting on the toilet for ten minutes whilst the staff went and got toilet roll. Again very unattentive/unbothered by the fact we had been left in the toilet for ten minutes. Zero people skills. Waited absolutely ages to pay and in the end gave up waiting for the staff to come back with the card machine Absolutely won’t bother again. If you’re going to try and be ‘fancy’ make sure you’ve got the staff and the service to back it up.

Went in the afternoon with my sister I had the steak and blue cheese sandwich with caramelized onion it was very fresh and tasty and came with coleslaw and chips on the side which I wasn't expecting. Service can be a little bit slow but the staff are polite lovely setting luxury decor and great choice of desserts. I definitely recommend The coconut meringue with raspberries inside it was beautiful.

The afternoon tea at Wentworth Garden Centre is absolutely brilliant. On a cold winter’s day, you’ll find it’s perfect for sharing with a close friend.

This is a wonderful hotel, very traditional, over looks the sea, the rooms are up to date, very comfortable beds, breakfast is very good and good choice Evening meals are excellent, good choice too Good for meeting up with family and friends Good afternoon teas The staff are very helpful and pleasant, very attentive They have deals on certain occasions for dinner,bed and breakfast, this is the second time we’ve done this You have to do 2 nights, well worth it We will be going back, plenty to do in the area What we like is that it’s still run by the same family, what ever they’re doing is “right”

We decided to treat ourselves and have lunch at The Wentworth. As it was Friday I chose the grilled plaice which was perfection, my husband was delighted with his cod goujons. Desserts as usual were delicious. The ambiance in the conservatory was just right and being able to look out across to the sea is very relaxing. Coffee in one of the lounges perfect end to lunch before a stroll by the sea. As often happens, before we left we were greeted by a neighbour who had also travelled to Aldeburgh for lunch.

A traditionally tasteful, quality seaside hotel with a relaxed atmosphere offering non-residents a great daytime food option. Don't be deceived: the welcoming terrace & tranquil gardens are home to a lunchtime food offer that competes really well with the beach huts serving fresh seafood. From the cosy terrace bar, a quietly confident but welcoming team delivers a well priced lunch menu of freshly prepared food alongside a well-kept bar. Really enjoyed the fresh sougher-dough open sandwiches (& pizza) under the shelter of a parasol as we watched passers by & the beach across the Road. All tasty & all good value. It was good enough that my other half went for a long lunch while I popped to Orfordness for a day. The evening menu looked interesting, albeit more upmarket than lunch & priced accordingly. Still, we'll see if we can book dinner on our next trip.
